Foreign passports and documents

Where can you relax without a visa? Which countries will accept Russians without a visa? Why should you choose a country with a visa-free entry regime for your holiday?

A visa-free regime means obtaining a visa at the border or at ground checkpoints (checkpoints, airports, etc.). There is automatically no need to contact the embassy, provide a lot of documents and wait to receive the long-awaited exit permit. .

However, a number of European countries are not members of the EU. Many of them have a visa-free regime with the Russian Federation. In 2020, Russians will not need to pre-issue an entry permit to these countries.

List of republics with visa-free entry into Europe:

  • Abkhazia (90 days);
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina (30);
  • Macedonia (30);
  • Moldova (90);
  • Transnistria (180);
  • Republic of Belarus (90);
  • Serbia (30);
  • Türkiye (60);
  • Ukraine (90);
  • Montenegro (30).

All these countries are not members of the European Union. Although Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Macedonia and Serbia are considered potential candidates for membership. Today, active negotiations are underway regarding their accession to the EU. But until these countries become members of the European Union, Russians can freely enter these republics.

Visa-free countries for Russians on the world map

Visa to enter the territory of Ukraine

The rules for crossing the border have been simplified for Russians. They are given a crossing stamp in their foreign passport at customs control points. A prerequisite for crossing the border is filling out a migration card.

Previously, Russians had the right to enter Ukraine only with internal passports. But since 2015, the situation has changed due to military operations on the territory of Ukraine. Since 2015, Russians can cross the Ukrainian border only if they have a foreign passport.

Conditions for entry into Ukraine for Russians in 2014 became more stringent against the backdrop of the armed conflict in Donbass and the annexation of Crimea. Now entry is impossible from the Crimea, as well as the Lugansk and Donetsk Republics. Those Russians who violate this rule are subsequently not allowed to enter Ukraine.

Entry to Moldova

The Russian Federation and Moldova have signed an agreement on a visa-free regime. Therefore, citizens of the Russian Federation in 2020 do not need to obtain a preliminary entry permit. Crossing the border is carried out only with a foreign passport. The permitted period of stay on the territory of Moldova without permission for Russians is 3 months.

If crossing the border is carried out with a minor child, then the parents must provide the border services with not only the child’s foreign passport, but also the original of his birth certificate.

Checkpoint Berestovitsa, Belarus

When crossing the border by land, namely by car, the owner of the car must provide customs officers with a driver’s license, registration certificate, personal documents and, of course, insurance for the car.

Citizens of the Russian Federation can stay in the country without a visa for no more than 90 days. But if a citizen of the Russian Federation intends to stay in Belarus for more than one month, he is required to register at his place of residence. Otherwise, when leaving the country, the Russian will be fined.

Entry to Abkhazia

To travel to Abkhazia in 2020, Russians will need a foreign or general passport. A prerequisite is life insurance for a Russian citizen in the amount of more than 30 thousand rubles. The insurance covers tourist accommodation in Abkhazia at the rate of 1 thousand rubles per day.

That is, the amount of insurance must be equal to the expected period of stay in Abkhazia. Children under 6 years of age are exempt from insurance. Persons who work in Abkhazia for more than 6 months are also exempt from insurance.

Persons who have visited Abkhazia subsequently cannot obtain a visa to travel to Georgia.

Entry into Serbia

Entry into the country is carried out using a foreign passport. The main thing is that the validity period is at least one month after the end of the intended trip. When crossing the border, you will need to provide financial resources at the rate of $50 per day per person. Also, to enter Serbia you will need to take out insurance with coverage of at least 20 thousand euros.

Last minute tours to visa-free countries are more popular than travel to countries with strict visa controls. And this is not surprising. Many Russian tourists, going on vacation abroad, have repeatedly encountered bureaucratic red tape associated with the need to obtain entry documents. Going through all the formalities takes a lot of time and effort, so when planning their next vacation, Russians are already consciously choosing visa-free tourist destinations. This not only allows you to save on the cost of the trip, but also saves your time and nerves. Let's talk in this article about which countries were included in the list of visa-free countries for Russians in 2017? We will also tell you where a visa will be issued under a simplified scheme?

Every year, more and more states demonstrate a loyal attitude towards Russian citizens visiting their territory. So, there are countries with simplified visa access; the visa issuance procedure takes place upon arrival, which is very convenient. Indeed, in this case, you initially will not have to settle issues with the travel agency and the consulate regarding obtaining permits. When going through control at the airport of arrival, it will be enough to present your international passport; in isolated cases, you will need to confirm the trustworthiness of your intentions and show a sample form of a tourist voucher or return air tickets.

When passing control, in addition to your passport, you may be asked to present a return ticket, voucher, health insurance, invitation and confirm your solvency with a certain amount of money. There is no universal visa-free period of stay for all visa-free countries, so each country resolves this issue separately. Usually the period is 30 days, in some countries – up to 90 days, sometimes – only two weeks.

Both visas are convenient and save a lot of time and nerves. Typically, to obtain a visa permit, you need to pay a fee and send scanned copies of the required documents.
