Where there are no waves. Sri Lanka: beaches without waves. The best beaches in the country. There are two types of beaches in Cancun

Everyone who comes to Bali thinks out his route in advance so that the chosen beach or part of the island is suitable for the preferred type of vacation. For example, surfers will choose Jimbaran or Padang Padang. Beaches in Bali without waves (Geger, Nikko) are suitable for family swimming and sunbathing.

In Bali, good places are located on the Bukit Peninsula. There is not only a suitable relief, but also clean sparsely populated beaches. The southern part of the island is popular for its white sand and azure waters. Other parts of the resort also have calm beaches without significant waves.

    Geger

Geger is one of the quietest beaches in Bukit. There are practically no waves here thanks to the coral reef separating the coast from the ocean. suitable for children with parents as the water heats up more than other beaches. The infrastructure is well developed here, there is a cafe, sun loungers, a hotel is located nearby, and you can also sunbathe topless. All these factors make a good claim to be the best place in Bali for a relaxing holiday without waves.

    Nikko

Nikko is a quiet, uncrowded beach. Here, not only are there no high waves, but the ebb and flow are practically not felt. The coastline is quite long and there are dangerous currents in some places. The coast is perfect for those who like to be photographed - a volcano can be seen in the distance, and a dead tree lies on the sand, which attracts locals and tourists with its view. The turquoise water, which is periodically purified by the beach staff, is ideal for bathing children and adults.

    Padang-Padang

Small Padang-Padang recently was a kind of "secret corner" of local residents. He gained popularity after filming the movie "Eat, Pray, Love" here. The main advantage of the beach is the almost complete absence of waves; surfers can be found only at a distance from the coast. During the high season, the calm waters make it very crowded with tourists.

The infrastructure of Padang-Padang is poorly developed - on the shore there are only a couple of tents with food and bathing accessories, there is only rent of umbrellas without sun beds. If you wish, you can leave the crowded part of the coast and retire to the rocks.

    Pandava

    - a great place where you can swim and relax with the whole family. The clear water and safe bottom attract tourists who want to swim in the calm ocean without strong waves. Surfers will have to sail far from the coast to catch the pipe. The infrastructure is well developed - along the coast there is a whole strip of cafes and shops. On the shore you can rent a kayak - there are an abundance of them here. Lovers of wandering will be able to appreciate the local caves, as well as take pictures in the original gazebo on the shore.

    Nusa Dua

The Nusa Dua area, located on Bukit, is a whole network of beaches that can be accessed both by ordinary tourists and exclusively by guests of a particular hotel. There is a huge selection of 5-star hotels, well-developed infrastructure. Tourists have the opportunity not only to swim in a relatively calm ocean without waves, but also to choose one of the many offered water sports - surfing, diving, windsurfing.

The beaches belonging to the hotels are always clean and well-groomed, refined. The public beach is more polluted, but the entrance to it is open to everyone. Tourists can visit the Galleria Shopping Center, which has free transport from Nusa Dua.

    Tanjung Benoa

Kosa Tanjung Benoa is a pleasant place for family holidays. There are mid-range hotels here. The beaches are clean and wide, without waves. In shallow water during such periods, you can safely play fun games with children, these places are protected from boats by buoys. Tide-free beaches can be found in the lagoons that form behind the breakwaters.

In the northern part of the coast, tourists can easily find water activities to their liking, for example, snorkeling or an underwater scooter. In the hotel, everyone can enjoy the cuisine of the restaurant or relax in the beach club.

). About which beaches are more convenient to live and swim on, about the best hotels in Cancun and about your impressions of visiting the Hotelier's Zone. For a start, the background.

Chatted once upon a time with my Brazilian friend. He traveled for a year in Latin America, Europe and Asia.

- Micon, where is it better to go for half a year? To SEA or Latina?
- To Latina!
- Why not Asia? You said Asia is cool
- Yes, cool, but there is no Caribbean!

After this conversation, I still went to Southeast Asia for a few months, but the dream of the azure waters of the Caribbean Sea is firmly embedded in my brain. And if an idea appeared in my head, then it just won't go away from there until a check mark “achieved, done, done” appears on the contrary.

Therefore, today I am writing my reviews about relaxing on the beaches of the Caribbean. For starters, about the Mexican. First in line - Cancun beaches.

As I said in the post about, the entire territory of the resort is divided into the city of Cancun and the Zona Hotelera, aka the Hotel Zone. The city is home to Mexicans and low budget travelers.

Oteler's area- this is such a sand spit in the form of a seven, completely built up with hotels. On the one hand, the spit is washed by the Nichupte Lagoon, on the other hand, by the waters of the Caribbean Sea. It is inhabited by tourists from America, Europe and Russia, vacationers and travelers whose budget allows them to rent more expensive accommodation.

It's cheap to live in the city, but you have to go to the sea by bus (20-40 minutes to good beaches, 0.8$ one way bus ticket R1 or R2). It is more expensive to live and relax in the Hotel Zone (prices for housing and food are several times higher), but the beaches are nearby.

There are two types of beaches in Cancun:

  • Beaches to Punta Cancun from 0 to 9 km, without waves
  • Beaches after Punta Cancun - 9 km and further - open sea with waves

About 4 million visit Cancun's beaches every year! tourists, mainly from the USA.

The first people I saw, getting off the bus near the beach, were half-naked American teenage girls who carried a box of beer with them to the steam and asked the ticket collector if it was forbidden to abuse alcohol on the ferry to (of course, where, without beer, then at 11 in the morning, and even in the sea for half an hour!).

These are no longer the Pacific beaches of Mexico with cheerful retirees. In Cancun, the party and drive are of a different level.

Many Mexicans go to Cancun to work, so the attitude towards tourists is worse here than on the Pacific coast. In Cancun, they will speak English with you, offer exotic tours, accept dollars for payment, smile, but the flavor that can be found in Chiapas or on the beaches of Huatulco is not at all. But there is the Caribbean Sea.

So, back to the beaches without waves. In the north, the Cancun Spit is closed from the open sea by the Island of Women, so all beaches up to 9 km are completely calm and safe. If you are looking for a hotel in Cancun, keep in mind that house numbers are missing... The address is usually written on which kilometer of Kukulkan Boulevard the hotel is located. For example, like this:

Kukulcan Boulevard Km 8.5 hotel zone, Cancun, Mexico

1. Playa Las Perlas - 2.5 km

Pearl Beach

City beach, which begins in the city of Cancun and stretches to 2.5 km of Boulevard Kukulcan. There if someone is resting, then the Mexicans with their families and children on weekends and on the days of Semana Santa.

This area cannot be called a beach either. The sea is not at all like what you dream of seeing in the Caribbean. There is a wide strip of algae on the shore. There are no cafes or shops nearby. If you are looking for a place to stay in Cancun, then I do not recommend Playa Las Perlas, although there are hotels there too.

2. Playa Juventud - 3 km

Youth Beach 2.5 - 3 km

It starts immediately behind the Las Perlas beach and is not much different from the latter. The sea is also shallow, there is seaweed on the shore, there is a pier and many boats. For a vacation in Cancun, I would not choose it either.

3. Playa Linda- 4 km

Oasis Palm hotel near the canal in Playa Linda

Playa Linda, which in translation means "Beautiful", is divided into two parts by the channel. The sea up to the canal is the same as on the two previous beaches, and then - after the fourth kilometer - the real turquoise Caribbean Sea begins.

If you want to swim at Linda Beach, go beyond the canal (the further east from the start of the spit, the better the sea). We entered the beach through the lobby of the Grand Oasis Palm

Linda has shops, cafes, bars. It is here that there is a bar in the form of a pirate ship. The all inclusive hotel zone begins behind the channel. When I was in Cancun, I lived in Playa Linda in an apartment for $ 50.

If I had not seen other beaches in Cancun, I would have happily splashed at Playa Linda, as I did on the very first day in the Caribbean. However, the further you go from the beginning of the spit, the more beautiful the beaches become. Subsequently, although we lived on the bathing Linda, we went to swim on the beaches of 9, 12 and 15 km - I'll talk about them below.

Playa Langosta - 5 km

If you move away from the hotels, you will get a personal beach. It's a pity you can't lie like that for a long time because of the sun
There are enough people near hotels

Langoust beach, isp. Playa langosta

All inclusive hotels are located here. The sea is so-so, there is algae, but the guys in the hotels are poured free alcohol, there are a lot of American youth, no one really comes out of the pool. They seem to have fun there.

From here, ferries leave for Isla Mujeres. If you move away from the hotels to the ferry station, you can find a knee-deep shallow cove with clean water, where there are no buildings in the background. This is very rare for Cancun.

There are almost no people. There is a public entrance to the beach. Nearest cafes and shops in Playa Linda.

5. Playa Pez Volador - 5.5 km

Flying Fish Beach, isp. Playa pez volador

This is one of my favorite Cancun beaches without waves. The sea is shallow, the water is clean. The beach is partly sandy, partly rocky.

The water is clear near the shore. Ideal for a relaxing holiday with young children. Popular with foreigners. There are several hotels on the beach. There is fun. Closer to 6 km of Kukulcan Boulevard there are shops, parking, toilet and cafes with reasonable prices.

6. Playa Tortuga - 7 km

Seaweed on Tortuga beach
There are secluded bays where it is very shallow

Turtle Beach, isp. Playa tortuga

Public beach popular with Mexicans. There is a public entrance to the beach and parking. There are cafes with superb prices and several shops near the beach. There are a lot of people, the music is thundering. The water is calm, the depth is maximum to the chest.

If you want to feel the flavor of Mexico or listen to Spanish speech, then you can safely go to Tortuga. Here you can be among the Mexicans, and not among the tourists, as on most beaches in Cancun.

Compared to hotel beaches, there are more algae on Tortuga, which no one removes.

Hotels and apartments 7-8 km in Cancun

  • La Villa du Golf - booking rating - 9.7 , price from 100$ , breakfast included. Location - 7.5 km. Across the road from the sea (10 min walk to the beach), very good reviews. You can go to Tortuga, or better - to the Karakol beach. The distance is the same.

7. Playa Caracol, Km 9-10

Caracol beach is my favorite
Hotel Riu by the sea

Snail Beach, isp. Playa caracol

This beach is built up with hotels, foreigners rest in hotels. There is an official public entrance to Caracol, so closer to the entrance mostly Mexicans and non-hotel guests of the country hang out (like me, for example).

One of the most decent beaches in Cancun without waves. Ideal for swimming. There are no waves, the water is clear. Not deep, not shallow. The sand is the whitest. One thing is bad - there are almost no places where you can sunbathe. The hotel's sun loungers are close to the water.

There are quite a lot of people - both tourists and Mexicans. From Karakol, you can, if you wish, walk to the Coco Bongo disco. There are a large number of shops, cafes, ATMs near the beach

If you are looking for a beach in Cancun without waves with white sand and the Caribbean Sea in perfect color, you can safely go to Snail Beach at 8-9 km of the Hotelier Zone. The best beach at the Riu Cancun hotel.

Hotels and apartments on the "seven" in Cancun

All inclusive chain hotels for 9 km of Cancun:

  • Grand Fiesta Americana - booking rating - 9.1 , price - $ 319, location - 9 km. Luxury five star spa hotel. Only for adults... There is a spa, a gym with an ocean view
  • Riu Palace - 4 *, all inclusive, rating 8.9 ... Stands directly on the Karakol beach. Popular with couples, wifi 9.3 Mbps

My reviews about Cancun beaches

The northern beaches of the Hotelier Zone are closed by Isla Mujeres, so there are no waves. They are suitable for families with young children and people who cannot swim. On some beaches you won't even be able to swim if you want to, because the sea is knee-deep.

Most of the Cancun beaches I liked Caracol (8-9 km). If you need a calm sea without waves of comfortable depth and white sand without algae, then Karakol is ideal.

In second place is the Dog-Volador and Tortuga. However, if you choose the perfect beach, then I am still closer to beaches with waves that begin after Punta Cancun (after the 9th kilometer). There you can jump on big (and not very big) waves, and there are also significantly fewer people.

Description and photos of the beaches located after the 9th kilometer of the Hotel Zone can be found at the link:.

My first Mumple in my life

P.S. My reviews of Cancun beaches are subjective and may differ from your own experience. I personally know people who do not like Cancun in any form - either with waves or without waves.

Someone sees the disadvantages of Cancun in the endless strip of hotels, others do not like the prices, and the third is the Mexican society.

I have been to many cities of the Mayan Riviera, which start in the south after Cancun airport and stretch down to Belize. Objectively, the beaches of Cancun are clean, and the Caribbean Sea is the most beautiful in Cancun, starting from the ninth kilometer of Boulevard Kukulcan.

In Mexico, there is not only Cancun, but also other cities, the beaches of which are no less beautiful. Check out my 2 minute video about the best beaches in Mexico:

Warm sea to you! Best regards, Mila Demenkova.

Cancun beaches without waves (1-9 km) - hotels, reviews, photos. Mexico

Phuket has a dry and wet season. In the dry season, winds blow from the land, so the sea remains calm, it is pleasant and safe to swim in it. During the wet season, the wind direction changes and big waves rise at the sea, it becomes dangerous to swim in the sea. This is indicated by red flags along the coast. But even in such an unfavorable season for holidaymakers, some remain suitable for swimming. We will talk about them in this article. And also I will tell you about the beaches on which the biggest waves rise.

When do big waves rise?

When choosing places to stay in Phuket, you need to consider such an important point as waves. From December to April there is usually a cloudless sky and calm, calm weather. But, since April, the north-western monsoons come to the island, blowing from the ocean, and powerful waves up to three meters high rise to the sea. The high season is waning and beach lovers are leaving the coast. And the time of big waves lasts from May to October. It is during these months that Phuket becomes a mecca for surfers around the world.

Phuket beaches where there are no waves

During the high season, there are no big waves anywhere on this Thai island. But during the low season, big waves rise on most of Phuket's beaches. However, there are beaches that are calm all year round. Most of them are located on the east coast of the island.

Cape Panwa or Panwa Bay is located in the eastern part of the island, south of Phuket Town. Here, almost all year round, regardless of the season, there is a quiet and calm sea. The only negative: there are often strong ebb tides in the bay, exposing underwater rocks that are ugly and unsafe for swimmers.

Ao Yong

Translated from Thai, the name of the beach Ao Yon means the bay. From the name it is clear that this part of the coast is protected from waves and wind even during the low season. It is a picturesque place with beautiful landscapes. There is a local yacht club on Ao Yon and there are many sailboats in the bay.

Three Trang

South of Patong is located. It is located in the bay. Since the coastal strip is surrounded on all sides by a chain of hills, waves do not reach there. The only negative is the strong ebb tide, during which you cannot swim. The sea goes very far from the coast, strongly exposing the rocky bottom.

Nai Yang

It is part of the National Park of Thailand. This is a slightly secluded but picturesque place with little developed infrastructure. The coastal area is protected by a huge coral reef, so there is always a calm sea, there are no high waves and strong underwater currents. During low tides, the sea is far enough away from the coast.

Coral island

Also, to swim in the calm sea and sunbathe, you can go to the neighboring island -. This is an amazingly beautiful island with white sand and dense tropical vegetation. The island is surrounded by hills on all sides, so the coastal waters are very calm here. When entering the sea, the edge of the coast does not break off, but smoothly goes inland. At low tide, the seabed is exposed, and there are coral reefs a few meters from the island.

Where are the biggest waves?

The height of the waves off the coast of this tropical island, from the point of view of professional surfers, is considered low (up to 3 meters). But such waves will appeal to beginners and fans of this sport. But even surfers are not averse to riding here during the calm period at other spots in the world. However, swimming on such beaches is dangerous. The most popular surfing spots are located in the southwestern part of the coast.

Karon

From April to October, powerful ocean waves roll over the beach, driven by southwestern winds. practically unaffected by ebb tides. During the low season, the sandbanks move rapidly, creating high waves, which makes these places not entirely safe.

The movement of the sandbank generates waves from all directions. With a small and variable wind, the wave rises up to 2 meters in height.

Kata

Is the most popular destination for. The waves usually rise up to 2 m. Both beginners and professionals love to ride the waves here. You should be careful in the south of the beach, as there are quite a few stones under the water. Kata Beach is not safe for swimming during the rainy season.

Surin

The beach is not affected by the ebb tide. Off-season provides excellent surfing opportunities. Here you can catch a good wave, both during tidal currents and in low water. You should beware of the accumulation of large rocks in the middle of the beach. But the northern and southern parts of the coast are absolutely free.

Mai Kao

The 10 km long beach is a very deserted place. It is not safe to swim here, as even a weak wind can catch up with high waves. Due to the sharp drop in the seabed and many underwater currents, even surfing is controversial. The water goes far from the coast during low tides.

Kalim

Kalim Beach is located in the western part of Phuket, north of Patong. During low tide, sharp stony heaps and rocks are revealed. The place is not entirely suitable for swimming due to the abundance of coral reefs and rocks at the bottom. In the "off" season surfers come to the beach in pursuit of a big wave.

Kamala

A very popular place among tourists during the "hot" season. Clear water, light sand and calm sea attract holidaymakers. Low tides are changeable in different parts of the beach and do not interfere with swimming. But the southwestern monsoons coming to Kamala Bay raise big waves on the sea. In the north of the beach, the wave can reach three meters in height and, bumping into coastal reefs, rise even higher.

Thus, during the low season, the western beaches of Phuket are not suitable for swimming, at this time of the year it is better to give preference to the east coast. During torrential tropical rains, with the arrival of strong winds and the appearance of large waves, a lot of garbage is thrown out of the ocean on the coast, even at high tide.

It is no secret that more than half of the beaches in Sri Lanka are considered some of the best in the world. And there are explanations for this. First, they are clean. Secondly, they are completely covered with sand, which is a pleasure to step on with bare feet. And thirdly, all beaches are the creation of nature itself, not of man. Therefore, they are unique and there are no such beaches anywhere else. But such wonderful beaches also have their minus, and this minus is the waves, and sometimes very large. Therefore, tourists who come here on vacation, first of all, find out where the beaches in Sri Lanka are without waves. We have collected information to help you choose the best beach in Sri Lanka for families with children at any time of the year. You can relax here in January, February, March and any other month of the year. And so, let's take a look.

Beach - Unawatuna

Back in 2004, the famous Discovery TV channel named this beach the best in the world. Years have passed and the beach is still nice and welcomes tourists. There are no big waves, there is almost always smooth surface.

The beach itself has a semicircular shape, which decorates it and makes it special. This small lagoon is known for its shallow depth. The deepest depth is not more than 6 meters, and then you still have to swim to it. Therefore, tourists with children prefer to come here.
The beach is sandy, there are no stones or shells on it. It is completely safe for absolutely everyone. Elephants are not allowed here and you can not be afraid that when you open your eyes you will see a herd of elephants in front of you.

Diving enthusiasts gather on the beach. They dive under the water and admire the underwater world. Fish, corals. Plants and sunken ships. This is rarely seen in one place.

Find out about the prices for Sri Lanka. To be ready for anything. You will understand from the article. Why are fruits and vegetables expensive here and why laptops are the cheapest in the world?

Nilaveli is the best beach according to travel agencies.
If the travel agency tells you that the Nilaveli beach is the best on the entire coast of Sri Lanka, then believe them. This is the case. Ask any tourist who has been to the country, and he will say that this is the best place to stay.

The beach has white sand and the water in the sea is the cleanest in the area. Many fish swim here, which, like people, want to enjoy the purity and beauty of the place. There are a lot of tourists on the beach. Although it is located at a remote distance from the Colombo resort. But tourists rush here from early morning to take a seat and enjoy their rest.

Fans of scuba diving also do not bypass the beach. They have their favorite place here. Where they gather and dive together to once again enjoy the beautiful views of the ocean's underwater life.

Negombo is a beach with cheap seafood.
This beach not only has no waves, but is also known for its cheap seafood.
It is from here that boats and fishing ships sail, which catch squid, fish, oysters and other inhabitants of the ocean. So there is always fresh and inexpensive seafood in local cafes and restaurants.

Negombo is also famous for its buildings, which are several centuries old. It was on this beach that fortresses and churches were built when the country was part of the Dutch colony.
The beach is very popular with tourists and locals. It is fun here, sports games are held on the sands, and children are always under the supervision of lifeguards.

Mirissa is a beach for romantics.
There are very few hotels on the coast where this beach is located. out of only ten, so there are very few tourists in this place.
Newlyweds and people in love come here. Sitting by the ocean and enjoying the beautiful sunset is a favorite pastime for all couples. The beach itself is small, but there are many cozy places on it where you can retire and listen to the sound of the ocean, the cries of birds and say goodbye to the passing day.

Everyone will like this beach, because everything here is so natural and unique. The coastline of the beach is made of sand of different colors. And the entrance to the water is shallow, so you can enter the ocean 10-15 meters, and you will still stand in the water.

These are the four beaches we offer you to choose from. Remember, these are beaches without big waves. In fact, there are more than a thousand beaches in Sri Lanka.

Not everyone travels to Thailand during the peak season, when the weather is better, but prices are much higher.

And that's why let's try to solve the problem - which beach to choose in Phuket during the low season? The low season (or, as it is often called, the rainy season) in Phuket runs from May to September and thus falls within our traditional holiday season. It is generally believed that at this time of year all the best beaches in Thailand, and Phuket as well, are not suitable for swimming. However, for Phuket, this is not entirely true. The northwest monsoon, which dominates the island during all summer months, only affects the west coast, leaving the east and southeast of the island in the same condition as during the dry season. If you are relaxing here in low season, then you can without hesitation choose the beaches of Phuket, which we will talk about now.

So, remember the rule - the east coast of Phuket is quite suitable for rest during the rainy season.

The second rule - in any case, the rainy season weather is not so favorable for recreation. You must be prepared for waves even on sheltered beaches, as well as wind, short rainfall and higher humidity.

And now - more about this.

Islands on the east side of Phuket.

The monsoons prevailing in the western part of Phuket island create large waves on the sea, while in the eastern part of the island the sea remains quite calm. If you happen to be here during the low season, then you can feel free to head to some of Phuket's wonderful beaches, located on Koh Naka and Rang Yai.

On the island of Koh Yao Noi, there is also a cozy beach, reliably protected from the sea waves by the cliffs surrounding it.

Between Phuket Island and the Malay Peninsula is the famous Phang-Nga Bay, considered one of Thailand's natural wonders. Here you can also swim in the low season without fear for your life and health.

Several good beaches are located nearby on the Phi Phi islands, which in the low season will delight you not only with the absence of waves, but also with a calm atmosphere. Indeed, in the rainy season, numerous crowds of tourists disappear from Phi Phi. Phi Phi Bay, sheltered from the waves, not only provides opportunities for swimming, but also offers a variety of water activities: boating (not recommended at low tide), diving and snorkeling.

Which beach in Phuket itself will be the best in low season?

Phuket has several beaches partially closed from the sea, which are suitable for swimming all year round. One of these wonderful beaches is Nai Yang Beach. This beach is shielded from the sea by a reef that simply does not allow high monsoon waves to pass through. That is why the coastal waters of this one of the most beautiful beaches in Phuket remain relatively calm all year round.

And now - about the exceptions to our rule, about the beaches from the western and southern ends of the island.

Layan Beach is located on the west coast but still offers swimming opportunities during the northeast monsoon season. And this is due to the fact that this beach is protected from the waves by nearby islands, including one of the largest islands - Kala Island. Layan Beach has a small bay suitable even for bathing children.

During the low season, beach lovers can pamper themselves at beaches in Phuket such as Kata, where the sea is relatively shallow, so the waves are not felt much even in the northeast monsoon season, and at Cape Panwa. Located in the southeast of Phuket Island, this promontory offers several excellent beaches and calm sea swimming. On the Kata Noi beach, entry into the water is more harmless due to the shallow depth, therefore it is believed that swimming there is safer than on the rest of the beaches on the west coast of Phuket. However, when swimming on Kata Beach, you should be extremely careful not to swim far into the sea, where depth, waves and currents can pose a significant threat.

It is also suitable for swimming in the low season, the Paradise Beach, which is closed from the waves.

Nai Harn is another beach located at the extreme southern point of Phuket Island. Nai Harn Beach is often visited by couples with children, and those who want to swim in the low season. This Phuket beach is protected from winds and waves by a far protruding cape on the right end (there are also several small, cozy beaches here). The southern part of the beach, where the lagoon meets the sea, forms an excellent diving pool. You can go diving here. It should be borne in mind that during low tide the beach is very shallow, and at high tide you can dive here. Although Nai Harn is one of the best beaches in Phuket during the low season, there are still days when strong oxen rise to the sea. However, there are much fewer such days, compared to other beaches on the west coast of Phuket.

Perhaps the best place to relax in the low season in Phuket is Coral Island, located not far from Chalong Bay. Calm, clear, teeming with colorful tropical fish, water and dream beach, just 15 minutes by boat from Phuket. Highly recommended for those staying on the south side (Nai Harn, Panwa, Kata, Karon, Chalong). You can get there either by buying a tour or by renting a small Thai boat at Chalong Pier. The cost in the latter case will be about 3500 baht - the boat can accommodate up to 8 people.

In general, almost all beaches in Phuket are suitable for swimming: during the northeast monsoon season, calm days often fall when there are almost no waves on the sea. But when the number of rest days is limited, then every day counts. Therefore, in the rainy season, we still recommend choosing beaches from the eastern end of Phuket Island.

And what else, besides a beach holiday, can you please yourself in the rainy season?

The picture will differ from month to month, so let's say a few words about each of them.

If we consider the rainy season in Phuket by month, then the picture emerges as follows:

May: the weather is usually good in the first half of the month, then there are small changes, intermittent rains are possible and small waves appear on the sea. Although there are places where the sea is always calm - this is Phang-Nga Bay, so you can safely go on sea excursions to the shores of the James Bond and Krabi Islands. Also in May you can visit the grandiose religious holiday Visakha-Budja. Buddhists believe that it was on this day that enlightenment descended on the great Buddha.

June: A very unstable month, one might even say unpredictable. The weather can please with clear sunny days, or it can prepare an unpleasant surprise in the form of high waves and strong monsoon winds. In June, go on an excursion to Krabi province where the sea is still calm during this period.

July: Rainy and windy weather becomes more frequent, but rains are not prolonged for 2-3 hours, they mostly come at night or in the afternoon. But the sun doesn't get any less hot. In July, residents of the country celebrate two wonderful holidays Asanha Buja and the Full Moon Festival - on this day, according to the legend, Buddha delivered his first sermon. In July, the "Great Buddhist Lent" begins, young men in Thailand are tonsured as monks for three months.

August: Strong winds and short rains can spoil the mood for beach lovers. But avid fishermen this month will delight with excellent fishing and warm weather. The air temperature does not drop below 27 degrees, which creates quite comfortable conditions for successful fishing in the open sea, if you are lucky, you can catch Vakha or even Merlin

September: Workers of travel agencies consider this month the rainiest month on the island, but this does not mean that the sun is not visible at all, but strong gusts of wind and high waves do not allow you to sunbathe and fully relax. There are red flags on the beaches warning that swimming is dangerous, but that still doesn't stop thrill seekers. But even strong waves and winds do not make Phuket deserted and dull, during this period surfers - professionals and beginners - come to the island. They host international competitions and improve their skills at the surf school in Kata Bay.

October: rich in grandiose events of a religious nature. Perhaps the largest and most impressive of them is the Vegetarian Festival. The Great Buddhist Fast ends, and the inhabitants of the island arrange a colorful parade, with incredible fireworks. Everyone puts on white clothes, which is a symbol of purity and renewal of the spirit, but the most powerful manifestation of spiritual purity is the ability to torture your body. The parade participants pierce different parts of their bodies with various objects, to be honest, the sight is not for the faint of heart.

Throughout the "low season", the rains are short-lived and after a downpour, a bright sun appears in the sky. But there is a huge problem for auto and motorcycle enthusiasts, since even light rain can turn into a real natural disaster and movement on the streets will be difficult. However, this will not prevent you from relaxing on the beach or by the pool of your hotel, as the air temperature does not drop below 28 degrees, the sun is as hot as in the high season.

Of the unconditional advantages of rest at this time, one can also name a smaller number of people on the beach, increased friendliness of the staff, lower prices for recreation, entertainment and excursions. Nature at this time blooms and pleases with its beauty. For lovers of rafting, this is a wonderful time, in the dry season the rivers are too shallow. In addition, most of the national Thai holidays are held during this time, which are highly recommended to visit.
