What to do after obtaining a TRP: when you can apply for citizenship

To obtain a temporary residence permit in Russia, you need to prepare a list of documents and submit them to the appropriate authorities. When the problem is almost solved, and it is not long to wait for the coveted mark in the passport, you should focus and understand that these are only the initial steps on the way to the status of a citizen of the Russian Federation. The main question in this case is: what should be done next after receiving the TRP?

Sequencing

To legalize their position in Russia, a foreigner must have the time and sufficient understanding of migration legislation. What are these stages and what is their order of passage after receiving a quota for the temporary residence permit? Consider the order of necessary actions:

  • registration at the place of residence;
  • migration registration;
  • confirmation of RVP;
  • obtaining a residence permit

Registration

This term is still used by the population, but officially this procedure is called registration at the place of residence. Russian legislation states that the deadlines for submitting documents for its implementation after issuing a RVP are quite short - you need to register within one week.

You can go through this procedure at the local department of the Federal Migration Service in the region of residence. To do this, an application is drawn up (a sample is available on our website), which indicates information about the location of the foreign citizen's housing.

For those who do not have the opportunity to register at the place of stay, a special stamp is placed in the passport office. If the registration rules are violated, the migrant will be deported to their homeland, and the RVP will be canceled.

Confirmation of the legality of temporary stay in the Russian Federation

A foreigner can reside in the Russian Federation for 60 days after completing the registration procedure. Further, the migration service needs evidence that the visitor is employed and is legally in the country. To do this, you need to confirm the RVP. A certificate from the tax office and a notification are sent to the territorial department of the Federal Migration Service.

After confirming a temporary residence permit, a guest from abroad can stay and work in the region where the TRP is received for three years.

But the paperwork doesn't end there. If a migrant wants to become a citizen of the Russian Federation, two years after the RWP, a residence permit is required.

How to get a residence permit?

When the procedures related to registration are completed and a certain time is maintained, an application for a residence permit is submitted. It is drawn up as Appendix No. 3 (the form is available on our website, as well as in the Federal Migration Service) and submitted to the migration authorities. What documents are required for the application to be accepted?

  1. Photos with parameters 35*45 cm.
  2. Identification.
  3. Certificates confirming earnings: from the place of employment, on the receipt of maintenance payments, certificate of a pensioner, etc.
  4. Real estate papers.
  5. The results of a medical examination, which refers to the absence of socially dangerous diagnoses, such as HIV, alcoholism and drug addiction.

Considering the listed documents, the employees of the Federal Migration Service approve or reject the request for a residence permit. You can find out the final decision in 15–180 days.

In addition, foreigners must pass an exam in the Russian language, current legislation, and the history of the state. Tests are conducted comprehensively, they include listening.

The issuance of a residence permit gives migrants many privileges: living and employment in any city of the Russian Federation, receiving medical insurance and social services, like all Russians. Foreigners with a residence permit are not only entitled to be elected to public office and vote.

  • citizens of Belarus and Turkmenistan;
  • highly qualified specialists;
  • native speakers of the state language

Ukrainians and residents of other CIS countries must draw up a document on a common basis.

A migrant who plans to obtain a residence permit by marriage will have to live within the Russian Federation for more than six months by the time it is concluded.

Benefits for Belarusians

Issuance of a residence permit to citizens of the Republic of Belarus is carried out at their place of residence upon reaching the age of 18 and the presence of an internal national passport. Minors apply for this document together with their parents.

How long is the residence permit valid? Its legal force is preserved for five years. It is drawn up on a special form, which is not much different from the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation. In addition, a resident of Belarus can renew a residence permit as many times as necessary. According to the rules, the delivery of a package of papers is carried out several months before the end of the validity period of the document, because the renewal itself often lasts 3-6 months.

Important: the results of medical examinations are valid for only three months, so they are prepared last, when other papers have already been issued.

Simplified procedure for acquiring citizenship

Is it possible in 2017 for certain groups of foreigners to apply for Russian citizenship immediately after receiving a TRP? This procedure is provided for Russian speakers and visitors whose relatives previously lived in the Russian Empire or the Soviet Union.

As a rule, candidates will need to withdraw from the citizenship of other states. But if there is an appropriate international treaty between the two countries or the applicant does not have the opportunity to renounce the previous citizenship, this action is not necessary.

Native Russian speakers quickly receive the status of Russian citizens, it does not matter here the period of residence in the country or the presence of a residence permit. You don't have to pass any entrance exams, you just need to come to the interview.
