The Chairman of the Federation Council visited the transformed buildings and canteens of "Artek" and highly appreciated the work done in the camp.

On June 5, the Chairperson of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko visited the Artek International Children's Camp. “How prettier he is, how he has changed,” the politician said.

To revive the camp after the annexation of Crimea to Russia, 10 billion rubles were allocated from the federal budget of the country, which significantly changed its appearance. Residential buildings were rebuilt, the school was repaired, new sports grounds appeared, the infrastructure was improved and the beaches were equipped.

New cozy canteens appeared, more like modern cafes with bright decor. In them, children are fed five times a day, and the meals are organized according to the principle of a buffet: vacationers themselves choose what dishes they want. Also, there are more vegetables and fruits in their diet, due to which the average daily calorie content has been increased by 20-25%.

Interest in the camp on the part of adolescents from other countries does not subside. The head of "Artek" Aleksey Kasprzhak said that about one and a half thousand children from abroad have already visited here this year. “The last people I spoke with were children from Australia,” he said. Children from all over Europe, Syria, DPR and LPR rest here. Together with them, at the moment there are more than 3.5 thousand pupils in the camp, and in just a year it is planned to accept 40 thousand people.

Together they study in children's art studios, sports clubs, specialized teams and educational projects. “It is especially pleasant that this work pays great attention to the Russian language and literature,” stressed Valentina Matvienko.

After the excursion, she summed up: “We saw what buildings the guys live in, how they eat. There is no better international children's center in the world. Both in scale and in the content of the work. A team of wonderful counselors and educators is gathered here. "

She also appealed to the inmates of the camp: “All conditions have been created for you here for training, education, recreation, health improvement, creativity. "Artek" today has truly become the territory of a happy childhood. "

A little over two years after Vladimir Putin made the decision to revive the Artek children's camp, large-scale changes have taken place here: solid residential buildings in sunny colors have been rebuilt, the school has been renovated, modern sports facilities have appeared, and new cozy canteens have appeared. Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko spoke about the revival of the Artek traditions yesterday at a meeting with the pupils of the children's center.

Children in the ceremonial uniforms of their camps - "Lazurny", "Lesnoy", "Khrustalny", "River", "Yantarny", "Morskoy", "Ozerny", "Cypress", "Polevoy" - greeted the delegation of the upper house of parliament warmly. Then the ceremony of reviving the Artek horn took place, now it will sound every noon on the territory of nine camps that are part of "Artek". Valentina Matvienko, Minister of Education Olga Vasilyeva, as well as People's Artist of Russia Mikhail Turetsky sang the song "Solar Circle" together, each unit received a gift from the Federation Council.

Matvienko noted “how prettier, how“ Artek ”has changed.“ All conditions have been created for you here for training, education, recreation, health improvement, creativity, ”she said, addressing the children. - "Artek" today has truly become the territory of a happy childhood. "

Large federal funds have been invested in the revival of the camp, and the country's authorities are ready to invest more in order to complete the construction of all the planned facilities.

The sanctions that Crimea found itself under after its return to Russia did not affect the development of the camp and the interest in it on the part of children from other countries, Matvienko said, answering a question from RG. Over the past two years, children from almost 50 countries have rested in it, including from the families of the dead Syrian military, children from the DPR and LPR, "who found themselves in a blockade in terrible conditions," the senator stressed. "Children from Europe rested here. The sanctions, fortunately, do not affect the strengthening of children's friendship, joint recreation and creativity," she added.

This year, about 1,500 children from abroad have visited "Artek", said the head of "Artek" Aleksey Kasprzhak. “The last people I spoke with were children from Australia,” he said. According to the director, children from other countries go to Crimea "who have an interest in the Russian language, Russian history, and participate in Russian competitions." "Their families, choosing between politics and the interests of children, absorb the interests of children. I think this is a good example of soft diplomacy," he added.

Now in "Artek" there are more than 3500 pupils, and in total this year it is planned to accept 40 thousand people. According to Olga Vasilyeva, in the future it is planned to increase this number to 100 thousand.

NOVO-OGAREVO, 27 March - RIA Novosti. Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko proposes to give the Artek camp, located in Crimea, the status of an International Presidential Children's Center.

"We believe that he (" Artek ") should preserve its uniqueness as a center of interethnic communication for children of the CIS countries, far abroad and, of course, our best guys, where we can prepare future leaders from them," Matvienko said at a meeting of the Russian President Vladimir Putin with the Council of the Upper House.

A number of regions of eastern and southern Ukraine, as well as Crimea, did not recognize the legitimacy of the Rada and decided on the possibility of holding referendums on the future fate of the regions. In Crimea, a referendum on the status was held on March 16, according to its results, 96.77% of voters who took part in the vote, spoke in favor of the republic joining the Russian Federation.
