If you cannot go abroad on vacation, if climate change is contraindicated for you, if you are looking for a quiet, cozy and respectable hotel in central Russia, for families with children, for resting elderly parents, for a romantic wedding on the high bank of the Oka - maybe , my review will help you decide. The country hotel "Chaika" with a swimming pool and a fitness club is located in the outskirts of Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod Region (Zhelnino village).
Accommodation at the Chaika hotel got us as a gift when renewing a subscription to a fitness club (more on that later).
About the hotel.
Large well-groomed area,

Pine trees, trimmed lawns, wild raspberry thickets by the pond, hammocks, swings.
The hotel consists of 2 buildings, we lived in the central one, it is connected with fitness, no need to dress. I and my two children were assigned two 2-bed rooms. The children were delighted with independence, and how I had a rest! Only my windows overlooked the noisemakers from the pool, and it was quiet on the other side of the hotel.
I did not climb under the beds with my hands in white gloves, outwardly clean, freshly renovated, new bedding and towels. Shampoos, gels, soaps, shower caps, pens, sponges for shoes, we, like the most beggars, took home, like for souvenirs ...
We checked in at 16-00, we were not supposed to have dinner as a gift, we ate at home, took fruit and juice with us.
We liked breakfast and lunch. I don't know what criteria they should meet, for me one indicator - it was tasty and a lot. For breakfast we took sausages, eggs, rice cakes, semolina porridge, tea. We didn't take steamed vegetables, scrambled eggs, coffee, juices. For lunch, the children took chicken soup 2 times (they really liked it), super tasty cutlets, potatoes, fruits, cakes. They did not take fish, sausages, and much more. DIDN'T GET IT! Home-made, no shovels. Buffet.
If you want something different, there are several restaurants.
There is a bowling alley, but we were not there. The eldest daughter went there with a class "on a corporate party", the students were delighted.
In summer, a small pool and sun loungers are placed on the embankment.
The amount of oxygen in the air is SCALE! After a half-hour walk, my head is spinning and I want to sleep all the time. Very quiet and peaceful. On Fridays and Saturdays, weddings are often seen on the waterfront lawn.
Residents are mainly families with children, including babies, pensioners with and without grandchildren, athletes in teams, companies coming to trainings / seminars.
You can go outside the hotel, near meadows, forests and Lake Glubinka, they go there to do Scandinavian walking from the fitness club. You can cross (for a fee!) To the other side of the Oka for fishing / swimming in the Oka / visiting the Dudin Monastery.
There is animation for children. My children absolutely do not like animators, so there is almost nothing to say. Some people I know send their kids to daytime groups for their spring / fall break. Children like it, parents are comfortable, but expensive.
There is Wi-Fi in the rooms, we have been caught on the embankment.
Now about fitness.
Theater starts with a coat rack, and fitness starts with a locker room. Locker rooms are separate, for men and women (otherwise we were in the Atoll water park - there is a common locker room, with changing cabins), lockers are small. There are hair dryers near the mirrors. 2 towels are provided - large and small.
Hats are optional, but my kids do. Because they swim in glasses, and it's easier to put them on a hat. Long hair is asked to be pinned or braided by administrators. There is no medical examination, no certificates are required.
The pool in Chaika is year-round, technological break-September... The water is NOT CHLORINATED! There are always few people, 10-15 people. It happens that 1-2 people in the evening (including me). There is a children's pool with warm chlorinated water for mothers with babies. It is possible for children under 7, but they usually put on armbands / vests from the age of 5 and climb into the adult pool. The depth of an adult in the main zone and the aqua aerobics zone is about one and a half meters, there are also deep places for those who like to dive. A panoramic window overlooking the river creates a special atmosphere.
In winter, you swim and look at the snow-covered pine trees ...
The eldest daughter just swims underwater wearing glasses and fins, the youngest is picking up a bunch of sports equipment and building all kinds of floating structures:
Inventory is provided free of charge - swimming boards, fins, balls, water dumbbells, armbands, vests, belts and gloves for aqua aerobics.
There is a hammam, Finnish saunas and an infrared sauna, a pool with cold (chlorinated!) Water. Everything is small, cozy, not very new, but clean enough. I always go to the hammam, I’m afraid of the IR, it’s suddenly harmful, but it’s hot in the saunas.
There are several rooms for group lessons. I've tried Pilates and body stretch. I thought that I would die before the end. No, just water aerobics! I can do all the exercises, I get tired, I crawl out of the pool, but I don’t die.
I really like that classes are held even if 1 person came. I've often had this. It turns out, as it were, a personal lesson, only for free.
Drunk people are not allowed into fitness; in 2 years, 3 times I encountered visitors with fumes, and then in a hammam.
There is a children's room, there she left the younger a couple of times when she did not want to go to the pool, and there was no one to leave at home with.
Now about the disadvantages... Basically, they are associated with children's leisure.
- There are no slides in the pool. They say that there used to be a slide, but due to the large number of injuries it was removed. Probably, you can still think of something to make it more interesting for children in the pool.
- There are no animals, except for a gorgeous ginger cat at the checkpoint. The symbol of children's animation is a squirrel, its nuts are exchanged for prizes. We have not seen a single squirrel on the territory, but we would very much like to. Ducks or swans could be housed in the pond. I don’t call for a zoo with wild animals, it’s against cages, but tame birds and squirrels can definitely be organized.
3. Mothers with sons 5-6 years old face the problem of visiting the locker room. Even if a mother is not ashamed of her 6-year-old son and undresses calmly in front of him, girls 6-10 years old feel very uncomfortable. The shower room has a similar problem. One could somehow think over this question.
4. There are problems with parking (for members of a fitness club) when corporations come to trainings.
5. It happens (rarely) that the pool is unexpectedly closed "for maintenance" for 1 day. These surprises suspiciously coincide with the arrival of celebrities of the all-Russian scale. As a concert, so in "The Seagull" prevention.
I summarize: if you are looking for a place to sleep off, take a break from the hustle and bustle, come to your senses, be with the children, come.
For nonresidents without a car: a taxi to the city costs from 100 rubles, in Dzerzhinsk there is 1 cinema (in the Royal shopping center), 1 local history museum, 1 city park with attractions (old and creaky) and a small zoo (with a contact area). You can take a train (30-50 minutes) or bus (50-60) minutes to get to Nizhny Novgorod (30 km).
"The Seagull" is no less interesting in winter than in summer. We come with our own tubing, but for visitors there is a rental-tubing, skis, skates (the skating rink is being flooded).

In response to your appeal regarding the conflict with another hotel guest (hereinafter referred to as Guest N), which occurred on March 9 this year. during a family event - a paper disco - in the Disco-hall of the country hotel "Chaika" at 22:10 we can report the following. BY THE ESSENCE OF THE CONFLICT ITSELF: as a result of an internal investigation (interviewing employees, other guests and viewing the recordings from CCTV cameras), we concluded that the incident that happened to your son was RANDOM. During the paper disco, where Guest N. was with his child and scattered paper rain (like the other participants in the disco, including your 4-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter), while picking him up from the floor, he accidentally hit with the left hand of the boy standing behind your son. Your son, apparently, also happened to be at this moment at a distance much closer than the outstretched hand of the guest. And since the boy was behind, Guest N. could not see him, and during the next scattering of an armful of rain, he touched the nasolabial region of your son's face along a tangent. Due to the instantaneousness and insignificance of the incident, neither visible injuries were found on the boy, nor the reaction of the people standing next to him, including the animators who were conducting the disco. Everyone continued to dance further, and only your son, after a while, together with his sister, approached your husband with a complaint about what had happened. In your case, there was an accidental negligence that grew into a personal conflict that often happens in any public place: a shopping center, playground, theater, etc. And it is wrong to shift responsibility to the hotel staff in the person of animators or security guards. After all, if you or your husband, in addition to your 8-year-old daughter, were next to your son, in a circle of dancers at a disco, then most likely you would not have allowed your 4-year-old child to be so close behind an adult person. As for your complaint about the lack of APPROACHES from the hotel management, on the night of the incident there could not have been any, because it was necessary to understand the situation. The next Sunday morning, March 10, on the day of your departure, the head of the accommodation desk, Maria Dikareva, spoke to you on behalf of the administration, who expressed regret to you about what had happened and promised to look into the situation. But even then, on the day of departure, this communication did not satisfy you, because You insisted that the hotel "punish" Guest N. by "blacklisting" him and refusing him in subsequent reservations. The administration refused to apply this "punishment". After an internal investigation, it became obvious that the employees were not guilty in this incident - they acted correctly and professionally. Without waiting for the hotel to fulfill your demand to "punish" guest N., you wrote such an unflattering review. We are very sorry that, being a regular guest for 4 years and always evaluating your vacation positively, you decided to suspend good relations with the hotel for this reason.
