Where is the best place to relax in Fukuoka. Phu Quoc - full review of all places. Where to choose a hotel in Fukuoka

More recently, it was a quiet, calm island, where lovers of serene relaxation and those wishing to join diving came - the prices for services here were the lowest in this region. But this is all in the past. Today's Phu Quoc it is an actively developing resort: in recent years an international airport has been built here, a significant number of new hotels, including large international chains, have opened amusement parks and a safari park, a casino.

According to the Ministry of Tourism of Vietnam, the number of tourists on the island in 2017 was 361 thousand, which is 72% more than in 2016. It is assumed that by 2020 the island will be visited by 2-3 million people.

Phu Quoc is the largest island in Vietnam, located in the Gulf of Thailand, only 15 km from the coast of Cambodia and belongs to the year-round resorts in the country.

Some information about Fukuoka:

 • the area of the island is 573 km², the longest part is 50 km, the widest is 27 km;
 • population - about 190,000 people (in 2010 there were only 93,000!);
 • time zone - UTC + 7 (time difference with Moscow is 4 hours);
 • relief - jungle-covered hills (the highest point is 565 meters);
 • beaches are sandy;
 • sea - the Gulf of Thailand in the Pacific Ocean;
 • seasonality - a year-round resort, the high "dry season" lasts from November to May, in summer it is better to choose hotels in the northwestern and western parts of the island for recreation;
 • currency - Vietnamese dong (VND), 1 USD = 23258 VND, 1000 VND = 2.8 RUB.

Due to the geographical location of the island, there are practically no storms, tsunamis and other sea "delights".

Best season for holidays in Fukuoka

Climate on the island Phu Quoc typical for the region - monsoon subequatorial.

Phu Quoc considered a year-round resort: it is always warm here, but not always dry. It is the amount of precipitation that determines the high or low season.

High season

The best time to visit the island is from mid November to mid April. At this time, the weather is sunny and dry, the air temperature is 28 -32 ° С, the water temperature in the sea is 26-28 ° С. Precipitation at this time is extremely rare. Overall, this is the most comfortable period to visit the island.

Low season

June to October Fukuoka significant amount of precipitation falls - this is the rainy season. At this time it will be hot and humid, the weather, to put it mildly, is not for everybody. However, there is one weighty argument in favor of a trip to the island during this period - the prices for hotels and services will be the lowest.

The cost of accommodation in hotels and travel services in the low season is almost halved.

Fukuoka Hotels

Hotel base Fukuoka has an amazing variety - here you can find accommodation options from cheap hostels to villas of 700 m², many bungalow hotels, standing right on the beach.

The cost of a room for any wallet is from $ 9-10 in a guesthouse, $ 35-40 in a 3 * hotel and up to $ 150-250 in luxury hotels.

Most hotels offer accommodation that includes breakfast, have swimming pools, many hotels have their own beach areas, and provide transfers from the airport to the hotel and back.

The hotel base on the island is growing rapidly (however, these are mainly 5 * hotels). You can get acquainted with the most interesting novelties of 2017 - 2018.

Where to choose a hotel in Fukuoka

The busiest town on Fukuoka Duong Dong (Duong Dong) and the adjacent Long Beach are considered. It is here that the largest number of hotels, including the cheapest, are concentrated, many restaurants, bars, shops, a night market.

The next most active area will be the Ong Lang beach area - the beach itself is better, but the infrastructure of the adjacent area is much less developed.

On other beaches, besides the hotel, there will often only be jungle available, it makes sense to come here if you don't need anything other than nature and solitude. Hotels in such places are usually of a high level, appropriate service and comfort will be provided, but you will have to eat at the hotel itself, which, as a rule, affects the price, and for any purchases you will have to travel to Duong Dong (the distance can be up to 30 km ).

How to get to Fukuoka

By plane: the island has an international airport, international flights from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jakarta, Manila, Phnom Penh and domestic flights from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang arrive here.
You will have to get from Russia by Aeroflot or Vietnamese airlines with a connection in Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi. Travel time will be from 18 hours, tickets cost from $ 550. The most convenient connection will be in Ho Chi Minh City - it takes only 1 hour to fly to the island and there are a lot of flights.

Direct flights are offered only by tour operators (charters) during high season (November to March).

On water: high-speed boats will be of interest to those traveling around the country. Between Fukuoka (pier in the village of Bai Wong) and the mainland town of Hatien, there is a ferry crossing and speedboats. Travel time will be from 1.5 to 3.5 hours, cost from $ 13.

Fukuoka beaches

Fukuoka beach line stretches for 140 km. These are mainly sandy beaches, although there are also rocky areas.

The most popular beach is Long Beach, but not the best one - the water here is unclear due to the waves and the depth rises quite sharply. However, Long Beach has a well-developed tourist infrastructure, there are many hotels and most tourists choose this particular beach to stay.

If you love wild beaches, then you will find one without any problems, but be prepared for not very pleasant surprises: as elsewhere in Asia, the Vietnamese turn a blind eye to garbage. Efforts to clean up trash from the island have been noticeable in recent years, but the problem is far from complete.

Transportation in Fukuoka

Public transport on Fukuoka no. There are some private companies that transport local residents between the four main settlements (Duong Dong, Anthoi, Kua Kan, Ham Ninh). The movement is carried out according to only the known schedule.

Regular buses run only between the port of Anthoi and Duong Dong (once every 1-2 hours, the fare is $ 0.8).

Free Vinpearl buses run around the island, which take everyone to the Vipearl Land amusement park and Vipearl Safari safari park.

There are three options for tourists:

 • taxi: the trip will be safe, the cost depends on the company (there are several official taxis in Fukuoka) and the class of the car, landing - $ 0.5 - 0.7 (600-700 meters of the trip are included), each next kilometer is 0.5-0.6 $.
 • rent a Car: the cost will be from $ 50 per day, but for this you need to have international category B license, much more often the service of renting a car with a driver is offered - $ 70-100 per day;
 • rent of motorbikes: this is the most popular way to travel around the island - the cost will be from $ 4 per day.

Excursions, attractions, entertainment

If you went to the island with children, then number 1 on your list will be an amusement park and a safari park (in fairness, there is something to do there for adults without children). If you wish, you can visit the local history museum, the "coconut" prison, see how the pepper grows, buy fish sauce (and at the same time inspect its production), visit the Fukuoka Ridgeback nursery, in the National Park, ride the longest cable car.

We spent a full seven days in Fukuoka. We drove the island up and down. We visited basically all the places mentioned in travel booklets and not only. I decided to build this review on the principle: place - description, abandoning the more familiar structure of a diary by day. Recommendations for choosing the area of the island for accommodation and our hotel will be at the end.

How to get to Fukuoka

In 2012, a new airport (PQC code) opened in Fukuoka, which receives regular flights from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Haiphong and Can Tho. In addition, hundreds of charters fly here from all over the world.

The most convenient way to get to this Vietnamese island is from Ho Chi Minh City. Depending on the season and day of the week, the number of flights per day from Saigon can reach 10 or more. The journey takes only 1 hour. Flights are operated by Vietnam airlines, VietJet Air, JetStar. Ticket prices range from 4,000 rubles. up to 20,000 rubles. per round trip per person. We took tickets for New Year's dates 5 months before departure (in August). Low-cost airline - "JetStar", price - 4 300 rubles (round trip). I recommend booking tickets in advance if you want to save 10-15 thousand rubles. Aviasales to help.

Road from / to Fukuoka airport

If I am not mistaken, there is no public transport on the island. You need to get from the airport to the hotel by taxi or by a previously ordered transfer at the hotel. Taxi stands are at the exit, also in the baggage claim area. Everything is simple here, we show the hotel reservation with the address, pay for travel at the counter, get a voucher, go out into the street. We fall into the hands of the driver, who, according to the voucher, takes them to the hotel without any problems or questions. The island itself is not small, so the price of a taxi will be from 100,000 dong to 300,000 - 400,000 dong, depending on the location of the hotel.

Fukuoka beaches

The map below shows all the places we visited in Fukuoka:

Perhaps you need to start with what people fly here for 10-15 hours - beaches. The features of the climate in Fukuoka are such that:

 • November to March is dry season, wind blows from east to west;
 • From April to October, the rainy season, the wind blows from west to east.

Accordingly, all hotels and resorts are located on the western coast, since in winter, in season, this coast is quiet, closed from the winds. On the east coast, in the winter months, there are waves and a huge amount of mud and household rubbish, washed up from all over the Gulf of Thailand.

Bai Sao Beach - the pearl of the island. Phu Quoc and Vietnam in general

The place is very beautiful. The beach is located in a small cove surrounded by rolling hills covered with tropical vegetation. White sand.

At low tide (after lunch), the coastline increases greatly. The beach, especially in the photo, looks heavenly.

We failed to enjoy this natural beauty, relax, swim in the sea. There is so much dirt and debris that there are simply no words. Wild thrash. The entire coast is strewn with packages, bottles and other filth. The desire to swim here immediately disappears when a pack of condoms floats next to you and pulls a meter long snag along the bottom.

Infrastructure: along the beach, there are several cafes in traditional Vietnamese style - dirty tables, dishes, waiters sleeping on the go. I had no particular complaints about this, since this is Vietnam.

Each establishment diligently “removes” its coastline from dirt and debris. It happens like this: a Vietnamese rowing garbage into a bucket, moving beyond the territory of the restaurant's shore and pouring it out where the beach area does not belong to anyone. The sea again takes all this garbage in a wave and eventually nails it. Such is the cycle of idiocy.

One of our compatriots, who has been living on the island for more than 5 years, assured me that after the change of wind the beach would be removed and it would be exemplary. Local residents have the following mentality: why clean up today, if tomorrow the sea will again bring all sorts of rubbish.

I don't post a photo of dirt, so as not to spoil the impression of this place, because it is actually amazing. I hope the local authorities will pay attention and put in order this beach, which has no equal in beauty on the island.

Beach - continuation of Bai Sao

If you face the sea on Sao Beach, then on the right is another beach, which is different in the color of the sand, it is yellow.

There are huge boulders in the water and on the shore. The coastline is slightly narrower than that of Bai Sao. There are no restaurants or sun loungers here. In a way, this is a plus, since there are almost no people, you can throw a towel and lie down in solitude.

The main problem is again garbage, but oddly enough there is much less of it here, there is almost no water in the water, although there is no more than 1 km from Bai Sao. Apparently the tide features.

Ong Lang Beach

The most well maintained and cleanest beach in Fukuoka. The sand is fine, golden in color. There are many decent hotels and restaurants on the first coastline, hence the impeccable cleanliness, the adjacent territory is regularly cleaned. The sea is very calm and warm.

In some places there are areas with stone banks.

Large areas of this beach are occupied by hotels, mainly of the "bungalow" type. Since all the beaches in Fukuoka are public, this does not cause problems. You can swim and relax along the entire coastline. Restrictions only on the use of sun loungers and other beach equipment that belongs to the hotel.

Ganh Gio Beach

Ganh Gio Beach - Located south of Ong Lang Beach on the western part of the island. In fact, it is no different from Ong Lang. Unless access to the beach is possible only through the territory of the Shells Resort hotel (one of the most expensive in Fukuoka). You can say the beach is private.

The territory of the hotel may not be allowed, therefore, if you have not stayed at this hotel, then there is nothing to do on Ganh Gio Beach.

The rest of the beaches in Fukuoka

The above are places that I have studied well. We spent enough time on these beaches to form a concrete opinion about them. In addition to these places, during our stay on the island we were brought to several more beaches, I will say a few words about them.

Long Beach is the center of all Fukuoka beach activities. Its length is about 20 km. Probably 90-95% of all hotels and resorts are located on this beach and in its vicinity. I try to avoid places of such a crowd of people, so I will not give recommendations.

Duong Dong Beach - garbage dump, not suitable for swimming or relaxing

Thom Beach - garbage dump, not suitable for swimming or relaxing

More things to do in Fukuoka

Judging by travel brochures and notes, Phu Quoc is famous for not only beaches. We had enough time to take a close look at island life and all the tourist attractions. In addition to a beach holiday, Phu Quoc offers activities to guests for every taste:

 • hiking trails in tropical forests;
 • one day snorkeling / diving excursions to coral reefs and islands;
 • modern amusement park with water slides and attractions;
 • safari zoo;
 • rich excursion. Pepper factory, pearl factory, local fish sauce production
 • Getting to know the traditions and way of life of the locals (markets, street food, etc.)

Night market

I read a lot of comments and reviews about the night market before going to the island. People have described this place as a paradise for seafood and street food aficionados in general.

The market consists of several streets with street cafes, shops with nuts, souvenirs and other junk. Every reputable establishment has aquariums and fresh catch counters.

There are really no questions about the products, everything is fresh. A wide selection of shellfish, fish. There are exotic things - for example, sharks and other unknown creatures. It is interesting to look at marine life and tap them with your finger on the glass. This is a kind of miniature oceanarium.

Guests are invited to choose their own dinner. They cook, without exception, according to three recipes: grilled, boiled, boiled / stewed with local spices.

I can't stand obsession, so walking around the market was not very comfortable for me. The Vietnamese prevail from all sides, everyone offers to sit down in his institution. Cherkizovsky market in Moscow in the nineties, one to one. Only instead of sneakers and tracksuits they sell shrimp and squid here.

All eateries, and they cannot be called otherwise, are the same. Therefore we sat down where there were people and the most decent tables and tablecloths.

I don’t consider myself a squeamish person, but here the dirt is excellent everywhere. You can stick to the table tightly. I had to drink beer from a bottle, I didn't dare pour it into a glass. The seafood is fresh, you can endure it, let's go choose your own dinner. We took: shrimp, squid, sea urchins, oysters and some other shells. They didn't manage to spoil the shrimps, and what the hell were the rest of the dishes, for me was a big question.

With a clear conscience, I tried everything. Then the stomach ached wildly and we got away from the Night Market.

The bottom line. The sensations are such, resentment for a wasted evening on the island, besides, stomach ache after "delicious" seafood. In my opinion, there is absolutely nothing to do here. As a last resort, if you are really tired of sitting in a cozy restaurant on the coast with a glass of beer or wine, enjoying delicious and most importantly safe food, then go here to look at the bizarre critters in the aquarium, but in no case eat anything here. Not tasty and not safe.

Phu Quoc Pepper Farm

There are several pepper factories, or more precisely, pepper farms in Fukuoka. At least there are about five marks on the mapsme map. We visited the most "tourist" of them. It is located a couple of kilometers from the city of Duong Dong. See the map above.

At first, I did not understand whether we arrived correctly or not, since there were practically no identification marks of the factory, apart from the signs on the road. Anyway, the place looked more like an ordinary farmhouse. There is also a shop near the road where they sell pepper and coffee. The guy showed us how to get to the farm.

The place is a plantation where peppers are grown - austere rows of climbing plants.

There is a small orchard.

In the store you can buy many different options for ready-made seasoning. Black and white pepper, peas and ground, ground with garlic and soy sauce.

Perhaps that's all.

We stopped at a farm on the way with Bai Sao. You won't be able to stay here for more than half an hour, since, in fact, there is nothing to watch and do.

My opinion is that if you drive by, you must stop in order to buy pepper for a year in advance and then distribute it to all friends and relatives as a souvenir. I don't see any point in going here purposefully to see the farm.

Fish sauce factory, pearl factory

Both of these establishments are a common trick of local residents to get the attention of tourists. You go there and find only a shop where you can buy pearls or fish sauce. There is nothing more to tell. not worth going.

Tracking in Fukuoka (Ganh Dau trail)

There is no tracking routes, in the usual sense of the word for me, in Fukuoka. Let me explain a little: there is a huge national park on the island - a tropical forest, where monkeys, parrots and many others live in their natural environment. There are lakes, waterfalls, rivers, hills. However, there is no infrastructure and access to these natural reserves. Continuous impassable jungle.

In total, we had three trips to different parts of the island, in order to see wild monkeys, listen to tsecad, and generally get acquainted with the local flora and fauna.

In the north (map above) there is a route marked on tourist maps - Ganh Dau trail.

It is a path about 2 km long through the forest. The route is dead-end. Went to the end and back.

A couple of times there are such trees

On the trail, you feel that the forest is simply teeming with insects, snakes and other creatures. We were already closer to sunset and completely alone. Feelings are creepy, I'm happy.

It's all. There are no more equipped tourist routes in Fukuoka. Once we turned off the road and followed a path that was not marked on the tourist map (on my map "Forest")

After 15 minutes, we went out into a clearing, where the Vietnamese diligently cut the jungle. It looks like it's under construction for a hotel or something. They looked at us wildly, apparently it was unusual for them to see white people in the forest, and not on the beach.

A couple of times we tried to find a more or less sane road / trail that we could walk through the Phu Quoc National Park. Judging by the maps, there is a path that crosses the entire park, but we could not get out on it. The locals looked at us as if we were plague, waved their hands and sent us away from the forest.

The DT973 (Duong Dong - Bai Thom) road runs along the jungle. You can ride a scooter to the north and back comfortably along it to look at the local landscape. We had a chance to meet wild monkeys along the way.

In general, as I understand it, the national park is a wild and undeveloped place. Even the locals don't go there. According to verified information, there are over 61 species of reptiles alone. You can read about the park here.

My opinion:

As a wildlife lover, I just needed to try to climb into the jungle and see wild monkeys. I was pleased to see the nature of this region. Since the infrastructure for such a vacation on the island is completely uncomfortable, not everyone will like such entertainment. For those who are bored of lying all day on the beach, I can advise the following:

 • Walking route Ganh Dau Trail - will take 1 - 2 hours, you can "feel" the jungle a little, especially closer to sunset;
 • Take a scooter ride along the Duong Dong - Bai Thom road along the National Park. Will take about 1.5 - 2 hours round trip. You can meet wild monkeys.

Snorkeling / diving in Fukuoka

There are no living creatures and corals on the beaches of Fukuoka. Travel agencies offer day trips to the small islands located north or south of Fukuoka. We took an excursion to the northern islands, as on the southern ones there were unfavorable conditions due to the wind. There is no difference which islands to go to, the program is the same everywhere and includes:

 • Transfer from your hotel to Duong Dong Pier where the boat is waiting
 • The way to the islands by boat 1-1.5 hours
 • Fishing for about an hour on the donka
 • Snorkeling at the islands, about 2 hours
 • Lunch after snorkeling
 • free time on one of the beaches of Fukuoka, to which the boat brings

Price per person for a group tour is about $ 20-30, depending on the travel agency. We took a $ 120 private trip from Phu Quoc Beach Travel, an office located in the Ong Lang Beach area. It looked like the most decent agency, you can pay by card, there were even brochures in Russian with a description. Additionally, they offered to take a Russian-speaking guide for $ 20, we refused. As a result, the guide was our Russian former pilot who settled on the island in retirement.

We went to several other agencies: in one, the Vietnamese did not understand what a Private tour was and just pointed her finger at the brochure, in the other there was no one at all.

Since we had a private tour, we didn't have to go to Duong Dong to the pier. The boat itself sailed to us on Ong Lang beach, next to which we lived.

The purpose of the excursion is small islands: Fingernail Island (Little finger island) and Turtle Island (Turtle island). The journey takes about an hour. Next to them you can go fishing from a boat to a donkey, swim with fins and a mask.

It is difficult to call them islands. Small pieces of land that can be reached by swimming.

We tried fishing and decided not to waste time on it. firstly, it didn’t bite, and secondly, catching fish with the palm of your hand does not cause much interest.

We spent all the allotted time in the water on a coral reef

You can get out on land, have a little rest. There is garbage on the island that comes from the sea, and there is a lot of it. Some bottles, flasks in appearance have been here for years. Since they bring tourists here, why not collect all the dirt. The area of the island is only 100 square meters. But this is Vietnam, nobody cleans up the garbage here.

Two hours is enough to swim over corals and look at small fish.

On the way back from the islands, lunch is offered, which is represented by local dishes: Pho soup, rice, chicken. The meals are simple and tasty, especially after 2 hours on the water. From exotic for an additional fee, you can try sea urchins.

By 15:00 we were brought back to Ong Lang beach.

General impressions: If in your life you have not seen anything under water except sand and stones, then you must take an excursion. For beginners, snorkeling in Fukuoka will delight. It so happened that I first got acquainted with the underwater world when scuba diving in the Red Sea and now snorkeling or diving in other places does not cause me strong emotions. The local underwater world is scarce and not so motley and colorful, but it is here. I like an active vacation, I'd rather swim for 3 hours and look at corals than lie on the beach, so I recommend.

Safari Zoo in Fukuok (Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc) + Vinpearlland Amusement Park

Since we had plenty of time on the island, we decided not to bypass the recently opened Vinpearlland Amusement Park and Safari Zoo. They are located in the north of the island. We traveled around the island on a rented scooter all seven days, so we did not encounter a problem to get to one or another part of the island, but it seems that free buses also run from Duong Dong several times a day.

General tickets for 1 day (Vinperalland + Vinpearl Safari) were bought at the ticket office of the zoo at the price of 850,000 Dong per person. It was decided to start from the zoo, as it has less opening hours, from 09:00 to 16:00. The park is divided into 2 zones:

 1. Animals in cages;
 2. Safari Park.

The zoo is very decent. The territory is well-groomed, everything is thought out and worked out to the smallest detail.

The animals are nice to look at. Clean, well-fed. Their cells are very large, there is where to roam.

The second zone is the zoo safari. Tourists are transported by bus from one area to another. In each zone there are certain animals. The downside is that this bus is ordinary, the same as on the city route in Moscow. You have to look at the animals through the glass. This requires a high double-decker bus with an open second floor.

We could not stay here for more than two hours, the scorching sun is simply unbearable. the more we got here at the very peak of the heat, arrived at 12 and walked up to 2x.

Further about Vinpearlland. From the zoo by scooter about 10 minutes drive. The park is divided into several zones and offers the following entertainment: water slides, attractions, an aquarium, dancing fountain shows, etc. In a word, they have collected everything that is possible. We went here on a previously purchased single ticket at the zoo. I'll make a reservation right away that we were only interested in the park with water slides, we didn't go anywhere else, didn't look at anything. So here they are for a solid 4k. There are no queues. There are enough slides, there is a place for a child and an adult to ride. You can read more about the park.

Overall impression of Vinpearlland + Zoo.

I can only recommend spending a day at Vinpearl if you have visited all the other places from the list above, and you still have time on the island. Also, such parks will probably be of interest to tourists with children. You can spend the whole day here. It is better to start in the morning (from 9 o'clock) with the zoo, while the heat can still allow you to walk in the open air. There is little shadow in the zoo. After 12 you can move to Vinpearlland to the water slides and attractions.

Asia is famous for its sunsets, Phu Quoc is no exception in this regard. You can watch a beautiful sunset all over the western coast of the island. The sight is truly impressive. Every day we planned to arrive at Ong Lang Beach at 17:30 with a bottle of Tiger. Comments are unnecessary here.

By 6:00 pm the sun sets in Fukuoka, people start to wander around the hotels and by 6:30 pm - 7:00 pm decent restaurants are full. You can sit down, but not always at a comfortable table.

Where to stay in Fukuoka

When choosing a hotel in Fukuoka, the east coast of the island must be swept away immediately. There is no infrastructure here, the coast is one continuous garbage dump.

95% of the hotels are located on the west coast. For myself, conditionally, I divided all hotels into 4 zones (from north to south):

1st zone: North-west of the island. Vinpearl neighborhood

At the time of our trip, this territory was actively developed. Huge multi-storey premium chain hotels were built here. In addition to Vinpearl amusement parks, a casino is to open here in the near future. For whom all this is being built and who will live here, I don’t know. Europeans and Americans will not go here when they have Las Vegas, Miami, Ibiza, Nice at home. Moreover, given the mentality and service of local residents. Wouldn't recommend this area of the island. Those who want luxury have the road to Dubai, and by no means to Phu Quoc.

2nd zone: Hotels located along Ong Lang Beach

We lived in the area and I can safely say that this is the best place to stay in Fukuoka. Long Beach is the cleanest on the island. Local hotels have large green areas, almost all accommodation in "bungalows" and houses. This allows you to be closer to nature. Local residents do not live here, there is silence and tranquility. This area is located in the heart of the island, so it is very convenient to make excursions to other parts of Fukuoka from here.

Zone 3: Hotels in and around Duong Dong

I won't pay much attention. Only suitable for backpackers, and even then you can find more impressive options in other parts of the island for little money.

Zone 4: Hotels along Long Beach

Long Beach is not much inferior to Ong Lang. There is also a very clean coastline here, a large number of hotels for every taste and budget. The difference from the Ong Lang area is that the concentration of tourists here is several times higher. Hence the vanity, constant movement.

For those who value tranquility and privacy, I would recommend staying in the area of Ong Lang Beach, for everyone else - Long Beach.

We stayed at the Palm hill resort. A mid-range place, about $ 60 per night. The hotel is not located on the first line, about 10 minutes walk to Ong Lang beach. There is a green area, a small pool. Accommodation is exclusively in a bungalow. The cuisine in the local restaurant is about nothing, the only thing I can recommend is the fruit milkshakes, very tasty. Overall, the place is cozy and well worth the money.

For myself, I noted two of the most attractive hotels in which it is best to stay in Fukuoka in the Ong Lang beach area:

Coco Palm Beach Resort & Spa is the same price category, about $ 60 per night. The hotel is located on the first line. Excellent green area, 20 meters from the sea. There is a restaurant, the main feature of which is, again, its location; it actually stands on the beach. We dined here most often. It is better to come early, from one to three you will hardly be able to sit down. All the people from the beach are drawn here. Kitchen for a solid four. For the money, this hotel can be called one of the best on the island. On the territory of only 4 bungalows, the demand is huge. To get here in high season, you need to book 6 months in advance.

Mango Bay Phu Quoc Resort is the finest hotel in Fukuoka. If I come back to the island, I will definitely come here. The hotel has a huge green area. The beach in front of the hotel is quiet and secluded. Lots of sun loungers, hammocks. Mango Bay Restaurant is another reason to be scattered with compliments. Situated naturally on the shore. There is a veranda, sitting at a table, you can watch the stunning pictures of the sunset. Menu, service, food - everything is in the best European traditions. During the season, a night in this hotel starts from $ 200. The price is decent, but worth it. You need to book a room probably a year in advance. There were no rooms available 7 months before our travel date.

How to get around Fukuoka

There is no public transport on the island. You cannot rent a car, as tourists are prohibited by law from driving in Fukuoka.

The most convenient, in my opinion, way of getting around the island is a scooter. You can rent it at any hotel. The price is 150,000 dong per day. No documents, contracts, insurance. It's simple, took the bike and drove off. The traffic on the island is not as crazy as in Ho Chi Minh City or any other metropolis, so you can move around safely and without fear.

If for some reason the option with a scooter is not suitable, then all that remains is a taxi You can call at the reception of any hotel. The taxi runs on the meter.

General impression of Fukuoka

Should you visit Phu Quoc? Most likely my answer will be no. In Southeast Asia, there are much more beautiful and interesting places where you can spend your vacation: Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia.

If you still decide to visit this Vietnamese island, then I would recommend to devote no more than 5 days to it. This will be enough to relax on the beach and see Phu Quoc. My recommendations:

 • Hotel: Mango Bay or Coco Palm
 • Beach: Ong Lang
 • Excursions: Snorkeling to the islands
 • What to see: Bai Sao Beach, Pepper Farm, Hiking Trail, Vinpearl Zoo

Vietnam, Phu Quoc ... A very good and interesting choice of places to stay. Undoubtedly, Phu Quoc Island (Vietnam) is the central point of Southeast Asia. It is located quite close to major cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok and even Hong Kong. The area of Phu Quoc Island, which is part of Kien Giang province, includes 105 islets of various sizes, as well as the island itself, which is 46 km from Hatien, the city of the "mainland", which is the closest to this province.

Characteristics of the island's terrain

Fine sandy beaches occupy most of the territory, but there is also a mountainous area with 99 mountain peaks. The highest of them is the 603-meter peak of Chua Mountain. There are six large villages and cities on the island, such as the city of Duong Dong, Kia-Kan, An-Thoi, the village of Rash-Vem, Ham-Nin, Gang-Dau. Each of them carefully preserves its own attractions, features and traditions, which, of course, contribute to an excellent pastime on the island.

How to get to Phu Quoc (Vietnam)?

The most optimal time will be a flight on Vietnam Airlines flights, with a transfer in Ho Chi Minh City. If you are looking for minimal costs, the most attractive fares with two transfers to Phu Quoc Island are from Emirates and Air France.

Domestic flights

Daily domestic flights (Vietnam, Phu Quoc) are operated by Vietnam Airlines and Air Mekong from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh airports, as well as from Cann Tho. They last from 50 to 60 minutes, a one-way ticket costs about $ 40. Fukuoka (Vietnam) Duong Duong Airport is located in the center of the island, just two kilometers from Duong Dong city, so you can easily get to the city by different means of transport. You can get to the hotel by taxi for only 1.5-2 dollars.

When planning your trip to the island, make a one-day stop in Ho Chi Minh City on the way back and forth. Thus, it will be more convenient to get there, since there are more options for departure times from Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, you will visit an interesting city in a country like Vietnam. Rest (Phu Quoc is no exception) in it always leaves a lot of positive emotions.

Modes of movement

 • By car. Most of the various travel agencies offer car rental with a driver. You can rent a seven-seater car depending on the required number of seats and your wishes (it will cost about $ 100 for 3 days) or a 46-seat bus ($ 300 for 3 days). If you need a car for only one day, the rental price will be $ 35.
 • By taxi. The most convenient form of transport can be a taxi for those who want to get where they want to go without a guide. The fare for this type of transport will be 60-70 cents per kilometer. The most reliable carriers, as shown by tourists' reviews, are taxis from Mai Linh and Sasco.
 • By bike or motorcycle. Bicycle and motorbike rentals are often offered in hotels. Check with the administrator to clarify its terms. The rental price does not exceed $ 8 (not including the cost of gasoline) depending on which type of motorcycle you choose. The cost of renting a bike is calculated according to the principle of hourly pay.
 • A boat is another convenient means of transportation for traveling around the island and seeing local attractions, especially if you want to go fishing. Renting a boat for a group of up to 4 people will cost about $ 80 per day. Another 8 will need to be paid for each next passenger.

 • Bus. You can use the public transit bus for budget travel. There are three bus routes on Phu Quoc Island: No. 27, 28 and 29. In any direction, the ticket price will be approximately $ 2-2.5.

Of course, you should definitely take a walk around Duong Dong Market and have fun stopping at the counters of shops or street vendors, observing the life of the local population.

Best time to visit the island

The climate is subequatorial monsoon, there are two distinct seasons. The rainy season is from June to October. At the same time, rainy weather can last for 20 days. Phu Quoc (Vietnam) is best visited during the dry season, which lasts from November to May. Despite the fact that in most cases the weather allows you to travel around the island all year round, it has been proven by experience that the most favorable time for travel is from late October to mid-April. At this time, the sky is mostly clear and blue, the rains have already passed, and the dry season has begun. April and May are the hottest months of the year.

Best hotels

On the island, the variety of hotel facilities suggests a vacation for every budget and taste. There are most of the "three-star" hotels here (it should be noted that the star system usual for Europe does not exist in Vietnam, therefore each hotel sets its own status at its discretion). High service of the European level, no complaints about the rest, beautiful views of the sea or garden from a panoramic window can be obtained for about 1500-2500 rubles per day for two. These are the average prices for hotels in Fukuoka (Vietnam). They are mostly cozy, comfortable bungalows with thatched roofs in a traditional Vietnamese style.

You can find excellent accommodation in any of the island's most famous hotels. Positive feedback from tourists is about Coco-Palm Resort Phu Quoc, Arcadia Phu Quoc Resort, Saigon Phu Quoc Resort. Lang Cau Homestay offers some of the lowest prices for accommodation. A rest in a bamboo hut on Phu Quoc Island will cost no more than 500 rubles for two per day.

Island beaches

The first and only reason for some to visit Phu Quoc is the coastline with pristine paradise beaches. Until now, they are not fully explored, which gives the coast of this island a romantic beauty and appeal that you will not find anywhere else. Many tours to Phu Quoc offer beach holidays as their main program. The beaches of the island stretch from north to south along the coast.

 • Truong (Vietnam, Phu Quoc). This corner with a sandy white beach stretches for 20 kilometers: from Tau Ru beach to Dinh Cau. In the coastal waters you will find many inhabitants of the deep sea. The conditions for fishing are ideal here. There is also an opportunity to taste seafood right on the beach and watch local fishermen.
 • Ganh Dau is a beach located on the Cambodian border in the north of the island. The coastline, starting at Duong Dong, extends through the National Park to the north. It is a gorgeous white sand beach with ocean depths. While here on a clear day, you can see Mount Ta Lon located in Cambodia.
 • Sao. This beach is located near the pier of An-Thoi, in the south, 30 kilometers from Duong Dong. It's very quiet here. There are few merchants, so nothing stands in the way of enjoying the magnificent views to the fullest. The quality of service on this beach is beyond praise: from basic amenities (umbrella and sun lounger) to the restaurant.
 • Vung Bau is an idyllic beach located in the north of the island. Dai is nearby and Duong Dong is only 40 kilometers away. This beach will appeal to those who want to discover ecologically clean Vietnam.
 • Bai Thom is a deserted beach located in the north of Fukuoka. It is located 35 kilometers from Duong Dong. Quite secluded, making it ideal for adventure lovers.
 • Bai Vong is located 8 kilometers from Duong Dong. It is a shallow and wide white sand beach with a palm tree lane. There is good infrastructure here. In addition, this is where most of the best photographs are obtained.

Fukuoka cuisine

Phu Quoc Island (Vietnam) became famous for two things: national cuisine and beautiful beaches. Especially famous is the fish sauce called muoc mam, which has become popular in Vietnam and even in the world. You can watch its preparation at the factory located near the market in Duong Dong. Admission is free for everyone, but it is best to take a guide with you, who will tell you in detail about all the stages of making this sauce.

Get ready for the fishy spirit. The island has a large selection of seafood. According to the reviews, they taste delicious and always fresh. Shrimp, shellfish and fish will delight visitors to the island.

Sung Hung Pagoda

The Sung Hung pagoda, according to the Mahayana, is one of the oldest on the island. Fukuoka. It is located at the foot of the mountain, not far from the center of Duong Dong. There is no exact information about when and by whom it was built. Old-timers talk about two pagodas, called Hung Nhan and Sung Nghia, which were built long before her. These names then merged together, and today it is all called "Sung Hung Pagoda". It was rumored to have been built in the early 20th century. It was restored twice: in 1924 and in 1960.

It has an architecture that is unique to the ancient pagodas. The doors face north. The pagoda is surrounded by huge trees. It resembles a staircase in structure, becoming higher and higher with each step. It has a triangle-shaped gate leading to a statue called Avolokiteshvara Bodhisattva in the middle of the courtyard. The interior of the main hall, where the altar of the temple is located, is carefully decorated. Three Buddhas are sitting on the dais. The famous Flying Dragon masterpiece by artist Cao Sanh sits behind the statues.

There are many decorations inside the pagoda. For example, it is "Dai Hong Chung" - a large bell, as well as quotes from the philosophy of Chinese Buddhism engraved here.

It is quite easy to visit this pagoda. It is located near the center of Duong Dong. The entrance is free. This place is open for visiting from 7 am to 5.30 pm.

Kau Palace

This one of the most famous landmarks of the island is located on its western coast. Relatively recently, a palace was erected (in 1937) in honor of Thien Hau, the goddess of the seas. It is worth getting here at least for the beautiful views of the mouth of the Duong Dong River. Those who visit the palace at the end of November will have a special spectacle. At this time, a festival dedicated to Thien Hau is held here (according to the Buddhist calendar - the 15-16th day of the 10th lunar month).

Coconut prison

This attraction, also known as "Phu Quoc Prison", is located in a city called An-Thoi. It was called "Coconut" during the Indo-Chinese War, as well as when French colonists ruled in Vietnam. At that time, there were 4 sectors in the prison, and it is believed that up to 14 thousand prisoners were held. But after the war ended, most of the prisoners, according to the Geneva agreements, returned home.

With the outbreak of the Vietnam War, American troops built a new prison with the same name. It had separate sectors for the elderly, women and men. In 1966, another part was added, intended for Vietnamese soldiers serving sentences. It had 12 separate sectors, each of which was divided into 4. The prison was very strictly guarded, and surveillance was conducted around the clock.

Since 1986, it has been recognized as a historical heritage site for a country like Vietnam. Fukuoka does not use it for its intended purpose today. Excursions are now held here, instruments of torture tested on prisoners are kept. For example, this is the "Katso Tiger Cage", where the prisoner was in complete darkness for a long time. People most often became blind after being freed from it.

Magic well

This attraction is located 2 kilometers from An-Thoy. The green slopes of the mountains, the magnificent landscapes of the lake will arouse genuine interest among tourists. There is a small temple on the mountain, as well as a throne made of pink stone called the "Royal Throne". You can see when approaching the Magic Well the stella in the place where the "King's Sword" once entered. Later, a cool spring came from here.

The Magic Well has not only historical, but also mystical significance. King Nguyen and his warriors, fleeing from the troops of Ta-son, who were pursuing them, in the 17th century were exhausted from the lack of drinking water. In order to survive, the king had no choice but to pray to the Almighty, raising his sword to heaven. Immediately after he plunged his sword into the ground, a stream of water began to flow from under it. Having chosen Phu Quoc Island as a refuge, having rested and recovered from the defeat in the Tai-Son rebellion, Nguyen (king) was able to defeat his troops and take control of the Saigon region in a few years.

- the largest and most "heavenly" in Vietnam. This is, of course, in quotation marks, because it is still very far from heaven. All about Phu Quoc Island 2019, how to get to Phu Quoc, what to see and which hotels in Phu Quoc in Vietnam to choose.

Phu Quoc has not yet been promoted, crowds of package tourists do not come here, there is not a lot of traffic, even roads are not everywhere. Moreover, direct charters fly to Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam for only a few years. Mostly from Moscow. And not every day. From the pluses of Phu Quoc Island - the roads are far from the coast, so there are hotels right on the seashore.

Fukuoka Map

To navigate the island, I recommend our branded offline map of Fukuoka. It highlights hotels, shops, attractions, exchange rates, weather. The map plots the route and determines the location without the Internet!

We went in a big company to Phu Quoc Island in 2019 for two weeks. Before leaving, we thought for a long time where we should go, to Vietnam or Thailand, but nevertheless decided to stop in Vietnam. Because they really wanted to visit the neighboring country of Cambodia, to see the cable car to Pineapple Island (the longest cable car in the world over the sea!). We also wanted to get acquainted with Vietnam, which carries the culture of Western and Eastern civilization.

In general, going to Phu Quoc in the summer is not a good idea. July is the rainiest month of the year. It rains like a wall for 2 weeks in a row. But at the end of August, Fukuoka is already not bad, there are several days without rain at all. But on the west side of Phu Quoc Island there are winds and waves. The rainy season officially lasts until October.

Phu Quoc Vietnam

Phu Quoc, Vietnam is a former French colony that has been heavily influenced by China and has long and well-established ties with Russia. I never expected to see our KAMAZs and UAZs in Fukuoka, and there are many of them here.

Phu Quoc, Vietnam is located in the southwest of the country on the border with Cambodia. The travel agency assured us that this is one of the best vacation spots in Vietnam, with excellent beaches, Fukuoka hotels in Vietnam and a lot of entertainment for a large company.

In fact, everything that was said in the travel agency turned out to be untrue. Phu Quoc is a village where tourism is in its infancy. The beaches are dirty and littered with debris. If the beach is from the hotel, then of course it is removed. Around the eternal construction site, you can not drive up to the sea everywhere. The roads are half unpaved, there is no lighting. But first things first.

Tours to Phu Quoc and Nha Trang

If you want to visit Phu Quoc Island 2019 for 1-2 weeks, then it's easier to buy a tour. The price includes direct flight, transfer, hotel and insurance. If you go alone, then only with a change.

How to Get to Phu Quoc

The most convenient way to get to Fukuoka on your own is to fly by Aeroflot or Vietnam Airlines through Ho Chi Minh City. The flight was quite comfortable and took place on a Boeing 767. The flight time was 9.5 hours, during which we were fed, watered, and it was also possible to occupy yourself with watching entertainment programs. Upon arrival at Ho Chi Minh Airport, we had to transfer to local airlines.

Now it is easier to buy a tour to Phu Quoc, where there will be a direct flight. Such tours are sold by "Sanmar" and "Coral Travel". Therefore, you do not need to worry about transfers.

Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City is on the outskirts of the city. The most remarkable thing is that there is nothing connecting between the terminals, there are no crossings, escalators and monorails. Upon arrival, after obtaining a visa, passing through passport control and customs, you will need to walk about half a kilometer to the terminal on foot. Fortunately, we only had hand luggage with us and the distance was short. For the future, we realized that you can also take a taxi, with a boarding fee it turns out about $ 10.

Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc

Fukuoka landmarks

Winperl

Arriving on Phu Quoc Island Vietnam in 2019, you need to visit one of the main attractions - Vinperl. It was built in literally 1 year, but it is still being completed. Winperl consists of two different parks, one with rides and water slides, the other a safari park. You can take a ticket separately, for rides 500,000 dong, for safari 600,000 dong, there is a single ticket for one day for 850,000 dong. Winperl tickets are sold in all hotels and travel agencies. With this ticket, you can take revenge on the bus (goes along the main road towards Vinperl) and get there for free. The reverse is the same. But this is only if you have a ticket. We liked the Fukuoka safari. Part of the park is set aside for a zoo, and part for a safari. You need to take a bus (included in the ticket price), which will travel through the savannah with wild animals.

Cable car

Sun World Cable Car is one of the best attractions in Fukuoka. The ticket costs 500,000 dong, for this amount you will get to Pineapple Island and back. The road passes over the sea, from above there are beautiful views, as if you are flying low on an airplane. On Pineapple Island you need to take a golf cart (called "buggy station" and drive to the beach). This is all included in the price. Free sun loungers, chairs, showers, toilets on the beach. There is a cafe with unlimited food (just near the beach), it costs 250,000 VND per person. To swim in the sea, it is imperative to wear a vest (this is carefully monitored by lifeguards). Coming to Phu Quoc Island 2019, the cable car and Pineapple Island are a must see!

Coconut prison

The Coconut Prison is the eerie reality of Fukuoka, once a prison island. Here you will see the cells in which prisoners were kept in inhuman conditions. The coconut prison closes at 17.00, so we didn't get there the first time (arrived late). I had to go another time.

Museum of local lore

There is a local history museum in the southeast of Phu Quoc Island. You can go there, but not necessarily. It's just that if there is already nothing to do, then you can.

The main attraction of Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam is, of course, its nature, and almost all specimens of the local flora and fauna are collected here. Those who wish to experience all the species and in one place while on holiday in Fukuoka will find the museum interesting.

Kau Palace

Cau Palace is one of the landmarks of Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam; it also has the same name as the Temple of the Sea Lady of Vietnam. We got there by taxi, as it is located relatively close to our Fukuoka hotel in Vietnam, near the Duong Dong embankment.

This palace in Fukuoka serves as a lighthouse and has the status of a temple, and for the most amazing religion in the world - "Kaodai". Admirers of this religion recognize famous personalities as saints: Tolstoy, Lenin, Churchill, etc. So coming to Phu Quoc Island 2019, you can still pray for our famous ancestors.

What else to see and where to go

On Phu Quoc Island, we went to a rubber plantation, learned how black pepper grows and went to a fishing village, where we were fed a delicious lunch.

Vietnam has the cheapest diving school, so if someone has a desire to learn, I advise you to do it here.

We also flew to Hanoi with the whole company while on holiday in Fukuoka, where the main attractions of Vietnam are located: Ho Chi Minh Palace, the Temple of Literature and others. Low-cost airlines and Vietnamese airlines fly there directly from Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam. A round trip ticket costs about $ 100 per person.

Phu Quoc: review

In conclusion, I would like to note that if you have seen enough beautiful pictures on the Internet, then the real Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam has nothing to do with them. Yes, if you rent a luxury hotel and do not go beyond it, perhaps ... There will be paradise. But this will not be the real Phu Quoc, but just a picture.

If you want to explore Phu Quoc, Vietnam, then a bad road, mud, debris and eternal construction awaits you. But this is real Vietnam. This is something worth seeing. Don't expect great service outside the hotel, it just isn't there. This will not tell the travel agency, you know.

About tips. We argued with friends for a long time, shared our experience, how best. On the example of the then not yet spoiled places of Thailand, Bali, Goa ... People came, left big tips, and local residents decided that prices were very low and began to raise them. In general, we have come to the conclusion that there is no need to tip in Fukuoka in Vietnam. In order not to spoil and spoil the locals.

Phu Quoc, Vietnam is a beach holiday after all. But the locals don't really cherish such beauty. If there is a city nearby, the water will be dirty. If there is a hotel nearby, then everything will be clean and well maintained. Direction Phu Quoc, Vietnam is actively developing. Now huge complexes are being built on the seashore in all parts of the island. The food in Fukuoka is varied and delicious, with a lot of seafood that I love. But the menu is often without prices, so tourists pay more for everything.

In Fukuoka, few people know English, Russian, of course, too. Therefore, you often need to express yourself on your fingers. There are no prices in many shops, in the market and even in cafes, which personally does not suit me very much. The price will be shown on a calculator or a bill will be taken out, but what the cost will be depends on the mood of the seller.

By the way, Russians are treated very well in Fukuoka. But they don't like the Chinese. The service at our Fukuoka hotel in Vietnam was of a high level, and in general I liked everything. I recommend Phu Quoc Island 2019, Vietnam for those who have already visited Asia and are not afraid of dirt and debris.

 • Tours for May around the world
 • Last Minute Tours around the world

Framed by snow-white beaches and hiding somewhere in the depths of the emerald jungle, until recently Phu Quoc was a sleepy and quiet island in the middle of the Gulf of Thailand. Today it is a popular destination for gentlemen from the West who want to spend a slushy European winter in the sun, or even completely escape from office everyday life in the countryside, into the wilderness, but with an exotic touch.

The island lies 15 km south of the coast of Cambodia. With a length of about 50 km, Phu Quoc is the largest island in Vietnam. Once, in 1760-80, it was the main base of the French missionary Pinho de Been.

Despite the fact that tourism on the island is developing by leaps and bounds - a new international airport has appeared, casinos and hotels, golf courses and roads are being built - most of Fukuoka is still a thicket that is part of the national park. This means there will be an abundance of natural "wildness" here, but, tired of it, no one will forbid drinking a cocktail by the pool. If we consider that the size of this land area reaches, for example, the area of Singapore, then you should not be afraid to feel sad or bored at all: diving, kayaking, excursions to all kinds of farms, finally, luxurious massage, beach idleness and long feasts with fresh seafood is just part of the pleasures that Phu Quoc prepares for its guests.

How to get to Fukuoka

From Moscow's Domodedovo airport, Vietnamese Airlines operate a flight to Phu Quoc with a transfer in Ho Chi Minh City. Ticket price from 550 USD, travel time 18 hours. A flight with Aeroflot from Sheremetyevo with a stopover in Hanoi will cost almost 2 times more. Alternatively, fly with two transfers through the UAE, Singapore, China, Thailand and the Vietnamese cities of Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Ratzya. The prices on the page are for September 2018.

You will have to get from St. Petersburg with at least two transfers - Es Seven and Vietnamese airlines fly from Pulkovo to Fukuoka via Moscow and Ho Chi Minh City. Ticket price from 650 USD, travel time from 18 hours.

Fukuoka International Airport is located a few kilometers from the city of Duong Dong and the main resort area - Long Beach. You can get from it to the place by taxi (from 150,000 - 260,000 VND). Many hotels provide free shuttle service.

Tourists who are already in Vietnam may find it more convenient to use the ferry. Superdong speedboats operate twice a day between Ha Tien and the island (website). The cost of the trip is about 13 USD, the travel time is 2.5 hours. The "rockets" arrive at the pier of the Bai Wong village. Transfer to Duong Dong can be purchased at the box office when purchasing a ticket for 27,000-54,000 VND.

Fukuoka districts

The center of the island is Duong Dong (locals pronounce "Duong Dong") - a small town on the west coast, not far from the airport. Duong Dong and the nearby Long Beach is the busiest part of Phu Quoc. Travel agencies, cafes and shops work here. Since all this is rare in other parts of the island, it is better to settle closer to the city, since the vast majority of hotels are located here.

The most inexpensive accommodation options can be found in Duong Dong.

Less busy area of the island is the area adjacent to the Ong Lang beach. It is quieter here than on Long Beach and less developed infrastructure, but the beach itself is better. You can choose to stay in other parts of Fukuoka only if you really want privacy, since there is nothing to be found around the hotel except for the wild nature. In this case, you will need to eat at the hotel restaurant, and go to Duong Dong for any purchases.

Transport

There is no public transport on the island, and a car can only be rented with a driver. Most tourists travel by taxi or scooter. The taxi ride is affordable and safe. Calculation with the driver is carried out according to the meter - from 25,000-30,000 VND per km or about 1,000,000 VND per day. Sometimes you don't even need a passport to rent a scooter. There are rental points in almost all hotels - prices from 43,000 VND per hour or 100,000 VND per day. And a bicycle will cost even less - VND 45,000-55,000 per day. There is a regular service between Anthoi port and Duong Dong - buses run once an hour or two, the fare is VND 20,000.

Connectivity and Wi-Fi

The main mobile operators in Vietnam are Mobifone, Vinaphone and Viettel. Their network operates throughout the country, including Fukuoka. There is no concept of internal roaming - you can buy a SIM card in Hanoi and use it on the island at the same rates. A call to Russia will cost about VND 3,500 per minute. The quality of mobile Internet from these operators is good - sometimes even better than in hotels. SIM cards for 70,000 VND are sold everywhere, including in small street shops, but for micro- or nano-variants you will have to contact specialized communication offices. The balance of the account is replenished with the help of cards - they are sold in the same place as SIM cards. Almost all restaurants and hotels in the resort are provided with free Wi-Fi.

Fukuoka Hotels

There are accommodation options on the island of various levels - from guest houses to hotels belonging to well-known international hotel chains. Many even budget hotels are designed in an eco-style - bungalows, surrounded by a spacious green area, stand right by the sea. A night in a mid-range hotel will cost approximately VND 800,000. Renting a room in luxury hotels costs from 6,000,000 VND per day. These complexes usually have restaurants, swimming pools and a spa. The cheapest accommodation is offered by hostels not on the first coastline - from 250,000 VND per night. Given the small size of the island, even in this case, the road to the beach does not take much time.

"Hot" time in Fukuoka - New Year's holidays. Hotels should be booked well in advance.

Beaches

The island's beaches are deservedly considered one of the cleanest and most beautiful in the world. With the exception of a couple of the most popular coasts, they are all uncrowded, quiet places where nothing prevents you from enjoying your holiday by the sea. The main tourist beach in Fukuoka is Long Beach.

"Long Beach" is the English-language name of the beach, locals call it "Truong". On some maps of the island, it is indicated by this name.

Long Beach is regularly cleaned, so it looks well-groomed. And yet, this is not the best beach on the island: the water near the coast is slightly muddy, as the waves constantly stir up the sand, and the entrance to the water is rather sharp - 10 meters from the coast you can only stand on tiptoe. But there are a lot of sun loungers, which you will not find on other beaches of Fukuoka. Crowded during high season because this is where most of the hotels are located.

Like other beaches on the west coast of the island (Ong Lang, Bai Zai), Long Beach offers picturesque sunsets - surrounded by crimson clouds, an orange solar ball slowly plunges into the sea.

The second most popular beach on the island is Ong Lang. It is located on the west coast of Fukuoka, as is the town of Duong Dong, 8 km away. The infrastructure here is worse than on Long Beach, and there are also many hotels. And the beach is located not so far from the tourist center of Fukuoka, so this is a fairly convenient option for living. "Ong Lang" is perfect for a beach holiday - it is not crowded here, palm trees overhead, fine sand underfoot, clear water up to the horizon, the entrance to the water is gentle, there are almost no waves. Individual areas are cleaned regularly.

Bai-Zai Beach is located north of Ong Lang, on the west coast - one of the best on the island. It was he who once got into the selection of the best beaches in the world, which was published in the famous Western media, and thereby attracted many tourists to Phu Quoc. Today, Bai-Zai is no longer the “totally secluded beach” that ABC News described it in 2008, but even now, apart from a couple of hotels and restaurants, nothing reminds of civilization on it. A strip of yellow sand stretches for several kilometers along the sea, and a road runs parallel to it, so it's not difficult to find the beach - just turn off the road in the place you like. The main thing is to choose a place where there is a shadow, there is a problem with that. The entrance to the water is shallow, the water is clear, the sand is medium-sized and pleasant to the touch.

Bai-Sao Beach is the pride of Fukuoka. The word "bai", which is found in the names of the beaches, literally translates as "beach".

"Bai-Sao" is located on the east coast of the island, which is not as developed as the western one, so there are much fewer tourists here. White, very soft sand, clear turquoise water, coconut trees leaning over the shore - convincing proof that the perfect beach from the Bounty chocolate commercial really exists. True, there are still a couple of fly in the ointment: firstly, the territory is cleaned only near beach restaurants, garbage is found in other places. Secondly, a visit to "Bai-Sao" is part of many excursions, so tourists are brought here in large quantities, by buses - hence the garbage on the sand and in the water. Despite all this, the beach is definitely worth the trip. And even the remoteness from the tourist center of the island (about 30 km) should not stop those wishing to relax here (in the ratings of the country's beaches, "Bai-Sao" is usually in the top three). The coast is gentle, the sea is almost always calm, the water is clear. If you walk along the coast, you can find quiet, uninhabited places. Before a walk, you should buy water and food in a few restaurants - the only "centers of civilization" on this beach.

Long Beach, Ong Lang, Zai and Sao are the most popular, but not the only, beach destinations on the island. In addition to them, there are a dozen more small beaches located on the west and east coasts. The best way to visit them is to rent a scooter and go on your own.
