Vnukovo (VKO) is an international air hub in Moscow, located ten kilometers from the Moscow ring road. On an area of eight hundred thousand hectares, there are three terminal complexes (Vnukovo 1, 2, 3) for passengers and one cargo terminal (Vnukovo-Cargo).

This air site is famous for the fact that it is in Vnukovo 2 that it serves the flights of the President of Russia, as well as the airliners of other dignitaries. Vnukovo 3 is intended for business aviation, and is also home to Roskosmos airliners and planes of the Moscow government.

The carrying capacity of Vnukovo is over eighteen million people. The main share of passenger traffic falls on the Vnukovo 1 terminal complex. It is also considered a hub (technical base) for carriers: UTair, Russia, Rusline, Gazpromavia, I Fly charter flights and Pobeda low-cost airlines.

This air gate consists of three terminals (A, B, D). Terminal A began operation eight years ago (in 2010) and was recognized as the largest in Russia. Terminals B, D are in close proximity to each other and are connected by a common pedestrian zone.

Terminal A can only be accessed from a separate entrance, but in the coming years it is planned to be modernized, during which it is planned to combine this site with Terminal B, and dismantle building D.

Terminal A

The terminal building consists of five levels:

  • - 1 basement floor. Aeroexpress trains come here from the Kievskaya metro station. On the floor there are lockers, toilets, information desks, self-check-in kiosks.

From the basement floor you can get off the underground passage to the Vnukovo hotel complex, which is a fifteen-minute walk from the terminal. Vnukovo is a two-star hotel with single and double rooms. The hotel is equipped with a park area with a lake, flower beds, playgrounds.

Floor plan and basic infrastructure

From the railway terminal, there are exits to the arrivals area of the first floor, to public transport stops, to a multi-level parking lot and to the departure area of the second floor;

  • The 1st floor belongs to the arrivals area, connected to the basement railway terminal by escalators and lifts. In the hall there are three baggage claim desks, three information kiosks, two cafeterias, an airport taxi service, an unclaimed baggage room, two communication salons, air ticket offices, and a free passenger-police telephone.

In the right wing of this level, opposite the unclaimed baggage compartment, the procedure for registering weapons that the passenger wishes to carry is carried out. This service is located before the security checkpoint and is intended for those who have already arrived at the airport;

  • The main arrivals area is one level above the first floor. The hall is divided into two parts. The right one refers to servicing domestic flights, and the left one refers to international traffic.

This space does not have a variety of infrastructure (toilets, changing rooms, information desks for transit passengers). Here the check-in of transit passengers takes place, there are exits to the first floor for baggage claim and on the second floor in the departure area of a connecting flight;

  • 2nd floor - departure area. The most saturated hall for services and operations carried out here. The space is designed in the form of a vessel, in the narrow part of which all the main formalities for the departure of passengers take place.

There are eighty-eight check-in counters here. They serve passengers of both international and local lines. Access to the departure area is free. On the floor there are also terminals for self-check-in for the flight, information kiosks, bank branches, post offices, service centers, ticket offices, a cafe, a first-aid post, and a children's playroom.

There is baggage packing on the floor, and excess baggage payment kiosks are located next to the check-in counters. The infirmary can be found in the right wing of the complex, while the mother and baby lounges are on the left, next to the domestic Russian boarding gate.

It is also here that oversized baggage is checked in and passengers with disabilities are serviced. The Internet cafe can be visited on the right side of the terminal next to the communications salon and the pharmacy.

An infinite number of cafes, bars, duty free shops are located in the passenger boarding zone, where they get after passing through passport and customs control. Each zone has a business lounge;

  • The last floor is the third. It is busy with VIP lounges for business class passengers. There are also offices of major air carriers, cafes, restaurants, exits to domestic and international flights. On the same floor, the registration of the transported weapons for VIPs takes place.

The entire airport complex of Terminal A meets all international standards. It will also be convenient for passengers with disabilities, since there is not a single threshold in the building, a “smooth floor” system is provided at all levels, with smooth transitions, spacious lifts and ramps.

Terminal B has ceased operations since 2016, the airlines of this complex have been transferred to the site of Terminal A. But if you look at the diagram of the official Vnukovo website www.vnukovo.ru, you can see that Terminal B is now used as a separate building of the international passenger terminal of the VIP hall ...

Terminal D is being phased out. As of April 2018, it is used as a post-flight screening area for passengers on some domestic flights. The hall has a children's room with changing tables, comfortable cots for babies up to 7 years old, playgrounds, soft sofas for rest and feeding.

Other terminal complexes Vnukovo

Vnukovo - 2

This air complex is closed to ordinary citizens. You can get here as a passenger if you are a member of a government delegation. A special flight unit "Russia", subordinate to the Presidential Property Management Department, provides flights on all airliners.

A fleet of sixty-four aircraft of various modifications and capacities is based on the government air site. The terminal has been in operation since 1956. In 2009, a new building, Vnukovo 2, appeared, which cannot be seen due to increased safety requirements and a high metal fence.

Vnukovo - 3

These are several buildings designed to serve VIP passengers. Whipport Vnukovo 3 - this is the name of the Moscow city government complex. It is used for the reception and departure of delegations of the mayor's office and its guests.

Terminal Energia is an air zone of the Rocket and Space Corporation. Private business jets as well as elite charter flights land here. Next to it is ABT Vnukovo - 3. It is able to receive VIP - persons of private airlines or delegations in the amount of no more than fifteen people.

In the train cabin there are comfortable seats of various comfort classes, there is Wi-Fi. Departure interval - every hour, starting at six in the morning and ending at twelve at night. Vnukovo terminal - A, arrival level.

The first and second ground levels of the terminal are dedicated to the arrivals area, while the second has a transit office. The baggage claim area is on the ground floor.

Vnukovo Terminal - A, Aeroexpress station.

Lower level (underground) - exit to the Aeroexpress railway station. There are also left-luggage offices, check-in counters for passengers arriving from Kievsky railway station to Vnukovo airport by Aeroexpress.

Special conditions in the new Terminal-A are created for passengers with disabilities. In all the halls, the "smooth floor" system is maximally implemented.

Terminal-A of Vnukovo airport divided into two zones - domestic and international flights. Thus, a passenger arriving at Vnukovo airport on a foreign flight and traveling in transit across the Russian Federation has the advantage of an intra-terminal short connection.

Moscow Vnukovo International Airport is one of the largest air transport complexes in Russia. It ranks third in the country in terms of the number of passengers served. Currently, a terminal unique in its architecture and functionality is under construction here, which will replace the complex of outdated airport buildings. It also houses the first underground railway terminal in Russia, providing fast communication between Vnukovo airport and Kievsky railway station in Moscow. The recently completed section of the terminal was opened to passengers and is now serving domestic lines. Let's take a walk through the terminal and see what the passenger sees now, and what he will be able to see very soon.

A little help on Terminal A.

The project of the new terminal is being carried out by OJSC Metrogiprotrans. The project is based on the concept proposed by the German company Obermeyer. The total area of the Terminal is 250 thousand sq. m. The terminal has 4 levels.

On the first (underground) level there is the Vnukovo Airport railway station, which connects the airport with the Kievsky railway station in Moscow; the station project was also developed by Metrogiprotrans. Also on the underground level there are technical rooms and underground passages to the Terminal building, to the street and to the parking lots.

On the second level, there are the arrival hall, luggage compartments, cafes, shops, passport control and office premises. On the second level, there are connecting galleries connecting aircraft exits, transit lounges, passport control, arrivals and technical rooms.

The third level contains the departure hall and check-in counters for domestic and international flights, passport and customs control, a security check area, passenger areas with shops and cafes. There are 26 exits from the departure hall with bridges for boarding aircraft.
The fourth level is located on the mezzanines and bridges above the departure hall, where there are restaurants and cafes, departure halls for VIP and business class passengers.

The main architects of the project are N.I.Shumakov and L. Borzenkov.

Like many passengers arriving at Vnukovo Airport by Aeroexpress trains, we will begin our photo walk from the underground railway terminal.

1. Station "Vnukovo Airport". Please note: there is a safety chute between the rail for fallen passengers, as in the Metro stations.

2. The station resembles in many ways.

3. Exit to the lower level of Terminal A.

5. Station ceiling.

6. The station, as well as the rest of Terminal A, uses diffuse or reflected light, which gives a soft lighting.

9. On escalators, side lights are used.

10. The lobby is the same as in the subway.

11. You can buy a ticket for both the Aeroexpress and immediately on the express and the metro.

12. Lower level of Terminal A.

13. Architect of Terminal A Leonid Borzenkov and journalists.

14. Leonid Borzenkov.

15. An elevator connecting the lower level of the Terminal with the arrival / departure halls.

16. The ceiling of the lower level.

17. Second level of Terminal A: arrivals halls.

20. Baggage claim.

21. Cleaning.

23. Baggage claim / reception hall.

24. This staircase leads to the unfinished part of the Terminal, we get off there later.

And then we went up to the third level of Terminal A. This is the departure hall. It makes a lasting impression with its space. The high undulating ceiling with glass inserts and the unusual column-lamps, in which the light spreads through reflectors, evoke associations with some kind of tropical forest. The feeling of being in a closed room is completely absent. Mezzanines and bridges make it possible to use the space more efficiently: they house cafes, waiting and relaxation areas with sofas, as well as VIP rooms.

26. The third level of the Terminal.

30.On one side, the ceiling is lower ...

31. ... on the other - on the contrary. In fact, behind the advertising banner there will be a continuation of the Terminal, symmetrical to its part in the previous frame, and now there is the old building of Terminal D.

32. Reception counters.

34. Waiting room and exits to the aircraft.

35. And here I found the first cafe of the Mu-Mu chain which I liked. I liked it because it is forbidden to smoke in it, as in the entire terminal, in contrast to its urban options, which I always bypass, so as not to breathe in the tobacco stench and get a headache as a result. Well, the prices there, as in all the cafes of the chain, are democratic: for 300 rubles and a penny, I ate two salads, dumplings, drank juice and tea.

36. Riga and Vilnius are customary for domestic flights :).

37. Reception.

And now let's go to the part of Terminal A under construction, it still has finishing work. In the plan, this part has a teardrop shape and is located perpendicular to the station square and the already completed part. In the center of this wing is the trunk of a 40-meter tower for the dispatch control of the movement of aircraft and transport on the apron. Inside the hall, the trunk forms an elliptical space around it, where winter gardens and a food court will be located.

All flights (except for post-flight screening of individual flights) are serviced in the main terminal of the airport - terminal A... Post-flight screening takes place at Terminal D.

You can enter the terminal through the underground level of the terminal (directly from the Aeroexpress underground station), through the arrivals area from ground level (from ground public transport, from multi-storey parking lots) or through the departure area on the second floor (from a car overpass, entry to which is free ).

note that overpass parking leading to the departure area of Terminal A prohibited... Since the overpass is a public street in the city of Moscow, the traffic police, cars for automatic recording of parking violations and evacuators of city services work on it, and fines are also in force in accordance with the Code of Administrative Offenses of the city of Moscow. Vnukovo Airport does not manage the process of moving cars to city car parking lots and does not receive funds from the payment of fines.

Leaving the departure area(second level of terminal A) to the overpass closed in order to combat illegal parking and to reduce congestion at the entrance to the terminal. You will not be able to return to your car if you leave it on the overpass and enter the terminal. To park your car, please use one of the airport car parks.

To enter Terminal A from the Aeroexpress underground station, turn right after the glass doors of the station. However, due to the large influx of passengers during peak hours, a queue may form at the entrance. In this case, to save time after the glass doors, it is better to turn left, left again, go outside to the station square and enter the terminal through the first floor.

Passengers check-in is carried out at second floor terminal and ends automatically in 40 minutes before the flight departure time indicated on the ticket (for Turkish airlines flights - in 45 minutes). Check-in start time depends on the airline, but no later than two hours before departure.

Please do not be late for registration! The employees at the check-in counters do not have the technical ability to reopen the registration after its completion.

For saving your time we recommend to register electronically on your airline's website if it provides such a service, or through self-service terminals at the airport (available for flights of UTair, Russia, Turkish Airlines). You can also print your electronic boarding pass on a special printer located to the right of the boarding gate for domestic Russian lines.

We draw your attention to the fact that in accordance with international requirements, sound announcements about the beginning and end of registration are not made, and announcements about the beginning and end of boarding are made only in the landing galleries. Please check the information about flights on the scoreboard in the terminal or in the online scoreboard on our website.

The third floor of the terminal houses a cafe, a VIP lounge, a business lounge for international lines and airlines' offices.

The main waiting rooms are located in the boarding galleries of domestic and international lines after passport control. For the convenience of passengers, there are several
