Today, the frank lawlessness of traffic cops, which they did in the 2000s, has gone down in history. Today you will no longer encounter the arbitrariness that was happening at the “famous” post, but the divorce of drivers for bribes is still quite effectively applied. Now the extortion of money is much more civilized and less intrusive than before, since the mechanisms for combating corruption, at the very least, have begun to work and traffic cops are periodically sent to places of detention.

All schemes are quite primitive and are designed for your fatigue, inattention, haste and desire to quickly get to your destination.

Divorce on M4 Don for marking or oncoming traffic

There are different versions of this method of divorce, but the essence is the same. I will describe the situation on my own example.

Stops the inspector. I present the documents to the employee and he immediately, muttering something under his breath, leaves and takes a position at the trunk, behind the car.

At this point, I made a serious mistake and got out of the car before the employee announced his intentions or claims to me. I thought that he wanted to inspect the trunk and followed him so as not to waste time.

Further, the traffic police officer tells me that I violated the rules of traffic rules, and specifically I ran into the markings indicating the place of the turn of oncoming traffic, that is, I sort of crossed the oncoming lane. I am naturally outraged.

Always remain seated in the vehicle until the inspector has made it clear to you what he wants you to do. If you have a recorder, rotate it so that it records your conversation with a traffic police officer. In 99% of cases, there will be no further dialogue with you, they will give you the rights and you will go further, saving your time and nerves.

Next, the acting begins. The traffic cop defiantly communicates with someone on the radio and there he is confirmed that it was my car that violated the rules and this was recorded on some kind of camera. He tells me that I am subject to deprivation of rights from 4 to 6 months. Once again, I confidently declare to him that I did not violate anything. Then we go to the traffic police post, to a separate “VIP” room, not equipped with anything at all. There was only a table and two chairs, there was not even an elementary laptop to present at least something in fact. Then the inspector sits down at the table and offers to sit opposite me. I refuse and take a position almost point-blank to him. Here the traffic cop is already making a mistake, since psychologically he is in a less advantageous position for pressing against me - I’m on top, he’s on the bottom)) After which I go on the attack and start bombarding him with questions: where the violation was committed, what time, who transmitted the information why they didn’t stop immediately on the spot, and so on (of course, the employee could not answer most of the questions). And at the end of my fiery speech, I demand to show photo and video evidence of the violation and propose to start drawing up a protocol.

The police officer refuses to draw up a protocol, says that he personally does not have any materials on the case and they will be sent to the court at the place of residence. Gives me back my rights. In simple terms, this means that the employee jumped back, realizing that he could not receive a bribe.

Nobody will send any materials to any court, because they simply do not exist. Even if you theoretically imagine that they are, then at most you will receive a letter with a fine, and not a court! If you were not stopped exactly at the moment of the violation, then there can be no deprivation of rights, since it will be impossible to prove who exactly was driving the car at the time of the violation.

Scam for speeding

This scheme is similar to the situation described above. Only in this case there is a divorce for speed and you will be shown a fixation of your alleged violation.

The meaning is this. A traffic cop stops you and says that you exceeded the speed limit by more than 60 kilometers, which entails the deprivation of rights. Then on a laptop (and sometimes even on a phone :)) you will be shown a real photo of your car with a fixed speed. But the point is that it is impossible to understand from the photo where it was taken or what the permissible speed was. In another option, the place will be known and a specific kilometer indicated, but the permissible speed there was, for example, not 90 km / h, but 30. You will be assured that there was some kind of sign and you did not notice it. Most likely, there was no sign, and the camera is “not officially”.

In this situation:

  • Demand to provide a device for reconciliation, on which the violation was recorded.
  • The photo should indicate the permissible speed and the one with which your car was moving. During a divorce, most likely, only the speed of the car will be indicated.
  • If the camera is in one place, but they stopped you in another, then this is not deprivation, but only a fine.

Let's analyze the situation and summarize

All machinations with falsification of traffic violations are quite primitive and are designed to quickly confuse the driver. Since traffic cops are afraid of being caught at the moment of “processing a client”, they quickly retreat at the slightest resistance. Time is also an important factor, and time is money)). If you resist, then it is easier for them to let you go and catch another, more accommodating car owner.

  1. Be confident. Don't show your fatigue. Do not hurry. Try not to be nervous.
  2. During a stop by traffic police officers, never get out of the car unless absolutely necessary. The law does not require you to do this. If an employee begins to leave with your documents for no reason without explanation, remind him that he has no right to do this without your permission.
  3. Do not obey implicitly all the requests of the inspector, since most of them are requests and not requirements. You are not required to comply with requests and this is not disobedience to a traffic police officer. For example, in 99% of cases, an employee does not have a legal right to demand you get out of the car, he can only ask to do so.
  4. Do not play by the rules that the employee offers you, but try to impose your own (within the law), as this knocks the employee out of the worked-out divorce scheme. He asks you to get out of the car - do not get out, asks you to sit down - stop, asks you a question - ignore and ask your own, etc.
  5. Avoid questions that are not relevant to the situation: where are you going, where are you working, etc. If the inspector realizes that you have money, he will cling to you like a tick))
  6. If you are accused of some kind of violation, then behave confidently. Ask leading questions quickly and clearly. If you feel that the inspector "floated" in some topic. Ask the same question even more persistently and confidently. Require proof. Ask for a protocol.
  7. If your violation was recorded by a camera, and the traffic cop stopped later, then let him know that you are aware that this is, at least, not a deprivation of rights. Then you will become uninteresting to him.
  8. Film your communication on a mobile phone or communicate in the presence of witnesses. For example, if you are traveling with your wife, they stop you and drag you to the post, go together, the law does not prohibit this.

And last but not least!

Under no circumstances think about a bribe!

First, thinking about a possible ransom, if something suddenly goes wrong, you already subconsciously plead guilty. The traffic cop will feel it and “devour” you)

And secondly, do not give bribes, as supply creates demand. If you do not give, then there will be no one to breed. And if you really violated, then be prepared to answer according to the law if you want to live in a normal and civilized country.

The M4 - Don highway has a length of 1543.7 km and connects Moscow and Novorossiysk. Initially, the road had only two traffic lanes, while the lanes were not separated by protective fences, which led to a large number of accidents, most often fatal. As a result, the track was called the road of death.

The construction time of the route is not exactly fixed, because. it was built from existing sections, but the date 1957-1961 is more common than others, and it is taken as the time the road was created.

In 1984, the construction of a traffic lightless understudy road in the Moscow region began. By 1990, two launch complexes were built and put into operation in the Domodedovo district of the Moscow region with a length of 18.4 km.

After the collapse of the USSR in December 1991, the highway was included by the Russian government in the list of federal roads, having received its modern name. At the same time, it was lengthened by almost 500 km by joining to it a section of the former Rostov-on-Don-Beslan-Baku route from Rostov-on-Don to Pavlovskaya, the Pavlovskaya-Krasnodar, Krasnodar-Dzhubga roads, as well as a section of the former Sukhumi highway from Novorossiysk to Dzhubga.

In 1997, the active construction of an alternate road in the Moscow Region was resumed, which made it possible in 1999 to put into operation 72 km of the road with 4-8 lanes, in 2000 - another 63 km in the Moscow and Tula regions. As a result, today's Don Highway is a continuation of Lipetskaya Street in Moscow. The former route, the old Kashirskoye Highway, has lost its former significance and serves mainly for regional transportation, as well as for avoiding traffic jams that appear on the Don Highway due to repairs or accidents.

In the 2000s, the reconstruction of the road continued along its entire length, as a result of which most of the road received separate carriageways and multi-level intersections with other roads, and the length of sections with artificial lighting increased. Bypasses of Bogoroditsk (2009), Upper Mamon (including a new bridge across the Don, 2009), Boguchar (2009), Efremov (2010), Yelets (including a new bridge across the Fast Sosna, 2011), Yarkin (2011), Tarasovsky (2013) were built ) and other settlements, the bypass of Voronezh was reconstructed (2013).

In summer, the road is often congested due to the large number of vacationers who travel by car with their families from Moscow and other large cities to the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus, to other areas of the Rostov Region, Stavropol and Krasnodar Territories, Crimea, which are favorable for recreation. for trucks exporting agricultural products from the southern regions of Russia to Moscow, St. Petersburg and other regions for sale. Significant traffic jams occur during repair work in the Voronezh and Rostov regions, as well as on a two-lane section of the road in the south of the Voronezh region.

In winter, during bad weather, there may be problems with driving along the mountainous section of the road in the Krasnodar Territory. But sometimes, due to snowfalls and ice, problems also arise on flat areas: for example, at the end of 2009, traffic was paralyzed for several days on an unreconstructed section of the road in the Rostov region due to heavy snowfalls.

The main congestion-forming places are narrowings from 2 + 2 to 1 + 1, for example, at the beginning of the narrow section of Losevo - Pavlovsk. Also, a traffic jam occurs around the village of Loseva, where the 1 + 1 road is slowed down by a “zebra” in the center of the village. There are similar places in the area of ​​Rostov-on-Don (narrow bridges and ramps near the Mega shopping center and the city of Bataysk) and in the area of ​​Krasnodar (narrow bridge and ramp at the junction of the Rostov highway).

In general, the M4 highway today has the largest number of toll booths and in the near future their number will increase.

At the beginning of August 2018, we went on a trip to the north - along. A little over two weeks later, we set off in the opposite direction - south.

Our goal was the Crimea. But we could allocate no more than a week for it - work interfered with the plans and required an obligatory presence in Penza, or rather, near Penza. And we also could not shift the dates of the trip to more convenient ones because of the same work. So we had to return to Moscow along a completely different path.

In this situation, it would be better to fly to the Crimea by plane, but it turned out to be a little expensive. In addition, we love road trips, and this trip turned out to be very unusual in terms of route and impressions.

On August 31, 2018, at 8 am we started from Moscow. On this day we had to drive 1060 km to Rostov-on-Don. Actually, I am not a fan of such huge runs, preferring to limit myself to 500-600 km per day, so that there is time for sightseeing and other interesting things.

It would be more logical to make an intermediate stop in Voronezh, fortunately, there are a lot of attractions and many comfortable hotels. But in this situation, we could not afford it. However, I know a lot of people who manage to get to the Black Sea in one trip: 18-20 hours driving - and you are there. But to me, such a race is completely without a buzz.

In my opinion, with all my love for the North, the M-4 Don highway is much more interesting than the high-speed one. When you drive along the M-11, continuous forests stretch along the highway. Sometimes swamps. And then more forests. The only entertainment is to watch the vegetation change: spruce forest, pine forest, mixed forest, birches. There are practically no settlements. At some point, boredom begins to overcome and you find the only salvation in conversations.

Another thing is the southern route. Landscapes of incredible beauty and scope are all around: hills and ravines, ribbons of rivers, picturesque copses, ancient cities and villages.

There are several paid sections on the M-4 Don highway, and every year there are more and more of them. We bought a transponder at one of the Lukoil gas stations. It is more profitable to drive on toll roads with it. But, as it turned out much later, on the M-11 highway it works every other time, and on the Moscow-Solnechnogorsk section it does not provide discounts. Although it was written on its packaging that it works on the M-1 Odintsovo Northern Bypass, M-3 Ukraine, M-4 Don, M-11 Moscow - St. Petersburg and on the Western High-Speed ​​Diameter in St. Petersburg.

In the Voronezh region, pine forests have gone, almost the same as along the P-21 "Kola" highway in the Leningrad region. We even joked that the road must have taken a detour that we didn't notice.

And then the endless fields and ridges on the horizon stretched again. There were still several hundred kilometers to Rostov-on-Don, and we were already pretty tired from driving. Not so much physically as mentally.

The Voronezh region is famous for its chalk mountains. They are very picturesque.

In Losevo, we got stuck in a traffic jam that stretched to Pavlovsk and beyond. A road is being built around these settlements. When completed, it will, of course, be much better. But so far we have lost about two hours (and maybe more) of precious time. Therefore, many people try to leave the house in such a way as to pass this place at night.

The day seemed to be drawing to a close. And we all drove, drove. The border of the Rostov region, not to mention Rostov-on-Don itself, loomed somewhere ahead.

Some of those who travel south spend the night in their cars. For safety reasons, they usually stop at large gas stations or traffic police posts.

We entered the Rostov region at dusk. Night soon fell. The route there goes quite close to the border with the DPR. We arrived in Rostov-on-Don at about 11 pm, closer to midnight we settled in "Marins Park Hotel". I wanted to sleep more than eat. Therefore, the local cuisine could only be appreciated in the morning.

Now there are more than 530 km of them on this road, and in the near future there will be almost twice as many. How, besides payment, do these sites differ from alternative free ones? Is there any benefit to using them? How can drivers who do not want to lay out their hard-earned money get to the destination without paying anything? Let's figure it out.

History reference

The route, which is now causing so much controversy, leads from Moscow to Novorossiysk through such large cities as Krasnodar. Its length is 1543.7 km. Part of this route from Moscow to Rostov-on-Don was once called highway No. 5 and was built in the late sixties of the last century. During this period, the road was two-lane, with a width of only 7 meters. During the years of perestroika, the construction of its understudy began, on which traffic lights were not installed, that is, they tried to make it high-speed. In 1990, 18.4 km were put into operation, including two sections in the Domodedovo area. Until 2000, the development of the M4 highway continued actively, as a result of which the road became 500 km longer and stretched to Dzhugba, plus a piece of the Sukhumi highway to Novorossiysk entered it, and 135 km of alternate sections appeared with a canvas up to 8 lanes. They were built in the Moscow and Tula regions with funds from the state budget. At that time, no money was charged for travel on the M4.

Paid sections

As a result of construction and road manipulations, the M4 highway has significantly increased its capacity and become more convenient. Paid sections on it began to appear in 1998. The first was only 20 km long and went around the village of Khlevnoe. They opened this piece of the road with pathos, as it became the first toll road in all of Russia. reconstruction with the construction of bypass sections was carried out with enviable activity. The result was two paid sections at once:

1. At 225.6-260 kilometers (35 km detour of the city of Bogoroditsk). Now from the Moscow Ring Road to it, almost the entire section of the route is paid (with the exception of a small piece 14 km long from the intersection of the M4 with the road to Uzlovaya to the intersection with the road to the village of Chernaya Gryaz).

2. At 287.8-321.3 kilometers (34 km detour of the town of Efremov).

Now car drivers pay here from 35 rubles, depending on the time of day and car class, and truck drivers - from 240 rubles.

Avtodor innovations

In 2010, the Avtodor company became the manager of the Don highway, which has a very positive attitude towards tolls for drivers.

The company's specialists first of all analyzed the state of the road and began to repair it, along the way building new bypass routes. As a result, it has become better, but also more M4. Paid sections since 2010 have appeared on such kilometers:

330.8-414.7 (bypassing the village of Yarkino and the city of Yelets).

416.9-464 (bypass of Zadonsk).

Bypassing the glorious city of Voronezh, several toll sections with a total length of 141 km were built. They start at km 492 and end at km 633, going around Voronezh, Novaya Usman and Rogachevka. The free inserts here are very short, so the three pay points are set almost one after the other.

The Avtodor company is going to further reduce the sections of the road on the Don highway, which can be traveled for nothing. So, in 2016, two new sections with a total length of 190 km became paid. The first one starts at km 21 (immediately outside the Moscow Ring Road) and lasts 72 km. The second one starts from this road benchmark and stretches for another 118 km. You have to pay for crossing the barrier twice, the first time - from 50 to 140 rubles, the second time - from 80 to 450 rubles. In total, by 2020, Avtodor is going to make 892 km toll roads. Now their length is 531 km. Some drivers are interested in what Avtodor employees will do if they drive up to a toll collection point and say that the money was accidentally forgotten at home. The answer will not please - such drivers will be forced to drive back, but no one will raise the cherished barrier for them.

How many paid sections on the M4 ("Don") highway

2 in Moscow;

2 in Tulskaya;

2 in Lipetsk;

3 in Voronezh.

In addition, 5 paid exits to the highway are open in the Lipetsk region.

In general, you will now have to pay for a journey from Moscow to Rostov-on-Don for a passenger car from 510 rubles, and for trucks - from 2660 rubles one way, but it is quite possible that prices will change.

Road quality

Drivers, along with the question of how many toll sections are on the M4 highway, are also interested in the question of what they have to pay for. There are 8 lanes on the road from the Moscow Ring Road to the exit to the village of Vidnoe. Further, to Saratov - 6 lanes, and after - 4 lanes. According to drivers, the quality of the roadway is good, but the speed limit on toll sections is not more than 110 km/h. Unequipped toilets, gas stations, cafes are installed along the route. In addition, there are points where you can call a tow truck, a tanker or a repair team. The disadvantage of toll roads (except for the price) is the queues at the payment points, and the transponder does not always help out, since there is no perfect system for using it yet.

The free road has mainly 4-5 lanes (3 or 2 in one direction, 2 in the other), in some sections there are only 2 (one to the south and one to the north). The quality of the canvas throughout the entire length is satisfactory, because the road services are also engaged in repair work here. Along the road, as well as on the paid M4, there are cafes, gas stations, unequipped toilets. You can drive along this route at a speed of 90 km / h. The inconvenience is created by large trucks, of which there are plenty. On average, the loss of time when bypassing the toll road is about half an hour.

How to get around from MKAD to Kashira

Recall that from the point where the Moscow Ring Road intersects with Lipetskaya Street, the M4 highway begins. Toll sections are open from the 21st km, but so far Avtodor has blocked the road with barriers and installed the first payment point only at the 62nd km. Therefore, from the Moscow Ring Road to the intersection with the A107 (this is the 51st km of the M4 highway) you can go for nothing. Also, exits in the direction of Vidnoye (on the 22nd and 24th kilometers), exits in the direction of Domodedovo (this is on the 31st, then on the 34th and 46th kilometers) and the exit to A107 are not yet paid. For those who follow further, from the Moscow Ring Road, you can go free of charge along the Kashirskoye highway to the settlement of Sitne-Shchelkanovo. Further, at the fork, the road will go towards Stupino. Here, at the crossroads in front of the railway, you need to turn onto Pobedy Avenue, follow it back to Kashirskoye Highway and follow it to your final destination. The disadvantage of the route is the rather large loading of the Kashirskoye Highway and, as a result, frequent traffic jams. Now this road is being reconstructed, so if it is left free, it will be a good option.

How to bypass the toll M4, following to Bogoroditsk and Efremov

There are several options for toll detours on the M4 highway. So, following to Bogoroditsk and further, you can use the location map indicated above. This means that you need to go along Kashirskoye Highway to Stupino, then turn onto Pobedy Avenue, return without stopping at Kashira, follow to the fork in front of the village of Zendikovo, turn onto Voronezhskoye Highway at it, or continue along Kashirskoye to the P22 highway, which leads further and further away from the M4 . In the Venev area, this distance is approximately 30 km. In order to get to Bogoroditsk by this route, you will have to drive along country roads, the quality of which is far from satisfactory, and in addition, “wind up” extra kilometers.

Some drivers advise driving to Bogoroditsk and nearby settlements for free along the Simferopol highway (M2). The condition of the roadway here is excellent, the speed can be reached up to 90 km/h. After Tula, you need to turn onto the road leading to Bolokhovo and drive along it to Chernaya Gryaz. There will be an exit to the free M4 section. The difference will be several kilometres. Those who need to go to Efremov can, following the same M2, without stopping by Tula, Shchekino and turn right at the intersection in the village of Lukino. From there, an almost direct road will lead to Efremov.

How to bypass the M4, following to Voronezh

The shortest distance from the capital to Voronezh is 516 km. On this long journey, it is difficult to bypass every toll section of the road. The M4 highway from MKAD to Voronezh runs past Bogoroditsk and Efremov. Above, we told how you can get to these settlements for free. Despite some difference in mileage, many drivers choose the Simferopol highway, which is quite pleasant to drive on. The number of lanes on this section fluctuates between 2 and 4, the condition of the canvas is good, there are many gas stations and cafes along the route. Follow it further. Luchino is unwise, because to return to the M4, you will have to make a solid detour. If you follow this route to km 321 (the end of the Efremov bypass road, the difference in mileage will be only about 7 km (about 307 km along the M2 and about 300 km along the M4). Then you can drive 9 km along the free section of the Don "". Having reached the exit to the toll road, do not turn onto it, but continue moving along the railway track, bypass Yarkino, cross the Dry Well stream, the railway track, go around Yelets along its outskirts, the river Fast Pine, get close again from M4, go through Zadonsk, Khlevnoye, a free section of M4 and, without leaving the paid section, turn onto the road to Voronezh.The difference in mileage along this route is very small, but the roadbed is much worse than on the toll road. in Zadonsk and loss of time to travel through Khlevnoye and Voronezh.

How to bypass the M4, following to Rostov

The detour of toll sections on the M4 ("Don") highway ends in the Voronezh region, at the 633rd kilometer. Further south, you can go safely. Now a new section of the toll road is being designed to bypass the city of Pavlovsk, but so far it is not available. To get to the free M4 from Voronezh, you need to pass 3 more paid sections. Two of them - through Novaya Usman and Rogachevka - can be passed without difficulty. As a result, the last 89 km remain. You won't be able to go around them with small losses. If after Rogachevka turn left onto P298, you will have to make a big detour. There are no easy turns to the right. Therefore, the detour must begin from Voronezh. There are two options here - to the left along highway 193 or to the right in the direction of the village of Liski. Both of these options are inconvenient due to the large extra mileage and poor quality roads.

Each time, returning from travels to the sea, I write about what the road was like, what condition the track is in at the moment, what has changed since the last time. I pay attention to gas stations, places of rest and snacks, and hotels for overnight stays. I will not change this tradition even now. Before proceeding to the story about the rest, I will show how we drove along the M4 "Don" highway to the sea, I will briefly talk about the most important thing.
Our trip south by car took place in June 2016. All the way, I collected checks from gas stations, toll booths in paid sections, cafes and more. How much does it cost, the time of payment ... Such things are quickly forgotten. You will not have time to reach your destination, you have already forgotten everything. After all, the main thing in a trip is not numbers, but emotions.
In this article I'll show you M4 highway, I will do accents on paid sections (number, fare, location), I will tell you where we refueled, where we ate, where we spent the night. I get asked about this all the time. So it's relevant.

I will finish the article with a story about hotels on the Don highway, where you can stay for the night on the way south. It is based on the statistics of the most popular hotels among travelers, which I have as a partner of Booking.

Toll road sections on the M4 highway

I heard on TV that in August 2016 the next, eighth in a row, paid section of the M4 highway was opened. Judging by our experience, as of June 2016 there were already nine. In my "piggy bank" 7 checks + 1 check we forgot to take + 1 section we drove on a free road.
Yes, Kostya decided to be a researcher and find out what kind of free bypass roads are. Alternative, as they are called. I was categorically against it - there are a thousand kilometers ahead, I have no time for experiments. As a result, we drove around only the first paid section from Moscow. The bypass is pretty good. Even though it's a double stripe, the fabric is fine.



The quality of the road on this bypass section is normal.

The next time we left the road at the sign "free travel", we immediately returned back - the normal road ended ... Kostya did not want to experiment anymore, fortunately ...

M4 toll sections

Moscow region.
1/ The first paid section we drove around: 21 - 93 km. Cost: 50 rubles. at night (on the way back)

2/ 93 - 211 km. Put into action later than we were driving. We passed it without paying.

4/ M4 "Don" detour of the city of Bogoroditsk. 225.6 - 260 km. Toll plaza at km 228. We left at 8:56. Fare: 60 rubles.


5/ M4 bypass of the city of Efremov. 287.8 - 323.3 km. Collection point at 322 km. We left at 10:29. Cost: 60 rubles.




Lipetsk region.
6/ M4 bypass of the city of Yelets. 330.8 - 414.7 km. Collection point at 339 km. We left at 10:43. Cost: 120 rubles.




7/ M4 bypass of the city of Zadonsk and with. Khlevnoe. 414 - 464 km. The toll collection point at km 416 was passed at 11.40. Cost: 80 rubles.








Voronezh region.
8/ M4 detour of Voronezh. 492.7 - 517 km. Toll booth at km 515. We left at 12:54. Cost: 35 rubles.




9/ M4 PVP-545 km. 544 - 588.7 km. 545 km passed at 13.18. Cost: 70 rubles.




10/ M4 PVP-620 km. 588.7 - 633 km. 620 km. We left at 14.12. Cost: 60 rubles.




Total: at the moment there are 10 paid sections on the M4. We got through eight. Paid about 550 rubles.

Gas station on M4

Back in Moscow We refueled at a Shell gas station (41 liters for 1,680 rubles). Gasoline was bad. The car was constantly stalling. There was one more time in the whole 3.5 week trip when we refueled on the Shell, and the problem was the same. Here's your favorite gas station...
The rest of the time on the way south we refueled at Lukoil, and everything was fine:

  • Gas station "Lukoil" at 720 km. in the Voronezh region 38 y.o. - 1,437 rubles.
  • Gas station "Lukoil" in Art. Kushchevskaya 28 l. - 1,119 rubles.



The new Lukoil complex in Kushchevskaya (1145 km, on the right) consists of a hotel, a shopping center, a restaurant, a maintenance station and a gas station.

In total, on the way to the south, we refueled for 4,240 rubles. (round up). This gasoline was enough for us to get from Moscow to Anapa, drive there for a week and then get to Gelendzhik.
In Gelendzhik, they refueled again at Lukoil (43 liters for 1,705 rubles). And the next time was already in Sochi in a week ...

Toilets on M4

Along the highway, there are often brick toilets of the "hole in the floor" type - and freestanding ones, most often near public transport stops and at large recreation areas.


The toilets are mostly dirty. In order not to drag all this into the car later, I recommend choosing gas stations for sanitary stops. In any case, the toilets there are much cleaner, and you can wash your hands and drink coffee in a cafe.
Coming from Moscow, stop somewhere at a large gas station in the Moscow region ("Shell", "Gazpromneft", etc.). In the Tula region, gas stations with toilets are a huge problem, in the Lipetsk region, in general, too. Spill the Moscow region, then wait for the Voronezh. By the way, the same goes for the return trip. Do not count on the Tula and Lipetsk regions! On the woods too. This is not that track.

Where to eat on M4

We have a tradition - we always stop at the new generation Lukoil gas station in the Voronezh region at 720 km. (There are gas stations on both sides of the road!). These are not just gas stations - these are modern complexes with cafes, toilets, a shop, children's playgrounds (both indoors and outdoors) and so on.

There are enough hotels on the M4 highway. These are simple motels for truckers, and more or less decent hotels. What can you advise to those who have not taken care of where to spend the night on the way to the sea? It is best to avoid cheap motels right on the road. Choose hotels at least a little away from the highway and have a closed area. An example of such a hotel remote from the territory is the "Wind Rose" (practically on the border of the Voronezh and Rostov regions).


If you are not an extreme person by nature, book a hotel room in advance. Don't know the time when you will arrive at the hotel? It doesn't matter at all. You know the day. Check-in - at any time of the day.


Analyzed booking statistics by city and hotel. Most often, the following cities and towns are chosen for a night stop on the way south (M4 highway):

  • Voronezh,
  • Millerovo,
  • Mines,
  • red ear,
  • Kovalevka,
  • Aksay,
  • Rostov-on-Don,
  • Mayakovsky,
  • Kushchevskaya.

The choice depends on where people started from. It is more convenient for Muscovites to stay in Rostov and in its neighborhood. Petersburgers - in Voronezh. Tulyaks - in the Krasnodar Territory. There are, of course, personal preferences, but everything is individual.
Now the most popular hotels in May, June and July 2016. The list is very different from what I would recommend to you. I suspect that the main part of the hotels is popular due to economic preferences (the same "Alpha" in Rostov) and the smaller one - due to comfort and coziness (for example, the "Rodina" hotel in Mayakovsky). What you choose - decide for yourself.

We always stop for the night. We don't risk, we don't stress. Riding without rest is not about us. It’s not about us to go into the unknown, look for where to stay for the night along the way. We spend the night in pre-booked and checked hotels, where a quiet rest and good food are guaranteed.
We never force ourselves. We get up at a comfortable time, we go at a calm speed. And we get pleasure from the process of driving. Yes, it's a long way. About 1,600 kilometers. But on a highway like the M4, it's not scary at all. Great track, God forbid that there are more of these!
