India with a small child. We are going on vacation in Goa with a child. Children in India, or How to Deal with Heightened Attention

The resorts of India are scattered throughout the country. Naturally, there are many of them on the coast. Let's see which resorts are the most suitable for families with children and why.

Naturally, this resort will be the first on the list. I guess you have such an opinion about Goa in your head: hippies, drunken youth, mud, parties. It seems that the resort is absolutely not for children, but it is not. Although, of course, the situation is much better in southern Goa - it is quiet, civil, there are good beaches with yellow sand. There are a lot of beaches in Goa, and they differ from each other. For families with children in North Goa, it is better to prefer Ashvem and Mandrem, although Morjim and Arambol are also good. In South Goa, take a look at the hotels near the beaches of Utorda, Majorda, Betalbatim. More active families will love Colva and Benaulim beaches. Hotels in Goa offer very good conditions for living with children, and, by the way, there are a lot of hotels in Goa! Some of them can provide playgrounds and even mini-clubs, and these are usually 4 * and 5 * hotels.
There will be no difficulties with food in Goa. Goa, on the other hand, is the most tourist state of India, therefore, in most hotels, you will be offered, in addition to Indian, and our usual food. If you go to a restaurant, ask the chef to prepare a “with no spices” meal for you. Entertainment in Goa for children is very pleasant: Melange (Blue Lady Water Park) and Splashdown water parks, Bondla, Salim Ali and Kotigao nature reserves, and much more. It will not be boring! If you are worried that your sleep will be disturbed by the nightlife of Goa, then if you choose a hotel close to the beach in northern Goa, then there is such a possibility.
The loudest and most massive parties take place on the beaches of Anjuna and Vagator. By the way, do not worry that parties thunder until the morning - usually only until midnight, at the latest - until two. Goa has strict rules for limiting noise at night, and the police closely monitor this. But the loud young people who demand "the continuation of the banquet" cannot be stopped even by the law.

Kerala

This state is located in the very southeast of India and is considered the cleanest, most comfortable, most developed and richest region in the country. A big plus of Kerala is that this is where the highest level of medicine in India is (and we never know what might happen). There are many good hotels and shops, pharmacies and cafes in Kerala. Kerala has an amazingly mild climate and beautiful beaches on the Malabar Coast that are so well suited for families with children. Moreover, the beaches are framed by lush vegetation, which is very attractive.
There are few tourists from Russia in Kerala, and this is another plus. The beautiful beach of Kovalam, which is 15 km from the capital of the state of Trivandrum, somehow went to the top 50 beaches in the world (according to National Geographic) - a good indicator, isn't it? It is also nice that the cuisine here is somehow softer, more refined - probably the Kerala cuisine has been influenced by Creole and Arab cuisine. In general, feeding children with this is not so scary. And in Kerala, it is very beautiful and interesting. No wonder she was nicknamed "Venice of the East" - there is a whole network of canals, rivers, lakes and reservoirs, along which it is so interesting to ride a boat! With children in Kerala, you can go to one of the state's national parks, which cover an area of almost 800 hectares. There you will see tigers, elephants, leopards, antelopes, panthers, crocodiles, and other animals - terribly interesting! Well, not without temples, ancient and very beautiful.

Panaji

I would like to highlight the pretty capital of the state of Goa separately. The resort is surrounded by hills, famous for its three amazing nature reserves, with unique white beaches and good entertainment. Older children will be interested in seeing old temples and mosques in Panaji, as well as a museum of archeology. Younger children will be happy to visit the Bondla Nature Reserve, where deer, bison, monkeys, porcupines, turtles and other animals live. The best beaches in the city are Dona Paula, Miramar, Bambolim: they are not only beautiful, but also interesting.
There are not so many hotels in Panaji itself, about 50, but almost everyone can offer access to the shore. It is another matter that there are few places where there are entertainments for children - children's clubs, playgrounds - in the rest of Goa there will be more of them. But this is more than paid off by the fact that Panaji is a calm and quiet city with a low crime rate. And also Panaji is the recognized shopping capital in Goa. This is where you can buy quality baby products. And the last plus is that there are many restaurants in Panaji with excellent service, which is rare in Goa.

Mumbai

The most populated city in India is definitely worth visiting for families with children. The choice is interesting, and not all families decide on such a trip. But the city is simply magnificent, and, without a doubt, your children will also like it - those who are older, who are already able to appreciate the beauty of the architecture. In general, if you come with a baby, then you must have a stroller - the child will not get tired of walking, and if he gets tired, he can immediately sleep in the stroller. And the simplest cane stroller can be easily folded into the trunk of a taxi.
The island of Elephant will be a great delight for children, where ancient cave temples with many stone figures are located (the giant head of Shiva is especially impressive). It is worth warning that Mumbai is a really terribly hectic city: a lot of people, bustle. If you try not to pay attention to all this, then the trip will be rewarded to you in full. The climate of the city is somewhat different from the climate, for example, Go - it is more tropical and hotter.
You shouldn't expect a good beach holiday from Mumbai, but in general, Mumbai also includes islands such as Salsett and Bombay - here you can swim there and soak up the sun with the whole family.
And yes, don't miss out on one of the most beautiful and cleanest beaches in the world - Chowpatty. You can have a picnic and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city on the shores of the beautiful lakes Povai, Vihar and Tulsi. Children will have no less fun in the Bird Sanctuary, which is home to about 150 species of birds. But the most interesting thing is in the Water Kingdom water park, which is open all year round from morning to late evening. In general, Mumbai is rightfully very interesting for families with children.

One of the most important steps in planning a trip to Goa with a child is choosing a region of residence. Goa has several beaches that are great for families with young children. The main thing when choosing a vacation spot in Goa with a child is to make sure that it will be a calm area with a clean and safe beach and developed infrastructure.

The best beaches for families with children in the south of Goa

Most of Goa's family-friendly resorts are located in the southern part of the state. The hotels here are focused specifically on family vacations of Europeans with children and often have children's pools, playgrounds, children's menu in the restaurant on their territory, and can offer a wide range of services, including babysitting services.

Palolem beach. This sandy beach is located in a small quiet bay, protected from waves and winds, and has a gradual increase in depth, which creates a comfortable environment for families with young children.

Cavelossim beach. This sandy beach is very popular with wealthy tourists who come on vacation with children. Cavelossim is a calm city with a developed infrastructure and a lack of active nightlife.

Benaulim beach. Has a gradual set of depth and a calm atmosphere.

The best hotels in South Goa for families with children

Goa's northern beaches for families with children

North Goa also has good beaches, but they are more suitable for tourists who are planning "independent vacation in Goa with savage children." There are significantly fewer good hotels with developed infrastructure here than in the southern part of the state, and the infrastructure outside the hotel is focused mainly on budget vacations for young people.

Morjim. This beach has a convenient entry into the water and is very popular with tourists from Russia who come to relax with children. Local residents nicknamed this beach "Moscow B each". The beach has a well-developed infrastructure with many small inexpensive hotels, villas and restaurants of Russian cuisine.

Mandrem. The beach has a developed infrastructure with bars, restaurants, yoga centers and a good choice of accommodation. The beach has natural seawater pools that children love to play in. The sand on the beach has a natural grayish tint.

Candolim. The resort has a developed infrastructure and a calm atmosphere, more typical for southern Goa. This is one of the top family vacation spots in the upstate.

Best North Goa hotels for families with children

How to feed a child in Goa

It all depends on where you plan to live and how old your child is. If you choose a good hotel in southern Goa for a vacation with your child, then there will most likely be a restaurant with European cuisine on its territory. If you choose a hotel in northern Goa or plan to live in a rented house or villa, it is better to cook your own food or look for a nearby restaurant with European cuisine, there are not so few such restaurants in the tourist areas of the state, there are even restaurants with Russian cuisine. We should also recall the huge selection of exotic fruits and freshly squeezed juices. Children, of course, really like them, but you need to give them to the child a little at first, since new fruits can cause allergies in the child.

How to entertain a child in Goa

Many interesting discoveries await children in Goa. Children will be able to feed monkeys, watch an elephant show, visit the Bondla and Cotigao reserves, which are home to many species of exotic animals and birds, visit the botanical garden, and admire the beauty of the waterfalls and beaches of Goa. There is a water park in the northern part of the state. With school-age children, you can visit the Naval Aviation Museum and the Church of St. Francis of Assisi.

When is the best time to travel with children to Goa

One of the advantages of a vacation in Goa compared to many other resorts is the predictable climate. If you come in high season, you can be sure that dry and sunny weather with warm sea awaits you.

What to take with you for a child in Goa

diapers
medicines
children food
good sun cream with high protection and water resistant
baby things and favorite toys

If the child is small, it will not hurt to take a cane stroller on a trip, it is compact and perfect for traveling.

Goa is a great place for a family vacation: warm waters of the Arabian Sea, picturesque sandy beaches, gentle sun - ideal conditions for a vacation with kids. The main thing is to choose a suitable resort with a developed infrastructure, a safe coastline, a calm atmosphere and an adequate audience.

For example, the cities of North Goa are clearly not the best option: endless parties and the ubiquitous crowds of strange characters are unlikely to allow you to relax, and with comfortable accommodation here it is a little tough. But in the south it is quite possible to find a cozy place where it will be good for both parents and children.

The trip should be planned for the period from October to March: there is no rain, the sea is calm, it is warm during the day, but not hot, at night it is fresh, but not cold. In April and May it is too stuffy and humid, and from June to September the weather is cool.

Goa for the little ones

Kids do not have to mess around in the sand and splash in the sea for days on end: excursions to nature reserves and fun in water parks will give vivid impressions and diversify their leisure time.

Beaches

One of the best beaches for children in the state is Om: the coast is clean, the bottom is safe, the depth increases smoothly, the water is almost always warm and calm. In Majorda and Mandrem, the entrance to the sea is also shallow, the coast is covered with yellowish-white sand and framed by emerald palm groves. It will not hurt to look at Patnem - calm, not crowded, with a wide coastal strip and well-functioning infrastructure.

Vainiginim Beach is small, but very beautiful: the sand is golden yellow and the water is dazzlingly turquoise. It's always quiet in the bay, but it's better to look after the kids: the farther from the coast, the stronger the current.

Families with children also have a good time on the Bogmalo beach with amenities, sun loungers and umbrellas. It is relatively clean, there are cafes and restaurants, the only caveat is that waves often run up the coast, so you should swim with caution. And if you get bored of lying on the sand, you can rent a boat and go to the sea to admire the dolphins.

Wealthy tourists prefer the elite Cavelossim: a blessed silence so rare for Goa reigns on the wide sandy beaches.

Nature reserves

Perhaps the best idea for an excursion with a child is acquaintance with wildlife: kids are delighted with walks in the fresh air and meeting with strange animals. Fortunately, Goa has enough reserves with pristine landscapes and a variety of flora and fauna. The largest is Bhagwan Mahavir: 240 sq. km of lush vegetation at the foot of the Western Ghats, 53 km from Panaji. It is home to sika deer, giant squirrels, swamp lynxes, macaques, porcupines, elephants and bears, as well as all kinds of birds, reptiles and insects.

Leopards and panthers are also found in the vastness of Bhagwan Mahavir, but meeting them is a rare success.

If the baby is not yet ready for such long walks, you can take him to the Bandla nature reserve with an area of 8 square meters. km. For young guests, there is complete freedom here: they are ridden on a mini-train, entertained in the playroom, introduced to peacocks and squirrels, and even put on their backs with friendly elephants. Predators also live in the reserve, but only in fenced areas - safety is above all.

Pond has a Butterfly Park with endemic plants and picturesque streams.

Kotigao, 12 km from Palolem, is home to colorful tropical birds and bizarre insects, and you can also feed curious monkeys with bananas. There are also many birds in "Salim Ali" on Chorao Island: kingfishers, storks, herons and ducks, adjacent to otters and crocodiles. And Bengal tigers live in Mkhadei Wildlife not far from Valpoi - it's a pity that they rarely appear to visitors.

Water parks

Splashdown Goa Waterpark (official site in English) on the outskirts of Anjuna is a complex of pools, water slides and other attractions for visitors of all ages. Extremals will be bored, kids - just right: no dizzying heights and crazy turns, but absolutely safe.

After riding, you can dance in the water disco, relax on a sun lounger or have a snack in the cafe.

Blue Whale Water Park between Baga and Arpora is much more compact: there is a single pool with one large slide and 4 small ones. For the youngest visitors there is a separate recreation area and a trampoline castle "Finding Nemo", for adults - a cocktail bar and a cafe, with the onset of dusk, becoming venues for noisy parties.

The largest amusement park in Goa is Froggyland (official site in English), opened in 2015 in Nuwem. More than 10 slides of different difficulty levels, a wave pool, a dance hall in the "rain", a "lazy river" that goes around the entire territory - there will obviously be a lot of splashes. On land, you can go rock climbing, zip-line, ride a mechanical bull or jump on trampolines.

Goa for older children

The story of Goa may well captivate older children, especially if told in the right scenery: in the midst of powerful fortress walls, where it is so easy to feel like a brave conqueror or a dashing pirate. We recommend continuing the fascinating hunt for knowledge in the few, but very unusual museums.

Medieval forts

The most famous fortress in Goa is Aguada on the outskirts of Candolim Beach. Built in the 17th century to protect the Old City and store fresh water, today it has been transformed into a museum adjacent to the current prison.

The Portuguese built Fort Korjum in the vicinity of Aldona a century later, and it has survived quite well: loopholes, a coat of arms over the main entrance and a Catholic altar still keep the secrets of the past. Fort Chapora not far from Vagator beach was much less fortunate: only ruins remind of its former greatness, but the view of the ocean is stunning.

Museums

Curious boys should definitely be taken to the Naval Aviation Museum (official site in English), located not far from Bogmalo beach. Airplanes, helicopters, fighters, amphibians, torpedoes, aerial bombs, uniforms of Indian pilots - dozens of interesting exhibits are exhibited in the open air and in a small building, many of which are from the USSR.

In Old Goa, not far from the Bon Jesus Basilica, the Wax World Museum is open (official website in English). More than 20 wax "doubles" of ordinary Hindus, ancient deities and famous personalities adorn here: Mahatma Gandhi, Sai Baba, Francis Xavier. The most impressive work of master Shriji Bhashkaran is the 7-meter composition "The Last Supper".

Goa Chitra (official site in English) is a meticulously recreated Goan village with traditional houses and unique artifacts: from crockery to agricultural implements that have served the indigenous people for centuries. A pleasant addition to the excursion are costume shows and concerts of folk music. Arambol beach in Goa, sunset

Weather and seasons on the coast

The cost of living at the hotel varies from 2860 rubles. for a family room. Popular hotels Sea View Resort, The Palm Trees Resort (with a beautiful green area).

North Goa - outdoor activities and wide beaches

For families with older children, we can recommend the excellent beaches located in. There are many youth parties and clubs here, you can have fun all the time. For example, on the Arambol beach, you can take yoga lessons during the day, and in the evening you can dance by the sea to the accompaniment of drums and guitars.

On Morjim beach you can meet a large number of Russian-speaking tourists. Local restaurants have even adjusted their menu to match them. The beach itself is very comfortable here - quite wide and with a gentle, comfortable entrance into the water. Fans of active recreation can go kite and windsurfing here.

Ashvem Beach

The velvety yellow sand combined with the shallow calm waters make the Ashvem Beach in North Goa the perfect place for a family vacation with a child.

There are several accommodation options to choose from: hotels, bungalows, guest houses, the beach is not crowded. There are not many restaurants or clubs, which makes Ashvem relatively quiet and peaceful. Near the beach there are small shops selling food products, goods for children, beach goods.

The entrance to the sea is shallow, there are no stones in the water. The beach has sun loungers (wooden and plastic) under palm leaf awnings. There are toilets and changing cabins.

Ashvem Beach

Paradise Beach Shack (seafood, snacks, cocktails) is popular among the sheks. Food that can be asked not to spice up is served either at a beachfront restaurant overlooking the sea or at a table right next to the canopy, perfect for parents of sleeping babies.

Entertainment

In the evening, beach volleyball tournaments are held on the beach. You can take surf lessons for 2,500 rupees (1.5 hours). But the most popular is the boogie-board (a special light board on which to lie down and "catch the wave").

Where to go

From Ashvem, you can drive to the Goa Spice Garden, a unique place with many plants that are used in cooking. Children will also find it useful to learn a lot about the spices for which India is famous.

Advantages and disadvantages

There are no animals (cows) on Ashvem. Sale of beach toys for children has been organized. You can see crabs in the coastal area in the morning and evening. Children on this beach enjoy jumping over small waves in shallow water.

The disadvantages include high food prices compared to other resorts in the North of the state.

The most popular hotel is the Rococco Aswem Resort, which offers comfortable living conditions and quite affordable prices.

In a romantic setting, at the request of guests on the green lawn by the beach, wedding ceremonies are held under a beautiful arch at sunset.

Candolim

Candolim Beach has also received many good reviews from tourists from different countries. The coast is covered with soft white sand, which is "stepped" by small palm groves

Candolim is a fairly clean beach with a comfortable, gentle entrance to the sea. On the shore there are beach huts and tourist shops. There are shakes where you can have a bite to eat overlooking the sea.

Candolim beach

Where to eat

One main street passes through Candolim - Fort Aguada Road. It has almost everything you need (beach toys, breakfast before heading to the sea, clothes).

Candolim also has a good coffee shop Vivenda Kafeis and a fish restaurant Fishermans Cove.

Seafood at the beach cafe -sheki

Near Candolim there is a fort to explore. Other popular beaches in North Goa - Baga and Calangute are less than 5 km from this place.

Arambol

About a decade ago, Arambol was an ordinary fishing village. With the construction of a bridge across the Chapora River in 2002, the region began to develop rapidly (before the construction of the bridge, this part of Goa could be reached by ferry or bypass).

Arambol

The central part is not the best place to stay. On the Arambol beach, you need to walk towards Mandrem, there are very cozy deserted beaches. The sun loungers usually belong to cafes-sheks, and if you buy water or juice from them, you can use the lounger all day.

Entertainment

Miramar

Miramar

A special feature of Miramar is the nearby mouth of the Mandovi River. The coast is covered with yellow fine sand with shells, at the water's edge the sand is light gray. The shallow waters of Miramar Beach are great for children (wide, no waves).

The beach is relatively clean, there are umbrellas and sun loungers, changing cabins.

Morjim

Morjim is one of the favorite vacation spots for Russians in the state of Goa. Tourists from Russia have been staying in Morjim since the early 2000s. The small village developed, hotels, bungalows, cafes and restaurants were built.

One of the advantages is the relative lack of people on the beach: due to the fact that it is difficult to get to it.

Morjim stretches for 3 km. The sand on the beach is light and clean. The descent into the water is very gentle and smooth. The coastline is not wide.

Among the disadvantages of Morjim are high prices for accommodation. In South Morjim, prices are more democratic.

Beach cafes and restaurants close until dusk: conservation measures for olive sea turtles. It is because of the turtles that there are few people on the beach.

How to get there and where to stay

From Dabolim airport to Morjim, they first come to the Vasco da Gama bus station, then to Panaji, and from there to Morjim.

There are many hotels of different categories in Morjim. Among them: Sur La Mer; Treebo Turte; Paros by Amarya.
