How to check the readiness of a Russian citizen’s passport

There are two types of main identity document on the territory of the Russian Federation. Passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation and a foreign one. The procedure for obtaining both certificates has been simplified in recent years. Therefore, it is very important to know all the new information about what papers are needed to receive and how to check the readiness of the passport.

A Russian is required to have an identity card upon reaching the age of 14, 20, 45 years. The certificate must be received no later than 30 days after each of the specified age categories.

To obtain a Russian Federation citizen certificate, the following documents are required:

  • Application form 1P.
  • Birth certificate.
  • 2 photos size 3*4.
  • Confirmation verifying citizenship of the Russian Federation.
  • Receipt for payment of state duty.

Where is it possible to obtain a Russian passport?

These documents must be delivered to the FMS office at your place of residence or temporary registration. After accepting and checking all the papers, the service employee is obliged to provide information about the readiness of the certificate.

If necessary, a temporary identity card can be issued (for a maximum of 2 months).

Waiting period:

  • 10 days, if a citizen of the Russian Federation applied to the FMS department for registration, on time, without delay.
  • 2 months if the applicant changes the document due to loss or theft, also if the application is submitted to the FMS office not at the place of residence.

How to check the readiness of a Russian citizen’s passport

This is probably the most important question that interests most people. Checking the readiness of a Russian passport can be done in the following ways:

  • By phone.
    The most basic way. When processing documents, the FMS officer who accepted them must provide information about the approximate readiness of the certificate, and also leave his coordinates. By calling the specified phone number at the specified time, you can easily find out whether the document is ready or not.
  • Visiting the FMS department in person.
    This method is the least pleasant and time-consuming. After 2-3 days from the specified readiness period, you need to personally visit the FMS office where the application for issuing a Russian passport was submitted. Thus, if the certificate is ready, you can pick it up in one go.
  • Readying a Russian passport online is impossible, since there is no special service providing this service.

Foreign passport of the Russian Federation

This type of certificate is a confirmation of Russian citizenship outside its territory. It allows you to leave your native country, as well as cross the borders of other states.

Today there are 2 types of passports:

  • Biometric - issued for 10 years, has an electronic carrier with personal information of the owner.
  • Old-style certificate - issued for 5 years.

You can apply through the portal of public services, you can also do this through the FMS office at the place of registration.

To obtain a Russian passport, the following documents are required:

  • Application – questionnaire.
  • Early.
  • Receipt for payment of state duty.

A biometric passport for an adult will cost 3500, for a child 1500. An old-style document is 2000 and 1000, respectively.

It is important for citizens applying for a biometric version to know that they will be photographed and biometric data will be taken at the FMS office.

Waiting period

  • 1 month – application to the Federal Migration Service at your place of residence.
  • 4 months – not at the place of registration.
  • 3 months - provided that the citizen submitting the application has access to classified information of the Russian Federation.

    By visiting this website, you can find out about the readiness of your passport. To do this, you need the data of a civil identity document. Having received the series and number of the certificate, the system sends a request to the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation to provide information about the readiness of the passport.

  • Portal https://www.gosuslugi.ru/
    To obtain data on readiness, an adult citizen should register on this portal before submitting an application, indicating his phone number and e-mail. It is at these coordinates that information about the readiness of the requested document will be sent. This information can also be tracked in your personal account created on this portal.
