Is it possible to live in a tent in the city? Two weeks as a savage: How I left for the Crimea with a tent all alone How to make life easier in a tent

Opportunities for extreme overnight stay in Europe I have collected here. In this video, the guys filmed their overnight stays on a hitchhiking trip around Europe.

Legal or not?

The general situation in Europe is such that a person who has spent the night peacefully and gone further is looked at calmly even in countries where it is completely prohibited. The experience of friends confirms the calm attitude of the police, who can wake you up and ask you to leave an illegal place, advising the nearest hotel or hostel. In Scotland wild tourism is treated very loyally, in England And Wales tougher, but if you do not break the laws and do not interfere with anyone, they are unlikely to see crime in a quietly sleeping person. In France"life in tents" is not particularly clearly defined in the legislation and is usually treated with favor. Greece bans wild tourism, trying to get everyone into hotels and get more taxes. But, since the country is southern - you can always agree). In Bulgaria a man with a tent is a normal cultural program that is not prohibited by law, so you can still meet hippie settlements on the beaches. In Finland, Norway and Sweden- complete freedom of placement in public places. Legislation Estonia, Switzerland, Austria accepts wild tourism and is tolerant of people with a tent. In Spain you can place a tent in many places, for example, on the beaches.

Equipment

Your backpack must be light, otherwise travel and suffering will become synonymous very soon. I advise 10 kilograms without water and the weight of a backpack to be considered as a maximum. You need:
  • a good and light tent or bivouac bag;
  • lightweight, climate- and season-matched, maximum waterproof sleeping bag;
  • light, soft and "warm" karemat;
  • waterproof and reliable flashlight, batteries;
  • burner and dishes if you are going to cook yourself;
  • clothing and footwear according to the season and climate.

How to find a place to stay

I recommend:
  • private territories with the permission of the owner;
  • parks;
  • recreation areas;
  • suburban parking;
  • campuses;
  • zoos;
  • cemeteries;
  • beaches and river banks;
  • embankments;
  • bridges and road junctions.
I do not advise:
  • residential areas;
  • abandoned houses;
  • shopping malls;
  • factories;
  • warehouses;
  • office and administrative complexes.
It is better to choose the most public and natural places with the maximum level of culture and humanity. If the place is "chosen" by homeless people (some parks and entire squares in Europe) or you have a feeling of a criminal situation - don't go there, it can be dangerous even during the day. Trust your intuition when choosing a place and your instincts if in an emergency you need to leave it. How to spend the night without problems:
  • if possible, ask permission or advice, especially outside the city;
  • it is better to choose a place quiet, but not wild;
  • do not burn bonfires (making a fire is punishable by law in many European countries);
  • find a place before dark, shoot early in the morning;
  • do not leave rubbish;
  • "one night in one place";
  • consider what day of the week it is: there are more vacationers on Friday and Saturday;
  • in small groups and without noise;
  • keep a close eye on things if you are staying in a popular "wild" place.

Rent for 3 euros

It is very profitable for couples and large companies to rent an apartment on.

Insurance may be asked at the border

Here, quality insurance costs 7 euros. It's nice that this is a representative office of the Austrian company Grawe AG in Ukraine. Choose dates.

We have been asked so often how we travel with 4 children in tents. I'll tell you more about our life. :-)

The main assistant and lifeguard, this is our dry closet.
We certainly wouldn't have lasted long without him. In any campground, it is installed first.

Prefabricated tent, so even on the road in any steppe, field, etc. we have the right conditions for an emergency stop. :-) The bottom of the tent is covered with oilcloth, so that the tent itself, if necessary, can be used for its intended purpose. :-)

Even at the bases where there is no bathroom in the house, we do not have to shuttle every half an hour to the public toilet with each child, especially at night. (Well, street toilets are not always a pleasant thing).

By the way, if the room allows (and we try to allow it :-)), for the night the tent with the toilet moves into the house. The toilet has a special liquid, plus it closes hermetically, so there is no smell.

Now we still dream of a shower tent.

Accommodation options

The main thing we focus on is.
For many reasons, the financial side is not the only one. This option also adds mobility, we are less tied to the area and dates.
Assembling and disassembling does not take so much time, as children also have their own tasks.

We try to place the car, the tent and the "fast" tent in uncovered areas in order to isolate ourselves from the neighbors.

In the next photo - I already have a forest behind me, on the left - a fence. All! Chick-track - we are in the house. :-)

There are double rooms in the tent on the left and on the right. And in a huge vestibule we put an inner tent from another tent, so that we get a three-room apartment.

From the "adult" room offers a gorgeous view through the mosquito net. :-)

During the daytime, the vestibule remains free. Here you can stand to your full height, so it can be used for various purposes: a sunny umbrella in the heat, an ordinary umbrella in the rain, a kitchen-dining room when it's windy. (Sometimes even as a shower).

emergency option

(We arrived late to the place, we were very tired, we had to leave early). 2-3 people spend the night in a "fast" tent, the rest on fully unfolded seats in the car.
This is us on Crystal Mountain. Does it look like someone is sleeping there?

Absolutely, absolutely emergency option.
(If it is raining heavily, under which it is unrealistic to put up a tent or it is very cold).
We all spend the night just on half-folded seats.

True, I can’t sleep in this position for a long time, so we have photos at dawn in our collection.

From time to time we plan to stop at the bases to use the electricity. And just in case, we have addresses and phone numbers of bases where you can stay if the weather is really, really bad.

Nutrition

We have a gas stove, so, in principle, you can cook just like at home. The only condition is from what is available.

Is our camping menu: porridge, boiled potatoes, pasta with stew, soup with canned food, vegetable salad, boiled eggs - nothing special.

We had a good version of rice with a side dish (green peas, corn, beans in tomato). True, friable rice cannot be cooked, but everything is swept away anyway (especially if lunch is a little delayed). Here it is our unsweetened rice porridge with freshly cut stirrer.

Another find in the campaign - vegetable stew. Fast, tasty, inexpensive. For the pickiest eaters, it was called a fried salad and went with a bang.

For snacks on the go - fruits, vegetables, gingerbread, buns, crackers with melted cheese.

Our traditional dinner (although sometimes breakfast or afternoon tea).

Bread with fresh honey and real milk.
Simple, satisfying and useful.

Festive dessert. In principle, this is nougat, only in the heat it melted and went instead of warm ice cream. ;-)

What do we take with us: pot, frying pan, stove, disposable tableware, garbage bags, refrigerator.
We don’t even connect the refrigerator to the cigarette lighter, we just put 3 frozen bottles of water - and a cold place for food is provided for three days.

The main problem is what to do with the kids!

On the road, we all began to listen to audiobooks perfectly.
During this summer, we listened to 5 parts of Harry Potter on the road.
There is still time for compulsory reading: Yaroslav read program works, Genk finished The White Fang, Malina had Sladkov’s stories, Svyatoslav took The Chronicles of Narnia (of course, he didn’t master much, but he read it regularly).

Outdoor options. :

During the rain.

Near the water, everything is already clear what to do.

I liked building dams.

And, of course, the main entertainment.

A novelty of this season was running jumps from the pier.

And quite out of the unusual - a civilian holiday.

That is how we live. And autumn, winter and spring are just a time to process photos and plan your next trip.

The weather in St. Petersburg is beautiful, I want to walk all the time and stay at home as little as possible. To complete the experience, one could spend the night right on the street - in a tent. But is it legal? We asked representatives of large city parks, the press secretary of the Improvement Committee, and the head of the ECOM Expertise Center about this.

Marianna Tishchenko

Head of Communications Department
with the public TsPKiO them. S. M. Kirova

Perhaps in some parks you can pitch a tent, but definitely not in the Kirov Central Park. The fact is that we have strict opening hours: during the summer season, we close at midnight and open at six in the morning. The patrol service keeps order. And in principle, in the context of the Central Park of Culture and Recreation, it is strange to talk about a tent: this is a monument of federal significance, a specially protected natural area - not just a public garden or Sosnovka park. It can be compared with Palace Square: what will happen if a person who does not have money for a hotel, but who really wants to wake up with a view of the beauty, starts setting up a tent on the square? However, I am not aware of any cases where someone tried to pitch a tent on Yelagin Island.

Elena Komarova

press secretary of the committee
for improvement

The city has several categories of green areas. So, the zones of plantings for common use are under the jurisdiction of the Committee: no tents can be set up there. It is also not allowed to spend the night in tents in intra-quarter squares, which are run by municipalities.

Of course, you can not put up a tent on the Champ de Mars. But anything can happen there: it even happens that drunk people fry sausages on the Eternal Flame. Agree, the memorial is not a place for such things.

A tent in the wrong place is an administrative offense, and more specifically, a violation of landscaping.

300th Anniversary Park Administration

It is definitely not possible to spend the night in a tent in our park: this is a state budgetary institution with its own opening hours, we are not open around the clock - the park closes at 11 pm. If someone starts to put up a tent, a guard will come up to him and explain that this is not worth doing. But we did not have such cases.

Alexander Karpov

Head of the ECOM Center of Expertise

In parks, such a service as spending the night in a tent is not provided. But we have a huge city: please go to Gorelovo - put up a tent there. There are plenty of places on the periphery where this can be done and no one will drive it away - in the forests, on the banks of rivers: in the Kurortny and Krasnoselsky districts, in Kronstadt and Pushkin, even in the Kirovsky district - on Kanonersky Island.

There is no special line about tents in the laws. Old-timers recall that in the early 2000s, protesters set up tents in the garden in front of Smolny - and everything was fine. And now they will not be fined for a tent: they will simply drive them away. They will say, for example, that you can not knead the lawn.

Impatient! Idle, as it seemed to me, talk about buying a tent and camping in one day materialized in the form of a healthy portable house. One evening, Taegyu casually, as if it was about buying a carton of milk, threw somewhere at the wall: "I bought this .. bought a tent ..."
"Yes, sir!" I said, rounding my eyes meaningfully. "Why did it happen?"
- "Well, how. Camping is a family pastime, we will sleep on the street and strengthen family ties."
Knowing my husband, and realizing that simpler and cheaper is not our style, I began to figure out in my mind how much of our budget this tent had just eaten, and also why we suddenly have to set up a family mood in such a non-standard way for us.
Camping, fishing and other "game" is not for us. We need a shower twice a day and other amenities. That is, of course, we can suddenly rush somewhere. But this is such a rare experience that it does not require the purchase of special equipment at all. In such a case, it can be borrowed.
But men are like children. There was an idea - it is necessary to implement until it cools down.
However, this is all a hint. And the fairy tale will be about how for the first time in our lives we tried ourselves in a tent life.

You can probably climb into the wild forest with a tent somewhere in Korea. But most don't. Most often, they do what we do: they buy a bunch of expensive equipment and go to "zhang camping", that is, equipped camping. The photo above and below is the reason why we did NOT need to buy our own tent. Yes, at least because it can be safely borrowed. How many times we will arrange such trips is a big question. I doubt that there will be a dozen of them. So it is easier to settle in an already equipped and prepared folding house. Rent is about $80 per day. But there is everything. Tent two-story, furnished.

With dishes, grill, rice cooker and even dishcloths. In general, everything you need for life "in nature."

Shared campsites seemed to me very noisy cramped places where a bunch of people sit on each other's heads. Someone's children are yelling around, someone is frying something, cooking something, listening. And all this together is called "outdoor recreation closer to nature." Taegyu, knowing my wild dislike for the crowd, chose a quiet place, almost deserted. For which we thank him.
In the hollow, between the wooded mountains and the village beds, there is a camping site. Everything is equipped, and almost no one is there.

Nearby is a small mountain stream, and the nearest tents were from us, like a car in the upper corner of the frame. Yes, and there were only 3 of them occupied for the entire campsite.

Borrow, of course, everything is possible. But for Taegyu, this is no fun. The most relish is not even in nature, leaves, flowers, food under the open sky. The thrill is to try something new. Buy a bunch of accessories from scratch, assemble everything strictly according to the instructions by downloading the video guide to your phone, and feel like a new camper.
Kindergarten of course, but super seriousness in my opinion is even worse. So, we enthusiastically plunged into the new game.
By the way, there were more of us than usual. Because just at that time I was visiting a friend with her husband and little daughter. Naturally, we also dragged the guests into the forest and forced us to put up a tent there. This photo shows the process of deployment and unfolding.

Putting up a tent was not so difficult. Everything is thought out to the smallest detail. A much more ingenious process is to fold it back! But we don't know anything about this yet. As long as everyone is healthy. There was a bag. Became a house.

First residents.

The house was set up. We decided to start cooking. There are two trailers on the campsite. In one sink for culinary needs. Free access to any amount of hot and cold water.

We went in to wash some vegetables, and Taegyu also slipped me a small purse with the words: "Get some water." In the bag was a whole set of camping utensils for all occasions, including a spatula for laying rice and a folding ladle. All this fit in a very small brown case.

I got water. We are going to boil the first dish - ramen. Open fires are strictly prohibited in Korean forests. They are afraid of forest fires. Everything is only in the grill or on a gas burner.

Directly behind our tent is a stream, which I have already mentioned.

While dad is cooking, the children went to explore the territory.

Among others, they found an electric plow tractor.

And rabbits in a cage. Subsequently, they were quietly fed all of our salad. Rabbits seem to be able to eat without ceasing. Until they seem to burst.

Nearby, a hothouse with red pepper and a field, apparently flooded with rice, were also found.

I liked this river! And young greens around.

And amber water in it...

While we were climbing around the neighborhood, Daegyu had everything ready. Noodles with sausages.
The burner had to be fenced with children's books so that the fire would not be blown out in it and the heat would not dissipate.

We sit well...

I admire the leaves of red maples through the "windows" of the tent.

After dinner, it turned out that in our folding house there was also a bedroom.

The interior of the sleeping compartment. There are special floor mats.

I forgot to mention what was in the second trailer at the campsite. I mention: toilet and showers. Hot water available, I checked.

The children divided their time between hanging out in the river and hanging out next to the cage with the rabbits. We took badminton with us and a bunch of toys, but as a result, the day went by faster than we had time to use it all. Grilled meat for dinner.
Standard Korean set for meat: lettuce, perilla leaves, ssamjang sauce, rice, kim.

Chief roaster.
We did not stay overnight in the mountains. The next day there were things to do, and the child of a friend is still too small. But the pen test was successful. Even with the folding of the tent, we then managed. True, we almost lost a bunch of important screws and holders. But these are trifles. After all, they were found.
In general, we will camp as far as possible. While I liked it. Let's see how the first night goes.
