There are several dozen beaches in Bali. The most popular are located at the southern tip and the Bukit Peninsula. There are beautiful places on the eastern and northern coast of the hedgehog. All beaches are very different, differing in the color of the sand, the height of the waves, and the development of infrastructure.
Below is a list of attractions where you can learn more about the beaches of the island. Follow one of the links to read about each specific location. And on this page I will tell you about the general features of Balinese beaches.
There are many interesting sights on the island. All of them are divided into types, which can be found in the "Places by category" block. Now you are in the "Beaches" block, to go to another, you need to click on the corresponding link. Then you will be taken to a page where objects related to the category you are interested in are presented. To see a complete list of attractions, you need to click on the "All places" button.
Dr Imland Beach in Bali is located in the southern part of the island - on the western coast of the Bukit Peninsula. The beach is covered with golden light sand, its length is about 500 m. High waves made the beach one of the best surf spots on the island, but for swimming it is better to look for another place.
Balangan beach (or Pantai Balang an) is located on the Bukit Peninsula, in South Kuta - not far from the village of the same name. It is 25 kilometers from Denpasar. Balangan Beach is considered one of the best surfing spots due to its high waves. Moreover, it is one of the most picturesque coasts of the island.
Padang Padang Beach is located in the southwest of the Bukit Peninsula, in the Unggasan Villag e, Pecatu District. It is 28 kilometers from Denpasar. It is surrounded by limestone cliffs with a carved cave leading to the coast. This is one of the few beaches in the southern part of the island where you can swim, and it is also suitable for surfing.
Lembeng Beach is located in the south of Bali, near Sanur and a few kilometers from Denpasar. It is covered with black sand, a palm grove grows nearby, in contrast to the blue water this creates an excellent panorama. People come to the beach to watch the sunset, take a walk or have a picnic. The waves are high here, so the place is good for surfing.
One of the most popular tourist destinations in northern Bali is Lovina beac h beach. It is located in Buleleng province, 9 km from Singaraja. The sand is black, of volcanic origin, the waves are small. The place is suitable for swimming, diving, snorkeling, fishing, quiet family recreation.
Legian is a small village 7 kilometers southwest of Denpasar. Like most resort areas, it was an ordinary fishing village until the middle of the last century, until its coast attracted tourists. Today, Legian Beach is considered one of the best on the whole of Bali. And now I will tell you why.
Whi te Sand beach (White Sand Beach), or Virgi n Beach (Virgin Beach) in Bali is located near Chandidasa, between the villages of Bug bug and Perasi. This is one of the few places in the east of the island where the coast is covered with white sand. Shallow waves allow swimming and snorkelling. There are few people here, as the beach is far from popular tourist routes.
Keramas beach (or pantai Keramas) is located in the southeast of Bali, near Sanur, in the Gianyar regency, Sukawati region. It is considered one of the best for surfing. The infrastructure is well developed here: there is a bar, a club with a restaurant, several hotels and even a dolphinarium. Rural landscapes surround the beach.
Nusa Dua is a fashionable resort and beach in Bali. It is located in the southeastern part of the Bukit Peninsula, along the coast of the same name, 1 0 km from the Bali airport Ngurah Rai. This resort has everything: clean sandy beaches, cozy gazebos, a protected area, luxury hotels and secluded villas.
Jimbaran (Djimbaran, Jimbaran) is a resort in the southwest of the Bukit Peninsula in Bali (Indonesia). It is located in the Jimbaran Bay (Teluk Jimbaran, Jimbaran Bay) and is considered a popular destination for travelers due to its favorable geographic location and well-developed infrastructure. In addition to natural beauty, the resort's feature is considered to be the widest selection of seafood and dishes from them, since this place is the center of fishing in Bali.
Pandawa beach (or Pantai Pandawa) is located in the southern part of Bali, on the Bukit Peninsula. The coast is lined with white sand and surrounded by high limestone cliffs. Until recently it was a place unknown to tourists. Now a beautiful view of the azure ocean attracts both local residents and visitors. Unlike other beaches on the island, you can go kayaking in the Indian Ocean here.
General description of the beaches
According to the laws of Indonesia, beaches in Bali cannot be redeemed as private property, therefore most of them are public. Only a few prestigious front line hotels have protected coastal zones, where outsiders are not allowed. On the island you can find both crowded and secluded beaches. There are long sandy strips stretching for several kilometers, and very tiny sections of the coast, where you can go only at low tide. Some beaches are popular with locals, others are mainly visited by tourists.
To choose the perfect beach for your vacation, you need to know the following:
- What is its appearance
- What is it for
Now let's take a look at each of these points.
What Balinese beaches look like
Very different coasts can be found on the island. I would recommend visiting several beaches in order to better understand the diversity of the island.
But when choosing a specific place to stay, you should pay attention to the following points:
- Sand color
- Wave height
- The purity of the ber ega
- Infrastructure
So, here are the main differences between the beaches, in terms of their appearance.
Sand
The beaches of the island do not always correspond to the tourist's idea of a tropical paradise. The sand here comes in different colors:
- White
- Yellow or gold
- Grey
- Black
There are two active volcanoes on the island. The ash that is formed during their eruption ends up on the beaches. The eastern coast is closest to volcanoes, so the sand is black. In the north, it has a more gray tint. In general, in Bali, white sand beaches can be found only on the Bukit Peninsula and small islets located nearby (Nusa Penida, Lembongan, Gili). On the southern coast - in Kuta and Seminyak - the sand is yellow-gray. In Sanur and Nusa Dua it is white and golden, but it is not natural, but imported.
The structure of the sand is also different. Black volcanic - mostly small, sticks to a wet body and pukam. Although there are beaches with rather coarse black sand, reminiscent of very small pebbles. White sand in Bukit is both coarse and fine. Gray is made up of different factions. In addition to sandy beaches, there are rocky beaches on the east coast of the island. They are covered with black cobblestones of various sizes.
Waves
The island is not called a mecca for surfers for nothing. Due to the special structure of the bottom and coral reefs near the coast, quite high waves are formed on the local coasts.
They are divided into three types:
- Close-out - closed waves, suitable for riding in foam, quite dangerous when their height reaches two meters or more
- Gentle waves (Spilling waves) - typical for the coast with a slight slope of the bottom, do not form pipes, suitable for beginner surfers
- Plung ingwaves - fast waves that break into a tube, suitable for advanced and professional surfers
The height and type of wave depends on the ebb and flow, the direction of the wind. In the southwestern part of the island, the waves are higher in the dry season, since southeastern winds blow here at this time. On the opposite coast, the ocean is more turbulent during the rainy season, due to the south-westerly winds. High waves are more typical for the southern tip of the island. The best in this sense are the beaches of the Bukit, Kuta and Seminyak peninsulas.
However, you can also find calm places with small waves. Most of them are located in the north of the island, in the area of the Lovina resort. There are good places on the east and southeast coast - first of all, this is the Sanur resort. There are low waves on some beaches of the Bukit Peninsula - Padang Padang, Jimbar an, Nusa Dua.
Purity
Interestingly, you can find completely opposite reviews about the same beach. Some visitors write that it is almost perfectly clean, others talk about terrible dirt. In fact, it all depends on the location, infrastructure and season.
Conventionally, I would divide the beaches by cleanliness into several categories:
- The protected beaches near the hotels are the cleanest. Garbage from the coast is removed several times a day.
- Public beaches with well-developed infrastructure are fairly clean. Garbage is cleaned up in the morning and in the evening.
- Public beaches with poor infrastructure - cleanliness depends on the time of day and season. There is less garbage in the mornings than in the evening, it is very dirty during the rainy season.
- Wild secluded beaches - they can be either clean or dirty - it all depends on the location and the season. But on such coasts, garbage left by tourists is less common. Most often it is just algae.
It is important to note that during the peak of the rainy season (from late January to early March), almost all beaches are muddy. The sea brings a lot of garbage, and the coast does not have time to clean up even at prestigious resorts. Of course, tourists who have visited one of the beaches at this time will not leave the best reviews about it.
There is one more nuance - according to the local religion, the ocean is considered a sacred place. People come here to make offerings to the gods. Fishermen do not go to sea without this ceremony. On many beaches you can see small altars where the locals bring their ritual gifts in the form of wreaths of flowers, traces, twigs and fruits. Especially many offerings are brought on the Balinese New Year, when traditionally religious ceremonies are held by the sea. Over time, the wreaths dry up, are carried by the wind, float into the sea, but then come back.
But the remnants of the ritual offerings cannot be compared with what the vacationers leave on the shore. Bottles, bags, plastic dishes - all this at high tide again ends up on the coast. Some beaches have concrete piers. Garbage, adjoining these piers, lingers for a long time, interfering with swimming.
Infrastructure
The infrastructure of the beaches on the island is very different. In the guarded areas near the hotels, the principle is "all inclusive", here you can find any services. There are many public beaches with fully or partially developed infrastructure. There are also completely wild places where there is nothing but sea and sand.
In terms of infrastructure development, beaches are conditionally divided into the following types:
- Well-developed infrastructure
On these beaches you can rent sun loungers, umbrellas, surfboards, equipment for diving, snorkeling and other types of recreation. They offer a lot of interesting entertainment - beach volleyball, banana rides, jet skis and much more. Also, the infrastructures include lifeguard stations, showers, toilets. There are cafes and restaurants near the coast or on the beach itself. All places of this type are paid, prices vary widely. A separate category includes protected beaches near hotels, where outsiders are not allowed.
The beaches with the best infrastructure are located in the resorts of Kuta, Seminyak, Nusa Dua and Sanur. In the east and north of the island, similar places can be found only near hotels.
- Average infrastructure
On such beaches, many of the services listed above are provided. But there may be no lifeguard station, rental of sun loungers and equipment for relaxation, sometimes there is no shower or toilet. Cafes can be represented by a small bar, a shop with local dishes or fast food.
Beaches with a moderately developed infrastructure can be found anywhere on the island. Most of them are in the east and north (in Lovin), there are such places on the Bukit peninsula, the islands of Lembongan and Nusa Penida
- Wild beaches with no infrastructure at all
There are many wild or secret beaches in Bali. They are located on the east coast as well as on the Bukit Peninsula. There are several secluded spots on the islands of Gili, Lembongan and Nusa Penida. Tourists do not know about some of them at all.
What types of recreation are local beaches suitable for?
In fact, you can do anything here. Bali's beaches are suitable for swimming, surfing, diving and snorkeling, various sports, and just for walking along the banks of the river.
Here are the main types of recreation:
- Surfing and its varieties (windsurfing, bodyboarding, windsurfing, kitesurfing)
The best surfing spots are the southern coast of the island, including the Bukit Peninsula. At the same time, I recommend going to the southwestern beaches during the dry season, and to the southeastern beaches during the rainy season. This is due to the direction of the wind.
Kitesurfing (boarding behind a boat) and windsurfing (boarding with a sail) are more developed in the north, in Sanur, Tanjung Benoa and Nusa Dua. The waves are small here, therefore they are suitable for this type of beach entertainment. - Diving and snorkeling
The best beaches for snorkeling are in the north (Kurort Lovina) and east of the island (Amed, Chandidasa, Tulamben). There are excellent places on the nearby islands. - Swimming
Not all beaches are suitable for swimming due to high waves or rocky bottom. You can swim in some places on the Bukit Peninsula, on the Gili Islands. The most popular resorts in this regard are Sanur, Nusa Dua and Lovina. - Sports beach activities (volleyball, jet ski, flyboard ding, etc.)
The main centers of sports entertainment are the beaches of Tanjung Benoa, Nusa Dua and Sanur. They have small waves and well-developed infrastructure. There are also many beach activities in Kuta, Seminyak. esteem. Determine for yourself 1-2 main criteria by which you will look for a beach. When you find several options, you can pay attention to other characteristics that are less important to you. If you follow this principle, there is a chance to find the best beach for yourself.
Bali's best beaches are the perfect place for relaxation, meditation, relaxation and extreme entertainment. To spend their holidays here, hundreds of thousands of tourists from all over the world go to one of the most beautiful islands in Indonesia. Bali's beaches are clean sand or snow-white pebbles, picturesque landscapes, high cliffs and an amazingly beautiful ocean, the color of the water in which is striking in the number of shades. Many of the island's beaches are unsuitable for swimming due to high waves and ripple currents that can carry swimmers into the ocean, but there are also beautiful shores where the sea is relatively calm and comfortable.
White sand
The beach got its name thanks to the white sand, which was brought here specially to improve the territory and attract travelers. Over time, the sand was washed out and now the coast has a more grayish tint, and sometimes there are absolutely black areas.
White Sand cannot be called an equipped beach, although sun loungers and umbrellas are installed on its territory. Rather, it is wild, and no one especially watches over the cleanliness of the coastline. In different parts of the coastline, you can see algae washed ashore by waves, as well as cacti lying on the ground falling from a sheer cliff.
There is a coral reef on the right side of White Sand that attracts scuba diving and underwater watching enthusiasts. The sea is calmer than on other beaches, but there are still waves. You can have lunch or just a snack in several cafes right on the beach, which are owned by the residents of Chandidasa. A motorway leads from Sanur to the beach, turning from which in the direction of Chandidasa, you will have to drive off-road for several kilometers.
“Fabulous beach! Very beautiful coastline! The sand is not white, but it is still more pleasant to relax here than on other Bali beaches. Local residents are very sociable, trying to play with the children of vacationers. Everything in a cafe is very expensive. "
Jemeluk Bay
The beach is located next to the village of the same name in a picturesque bay. This is one of the best diving spots in Bali. There are many coral reefs here that attract scuba divers with their beauty and uniqueness.
The entire Jemeluk Bay beach is covered with fine white pebbles. Its territory is not too large, but it allows you to comfortably sit on a lounger or mattress, which are rented by local residents. The ocean on this part of the coast is pretty quiet. Strong waves are rare enough.
The necessary tourist and resort infrastructure facilities are located near the beach: rental of equipment for water sports, hotels, cafes, shops, car parking. Due to the fact that the sea in this place is calm, and there are almost no significant low tides, the coastline is not littered with algae and other debris. The calm water is very clear and it is a pleasure to swim in it.
“We really enjoyed relaxing on this beach. The pebbles are small, you can walk without shoes, there were no strong waves, the sea is calm and clean. Standing in the water, you see your legs and the bottom. Excellent service in cafes that are located nearby. Tried all sorts of seafood delicacies. I recommend this small but very cozy beach. "
Dreamland
Locals say that once a traveler from Italy, a professional surfer, rested on this beach. He was so struck by the tall waves of emerald color, approaching the sandy coast, that he decided to call it "The Land of Dreams."
Dreamland is a very popular beach among tourists. The sand that is pleasant for walking and the rapidly developing infrastructure make it possible to relax comfortably while enjoying the picturesque view of the ocean. The beach is equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas that can be rented. Near the beach and on its territory, vacationers can eat in a cafe and restaurant, order drinks in several bars.
You can rarely see swimmers here. The wave is too high to be safe in the water. But the beach traditionally attracts surfers. Next to Dreamland there is a large hotel where you can stay, as well as several bungalows and villas for rent. You can get to the beach by road following the signs from the city of Kuta.
The journey will take about half an hour.
“Great beach to spend time in nature, sunbathe and relax. The sun beds are comfortable, the umbrellas are large. It is unrealistically difficult to swim here, as the wave covers you with your head. They say that during low tides the sea is calmer, but we did not manage to catch this phenomenon. "
Green bowl
An incredibly beautiful beach of dark golden sand on the Bukit Peninsula. A narrow coastal strip is located under a high cliff, and several hundred steep steps lead to the beach. This beach is considered very dangerous for swimming. It's all about the rebound wave, which often occurs in the coastal zone of the ocean. Its peculiarity is that a strong current of a person pulls a wide channel and can carry it into the open ocean.
Green Bowl is a wild beach, not devoid of some of the resort charms that are located on the top of the cliff. Here tourists are greeted by enterprising Balinese, selling souvenirs, selling various drinks and food. This beach is preferred by lovers of relaxation away from civilization, as well as surfers who use the rip current to get on the line up.
At high tide, the coast is completely covered by the ocean waters and at this time it is impossible to rest here. But the golden sand dries quickly at low tide and is ready to welcome tourists again. The best way to get to the beach is by car or even by bike. From Kuta, a trip by road will take 35-40 minutes.
“We came to this beach out of curiosity. We were told that monkeys walk around here, there are many surfers and the ocean is incredibly beautiful. The information was confirmed. While descending from the cliff along a huge number of steps, we saw enough of wild monkeys. There are, however, a lot of surfers. You can only admire the ocean, it is impossible to swim here because of the high waves, and even forbidden. "
Bias Tegul
Bias Tegul Beach is located near Padangbai Port. To find it, you need to go through a small forest grove. The secluded beach is perfect for swimming and relaxing. It is also called secret because of its location hidden from human eyes.
The coast is covered with soft, pleasant to the touch sand. Despite the proximity to the port, which is constantly visited by ships, the water here is crystal clear. Every now and then slowly rolls to the shore a snow-white line of foam, which is created by a soft wave.
There are several warungs on the beach - thatched-roof cafes where locals cook and sell food. The beach has an interesting feature. The cliffs located on the shore have small caves that regularly get water. Squeezed out by the accumulated air, it crumbles into a fountain of spray that rises several meters in height - an incredible sight.
Even during the peak season, there are no numerous tourists here. The beach is quite difficult to find by making your way from the port along a narrow mountain path.
“Great beach with fine light sand and very beautiful scenery. Surrounded by mountains, it seems to be hiding from prying eyes so that tourists do not find it and violate such beauty. The water here seemed a little colder than on other beaches, but, getting used to it, it splashed a lot! ".
Kuta
One of the best beaches in Kuta. It is famous for its long coastline of golden sand. A lot of tourists always rest here, who want to soak up the hot Indonesian sun and enjoy the clean, warm water.
Kuta Beach stretches along the coast for 8 km. Its strip is wide enough to accommodate many sun loungers with umbrellas, which are arranged in several rows. Excellent infrastructure attracts not only foreigners vacationing in Kuta, but also its residents.
Surfing is possible on the beach. Experienced instructors teach the art of boarding the waves. For a small fee, you can go to the massage parlor, of which there are several dozen on the beach, or order drinks in the bars.
The city embankment runs along the coast - a favorite place for tourists to walk. There is everything that a vacationer may need - cafes, restaurants, shops, souvenir shops. Kuta Beach is famous for its magnificent sunsets, which tourists come to see especially.
“We rested in Kuta and visited this beach several times. It is very large, but there are a lot of tourists, so you need to arrive early to find a free sun lounger. The merchants are very annoying, they don't care that you lie and sunbathe with your eyes closed, bother and offer their products. But the beach itself is very beautiful, clean and comfortable. "
Mengiat
The beach is located on the south coast of Bali. The wide sandy strip stretching along the coast attracts many tourists. From Kuta you can come here by bus or by renting a car or bike.
Mengiat is a clean, well-equipped beach with excellent infrastructure. Despite its popularity among foreign tourists, it is not as crowded as the beaches of Kuta. A free lounger can always be found and accommodated on it by paying a small rental fee.
The sea on this beach is calm and comfortable for swimming throughout the high tourist season. A large number of coral reefs protect it from strong waves. From the coast, the sea has an unusually beautiful color - a mixture of azure and emerald. Garbage and algae are carefully cleaned by the staff. On Mengiat you can go in for active water activities, have lunch or have a light snack in a cafe, use the services of massage parlors.
“A wonderful place to relax on the beach, sunbathe and swim without discomfort. The sea is very beautiful, the entrance is not too steep, and in some parts of the beach it is completely flat, which allows the kids to splash around. "
Jimbaran Beach
One of the best beaches in the south of Bali. It is located in a beautiful bay with picturesque views, modern hotels and villas. Quite a wide coastline allows a large number of tourists and vacationers to comfortably settle down. The beach is more than 5 km long.
The entrance to the sea on the entire beach is very shallow, and the depth near the coast is small, which allows you to enjoy water activities not only for adults, but also for children. The bottom is very clean and sandy. The cleanliness and order on the beach itself is carefully monitored. There is no rubbish here.
Jimbaran Beach and its vacationers are served by several restaurants and cafes located on the shore. You can sit in the shade of the awnings or order food directly from the sun lounger. Basically, seafood dishes are prepared here, which are handed over to restaurants by fishermen. In the early morning they can be seen returning with their catch. Lovers of boat trips can use the services of local residents, who will arrange an excursion on the flat surface of the sea on their own boats.
“Great place for a family vacation. We rested in a hotel near the beach and enjoyed this beauty every day. The sea is calm, clean, the beach is spacious, equipped. The entrance for the hotel guests was free. I liked that, if you wish, they will immediately bring you drinks or food from local cafes. "
Balangan
The beach is located on the Bukit Peninsula near the city of Jimbaran. It is a narrow sandy strip along the coast, 700 meters long. In the northern part of the beach, a high rock deepens into the ocean, on which wedding photo sessions are often held. Balangan is a popular surf slot.
Even during the peak season, there are not too many vacationers on the beach. Basically, guests of local hotels sunbathe here, less often visitors. There are many varungs along the coast, where seafood is prepared. Climbing the mountain along the stone steps, vacationers get to the picturesque territory, where there are several hotels and villas.
Swimming in Balangan is not very convenient because of the high waves. On rare days, with calmer waters, tourists splash along the coast, but such entertainment is considered quite dangerous, especially since there are no lifeguards on the beach. The most comfortable place for swimming is the northern part of the beach by the cliff. The sand on the coastline is fine and clean. There are sun loungers and umbrellas for the convenience of vacationers.
“Take the time to travel and be sure to visit this beach. Even when descending from the mountain, you can inspect the entire coastal strip - long, with yellow sand, it bends in an arc, as if embracing the ocean. There are many inexpensive varungs on the beach where you can have a hearty lunch. It is difficult to swim, but it is very interesting to watch the surfers. "
Padangbai Beach
A small cozy beach surrounded by rocks with lush green vegetation. The entire coastline is pure white sand. Padangbai Beach is considered to be one of the best beaches in Bali, where it is pleasant to relax and spend time. In addition, it is a popular surf slot for both experienced surfers and beginners alike.
There are several warungs on the coastline, where they cook and sell dishes from fresh seafood caught in the ocean in the morning. Drinks can also be ordered here. Rescuers are closely watching the vacationers.
The water in the ocean is often calm, long waves slowly roll onto the shore. It is better to swim on the left side of the bank. There are no umbrellas and sun loungers on the beach. Vacationers sit right on the sand, on the rugs and towels brought with them.
Padangbai Beach is famous for the fact that it filmed several episodes of the famous film "Still Pray Love" with Julia Roberts. Since the release of the movie, Padangbai Beach has grown in popularity. For those who do not like a lot of people on the beach, it is best to come here in the morning and afternoon.
“The water is warm, the waves are not high, the sand is fine and pleasant. A wonderful beach in a cozy cove with a beautiful landscape. It is not always possible to swim, but we managed to enjoy the clear water of an unusually beautiful color to our fullest. Only pleasant impressions! "
Bali welcomes tourists all year round. There are no four seasons familiar to Europeans. During the winter months, the weather is just as comfortable as in the summer, but this is the rainy season. Showers are short-lived and most often occur in the evening and at night. The most popular period for travelers is from May to October. The air temperature at this time is kept at around +33 degrees, and the water warms up to +26. These are the best months to not only spend time on the beautiful beaches, but also get to know the local culture.
Bali beaches are not quite what tourists usually expect from them 😎 This is not the Maldives ... and there are not many Bounty-style beaches, you still need to look for them! More often people come to the paradise island for the sake of surfing, nature and authenticity, rather than for a beach holiday. Therefore, before buying plane tickets, type in the coordinates best beaches in Bali to map maps.me and rent a bike or a car
For the discoverers of beach Bali, I advise you to take an individual excursion with a Russian guide -
I will show photos of Bali beaches from two vacations - December 2016 and 2017. Recommendations - my subjective, there are more good beaches, but I did not go there for a tan, I spent most of my time in the jungle, rice fields and simple relaxation. MY BEACH MAP
WHITE SAND BEACHES IN SOUTH BALI
Jimbaran Beach
It is located near the Denpasar airport, the sand is white fine, the bottom is gently sloping, large waves were not noticed. The water temperature in the ocean feels like + 28. I advise you to choose the left side of the beach for swimming, in GoogleMaps it is Pantai muaya , we parked the car for free near the temple (-8.782889, 115.161914). By the way, drive in all coordinates with a minus sign, since Bali is located below the equator. Sun beds for money, but we did not take. We sat down on the chairs of my grandmother who sells coconuts and beer. In the distance, the photo shows a luxurious bungalow. My photo with coconut was taken on Jimbaran beach
Jimbaran Beach is also known for fish restaurants, they are located closer to its center, choose any one by looking into indoor aquariums with catch. People gather at 17 to take the trump seats and enjoy the sunset (in winter it is at 18:30). The price tag for seafood and fish is average, but closer to the European one, but keep in mind + 15% of the tax and + for the service above.
The Denpasar airport runway is clearly visible to the right of the fish restaurants, and planes land here every 5 minutes. They also sell corn and musicians entertain guests with songs in all languages of the world. For us, the Balinese have chosen for some reason "A glass of vodka on the table." I paid them 50 thousand rupees (3 euros)
Pantai tegal wangi jimbaran
There is a secluded wild cove very close ( -8.781397, 115.141482) 🌊 Besides us, there were also several romantic couples hiding behind rocks from the sun and spectators Andrey frolicked in the ocean, looked like a child, this was his first swim in the Indian Ocean 🏊
The shore there is rocky, I did not find a place for sunbathing and there were big waves, but the place is damn beautiful and wild. Maybe it's quieter at low tide
Balangan beach
Balangan beach- one of the most photogenic beaches, so many wedding photographers hang out on the cape (-8.790441, 115.125056). The ceremonies are symbolic, with a wedding arch, a white dress - obviously just for the sake of a photo session.
If you go down to the beach from the opposite end (-8.793569, 115.122900), then you will find yourself in a simple eatery, you can immediately rent a board. But the entrance to the sea here is unpleasant, let the photo with white sand fascinate you ... but there are many boulders in the water, and the waves knock you off your feet. This place is more for surfing.
I have been here twice, and I cannot say that it is pleasant to swim. On the other side of the beach, we found a place where we could swim near the shore.
Canggu Beach
We lived in this town for 5 days, having booked a hotel room Sunset Villa Bali, which was deserted due to a recent volcanic eruption. For 800 rubles a day for 2 people we got complete privacy, comfort and a pool with a kitchen. In the morning we had breakfast at Hungry bird coffee, what a gorgeous cappuccino there! By the way, this link will give you 20 € as a gift for your first booking on Arnbnb.
We lived 7 minutes walk from Finns Beach Club, the beach there is long, there are many small bars where you can lie in exchange for juice and beer. The sand here is no longer white, but gray, but pleasant for walking. And swimming in Canggu is difficult because of the big waves, but it is a great place for surfing.
Andrey rented the board - 50 thousand rupees (3 euros) for 2 hours for Batu Balong Beach
A small video review of these beaches
Gala's Beach or Nikko Beach
These beaches are very close ( on the map), there are respectable hotels along the road. And it was the best beach in Bali, moreover, deserted, there were no waves near the ocean, white sand of coral origin under our feet 🏜 We parked our car at the temple (-8.833364, 115.213052) and went down the steep steps.
We found a deserted cave to relax in the shade, where there were sun loungers from a luxury hotel 🏖 and we brazenly used them! We swam with a mask, picked up seashells, listened to the sound of the ocean waves 🌊🐚🐳 I never ceased to thank the Agung volcano for the deserted Bali in December 😘 If you compare my vacation in 2016 and in 2017, then the island then and now is heaven and earth! 👏 If you are afraid to drive a bike and a car on the island, I advise you to take an individual excursion. Affordable accommodations close to Nikko Beach - or the chic The Ritz-Carlton Bali
In slow motion I shot a video about the best beach in Bali, in our opinion
And I want to say a few more words about worst white sand beaches in Bali:
- Sanur beach! I didn't even take a photo, there is a swamp, not the sea, swimming in shallow water with algae is still a pleasure. Don't waste your vacation at a retirement resort ...
- Padang Padang Beach, where the film "Eat, Pray, Love" was filmed (report about it here). In the photo it seems that this is a heavenly place, but there were so many people that they did not get a buzz. Turbid water, although the entrance is pleasantly sloping. The entrance is paid - 10 thousand rupees (70 euro cents), parking is paid, the cafe on the beach is sloppy, dirty. After visiting the crowded popular tourist places in Bali, Andrey and I decided to go only to little-known and natural beauties
In the video you will see a real picture from Padang Padang Beach
Black sand beaches in Bali
Lipah Beach in Amed
We went to the north of Bali not for the beaches, but for the peace and low prices. It's funny, but this edge is underdeveloped, asphalt was laid only in the early 2000s. But we really liked the calm sea, however, it is slightly colder than the Indian Ocean (maybe +26). We booked a room in Bayu Cottages Hotel for 12 euros for two with breakfast, and were alone again! Of course, in season and not with an erupting volcano, it is more expensive 😜 The Bali Sea is ideal for swimming, fishing, snorkeling and diving. We rested on Lipakh Beach, a secluded cove with an incredible underwater world! The color of the sand is black, it is very fine, but at the entrance to the sea there is white sand, so the water is transparent.

The same Lipah beach sunny morning. Check out the transparency and calmness!
From Ubud, we got here at least 2 hours along narrow roads and jungle, renting a car for 10 euros per day. I can also advise taking an excursion to the north of Bali to see Amed, swim on the beach, visit the water palaces and the Lempuyang temple overlooking. We saw him splashing around in the hotel pool. From there you can see the sea, and it takes 15 seconds to go down to it.
The most interesting thing in Amed is snorkeling. We had our own snorkel mask, but here every little boy offers them for rent. So are the boats. Also, for 300 thousand rupees (18 euros), you can go fishing at dawn. Diving enthusiasts also come here to dive to sunken ships.
The big plus of the north of Bali over the tourist south was the cheap fish. Once bought from a fisherman from a boat for 50 thousand 3 pieces (3 euros). And then all the days we ate in Amed restore, I ordered mackerel with rice and vegetables for only 2 euros
Beach at Les Village
In the Tejakula area, we settled in an amazing hotel with a diving center Sea Communities - Segara Lestari Villas, we were brought in by accident thanks to Arnbnbi, after reading the reviews. Everything is fine in Less Village - the silence, the lack of tourists and the integrity of the locals, huge portions of food from the hostess for dinner, coconut, mango and rambutan plantations, the sound of the sea even in our room. But no beach although the black sand mixed with huge stones did not frighten the local children, they swam. We lived in the eco-village for 5 days, and still were satisfied with the "other Bali"
Lovina beach in Bali
The beaches in the north of Bali are generally not encouraging, there are only a few civilized and suitable for swimming. We read about Lovina in the north of Bali, arrived, and there is a shallow, muddy and gray sea, the Sea of Azov ... On the map we found a civilized beach for swimming - Spice Beach Club Bali, having paid a fresh watermelon as much as 3 euros, the sea here was not happy either, but they used sun loungers and a toilet.
Locals pestered boat rentals to watch dolphins, but I see them in Montenegro in the Tivat Bay, where we have a yacht moored. We left Lovina to swim in the hot springs
Bathing beaches in Bali in the east
Few of the tourist package tourists realize that in the east of the island there are wonderful beaches with white sand and no waves. This is also the Bali Sea, not an ocean.
Blue Lagoon beach in Bali Is a must see place. The road from Ubud here is not difficult, there are few cars, the track is wide in places (-8.529756, 115.513304
