Resort Yalta in May: what is the weather, prices and tourists

For several years in a row, the Crimean peninsula has been a favorite destination for Russians for the May holidays. People come here to relax, bask in the sun and, if possible, swim in the sea. According to tourists, the weather in Yalta in May 2020 is sunny, and precipitation is expected towards the end of the month. As for the temperature of the water in the sea, it is, unfortunately, low and the most daring and seasoned bathe. But you should not be upset, because Yalta is a beautiful place, beautiful nature and unique views that you will forever remember in your memory.

All residents and tourists of the city are waiting for the last spring month. After all, it is with him that the real spring warmth comes to the region. The dull rains are left somewhere behind, the cold winds have changed direction and are now blowing warm ones, and nature comes to life, and prepare for the summer.
Many are sure that May is the most suitable month for a trip to Yalta. And let it not be possible to swim, but you will see the amazing nature that is only here. The weather won't stop you from enjoying your holiday.

When going on vacation to Yalta, you should take light beach clothes and warm ones with you. During the day, the sun shines here, warming the air up to +18 +20 degrees. Closer to dinner, the thermometers rise to +23, and then it is already more comfortable to be in shorts and T-shirts. At the end of spring, the temperature rises rapidly, catching up with what was missed in April. And now, after the middle of the month, no one is surprised by +27, and closer to summer and all +30 heat. So May is a record month for temperature changes.

But that's only during the day. At night, when there is no sun, the air temperature is still low and does not tend to be higher. The average night temperature is about +12 degrees. At this time, you will need warm clothes. And they will come in handy in the evenings if you decide to take a walk around the city or along the sea. After sunset, it immediately gets colder. And if in sunlight it was +25, then as soon as the last rays go beyond the horizon, it will immediately become +17. And every hour the temperature will drop until the sun rises again in the morning.

Most people associate Yalta with the sea and beach holidays. I don't want to upset you, but you won't be able to swim here this month. The water in the sea is about +13 degrees, and only by June it will warm up to +18. But despite such low rates, there are people who are happy to enter the water and even make swims. If you also decide to test yourself in cold sea water, then be careful, warn others that you are going to swim and let them watch you. In such water, it can bring legs, arms or simply become ill, so your friends should see you at sea and inform the rescuers in case of danger.

The spring sun warms very strongly and every day. There is no precipitation in the first half of May, and they begin at the end of the month, when the air becomes hot. And, as a rule, this is not a quiet spring rain, and a heavy southern downpour with a thunderstorm. Do not be afraid of such weather, because in the summer months, when it is even hotter, showers and thunderstorms are even stronger. According to statistics, about 30 millimeters of precipitation falls per month, and there are 2-3 rainy days.

Light day is very long, and is about 15 hours. This is the time when at least one ray of sunshine shines over the city. And the whole day lasts almost 17 hours. Vacationers like it, because this way you can relax for a long time, and sleep little.

Yalta in May: what is it like, what to do?

At the end of spring, there are not so many tourists in the resort. No, they are, but if we compare their number with the summer months, then they are few. But the prices from this are not lower, and sometimes even higher than summer ones. This is because of the May holidays, when vacationers come here. Usually houses are rented upon arrival, and when you arrive there is nowhere to go, you have to take what you have for the price. To save money, it is better to find and book a house or room at the right price through the websites in advance.

What to do in Yalta in May? Yes, you are unlikely to be able to swim in the sea, unless you are a “walrus” and are not used to such water. But you can sunbathe under the spring sun, which is not yet very active, which means that your skin will not cause much trouble. Plus, the fishing here is great these days, so grab your rods, you won't regret it.
And do not forget about the nature, which, according to tourists, is one of the best on the entire peninsula. And the sights in the city will help you get acquainted with the history of the city and the entire Crimea.

In summer, the cultural program of the resort is especially rich - in June, the International Festival of Brass Music "Fanfares of Yalta" takes place - during the days of the festival, professional and amateur brass bands perform on the squares, embankments and concert venues of the resort villages. An important event in the world of music is the Jaliton International Jazz Festival, the Star Crimea Music Festival.

In the middle of summer, guests of Yalta can see performances by participants in the Dance Festival "Contemporary dance", break-dance festival "Yalta Summer Jam".

Traditional events for Yalta were the International TV and Film Forum "Together" and the International Festival of Theater Arts "Teatr. Chekhov. Yalta.

Yalta is my favorite city in Crimea. It is considered a resort, and the tourist season lasts from June to September, but at any time of the year I have a great rest here and find something to my liking.

May is a good time to relax in Yalta:

  • the sun is not yet baking, there is no sweltering heat, it is warm. I go hiking in the mountains with a tent and enjoy the beauty of nature;
  • there are few tourists, there are no queues, you can get on all the planned excursions;
  • it’s convenient to take pictures, no strangers constantly fit into the frame;
  • the prices are reasonable, there is still no rush among vacationers, it is easy to rent housing.

But the sea is cold, and swimming will not work. Water temperature - +13 °С. But you can wander along the heated pebbles, sunbathe, walk along the coast.

At the end of May last year I was lucky enough to swim. The temperature during the day during the week reached +20 °C, the sea warmed up quickly, and I had a chance to open the swimming season.

For walks in May, the most optimal weather conditions. There is little precipitation, it gets dark late, and the thermometer during the day approaches +18 ° С. It's time for hiking and conquering the top of Ai-Petri. You can visit the Wuchang-Su waterfall before it dries up from the heat. But at night it is still cool - 12 ° C. Long sleeves, sneakers, a windbreaker will come in handy.

May Yalta air is light, fresh, filled with aromas of flowering trees and flowers. I returned from vacation, full of strength and energy.

In the evening, I advise you to take a walk along the promenade and breathe in the sea air. There are many attractions in the city: palaces, parks, the Botanical Garden, the zoo, the Glade of Fairy Tales museum.

Children will be interested in visiting the dolphinarium and the water area. They show performances of marine animals. Instead of uselessly lying on the beach, I explored all corners of Yalta.

You can relax in Yalta not only in summer, but also in spring, but it is best to spend holidays in Yalta in May 2020. This is the most comfortable month when the weather is already quite stable with average air temperature. Usually the temperature range is between 18 and 25 degrees, although it is still quite cool at night. Unfortunately, Yalta in May photo does not allow vacationers to swim in the sea, which does not have time to warm up to normal temperatures.

The only thing doctors advise is sunbathing, because the sun allows you to get an even tan and heal the whole body. A feature is also that there are quite a few vacationers in the city during this period. Therefore, you can walk around Yalta and watch how nature comes to life and flourishes. Roses, wisteria, field grasses are just beginning to bloom.

Holidays in Yalta in May: reviews of accommodation

An important nuance of the holidays are low housing prices. Most sanatoriums, hotels and boarding houses operate all year round, unlike coastal recreation centers and mini-hotels. The cost of the room will be much lower than at the beginning or middle of summer. Usually those who want to combine rest with treatment try to come to Yalta at this time. The flowering of herbs during this period fills the air with healing properties that have a beneficial effect on the body.

Yalta in May: attractions

May is the only resort time when the promenade and beaches are empty. This is a great opportunity to walk on the pebbles and sand, wander on the water or just sit on the shore. Rest in Yalta in May is the best opportunity to visit interesting places when there are fewer tourists. It is best to start acquaintance with the city from the embankment, which is a landmark of Yalta.

Mandatory places worth visiting without a crowd include the Bukhara Palace (the era of the Mauritanian Emir), Livadia and Vorontsov Palace. After that, it is worth taking a ride on the funiculars, which offer stunning views of the city, sea and mountains.

The advantage is the free visit (most often complex) of famous historical and natural places. Rest in Yalta in April-May provides an opportunity to see mountain waterfalls, nature reserves, the Yalta Zoo and Botanical Garden.

Yalta in May: entertainment reviews

Most discos are closed in May, but this does not stop the evening and night life of Yalta. Yalta, Crimea in May is the center of festivals and various holidays. Yalta was chosen by musicians who organize a jazz festival here every year. It is international in status, because frontmen from Europe, Asia and America come here.

Another popular entertainment is the tulip parade, which takes place in the Nikitsky Botanical Garden. The holiday is timed to coincide with the flowering of these flowers, of which a huge number of varieties have been bred in the garden.
