The easiest and fastest way is by taxi, but you will have to pay 2000-3000 baht for convenience and speed. You can bargain with the driver and bring down the price by 200-500 baht. There is a counter in the airport building for ordering an official taxi, being anywhere in the capital, you can catch a car on the street. The road will take 2.5 - 3 hours.

Minivans

It is much cheaper to get from Bangkok to Hua Hin by public transport, the most popular being local minivans. There are several stops in the capital from where minibuses depart: Victory Monument metro station, Khao San Road, North and South bus stations.

Victory Monument metro station is located in the city center, so you can easily get here from almost anywhere in Bangkok, including from the airport. If, when exiting the metro, turn to face the monument, then on the left side near the Century shopping center, you can see the minibus parking; next to this building there is a kiosk where tickets are sold for 180 baht. Transport runs at intervals of 20-30 minutes from 5 am to 7 pm, it departs as it becomes full.

Being in the Khao San Road area, you can go to any travel agency and buy a ticket for a minibus to go to Hua Hin, but prices are higher here - from 400 baht. If you leave from the North or South bus station, the ticket will cost 180-200 baht. It's easier to ask the locals exactly where the minibus parking is, they will definitely tell you. In Hua Hin, all minibuses arrive at the clock tower (intersection of Phetkasem with Naeb Kehardt), which is very convenient, since this is practically the center of the city. You will have to spend 3-3.5 hours on the road.

In anticipation of numerous visits to us by our beloved friends and relatives, I present a detailed step-by-step instruction on how to get from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport to Hua Hin.

Just a small lyrical digression: in the fall of 2012, Air Asia stopped flying to Suwannapum, and is now based, together with other low-cost airlines, at the second airport of Bangkok Don Mueang. There is a free shuttle bus between both airports, journey time is about 40 minutes. The most convenient way to get to the city from Don Mueang is by taxi.

So, an overview of the most diverse ways to get from Suwannapum to Hua Hin:

BY PLANE

There is an airport in Hua Hin, but it is mainly intended for royal and military needs. Some airlines fly from it, but not to Bangkok.

BY TAXI

The fastest, direct, but also the most expensive way to get to Hua Hin. One way taxi will cost 1800-2000 baht (\u003d rubles). The official taxi stand is located on the first floor (Level 1 or Ground Level) of the airport, and you can get to it using blue signs with a typewriter and the inscription "Public Taxi".

At the Public Taxi counter, on a first-come, first-served basis, everyone is put into an ordinary city taxi, which then takes you aimlessly at the meter. In addition, you pay only 50 baht for landing at the airport and toll highway tolls. A taxi reaches Hua Hin in a couple of hours.

UPD: Read the discussion in the comments at the bottom of the post about unofficial methods of catching a cheap taxi at Suwannapum airport.

BY BUS

Also buses to Hua Hin depart from Bangkok Southern Bus Terminal, aka Southern Terminal, aka Sai Tai Mai. Buses leave every half hour from 4 am to 10 pm, travel costs in the area 200 baht depending on the class of the bus. Sai Tai Mai is located on the devil's horns, you can only get there by taxi or city buses.

BY TRAIN

Train Station there is only one in Bangkok, it is located in the center at the metro station Hualampong (this, in fact, is the name of the station). Several southbound trains leave every night and pass Hua Hin around midnight. The train ride is comfortable, but very long. This option can be used if you are arriving in Bangkok in the evening, when minibuses (about which further) are no longer running.

BY MINIBUS

The most popular and optimal combination of price and quality way to get not only to Hua Hin, but also to Cha-Am and Pranburi.

Minibuses in Hua Hin depart from the center of Bangkok from the metro station Victory Monument every half hour from 5 am to 6-7 pm.

1. At the airport, after receiving your luggage, we go to an ATM or exchange office and cash or change baht.

2. We go down to the underground floor of the airport B1, where the metro station is Airport Railway Link... Follow the signs "To City" with a train icon.

On the underground floor, next to the metro entrance, there is a 7-11 store where you can buy water and a SIM card, and a Dunkin Donuts cafe where you can have coffee and buns.

There are two types of trains from the airport to the city - red Express Line non-stop and blue City line with stops. The first one goes to the station Makkasan, and the second - to the station Phaya thai... A ticket for the first one costs 90 baht, for the second - from 15 to 45, depending on the length of the trip.

3. We buy tickets for the City Line from the machine to the final (Phaya Thai). The machine understands English and accepts bills and coins.

4. At the final station Phaya Thai (Paya Tai) we unload from the train and go to the station of the same name of the BTS Bts skytrain... There we again buy a ticket from the machine, but now only for one station - until Victory Monument... A diagram of this entire part of the Bangkok Metro is below.

5. At the station Victory Monument (it is located on the flyover above the street) we unload and go outside to the right side of the street along the train.

Here, in the side streets, minibuses nest, transporting people around Bangkok. The transport offices look like a cluster of white Toyota Hiace minibuses with ticketing tables nearby. They do not have a clear division by directions, so we are looking for posters with the inscription "Hua Hin, Cha-Am, Pranburi" or ask the inhabitants of the tables.

Minibus parking and minibuses themselves look like this:

And the barkers grazing on the street - like this. You can say "Hua Hin" to them, they will take you by the handle where necessary.

6. We buy a ticket for 180 baht to Hua Hin, we load into a minibus and go. Some drivers like to have fun, so it's best to bring something warm with you.

7. The road from Bkk to Hua Hin takes from 2.5 to 3.5 hours, depending on traffic jams and the number of stops. Minibuses load and unload people along the way, sometimes stop at gas stations or near cafes, but there is only one global stop on the route to Hua Hin - Cha-Am. This is a resort town 30 kilometers from Hua Hin, the driver usually announces a stop loudly. There is no need to go out to Cha Ame. It takes half an hour to drive from Cha-Am to Hua Hin.

8. In Hua Hin, all people are usually unloaded, even if the minibus goes on to Pranburi. There are two main stops in Hua Hin: in the center on Srasong Street and not far from Pechkasem Avenue. It is easy to distinguish these two stops: if you are on a narrow two-lane street, then this is Srasong, if on a busy four-lane highway with a bump stop, it means Pechkasem. Tuk-tukers and motorcycle taxis are constantly grazing at the stops, ready to take you anywhere in Hua Hin.

The location of minibus stops in Hua Hin is below.

There is an airfield in Hua Hin, but scheduled aircraft cannot land on the runway for a number of objective reasons, including inappropriate runway parameters. Against all odds, small private jets can fly to Hua Hin. You can also use a charter flight, the travel time of which is half an hour. The ticket price under such circumstances may vary from charter: ticket - 3-5 thousand baht (quite expensive).

Hua Hin is perhaps the most easily accessible gate-away from Bangkok. When you want to escape to the sea from the metropolis, Hua Hin is a very rational choice. In terms of distance from Bangkok, it is only a little further than Pattaya, but the atmosphere there is completely different. For Hua Hin, the glory of the city of sex tourism and crowds of Russian tourists are not found. Getting to Hua Hin from Bangkok is quite easy.

Taxi Bangkok - Hua Hin

The most expensive way to get to Hua Hin (apart from helicopter and other fantasies) is by taxi. On average, you will have to pay 2500 baht for a trip, although with the ability (and inability) to bargain, it may turn out to be less (and more). Taxi drivers do not like to drive long distances by the meter, so the price with the driver should be discussed in advance. Travel time is not much different from a trip by minivan or bus and is about 2 hours (if there are no traffic jams).

Bus and minivan Bangkok - Hua Hin

It should be borne in mind that if you have a lot of oversized luggage, then you may be asked for an additional fee in the minivan (depending on the driver's greed, up to the cost of the ticket).

Bus from Suvarnabhumi Airport

Trains leave from Bangkok's Hua Lampong train station (which can be reached by metro - you have to get to the station of the same name) and arrive at Hua Hin train station (between Soi 76 and Soi 78).

The seated cars along this route are simply awful: the lights don't turn off, the windows don't close, there are a lot of mosquitoes, and there are no air conditioners. The cost of a seat in a sleeper car is too high. So I don’t know who might be interested in a train ride.
