What should be considered when filling out certain sections of the visa application form?

When filling out the visa application form, certain points must be taken into account. So, in the paragraph "Last and first name" you must indicate your data exclusively in Latin and in the same way as they are written in your passport. The same applies to changed surnames.

In the "Date of birth" item, you must indicate the date in reverse order: first the year, then the month, and only then the day. Otherwise, you will not be issued a Schengen visa. The sample of filling out the visa application form below will help you avoid such troubles and will enable you to fill out the form correctly.

The Place of Birth section indicates your city of birth or region. In this case, you need to focus on the data that is indicated in your passport. For example, if your hometown is Moscow, indicate it in the questionnaire. If you were born in the same city, and then your location changed (Moscow - Kursk), then in the application you need to indicate only the place in which you were born. If the place of your birth is the village of Druzhba, Ramensky district in the Moscow region, then you write down only the name of the region. It is these requirements that are contained in the instructions for filling out the application form for obtaining a Schengen visa.

If everything is clear with the country of birth and citizenship, then the column “Category of the travel document” needs some explanation. In particular, here you should indicate exactly the document that you will use when entering Germany or any other country in the Schengen area. In this case, there is no need to mention all the travel documents you have. Only one is needed. As a rule, this is a foreign passport.

In the "Destination country" item, indicate only the country in which you will be staying for the longest time during the trip (if you plan to visit several states at once during one trip).

In the column in which it is necessary to indicate the identification number, you must either enter this code or leave the field empty (if it is not there).

Points 14-17 indicate all the data of the international passport (series, number, when and by whom it was issued, the date of issue and expiration).

In those points where it is necessary to enter addresses (residence, work, study, etc.), there is no need to translate Russian names. It would be better to do transliteration. For example, "pr. Vernadsky" will look like "pr. Vernadskogo".

In paragraph 18, you should correctly check the box next to "Yes" (if you have dual citizenship) and "No" (if you do not have one).

In paragraph 19, indicate your current profession, the name of which must necessarily match the data in If you are not currently working anywhere, then it is recommended to put a dash in this column. University students enter "Student" and leave the contacts of the dean's office, the address and name of the educational institution.

In the column “Main purpose of the trip”, as shown by the sample of filling out the application form for a Schengen visa, you should indicate the real purpose of visiting the country. For example, tourism.

What should not be forgotten when completing the questionnaire?

Filling in the column "Planned time of stay", indicate the actual number of days. At the same time, remember: both medical insurance and hotel reservations must be calculated for the specified number of days. If you received an invitation to enter the country from your relative or friend (and it really is exactly three months), then it makes no sense to apply for a visa for 90 days. In the column under consideration, indicate as many days as you plan to stay in the Schengen country, not taking into account the validity of the invitation.
