Little known places in Phuket. Discovering the secret places of Phuket for lovers near Patong beach. Shopping center "Central Festival"

And every Sunday from 4 pm it turns into a pedestrian street, and a street fair unfolds along its entire length. Here you can buy everything in the world, including very rare items. Let me emphasize that this place does not work for tourists, so prices are calculated for locals. In general, this whole street embodies the inimitable and unique Thai flavor. Want to experience Thailand a little deeper than the fruit in the market and a visit to a snake farm? Come here.

Honestly, in spite of the fact that during the fair there is an atmosphere of celebration and general fun here, I love the street more precisely on weekday evenings. It is so quiet, almost deserted, calm and good here that just a walk surrounded by all this beauty is priceless. This is a completely different Phuket, different from itself.

4. Big Buddha Phuket

Of course, everyone has heard about the Big Buddha statue in Phuket, this is perhaps its main attraction. But please do not come here just for show, if you are not interested in the spiritual life of Thailand, you do not need to. First of all, it is an important Buddhist shrine, a huge, 45-meter statue, built with donations from parishioners. This is a Buddhist temple, monks serve here. If all of this does not cause any response in your soul, just do not waste your time.

Big Buddha can be seen from almost anywhere on the island, because he sits high and looks far from the very high mountain Phuket.

At the foot of the Buddha there is a functioning temple. Here you can tie a string on a monk's hand and make a wish. The procedure looks like this: you walk up to a monk on your knees, he sprinkles you with water and ties a string. It cannot be removed until it breaks itself, it is believed that then your wish will come true. After that, as a symbolic payment, you need to drop 20 baht into the decanter next to the monk. You may or may not believe me, but when you sit next to a monk and he looks you in the eyes, it is simply indescribable. An incredible energy emanates from him, he has a clear and bright look. You experience very strong emotions and real cleansing. And if he says a few more words to you, this is really something special, your personal miracle.

In general, this place is incredibly beautiful, with excellent energy, gorgeous views of the entire island open up here. And just very good.

5. Foto Hotel

The best place to watch the legendary Phuket sunsets. Foto Hotel is located close to Kata Beach, and has a chic playground and restaurant on its roof. Anyone can come here, order, for example, a cocktail, and then lie on soft pillows, swim in the pool and contemplate how the sun sets right into the endless sea. And as you already guessed from the name of the place, it is here that simply divine photos are obtained 🙂 And what else can they be with such and such views?

With the onset of dusk, the lighting around the pool turns on, changing colors, and it illuminates the entire area with bright red, purple, blue and green shades. It looks ultra-fashionable and unusual.

Only this secret place! We don't tell anyone about him. And you, please, no, no! 🙂

6. BBQ buffet - traditional Thai cafe "make yourself"

One of my favorite Thai food. When I came here for the first time, the reaction was something like: “What ?! Should I cook for myself ?! " 🙂 Agree, a rarity for a cafe, and even a barbecue. It turned out that it is not only exciting, fun, but also very tasty!

There are a lot of similar cafes in Thailand, a kind of "brazier" on coals is set on your table, and you yourself fry meat, fish or cook soup. The entourage at BBQ Buffet is something like this:

Thais just love these cafes, the cook-it-yourself cafes here are very, very popular and packed to capacity. The cost of the buffet is 199 baht, this is a buffet, you can go for ingredients an unlimited number of times. What's in the assortment? Chicken, pork, crab meat, bacon, shrimp, squid, fish, fish balls and snacks, as well as weird Thai things in all their variety.

But the most delicious are sauces! Without them, the barbecue wouldn't be so great. I’m ready to just sip these sauces with a spoon 🙂 The sauce is spicy, so be careful.

And this is how the cooking process looks like: on top - meat is fried, soup is cooked in boiling water around the edges.

Mmmmm, lick your fingers!

7. Monkey Hill

The name fully justifies itself - it really is a mountain, and monkeys really live on it. There are a lot of monkeys. The place is located in Phuket Town, very few people know about it, and there are almost no tourists here. At the foot of the mountain, bananas and apples are sold with which to feed the animals. Climbing the mountain, it is worth seeing one monkey and treating it with something tasty, as you are immediately surrounded by dozens of its relatives.

An amazing sight, as if you find yourself in a wild, primitive world. It is very interesting to observe the habits of these animals, how they communicate, how they behave when the leader of the pack appears in the arena. As small macaques scatter with a squeak, the elders should only bark at them slightly. This is a real kind of society, monkey society 🙂

When arriving yourself, first of all, remember that these are wild animals, yes, they are good-natured and come out to you to beg for some food, but you need to behave as respectfully and calmly as possible.

8. Fish Market Rawai

I am often asked: "Where in Phuket to eat fresh and delicious seafood?" There is for this beautiful place in the south of the island there is a fish market at the Rawai pier. You can get here on your own or by taxi. First of all, there is a beautiful pier on which you can stroll and gaze at traditional Thai boats and fishermen.

Secondly, it is, of course, the market itself. In addition to seafood, you can buy pearl jewelry, souvenirs, various Thai crafts and cute trinkets.

And most importantly - the freshest seafood for every taste! Different types fish, squid, shrimps, lobsters, crabs and shells - all caught the night before. The choice is really huge.

What is this market so famous for? A series of cafes lined up right in front of the seafood stalls, where the products you bought will be cooked right there! They will be fried in spices, baked or steamed - as you wish, all this at a reasonable price, about 100 baht per kilogram.

9. Saphan Hin Park

Ideal for walks, family picnics or sports on fresh air... Thais simply adore this park; they come here in huge companies, spread tents on the grass and spend cozy evenings here. Near the park there is a small market where you can buy any ready-made food. In the evenings, there is simply nowhere for an apple to fall, but today, in the daytime, the park is practically empty 🙂

The park is located in Phuket Town, and it is the only park in the whole of Thailand, built in memory of a foreigner - Thomas Miles, an Australian captain who in 1909 brought a mechanical dredge to Phuket for the first time for tin mining.

People gather here in the evening, when the heat subsides. Like many the best places Phuket, Sapan Hin Park is located right by the sea 🙂

10. Wat Koh Siray

This is my favorite Buddhist temple. It is located quite far to the east, beyond Phuket Town, on the small island of Sirey. The place is very authentic and completely non-touristy. The temple stands on the top of a mountain, the air here is completely different and there are almost no people. A maximum of 1-2 Thais will be with you in the temple.

Just look what a beauty.

But this temple is active, at the foot of the mountain there are monks serving here. A security guard usually sits in the hall and asks to donate 20 baht in exchange for flowers and candles, which can be placed at the foot of the Buddha statue.

A huge statue of the Reclining Buddha is installed in the temple, in this position he expects to achieve nirvana. Very beautiful.

But the most beautiful thing here is the terrace. Perhaps the most peaceful place in the world. Especially when the monks are chanting mantras.

11. My rocking chair is Rawai Gym.

Talking about my favorite places, I cannot ignore my hall, because here I disappear three times a week and, of course, I love it very much! About a year ago I started working out in the gym, and after about half a year I began to like myself in the mirror, but most importantly, I get great pleasure from the process.

Now Thailand is low season, so you see rare footage - the hall is almost empty.

All sports!

12. Cafe "Tony's" (Tony's restaurant)

My favorite cafe. I just eat here all the time, and I also like to sit with a laptop, read LJ or write on a blog.

Cafe "Tony's" is located on Fighter Street, that is, on a street where the number of clubs and Muay Thai fighters per square meter is simply off scale. Why do I love this place? Firstly, they have a special "fighter" menu, that is, healthy dishes: meat, fish, vegetables, cooked without oil, fat and traditional Thai sauces. It is very important for me, because I exercise and get myself in shape. Tony's food is always delicious and cheap! Lunch costs me 120 baht. I like to sit at a large table, especially when a lot of people gather.

Secondly, there is always a friendly and sporty atmosphere, all this charges in the right way, you see enough of the fighters, you immediately want to urgently run into the gym and practice. Great motivation!

Thirdly, it is the staff. Tony is such a Thai over 50, and their whole huge family works in his cafe, very touching, sincerely and in a family way.

Note the family portrait on the wall. And over there, in the right corner, hangs a photo of little Teddy, we babysit this kid to all cafes))

You can also order any services from Tony - rent a room, rent a motorbike, buy a trip for a visa, etc.)) It is very convenient for guys who come here to train Muay Thai or MMA (mixed martial arts).

13. Moving market Rawai

There is a cult of street food and street markets in Thailand. It all looks a little brutal, but there is absolutely no need to be afraid. If Thais themselves buy and eat something, then you can safely take it. In general, I buy all products only on the market, firstly, it comes out cheaper, and secondly, everything here is always super-fresh, today's, unlike large supermarkets.

Why is the market mobile? Yes, because during the week he travels within our area, therefore, in order to remember where the market is today, you must first remember what day it is 🙂

The market usually starts around 3-4 pm and closes around 8 pm. What can you buy here? Yes, everything! Ready meals, vegetables, fruits, the freshest meat, fish, seafood, some knick-knacks and even clothes.

I have my own live hack about the market: if I suddenly have a bad mood, I come here. While you are between the rows, you smile so much that not a trace of sadness remains. I don’t know what anyone says about the insincere smiles of the Thais, everyone smiles at me absolutely sincerely and disinterestedly, not the sellers, but in general everyone I meet with my eyes, an amazing people. Love them)

14. Rungaroon Massage - Thai massage parlor

Talking about Thailand, Thai massage cannot be ignored. This is part of Thai culture, its centuries-old heritage. Thai massage is completely different from the traditional one, firstly, it is done in special clothes - a shirt and pants made of natural fabrics. It is designed for the whole body, the technique is based on pushing, pulling and twisting. It's amazing what each craftsman does differently. The taika moves silently along you or the edges of the bed, pressing on different parts of your body with their elbows, knees, feet or palms. Being with your eyes closed, the first time you don't even figure out what part of your body you are now kneading, and where exactly the masseuse is.

Thai massage is one of life's greatest pleasures! Coming out for the first time after the session, I asked myself: "How did I survive all these years without him ?!"

The technique of Thai massage is more than 1000 years old, the system is based on the teaching of invisible energy lines passing through the human body. The 10 most important of them are worked out during the massage by clicking on different points. After the session, you will feel a surge of energy, and your body will be rejuvenated and vigorous!

It is extremely difficult to recommend a salon, someone likes a stronger massage, on the verge of pain, but for someone it will give you unpleasant sensations (in this case, you need to ask for a light version for you). Therefore, I always recommend that you go around several salons around your hotel and choose the one that you like. Thais everywhere do massage soundly and efficiently. As for me, my favorite salon is also in the south, not far from the beach. Nai harn and is called Rungaroon Massage. The average price on the island is 250 baht per hour.

a guest 08 february 2019Bang tao and surin are far from secret. And freedom costs 200 baht per person.

a guest 19 december 2018Based on the information provided in this "article", we decided to visit Paradise beach. Iskoenne wish the author to rest on such beaches for the rest of his life. Paid (about which not a word in the "article"), with the prohibition of carrying anything (food, water) with you (about which in the "article not a word") and the bottom so covered with sharp stones and corals that only with us (and half an hour of "rest" was enough for us to get enough of them) two people were injured. Summary: there is no question of any secrecy, privacy and other declared advantages. All the more about the author's competence.

More selections in Phuket

Wonderful views of the tropical island and blue sea from these viewing platforms, cannot be described in words - they need to be seen and felt.

Banana beach can hardly be called secret. But there are still few tourists here. November to May here beautiful beach, clear water and almost complete privacy. Banana beach has one restaurant serving fresh seafood, sun loungers for rent and scuba diving and snorkeling. There are no hotels on the beach, you can spend the night at Trisara Hotel Phuket.

Banana beach is located between Bang Tao and Nai Thon beaches on the northwest coast. You can get here by boat, or you can come along the Coast Road. To the north, there is a small parking lot behind Villa Trisara. We need to find a small plaque on the tree. She will point to a path leading to the beach.

2. Freedom Beach

it best beach on the island! Colorful fish swim under the water and corals grow. There is a volleyball and soccer field on the sand, and the shade of coconut trees falls directly on the sun loungers. No scooters, bananas and squealing children. Pure freedom. But due to its proximity to Patong, the beach is gaining popularity. Very soon this beach will be occupied by lazy fans of fast adventures. It's a pity.

Theoretically, you can get here in two ways: by boat or through the dense jungle. In practice, only a boat is used. It can be rented in Patong. The path to the beach will take about fifteen minutes.

3. Nai Thon Beach

This beach is part national reserve Sirinath. Here, beneath your feet is golden pleasant sand, which is considered the best on the whole island. Gentle sandy bottom and clear water. The status of a national reserve prohibits beach development and water activities. There are no restaurants and shops on the beach itself, they are located across the street. Nai Thon Beach is a large and beautiful pristine beach.

It is located next to the aforementioned Banana Beach. You can get there by taxi or rented transport. Before reaching Phuket Airport, turn left at the T-junction. After a few kilometers, turn right at the Andaman White Beach Resort sign.

4. Ya Nui Beach

Ya Nui Beach is a small beach in the south of Phuket. There are many colorful fish and moray eels under the water. You can go around the small island by kayak or go fishing in the sea. The beach is located in a small cove with soft sand and beautiful shells. There are restaurants, shops, bungalows and equipment rentals. But this is not the most calm beach, in high season it is quite crowded here.

It is better to go to the beach from Nai Harn. Drive south to the hill with the wind turbine. Ya Nui will be on the right side of the road after a couple of kilometers.

5. Laem Ka beach

This beach is popular with Thais, but little known to tourists. And this is its great advantage. Plus it is the only swimable beach in the southeast of Phuket. Here the water is aquamarine and cool in the shade of dense thickets. In the south of the beach, the bottom is rocky and suitable for diving, in the north it is sandy and gently sloping, ideal for swimming. The beach overlooks Coral island and Bon Island.

Head to Rawai Beach. Opposite the gate of the temple on the main road, you will see a 7-eleven supermarket. There is a small road from it. Drive along it past the post, along the coconut plantation. After a kilometer of path, the road will lead you directly to the parking lot of the beach.

6. Hua beach

This is not the best beach in Phuket. The coast is rocky, there are no hotels or restaurants nearby. No sun loungers. Nothing unique, you can find more interesting beaches very close. So why come here? Many people ask this question and do not go, which means that only you and the owner of a small diner will be on this beach. Here you can still swim, dive and sunbathe - this is a great beach for short-term seclusion.

To find the beach, drive west from Kamala along the road along the beach. You will see Rayee Beach on your right, continue along the road and very soon you will notice a sign pointing to the beach. You need to park by the road.

7. The Similan Islands

This is not a secret beach, but it is definitely worth a visit. Similans are in the top ten beautiful islands the world. There is soft white sand, in the sea an incredible number of rare fish, turtles, corals and sometimes sharks. Of the nine islands, only two are inhabited. You can spend the night either in a bungalow or in a tent camp. There are no comfortable hotels here. Similans are suitable for those who do not like to lie on the beach. To see the most interesting, you need to walk a lot. The best diving spots, stunning views and rare animals. Similans must be visited.

You can get here only from mid-October to mid-May. You need to get there from the city of Taplamu by speedboat. This will take about an hour and a half. And if you're lucky, the boat will be accompanied by dolphins.

The first and most important thing is, of course, the sea. I have been in love with him since early childhood - I first saw the sea at the age of 7, since then I have been dreaming only about him. She even dedicated poetry to him. And it is not surprising, because in heaven there is only talk about the sea. About how infinitely beautiful it is.

Living by the sea was not just my dream, it was an eternal inner feeling that this is how it should be. And now, even two years later, every time I experience something incredible that I can just sit on the bike and come here at any moment. To my favorite Nai Harn beach. This is the most south beach islands. There are no tourist streets with a bunch of goods, restaurants and bars, only a couple of hotels, a fruit stand, a few cafes and ... yes, that's it! It is a quiet place, so even in high season it is not so crowded. Everything is good here: swimming, sunbathing, just walking and breathing the sea breeze, and you can also come here at night with friends and drink something warm while talking heart to heart. Yes, for example, Tess tea)))

Nai Harn Beach itself is incredibly beautiful:

But the presence of a viewpoint on the mountain makes it even cooler! The point is usually referred to simply as the "windmill". That's why:

You can climb there in a couple of minutes by bike or car. The views are simply fabulous. In addition, a special gazebo is equipped here, you can sit and contemplate, as much as you like, meditate or something else.

Pay attention to the color of the water - it really is, beautiful, emerald, warm Andaman Sea, the best in the world

In fact, it is so nice and beautiful here that you just do not notice how time passes.

2. Mai Khao - the beach where planes land (Mai Khao Beach)

This is another beach, but they don't come here for swimming and tanning (although, why not?), But to gaze at the planes that land or take off right over your head. The fact is that the beach line is right next to the airport. Or is the airport right next to the beach? And depending on the season and the direction of the wind, planes take off or land so close to your head that it’s amazing. I’ve never seen anything like it before. It is very cool! It is completely safe, even the movement of air does not reach you from planes. Only the hum of the motors is heard

3. Portuguese street Lard-Yai Walking Street

I discovered this street quite recently, but it would be simply blasphemous not to include it in my list of favorite places. This is love at first sight. The street, built in the Portuguese style, is located in the area of \u200b\u200bthe old city - in Phuket Town. On a typical weekday, she is simply the divine beauty of colonial-style houses with color-changing lighting.

Why is the market mobile? Yes, because during the week he travels within our area, therefore, in order to remember where the market is today, you must first remember what day it is

It is designed for the whole body, the technique is based on pressing, pulling and twisting. It's amazing what each craftsman does differently. Taika moves silently along you or the edges of the bed, pressing on different parts of your body with their elbows, knees, feet or palms.

As for me, my favorite salon is also in the south, near the Nai Harn beach and is called Rungaroon Massage. The average price on the island is 250 baht per hour.

After the session, you will traditionally be offered a cup of herbal tea.

It is impossible not to fall in love with Phuket. Everyone finds what he wants here. If you come for the sun, sea and white beaches - this good is here in bulk, if at parties and bars - you will certainly find them, and if for spiritual life and peace - Buddhist temples and monks will gladly meet you. Phuket is different for everyone - hot, crazy, funny, sincere, relaxing, different. But each of its incarnations is beautiful and amazing.

Thank you for taking a walk with me on my beloved island. And welcome to sunny Thailand.
