How to get from suvarnabhumi airport to bangkok. Bangkok airport: we go to the city, to Pattaya or to other provinces. You can pay extra for travel

An overview of all possible ways to get to or from Bangkok airport - buses, trains, minibuses, taxis. There are a lot of options on how to get to the airport you need - choose your own!

Bangkok has two airports: Don Muang Airportintended mainly for domestic flights, and Suvarnabhumi Airportwhich accepts international flights.

Those who are impatient to find out how to independently and inexpensively fly to Bangkok, we invite you to read our detailed (very, very detailed), which reveals all the nuances of buying air tickets to the capital of Thailand.

How to get to Suvarnabhumi airport from Bangkok

Suvarnabhumi Airport began accepting international flights on September 26, 2006. This is Bangkok's new international airport, large and comfortable. It is called the main air gate of Thailand. The former airport, Don Muang, now receives domestic flights and low-cost airlines. You can get to Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok by commuter trains, buses and taxis.

Trains

The easiest way is to travel by trains (Airport Rail Link), which run from 6 am to midnight, but a little costly:

  • Suvarnabhumi Airport City Line - runs on the route Phaya Thai Station - Suvarnabhumi Airport Station and stops at six intermediate stations: Rajaprarop Station, Makkasan Station, Ramkhanhaeng Station, Hua Maak Station, Baan Tubchang Station and Lardkrabang Station. The ticket price depends on the number of stations and does not exceed 45 baht, the minimum price is 15 baht. Travel time is half an hour.
  • Suvarnabhumi Airport Express-Makkasan (Makkasan Express Line) - runs on the route Makkasan Station - Suvarnabhumi Airport Station. One-way ticket price is 90 baht, round-trip ticket - 150 baht. The journey takes 15 minutes.

If you need to get to another city, you can do this from Suvarnabhumi Airport: intercity buses run from 5:40 to 21:00, with the help of them you can leave, for example, from Bangkok Airport to Pattaya (No. 389; No. 9905 - North Pattaya , Jomtien Beach).

Taxi

If you need to leave directly from (or to) the hotel, you can always take a taxi. At the airport, metered taxis are available from the arrivals hall (Gates 4 and 7). You will have to pay about 300-500 baht. This option is suitable for those who travel with a company or do not want to bother with buses and prefer comfort.

Alternative option: order a car on the website - a driver with a sign will already be waiting for you at the airport. time is saved, no need to bargain with taxi drivers. You can also order a transfer from the airport directly to Pattaya.

Car rental at Bangkok airport

Perhaps the most comfortable way to travel is by renting a car. This can be done at the airport upon arrival or in advance on the Skyscanner Car Hire website. You can return the car before departure, which is very convenient.

Please note that free shuttles operate around the clock within the airport (because it is huge) - for more information see the airport website: www.suvarnabhumiairport.com/en/. Use the scheme of terminals and airport so as not to get lost :)

Be careful: Aeroexpress trains No. 1, 2, 3, 4 have been canceled since June 1, 2011. Also, bus number 556 no longer runs to the airport.

Travel accommodation. Look for hotels on the Roomguru.ru service - it compares the prices of various booking systems and finds the best one.

How to quickly get from the airport to Bangkok by train

Being the largest and one of the most modern airports in all of Southeast Asia, Suvarnabhumi got rid of its main drawback only in the 4th year after its opening. Until then, passengers, having the opportunity, did not have the opportunity to quickly and cheaply get to the center of Bangkok. It was in 2010 that special railway lines were launched for the convenience of passengers - the Airport Rail Link. At the same time, all those who arrived at the airport and departing from it were given the opportunity to choose from two trains at once, each of which has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Externally, both trains look the same, but the first train, called the City Line, is colored blue and follows from the airport to the final station of the Phaya Thai branch with all stops along the way, i.e. if you go to the final one, you need to get off at the seventh stop. However, in time all this will take only a little more than 20 minutes, so I would not say that this train does not allow you to get from the airport to Bangkok quickly. The fare to the terminal station from the airport is 45 baht (2017 data).

Express Line trains, painted with red stripes, follow to the fifth station in the direction of Makkasan and, as the name implies, do it without intermediate stops. At the same time, the cost of express trains is already 150 baht. Whether it is worth overpaying more than three times in order to get from the airport to Bangkok just 10-12 minutes faster is up to you. Personally, I do not use express trains yet, because I am not bothered at all by the large number of passengers on the "blue" line trains, and this is often called the main disadvantage of cheaper trains, because thrifty Thais use City Line for travel to work and on other matters.

Perhaps, during rush hour, city carriages are really cramped, but I was somehow lucky, because trains leave the airport half empty and there are always free seats, and I get back to the airport by other means of transport. It should be noted here that the final station of the more budgetary City Line trains - Phaya Thai - is also a Bangkok BTS station, so if your further journey involves moving around the city on BTS, choosing City Line is even more justified.

Another incentive that may tip the scales in favor of Citi Line is the 105 baht savings - more than enough to get from Bangkok to Pattaya quickly. I hope you have already read the article and know that you can get to this popular resort directly from the airport, without the need to move to the capital, from which Pattaya is farther than from Suvarnabhumi Airport.

If you plan to use the underground metro line in the capital, you can get to Makkasan Station by both types of trains from the airport. By the way, I recently came across information that in the next year or two Makkasan will become a station where you can check in for your flight and even drop off your luggage. In general, the metropolitan metro is a large separate topic, so if you want to know how to quickly and for little money move around the capital of Thailand, I advise you to read the articles and

If you decide to use one of the trains described in order to , you will have to go down to the lower floor of the airport. Beforehand, I advise you to go through the information stands in the arrivals area (2nd floor) and take at least one good one there, which will help you further move around the capital of Thailand. When I say the ground floor, I do not mean the first, but the zero, i.e. below ground level. When you go down to the first floor, follow the large blue signs that say “Train to City” and a drawing of a train.

When you go down the escalator, you will need to purchase a ride ticket. If you arrived in Thailand for the first time, then at this very moment you will have to get used to the fact that tickets will need to be purchased using special terminals, which are mounted in the wall next to the turnstiles. There shouldn't be any special difficulties. Select on the screen the final station of the route, the number of passengers and insert bills of 50 or 100 baht, after which you receive a ticket and change.

If something doesn't work out, friendly Thais or other more experienced tourists will always help you. I also advise you to get used to the fact that tokens and cards on the metro in Bangkok must be kept during the trip, because they must be lowered into the turnstile both at the entrance and at the exit from the metro (the system for differentiating the fare depending on the distance affects). Perhaps this will not seem particularly important given the short distance, but since the article claims to be complete coverage of the issue, I note that the carriages of both types of trains are well conditioned. At the same time, soft seats are installed in Express Line cars, and there are shelves for luggage on top. City Line trains have more budgetary plastic seats, and the luggage will have to be placed right on the floor of the carriage.

The biggest drawback of the Airport Rail Link is its uptime. Get from the airport to Bangkok by train and back is possible only from 06-00 am to 24-00 at night, i.e. if your plane arrives in Suvarnabhumi after 23-00 in the evening or departs earlier than 08-00 in the morning, you will have to either wait a long time at the airport, or use other types of transport, which I described below.

I want to remind you right away that you can cheaply get from Suvarnabhumi Airport by minibus to the famous Khaosan Road in the historical part of Bangkok. You can find information about this method on the page: In order to get to one of the points of interest in Bangkok by bus or minibus, you must first get to the Public Transportation Center, which is located near the airport. This can be done on the free airport shuttle bus (shuttle bus), which departs from Gate 5. Next, you need to change to one of the public transport routes, the decoding of which is given below.

Bus number 549. Suvarnabhumi - Min Buri;
Bus number 550. Suvarnabhumi - Bang Kapi;
Bus number 551. Suvarnabhumi - Victory Monument;
Bus number 552. Suvarnabhumi - On Nut
Bus number 552A. Suvarnabhumi - Sam Rong
Bus number 553. Suvarnabhumi - Samut Prakan
Bus number 554. Suvarnabhumi - Don Muang airport (Suvarnabhumi - Don Muang)
Bus number 555. Suvarnabhumi - Rangsit
Bus number 558. Suvarnabhumi - Central Rama 2 (Suvarnabhumi - Central Rama 2)
Bus number 559. Suvarnabhumi - Future Park Rangsit

All designated routes of buses and minibuses depart from the bus terminal during the day at intervals of about 20 minutes, while reaching the final stop in 1-2 hours. It is difficult to predict the exact time of arrival, because the speed of their movement strongly depends on the current traffic situation and the presence of traffic jams. Personally, the option with buses did not seem particularly attractive to me when there are fast and comfortable trains. But if you are interested in places in Bangkok that can be reached directly by buses and minibuses from the airport, then the option can be considered. I also remind you that intercity buses (to Trat, Pattaya, Nongkhai, Rayong, etc.) leave from the bus terminal (Public Transport Center).

How to get to Bangkok from the airport by taxi

For those who are intimidated by some of the difficulties of a regular taxi in Bangkok, I can advise an excellent international one. You can order and even - if you want - pay online (in whole or in part) for a taxi in advance, after agreeing on the route and price. When you arrive in Bangkok, already in the arrival area of \u200b\u200bthe airport, you will be met as a VIP by a driver holding a sign with your surname. Then you just follow the driver to the car and get to your destination (not necessarily in Bangkok, by the way). As you can see, the option is simple and convenient, at any time of the day. But in some cases, such a taxi will be slightly more expensive than a regular taxi.

In any case, a taxi from the airport will be the most expensive, but also one of the fastest ways to get from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Bangkok. And at night - and in the only possible way. The easiest and safest way to find a taxi upon arrival at the airport is to descend from the arrivals area (2nd floor) to the first floor of the airport and follow the Public Taxi signs to the official counter, where a receipt is issued indicating your destination. If several more flights arrived in Bangkok at the same time, there may be a small queue of passengers at the taxi stand, but it moves fast enough and you do not need to be afraid to get stuck in this queue for a long time.

When ordering a taxi, it is desirable to have basic knowledge of English, but I think if you just say the name of your hotel or the street where it is located, there will be no problems with understanding. And the amount you need to pay will simply be written on a piece of paper or calculator. By the way, in the article I described in detail why it is not worth changing large sums of money at the Bangkok airport (you can read if you want to save money). The receipt given to you at the check-in counter should be given to the taxi supervisor. He will take it from you and exchange it for another receipt, which will indicate all the details of the upcoming trip.

Also, don't be surprised or alarmed to be cheated on when asked to pay the airport special tax, currently THB 50 (the amount a taxi driver pays to enter the airport arrivals area). When boarding a free taxi, the driver may ask you to look with one eye at the receipt issued to you. Just do not give it away for good, because this is a guarantee that you will be able to find a taxi driver in case of any trouble (for example, when you forgot something in the taxi). Let me remind you that official taxi services are required to use a counter (taxi meter) while driving. As a rule, taxi drivers from the official airport counter do not need to be reminded to turn on the meter, but if you notice that the meter is not working, you should remind the driver about it.

The fare for landing in a Bangkok taxi is 35 baht, while the amount includes the first 2 kilometers. When traveling by taxi from the airport to Bangkok, you will also have to pay for the toll road. But the amount there is small (from 25 to 45 baht, depending on the distance and time of day), while you are almost guaranteed to avoid traffic jams that happen on free roads. The specified toll will have to be paid twice (at two points), while the required amount will be shown to you on an electronic scoreboard and printed on the receipt after you pay the toll.

As a result, the cost of a trip from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Bangkok will cost you from 300 to 500 baht, taking into account travel on the toll road, a 50-baht tax at the airport and a small tip to the taxi driver (the last point is not at all necessary, but if you liked the service, you can thank taxi driver with a small amount of 10-20 baht). When changing money at the airport, I advise you to ask the exchanger for at least a few small denomination notes (20-50 baht each). By the way, large bills can be exchanged for smaller ones at the points where the toll road is paid. Small bills are needed so that the taxi driver does not resort to the well-known trick with no change.

In a slightly more complex way get from the airport to Bangkok is the transfer on a free airport bus to the Public Transport Center terminal already mentioned in the article, where you can always find free taxis. This method allows you to save money already due to the fact that you do not have to pay an airport tax of 50 baht. I hope my work will not be in vain and after reading this far from small article you will clearly understand all the ways that will allow you to get from the airport to Bangkok without any problems, where you plan to relax for a few days or go from the capital to other resorts of the country.

Bangkok is the capital of the Kingdom of Thailand with a population of 6 million. Moreover, this place is the most visited place among tourists. Fans of seafood, azure sea and relatively inexpensive rest abroad flock here from all over the world. The passenger turnover indicator for 2016 reaches almost 45 million people a year. Bangkok ranks third in this indicator among Asian countries. Almost all tourists get to this resort by flight. Therefore, the first thing that tourists worry about is how to get from Bangkok airport to Bangkok.

Since the number of passengers that flies daily sometimes exceeds thousands, it is very difficult for one airport to cope with international and domestic flights. Therefore, there are two airports 37 kilometers from the center of Bangkok:

  1. Don Mueang Airport - This is an international airport located in the northern part of the city, initially it was the only airport that took all flights on itself. The building consists of two floors, the first floor is the arrival hall and food court, the second floor is the waiting room. When the growth of passenger traffic began, a new international air transport hub called "Suvarnabhum" was built to help the airport nearby. From this airport there are flights to Phuket, Ko Chang, Samui - these are the most visited resorts in Thailand.
  2. Suvarnabhum opened its doors in 2006 and is now Bangkok's main airport. All international and charter flights arrive there, and Don Mueang took over all domestic transportation and rail links with Bangkok.

Don Mueang Airport

How can you get from the airport to the city

From Suvarnabhumi Airport to the city you can get there without any problems. The fastest way to get from one destination to another is by commuter rail. The company that provides these services is called the Airport Rail Link. If you use them, you will easily find yourself in the heart of Bangkok:

  • SA Express;
  • SA City Line.

In addition, you can get there by the following types of transport: taxi and public bus.

Traveling by rail: SA Express and City Line

By underground transport to the center of the capital of Thailand, you can go along the railway line, through the Makasan station, which is a small air terminal in Bangkok, located 10 kilometers from the airport. The time you spend on this transport will depend on the type of flight:

  1. The express train route consists of only two stops: Suvarnabhumi Airport and Makassan. A train travels 34 kilometers in just 15-20 minutes. Traffic opens at 06:00 and this express train runs until 00:00. The interval of movement is 10 minutes. At this station, you can change either to the underground metro or use the air transportation service. It is convenient to use this type of service when the flight arrives at rush hour and the whole city is in traffic jams. Trains on the air rail travel at 160 kilometers per hour. The price of one ticket is set at a fixed rate - 150 baht (75 rubles). The train includes 3 carriages; in one trip, the train can carry 170 passengers.
  2. For tourists planning to make a stop at one of the city's stations, it is recommended to take a ticket for the City Line. This is another type of train, the path of which connects the airport and one of Bangkok's stations - Phai Thai. In 30 minutes, the transport covers 28 kilometers and makes 6 stops.

This option will save your finances, since the price of one ticket costs from 15 (7.5 rubles) to 45 baht (23 rubles). The cost of the ticket depends on the number of stops made.

Taxi

The most convenient way to get from Bangkok airport to the city center is by taxi, it is a relatively inexpensive and safe way. To order a taxi, you do not need special skills and abilities, but if you do not know a few nuances, then you can stumble upon scammers, of which there are a great many in Thailand. The most reliable and proven way is registration at the counter with the inscription "order a taxi" in the airport building. The algorithm for your actions is as follows:

  1. Proceed to the street taxi parking area. You will recognize the place by the large crowd of people, but do not be alarmed, the service is very fast.
  2. Tell the taxi employee where you wanted to go and get a receipt.
  3. The receipt must be handed over to the taxi administrator and a 50 baht commission must be paid. After that, you will receive a ticket with the indicated car number and other details of your taxi.
  4. Proceed to the indicated taxi, show the receipt to the driver, but keep it with you until the end of the trip. In case of disputable situations, it is this paper that will guarantee your protection.

Airport taxis often try to cheat and do not turn on the meter on the way. This is done in order to earn as much money as possible for you. Especially if you are stuck in a traffic jam, make sure that the meter works. If the driver refuses to put your request into action, you have the right to go out and find another mode of transport.

At your request and for an additional fee, a taxi employee can travel on the toll road, this will cut the time by about half. The amount for using the toll road will be printed on the check at the exit from the motorway. If you are satisfied with the taxi service, you can leave a little tip.

Do not forget to exchange large bills for small ones at change points before leaving the airport.

The cost of the trip will cost 250-400 baht (from 125-200 rubles). There is a similar counter at Don Mueang Airport. Due to the greater distance from Bangkok, the cost of the trip will be 100 baht more expensive.

Public transport

The route of your way to the city can be laid using public transport. Buses run from both airports. There is one flight that runs every hour, and there is no charge for using it. The beginning of the first flight: 05:00, the last - 23:00. The movement is carried out on a high-speed road. A free shuttle bus will take you to a public transport stop. The transfer of tourists from the airports to the final routes will take from one to two hours, depending on the traffic congestion. Flights depart every 20 minutes. The following minibus numbers go from Suvarnabhumi Airport to the city:

  • Bus 549 will take you directly to the Min Buri hotel complex;
  • 550 - terminal station - Bang Kapi;
  • 551 - follows to the bus station in Bangkok;
  • 552 - the terminal station of the Golden on Nat three-star hotel chain;
  • 554 - the way to Don Muang Airport;
  • 558 - to the large shopping center Rama.

Buses from Don Muang Airport travel from the bus stop on the right side of the bus terminal. The following flights are sent to the city:

  • 29 follows to the railway station;
  • 513 goes to Ekamai station;
  • 59 goes to the old part of Bangkok city (Rattanakosin).

From Don Muang Airport by Rail

We have considered the options for moving from Suvarnabhumi Airport, and now we will tell you how to get from Bangkok Airport to Bangkok. It will be about the old air transport hub - Don Muang. In addition to public transport, there is an option to leave by train, but this is a rather dangerous activity.

There is no route schedule, trains run irregularly, and there are a lot of homeless people in the carriages. A train follows to the Ekamai railway station, located in the eastern part of Bangkok. Travel time is about 1 hour, plus a possible delay in the arrival of the train at the departure station.

In contact with

Despite the fact that Bangkok is a metropolitan city with many one-way, small and dead-end streets, a taxi in Bangkok works with a bang and it is a really effective form of transport. Starting from the trip from the airport upon arrival. After all, usually taxi drivers like to separate tourists at once and airports and train stations are famous for such "hospitality". And in Bangkok, having arrived at Suvarnabhumi airport, you can safely go to the taxi stand, show a printout with the hotel address and get in line.

Meter tariff

Taxis in Bangkok are supposed to follow the meter. This is called Meter and is written, as they say, right on the forehead, that is, on the roof. If you go on the meter, then in a long traffic jam you can insist rubles, some way, for 200-300 rubles, and then if you go far. The main thing is to tell the taxi driver before boarding, or rather to make sure that he is lucky according to the meter. So just ask him "Meter?" and if he nods in agreement, feel free to flop into the back seat.

Here is a table of the cost of a taxi in Bangkok depending on the distance. There, these tariffs hang right on the backs of the front seats of the car, and everything is transparent and understandable.

Taxi fares in Bangkok by mileage.

Fixed price

Sometimes taxi drivers drive at a fixed price to specific objects. Typically these are airports, train stations and neighboring cities like Pattaya, for example. According to the table in the photo below, which I photographed in a taxi, you can see the prices. For example, the cost of a taxi to Suvarnabhumi Airport is fixed at 450 baht per hotel in Khao San.

If you do not agree with a fixed price, by the way, it is often announced at the counters in hotels, you can go outside and stop any other. There are many taxis in the city, so a little patience and go by the meter.

How to explain to a taxi driver where to go

It often happens that Thai taxi drivers know the name of the place where you need, whether it is a hotel or a landmark, only in their own language. It is clear that you cannot clearly and without an accent explain everything where you need it. Therefore, here I have some advice for you:

  • If you just arrived and you need to get to your hotel, take a printout of your reservation from the hotel booking systems in the language of the country, for example, booking com allows it.
  • If you have already settled in the guest house, then just take a business card at the reception.
  • If you need to get to any other place, then either find this point on the google map and make a print screen of the screen if your phone allows such manipulations, or again, ask someone who understands English to write the name in Thai.

Taxi from Suvarnabhumi Airport

Do not be afraid of high taxi prices at Suvarnabhumi Airport. But if it is absolutely scary, you can ask the price and.

Here, the fare is paid only by the meter, the main thing is to make sure that the figure announced to you and written on the check is final. Upon arrival, they tried to bribe me for allegedly getting into a taxi, which is above the counter, they say, it only counts the fare. This is not the case, they immediately add to the taxi.

The taxi stand is located on the ground floor at gate 8. You tell the girls at the front desk the address or show the printout or even the name of the hotel, if you know it, and she writes the taxi drivers its name or address in Thai.

The girls in blue on the right are the taxi check-in at the airport.

Airport transfers in Bangkok

In addition to a taxi from the airport, you can also take a transfer, which can also take you to the desired address at a fixed price. Moreover, the transfer will be waiting for you at a specific time and you can choose the type of car.
