How to get citizenship of different countries?

The term "citizenship" itself implies the right to enjoy all the benefits of a particular country, to become its full citizen. That is why the procedure for obtaining citizenship is often either very complicated, or very long, or very expensive. However, read for yourself.

There are several ways to acquire citizenship:

  • birth in the country;
  • large investments in the country's economy;
  • by inheritance (rare form);
  • the presence of parents or grandparents in that country;
  • marriage to a native;
  • religious beliefs;
  • obtaining citizenship as a result of long-term residence within the country;
  • for certain services to the state;
  • when changing the borders of states;
  • the transfer of the population of any territory from one citizenship to another in connection with the transfer of the territory.

US citizenship

You can become a US citizen in the following cases:

1) Citizenship as a result of birth in the country. Even if the child's parents were in the United States illegally, their child acquires United States citizenship automatically. True, he will have the opportunity to call his parents or closest relatives only after he reaches the age of 21 and in the case of a permanent stay in the country. American citizenship can also be obtained by a child born in another country, but from a US citizen.

2) Citizenship is given to persons legally residing in the country for 5 years. But if the person wishing to obtain citizenship is married to an American citizen, this period is reduced to 3 years.

3) Investment in the American economy from 500 thousand dollars. This path involves the issuance of a Green Card, after which you need to open a business in any of the states (at least 10 jobs). In this case, the investor will receive a permanent residence permit in two years.

4) Service in the US Army. Serving in the army gives the right to file a petition after a year and exempts from paying the necessary fees.

British citizenship

British citizenship can be obtained on several grounds:

1) Marriage with a resident of this country. In this case, citizenship is acquired after 3 years of marriage.

2) Work in England for at least 5 years. After that, a minimum of 1 year of residence in the status of a resident (Permanent Residence). At the same time, during the 5-year period of residence, you must be abroad for no more than 450 days.

3) Legal residence for 10 years. After obtaining permanent residence in the UK (residency) for another 1 year;

4) Illegal residence for 14 years. Then obtaining the status of a resident for 1 year, while the presence of deportation warrants is unacceptable.

5) Children born in the UK from resident parents (or one resident parent) are automatically granted citizenship. Children born to resident parents also receive citizenship. But if the child was born during the period when the parents had a long-stay visa, then he will not receive citizenship.

6) Investment in the UK economy of at least £1 million. Of this amount, only 250,000 can be spent on the purchase of real estate, the restthe investor must spend on government bonds.


Russian citizenship

With the introduction of amendments to the law in 2014, which determines the procedure for obtaining citizenship, some groups of migrants received the right to become a citizen of the Russian Federation under an accelerated procedure. First of all, this concerns those migrants who are fluent in Russian and permanently live in Russia. Foreigners whose ancestors lived in the possessions of Tsarist Russia or the Soviet Union within the state borders of the modern Russian Federation can count on the accelerated procedure under the new law.

The following persons will be eligible for the expedited procedure:

1) Born in the Soviet Union or having the citizenship of this country;

2) Trained in the Russian Federation or former Soviet republics;

3) Having family ties with a citizen of the Russian Federation.

If there is no opportunity to obtain citizenship under the accelerated procedure, then it can be obtained in the general manner. To do this, you need: a previously issued residence permit and permanent residence for more than 5 years in the country from the date of issue, a legitimate source of income, renunciation of existing citizenship, knowledge of Russian and a willingness to confirm this during testing.

German citizenship

To become a citizen of this country, you must:

1) Have a total legal period of stay in within the country at least five or eight years (depending on the chosen immigration program).

2) Marriage to a German citizen, which allows you to get the opportunity to become a full member of German society. But this requires legal residence in such a union for at least three years within the country.

3) Born in Germany. Wherein one of the parents must have citizenship and childbirth must be within the state. Or when both parents have the right to permanent residence and the birth was within the territory of Germany. If the parents do not yet have German citizenship, but have the opportunity to obtain permanent residence, they can apply for recognition of the citizenship of their child, provided that the birth took place within the country. The right to citizenship by birth will not have the child who was born when his parents were simple tourists or guests of the country.

4) Business immigration. Obtaining German citizenship is possible through business immigration. Having created your own business or bought a ready-made one, investing a significant amount of investment in the development of the country, you can get the right to permanent residence without knowing the language and with your whole family.

5) EU Blue Card. It can only be obtained by qualified specialists with special education. This category allows, if desired, to quickly obtain German citizenship. But you can get this document only by special invitation and on condition that the employer cannot find the appropriate level of specialists in Germany. At the same time, the applicant must have a diploma that will be recognized in Germany and in the EU countries, or he must have five years of experience in a special field where it is quite difficult to find specialists.

Australian citizenship

There are several ways to obtain Australian citizenship. Moreover, in some cases it is awarded automatically, while in others it also needs to be earned.

Greece. This country issues a five-year residence permit to buyers of real estate. The cost of ownership must be at least 250 thousand euros. The right to obtain a residence permit extends even to the family of the investor.

Türkiye. If you have any real estate (even an apartment worth 45 thousand euros), you can get Turkish citizenship.

Countries where it is almost impossible to obtain citizenship

UAE. Foreign men will not be able to become a citizen of the UAE, but foreign women have such an opportunity. To do this, you need to officially marry a citizen of the UAE, live in the country for 10 years, renounce the citizenship of your native country and get approval from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Everyone else needs to live in the UAE for at least 30 years - it doesn’t matter how much real estate the migrant buys by then and how many people he can employ.

Kuwait. Even marriage and the birth of children in the country does not give the right to become a citizen of this state. Passports here are bestowed by the emir himself. Once a year, he can consider no more than 20 applications for citizenship. At the same time, a foreigner can count on such mercy only for really special merits.
