Places recently center. Gavryusha and Uncle Styopa

The idea of summarizing your impressions and presenting them to the public in the form of a list is not new, but still relevant. First, albeit subjective, here is a rating of those places in Moscow that impressed us. Secondly, it is always easier to navigate catalogs than trying to organize disparate information. So we decided, based on our impressions of the trip to Moscow, to compile the top 10 places in Moscow that are worth visiting in order to feel the atmosphere not only of modern Moscow, but also of old, pre-revolutionary Moscow, or even plunge into the very Middle Ages. Let's start the top 10 from the end and end with the top three.

10. River cruise along the Moskva River on a motor ship

A boat trip on the Moskva River can hardly be called a place or an attraction, but it is a river walk, like no other, that will allow you to get the first impression of Moscow or just feel the idle atmosphere of the walk. The motor ship departs from the pier at the Kievsky railway station and sails through the very center of the capital. In an hour and a half, you can see the main sights of Moscow, such as the Kremlin, Gorky Park, Bolotny Island, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and much more.

Choose a warm day for a walk and the river coolness will refresh and invigorate you, and the beauty of the capital will set the mood for the whole day.

9. Gorky Park

Gorky Park, a legendary park from the times of the Soviet Union. The park survived several eras and literally rose from the ashes like a phoenix. The Gorky Central Park of Culture and Recreation every day attracts hundreds of townspeople, from couples in love to real athletes. Representing a single territory with the Neskuchny Gardens. Cycle paths are laid along the Moskva River, which are enjoyed by cyclists, roller skaters and skateboarders. Gorky Park has a very long territory, and if you include in your route the Muzeon Park and Vorobyovy Gory, which are located on both sides of Gorky Park, then your walk will take all day.

8. Park Kolomenskoye

Kolomenskoye is not only a large walking park in Moscow, it is also a historical place where the most ancient examples of Russian architecture have been preserved. What is worth seeing with your own eyes the Church of the Ascension of the Lord, built in 1532, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Other ancient buildings, due to the fact that they were built of short-lived material, did not survive and were recreated from sketches. Such modern buildings are the palace of Alexei Mikhailovich and other buildings from the park of Russian architecture. There are expositions in the palace, including those demonstrating the life of the ancient Russian princes.

There is a beautiful apple orchard in the Kolomenskoye park, in the shade of the trees of which it is pleasant to walk. A wonderful panorama of the Moskva River opens from the hill, and after going down the hill you can take a ride on a river tram yourself. The house of Peter I was moved here to the Kolomenskoye park, next to which a monument to the owner of the house was erected. Kolomenskoye Park is a protected area, so you cannot walk dogs in the park.

7. Tsaritsyno - park and estate

Tsaritsyno is a unique place in every respect, where the history of several centuries grows before us in full splendor. And the point is not even that the royal estate in Tsaritsyno is more than two hundred years old, but that this estate was built with varying success during all this time. The history of the Tsaritsyno estate, as well as photographs, can be viewed in. In addition to all the architectural splendor, you will also discover a beautiful park with winding shady paths, a large pond and a light and music fountain, which is better to admire in the evenings.

6. Old Arbat

Arbat is certainly inferior to the Moscow parks Tsaritsyno and Kolomenskoye in its beauty and duration of the walk, but the walking distance from the main sights of Moscow puts Arbat on the sixth line of our rating. If you aim to plunge into the flavor of Moscow streets, then you will not find a better place than Arbat. Here you will find entertainment and restaurants and souvenir shops with nesting dolls and earflaps. In addition, Arbat is one of the oldest Moscow streets and it has absorbed several centuries of Moscow history. After reading, you can better understand which buildings should be paid close attention to.

5. Sparrow Hills

As a person who does not live in Moscow, I can say what Moscow is like for a tourist. And it does not seem to be a single whole city, but scattered objects that are connected to each other by branches of the Moscow metro. It is difficult to combine everything into a single picture when moving around the city underground. But I really want to understand Moscow as a whole, and not in fragments. That is why the observation deck on Vorobyovy Gory has crept into our top 10 places in Moscow.

This site offers a view, if not of the whole of Moscow, then of most of it. Located in the south-west of Moscow, a view of the center of the capital opens from the observation deck on Vorobyovy Gory. And even if it is not high, it is for this reason that the gaze can easily grasp the Stalinist skyscrapers, the Ostankino TV tower, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the Kremlin behind it, the monument to Peter I, by Zurab Tsereteli. The Luzhniki Olympic Complex is visible in the foreground. And it's really hard not to notice the modern residential complex Moscow City, which rises above the entire capital.

In addition to a beautiful view of Moscow, Vorobyovy Gory is a park area where you can walk and admire the Moscow River. In addition, you can walk from Vorobyovy Gory Park to Gorky Park. And the observation deck of Vorobyovy Gory itself is located just opposite the legendary Moscow State University named after Lomonosov. The monument to the founder stands opposite the entrance to the university.

Thus, a trip to the observation deck of Vorobyovy Gory can be regarded as an independent excursion, or you can combine it with a visit to other Moscow attractions. Well, you can get to Vorobyovy Gory by metro. The station is called Vorobyovy Gory and is located right on the bridge over the Moskva River.

3. Zamoskvorechye - Pyatnitskaya, Bolshaya Ordynka

The three leaders of our top 10 places in Moscow are opened by the walking route in Moscow. The route passes through the most beautiful and oldest district of Moscow - Zamoskvorechye, which includes Pyatnitskaya and Bolshaya Ordynka streets. What makes this route special is the walking distance from Bolotny Island, behind which the Kremlin is located. And the main highlight of this route is that literally two blocks from Pyatnitskaya Street in Klementovsky Lane is the main art gallery of Moscow - the Tretyakov Gallery.

And if you decide to lay your own walking route along Pyatnitskaya Street, then you must definitely include a visit to the Tretyakov Gallery. In the end, it was because of the Tretyakov Gallery that this route got into the top three of 10 places in Moscow where you can go. And it will be difficult to imagine how many treasures there are in the Tretyakov Gallery. Works of all the most significant representatives of Russian painting are collected under one roof. And even if you are not a fan of museum trips, a visit to the Tretyakov Gallery will not make you yawn. Pictures known from childhood to every child are kept here. Repin "They Didn't Expect", Savrasov "The Rooks Have Arrived", Serov "Girl with Peaches", Shishkin "Morning in a Pine Forest", Aivazovsky, Kuindzhi, Vrubel, Kramskoy and many more legendary names. All these pictures evoke awe and awe. Views of Pyatnitskaya Street and paintings of the Tretyakov Gallery v.

2. Cathedral Square of the Kremlin

The honorable second place in the rating goes to the very heart of the Kremlin - Cathedral Square. Cathedral Square of the Moscow Kremlin is one of the main attractions of Moscow. The oldest churches and buildings in Moscow are located here, after all, it was from here that the development of Moscow began. As the name of the square implies, there are several cathedrals and temples on it, each of which is of historical value. On Cathedral Square, there is a beautiful shady park where you can sit and admire the masterpieces of Russian architecture. In addition to temples and chambers on Cathedral Square, there are the legendary Tsar Cannon and Tsar Bell, which inspire real admiration for their appearance. Details about the attractions of Cathedral Square are written in the article

1. Red Square, GUM and St. Basil's Cathedral

The palm of our top 10 places in Moscow goes to Red Square. Red Square is the main square of our country; every year it attracts thousands of tourists and guests from abroad. Being on Red Square, you can feel real delight, and succumb to the general excitement that reigns here. Without exaggeration, Red Square is the most visited place in Moscow. In addition to the walls of the Kremlin, there is something to admire and what to visit. Red Square is complemented by the Cathedral of St. Basil the Blessed, without the multi-colored domes of which it is difficult to imagine Red Square. And opposite the Kremlin is the legendary GUM, a place that has ceased to be just a store, but has become the most real attraction of the city of Moscow. Details about the sights of Red Square can be found in the article.

Our Top 10 places in Moscow cannot pretend to be objective, if only because, as tourists, we also did not go around all the sights of the capital. But of the places that we visited, the 10 presented are the most optimal, in our opinion, for exploring the capital. Of course, to visit all 10 places, it will take at least a week, and this is if you combine some of them. In fact, visiting these places and walking around the city are designed just for a ten-day vacation.

On our trip to Moscow, we stayed at the Intourist Kolomenskoye Hotel. This is an excellent four-star hotel. And we got the number in it at a very modest price. The thing is that it is located on the Kashirskoye highway, a 15-minute walk from the Kolomenskoye metro station, and we booked a room in advance.

It is important to remember that hotels in the center of Moscow are in great demand and you need to book rooms in them, especially in summer, in advance. It is better to book a hotel at least 2-3 months before the travel date.

Last November, my wife and I went on an independent trip to India. We flew on Aeroflot flights from Yekaterinburg to Delhi with a transfer at Sheremetyevo. We specially bought tickets so that we could spend a day in Moscow and see the most interesting places in the capital. Today I will show you the route that I have taken my acquaintances more than 10 times: Red Square - Cathedral of Christ the Savior - VVTs (VDNKh). We will see a map of the tour, find out how to get to the sights and see photos.

The route of the self-guided tour of Moscow and the map of the location of interesting places

As I have already noted, the scheme described below has been tested by me many times in practice: we walked this route with people of different ages, weight and interests. Therefore, I can say with confidence that you will hardly be able to see more in one day: either you will be exhausted so that you will not have the desire to go somewhere else, or simply there will not be enough time if you have several hours at your disposal.

I usually start my excursion by visiting Red Square. Here we see the Kremlin, St. Basil's Cathedral, GUM, Lenin's mausoleum, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden. Further on foot we go to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, from the Patriarchal Bridge in front of which a stunningly beautiful view of the Kremlin towers opens. There is also a monument to Peter I.

By this time, the tourist was already quite hungry, so you can go to a small cafe "Pelmeni" near the Cathedral of Christ the Savior (address: Lenivka st., 6). In about 50% of cases, my fellow travelers no longer find the strength to move on and the excursion ends.

If the desire to see the sights of Moscow did not pass, we go down into the metro and go to the Vorobyovy Gory station, where in half an hour we climb the steep slope to the observation deck. It is located opposite the building of the Lomonosov Moscow State University. The marble parapet offers a wonderful panorama of the Luzhniki stadium, Moscow City, the Ostankino tower, Stalin's skyscrapers (the Ukraine hotel, the building on Kudrinskaya square and the Foreign Ministry building), the White House and the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in the distance.

In November 2016, my wife and I decided to make changes to the route of the excursion around Moscow and instead of Vorobyovy Gory went to VDNKh, where we planned to take a photo at the famous Friendship of Peoples fountain and the Worker and Collective Farm Woman monument.

How to get from Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo airports to Red Square

Before talking about our excursion to the sights of Moscow, let's discuss how to get to the center, by which I mean the Kremlin and Red Square. It is more convenient and simpler to go here by metro (I advise you to carefully study the scheme of the Moscow metro and take it with you on your trip).

To get to Red Square, you need to get off at one of the stations:

 • Revolution Square (blue line).
 • Okhotny Ryad (red line).
 • Library named after Lenin (red).
 • Alexander Garden (blue).
 • Teatralnaya (green route).

If you flew to Moscow at the Sheremetyevo or Domodedovo airports located in different parts of the capital, then you will get to the center along the green metro line. At the same time, from Sheremetyevo you can get to the Belorusskaya metro station (Belorussky railway station) by the Aeroexpress express train. I like this option with a train because you can easily calculate the travel time (it leaves every half hour, 35 minutes on the road). But the ticket price turns out to be quite high: 420 rubles for a one-way trip. When you are not in a hurry, ready to spend a little time in traffic jams for the sake of significant savings, then take a minibus number 949 (cost 75 rubles, operating hours - from 6:45 to 21:45) or bus number 851 (100 rubles, from 5: 37 to 00:49) and in half an hour you will reach the Rechnoy Vokzal station on the green line. From here you can get to Teatralnaya without a change.

From Domodedovo airport you can take Aeroexpress to Paveletskaya (Paveletsky railway station). The journey takes 45 minutes, the ticket price is 470 rubles. An economical way is to get to Red Square by bus # 308, which departs from a public transport stop 100 meters from entrance group # 2 and takes passengers to the Domodedovskaya metro station. Both Paveletskaya and Domodedovskaya belong to the green line, along which you need to get to the Teatralnaya stop.

The third airport is Vnukovo. A quick and expensive option to get from it to the center is by Aeroexpress to the Kievskaya metro station (Kievsky railway station). From here, along the blue line, we go to the stop "Ploschad Revolyutsii". The cheapest way: take bus 611 to the Salaryevo station on the red line. Probably, it is easier to start the route of an excursion to interesting places in Moscow by visiting the observation deck "Vorobyovy Gory", getting off at the stop "Universitet" and walking 2.5 kilometers towards the main building of the Moscow State University. Lomonosov.

I would like to say a few words about this way of getting to the Kremlin, like a taxi. At the airports of Moscow, as elsewhere in Russia, you will be greeted by a pack of hucksters offering to take you to the center at an inexpensive price. If you don't want to ruin your vacation and risk your life, don't agree. If you have money, go to the official counter and pay your fare in advance. In 2005, I witnessed an unpleasant situation: I lived for 2 weeks in the capital and had to meet a young colleague who was flying in from Yekaterinburg, with whom I was supposed to go to a meeting. I strictly forbade him to use taxi services, suggesting to get to the center by metro. At the appointed "X-hour" calls:

- I did not find where the Aeroexpress stop at Domodedovo. I go by taxi. The driver promised to give it up for a penny: for 100 rubles in total.

- You're crazy? Even in Yekaterinburg, travel from Koltsovo airport to the center costs 350 rubles, and here it is Moscow!

- Do not worry. It's okay. The taxi driver showed the price list - this price is indicated there ...

After 5 minutes he calls back: “What should I do? The cost is 100 rubles per kilometer ... "In general, long negotiations with the swindler, and as a result, I had to give up my cell phone and add more money to get to the metro ...

I myself found myself in a similar situation in Romania, in Bucharest. We got into the car, started off, the counter started spinning like crazy. We began to protest. The driver immediately blocked the doors, called the "assistants" on the radio ... Boarding, driving 200 meters and disembarking cost 10 dollars.

Once again: if you want to get to Red Square by taxi, pay at the prepayment counter or order a car in advance, since everyone has the Internet now. For the current train schedules to Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo and ticket prices, see the official website of Aeroexpress. For ways to get by bus, see the official websites of the Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo airports.

What sights we managed to see in Moscow in 1 day

We arrived in the capital on the morning of November 7, 2015. There was no point in going to Red Square, since a parade was held here in the first half of the day. We decided first to go to VDNKh (Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy, now called VVTs - All-Russian Exhibition Center).

As we left the VDNKh metro station outside, we see a rocket soaring into the heavens. This is the Monument to the Conquerors of Space, located at the main entrance of the exhibition center.

At the base of the obelisk there is the Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics. We are heading towards it, along the way admiring the view of the Ostankino TV tower.

We have a lot of time before the evening flight to Delhi, so we decide to see the museum exhibition. Here, tourists are presented with many exhibits, including satellites and rocket models, and you can also watch a documentary about how humanity conquered space.

In principle, grannies are not allowed to take pictures of museum exhibits for free. But, before I was caught, I managed to make several spy shots inside.

750 meters from the central entrance of VDNKh, you can see, probably, the most famous monument in the CIS - "Worker and Collective Farm Woman". Of course, we could not miss the chance not to photograph him too.

Now you need to take the metro and get to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Usually, the question of how to get to it is answered like this: walk from Red Square through Aleksandrovsky Garden, along Mokhovaya Street (in the area of the Lenin Library, you need to go to the other side of the road through an underground passage) and further along Volkhonka Street. The time for such a walk is 30 minutes.

11. Map with a diagram of how to get from Red Square to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and the Patriarchal Bridge.

But, as mentioned earlier, there was a parade in Moscow on November 7 and it was still useless to go to the Kremlin. We reached this attraction by metro (Kropotkinskaya station, red line). On the north-eastern side of the cathedral there is a small park with a monument to the Tsar-Liberator Alexander II.

The huge building of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior impresses with its gigantic dimensions (capacity - 10'000 people, a small district town can fit; height - 103 meters, like a 35-storey skyscraper; area of murals - 22'000 sq. M.) And decoration.

The building of the cathedral itself is a cenotaph (a symbolic grave, without burying the remains) of the soldiers of the Russian army who died in the Patriotic War of 1812 and in the Foreign campaigns of 1797-1806, 1814-1815. Directly opposite the Cathedral of Christ the Savior is the Patriarch Bridge over the Moscow River. On the other side you can see the building of the Red October factory, in one of the premises of which there is now a photo gallery named after the Lumiere brothers.

One of the most picturesque and recognizable views of the Moscow Kremlin opens from the bridge.

On the other side you can see one of the "Stalinist skyscrapers" (maybe Muscovites will tell you the name of this building).

Also, from the Patriarchal Bridge you can see the monument to Peter I by the sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, so revered by the residents of Moscow.

Having taken memorable pictures, we decide that the parade has already ended on Red Square and there are fewer people. We go on foot to the Alexander Garden. On the way, it's time to eat - in the cafe "Pelmeni" (address: Lenivka st., Building 6). Here, prices for incredibly tasty Yakut dumplings (with venison) and other yummy are quite affordable for Moscow.

So, from our list of attractions that you can see in Moscow, we have already crossed out the Museum of Cosmonautics, VVTs-VDNKh, the Worker and Collective Farm Woman monument, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and views from the Patriarch Bridge. We move to Red Square, taking pictures of the "remake" - a monument to Patriarch Hermogenes in the Alexander Garden on the way.

There is also a memorial architectural ensemble "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier". It was opened for the 25th anniversary of the defeat of the fascist forces near Moscow.

Finally, we got to Red Square - the main attraction for millions of tourists from Russia and around the world who came to see Moscow for the first time.

Let me remind you that on November 7, 2015 at 13:00, a solemn procession began here in honor of the 74th anniversary of the 1941 parade on Red Square in Moscow. Therefore, as never before, many tourists gathered, everyone wanted to be photographed against the background of the Kremlin and old military equipment.

By the way, how many times did I have to be in Moscow, but I never got to the Mausoleum. For your information: opening hours - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10:00 to 13:00.

Another attraction that can be seen on Red Square is St. Basil's Cathedral. Its full name: Cathedral of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos on the Moat. It was originally built by order of Ivan the Terrible in honor of the capture of Kazan.

A monument to Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky was placed next to the temple in 1931 (in general, it was opened in 1818). Before that, he stood in the middle of Red Square.

On this our strength ended and there was only one desire: to quickly sit down somewhere. In the evening, we did not want to risk checking the severity of Moscow traffic jams, so we went to Sheremetyevo by Aeroexpress.

You probably realized that going on such a long excursion around Moscow, you need to wear comfortable shoes - girls in heels will die. If you find yourself in the capital early and the desire to see interesting places is strong, but there is more time, then I can suggest an extended route with attractions, which I once walked through the capital: from morning to late evening.

 • Bolshoi Theater (Teatralnaya metro station).
 • Kremlin and Red Square.
 • Victory Park and the Battle of Borodino Panorama Museum.
 • Vorobyovy Gory observation deck near Moscow State University overlooking Moscow City.
 • All-Russian Exhibition Center (VDNKh), where the flower festival was held.

If you will be living in Moscow for a long time, I recommend going to Tula for the weekend (4 hours by train), where you can see the Tula Kremlin and go to Yasnaya Polyana (Lev Tolstoy's estate museum). It is absolutely delightful there in summer: meadows, century-old oaks, a lake with yellow water lilies. Interesting excursion!

Those tourists who want more comfort and thoughtfulness of their route around the capital can book an excursion. For example, check out Sputnic8's offerings.

Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, Australia

Want to see the largest collection of coral reefs in the world? Surprisingly, the ridge is over 1400 miles long. It is such a giant object that it can even be seen from space. Of course, the Great Barrier Reef simply could not fail to be included in the list of the seven wonders of nature. There, you can go diving, fully immersed in a one-of-a-kind display of underwater life.

Pyramids of Giza, Egypt

Amazing places in the world are able to preserve their original appearance, after several thousand years. Just think about these numbers!

Stonehenge, Amesbury, England

This place is shrouded in numerous mysterious legends, but, in fact, Stonehenge is just a bunch of 25 tons of rocks. True, the monumental boulders really leave an indelible impression on tourists. Be sure to book a tour to visit the center and admire the stunning glow of the setting sun at sunset.

Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

The world's largest salt marshes cover an area of over 4,000 square miles. Several ancient lakes are formed there, the salt of which becomes a powerful reflector during the rainy season. Efficient specular reflection is used even for satellite calibration.

Grand Canyon, Arizona, USA

More than a thousand years ago, nature created the Grand Canyon along the Colorado River. Being there, a person can never fully comprehend this unique sight. The massive stone walls span over 200 miles.

Antelope Canyon, Arizona, USA

Believe it or not, Antelope Canyon in Arizona is a scenic gorge that was carved by water millions of years ago. You know, the photos from there don't lie, but you can check it yourself. When sunlight hits each of the walls, different shades appear on the stones, creating a unique spectrum.

Easter Island, Chile

We continue our journey across countries and continents. Easter Island is the most remote inhabited island in the world. This place, like the English Stonehenge already known to us, also has numerous legends in its history. Nevertheless, the owners of the island offer their visitors a thrilling and exciting adventure.
