Distance from palma de mallorca to formentor. Cape Formentor, Majorca, Spain - beach, hotel and photo. How best to get to Cape Formentor

Cape Formentor - one of the most stunning places on the island of Mallorca ( Balearic Islands, Spain). It is a pity that this is due to the fact that there are no really amazing places in Mallorca. Although, maybe I just got drunk. In Catalan, the cape is pronounced Cap de FormEnto.

Cape Formentor is the northernmost part of the island of Mallorca. The cape can be conditionally divided into two parts. The first is from the town of Port de Pollença to Formentor beach. The second is from the beach to the lighthouse.

The first part is teeming with tourists, buses and cars. Most people only travel to the beach. The roads are wider here, and from interesting places only two observation decks.

The main observation deck (Mirador del Mal Pas) is located directly next to the road, it is impossible to drive through it. There are always many cars and buses parked here.

The second site is located at watchtower, on the mountain, directly above the first lookout. Almost no one goes there. Narrow but safe, the road leads there directly from observation deck Mirador del Mal Pas.

On the very first pass there is the most popular observation deck of the cape - Mirador del Mal Pas. In guidebooks they write what it is sheer cliff about 400 meters high. This is certainly not the case. The highest mountain on the cape (Fumart) is only 384 meters.

Mirador del Mal Pas viewpoint, Cap de Formentor

Formentor is also one of the most famous beaches in Mallorca. He reminded me of a dowry, except for the history and image of the beach there is nothing. The beach is loved for its calm water; it is closed from the sea by Cape Formentor and a small island of the same name. There are TIB passenger buses and ships from Port de Pollença to the beach. Tourists are brought here in organized groups. We met TezTour and Natalie Tours groups. These "Soviet" groups look so funny, especially when they receive instructions from a guide :)

In fact, Formentor beach is a narrow strip of sand (of average quality) between the water and the road to the famous Formentor hotel (now Barceló Formentor). There are thousands of such beaches on the Mediterranean, but not all of them are so crowded, paid parking (12 euros) and such expensive food (twice as expensive as the average in Mallorca). The water is not particularly clean here, snorkeling is not much fun.

They say that the Formentor hotel is considered the most fashionable on the island of Mallorca, but with such a price and Barceló, something I doubt. Many famous people have stayed here. IN different time the guests of the hotel were Churchill, Gorbachev, Jacques Chirac, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly. I think that Agatha Christie's collection of short stories "Troubles in Pollense and Other Stories" appeared not without the influence of these places.

And this is how Formentor beach looks from the watchtower. Do not be lazy to come here, just 3 minutes from the main observation deck, and you can see the entire northeastern part of the island of Mallorca.

In the foreground is the Bahia de Pollensa, then the Alcudia peninsula with the city of the same name and Port de Alcudia, well, and further away, the Bahia de Alcudia.

But the fun begins behind the beach. If we had first reached the lighthouse, we would have stopped not at Formentor beach, but at Catalonia beach. It is located in a small cove, right in front of the only tunnel. There is no sand here, as a result, the water is cleaner and less crowded.

The road to the lighthouse is an attraction in itself. The length of the road from Port de Pollença to the lighthouse is about 13.5 km, it was built in the 1930s. It was built by the Italian engineer Antonio Paretti. He also built the most known road in Mallorca -.

If you go from Palma to the northeast, then you will arrive at a place that yourself locals jokingly called "the end of the earth." Cape Formentor (Mallorca) is one of the most picturesque and beautiful places on the island, the leader in terms of tourist visits. Cape Formentor, even in Mallorca, where all the attractions are under the close attention of the authorities, has a special status. That is why nature here has been preserved in an almost pristine world, and even in Mallorca you cannot find such impressive, sometimes even contrasting, landscapes anywhere else.

Cape Formentor is located in the northeastern part of the island. It borders the bay of Pollença and juts out far into the strait that separates Mallorca and Menorca. The famous Formentor beach is located on the cape - one of the cleanest in Mallorca. The air here is, without exaggeration, unique - nowhere else can you find such an amazing combination of fresh sea breeze and a pine forest warmed by the sun (the beach is actually quite narrow, 8-meter, strip of clean fine sand between the sea and pine forest; its length is 850 meters). Cala Formentor beach awarded with a blue flag.

Besides, there are never waves here. However, the position of "lifeguard" on the Formentor beach in Mallorca still exists - since there is an opportunity to rent a jet ski, there is a need for lifeguards.

The famous five-star hotel Barcelo Formentor, the most fashionable in Mallorca, is located almost on the beach itself. If you stop there, you can park your car in the hotel parking lot; if you live in some other place, then, having reached the fork in the road (one leads to the beach, the other to the lighthouse), you will have to leave the car and continue on foot.

Lighthouse

One of the main attractions in Mallorca is the Formentor lighthouse, the address and photographs of which can be found on almost any travel booklet.

The Formentor lighthouse is located on a cliff with a beautiful view of both the bay and the cape. On the way to the lighthouse (and here you will have to get either by car or on foot, and it will be quite far from the nearest bus stop) there are observation decks every now and then. From them you can admire the views of the island - the lighthouse is located at an altitude of 200 meters above sea level, - the endless expanses of the sea, see the rocky islet of Kolomer. One of the most famous is the mirador de la Creueta.

The lighthouse took a long time to build - six whole years. Such "long-term construction" was caused by the difficulty of access to the construction site. More than a century and a half ago, in 1863, it was lit for the first time and functions to this day; now it works on solar panels, its work is fully automated. There is a cafe inside.

How to get there?

Naturally, anyone wishing to visit Cape Formentor (Mallorca) has a question of how to get there. You can buy an excursion to Pollença - this, in general, a small town also has something to see: both ancient buildings and a staircase with 365 steps, along which a procession of believers ascends every year on Good Friday. After visiting Pollença, you will go to the cape.

Alternatively, from the port of Pollença you can reach Formentor Beach by boat.

Some of the closest attractions to the cape are (it is located just over 35 km) and

Today, we will visit, in my opinion, the most beautiful place Mallorca, and possibly the whole of Spain - the peninsula-Cape Formentor.

And of course we admire the views of the island and the sea.

Next to the peninsula, separately, protruding from the water, is the El Colomer mountain, which is why the site received the same name.

Formentor, Mallorca.

After the observation deck, we go to the lighthouse 260 meters above sea level, on a clear day from the lighthouse you can even see Menorca.

The road to the lighthouse goes through the Formentor hotel and the tunnel in the mountain, which delighted the children.

At the Formentor lighthouse, also popularly called the Cape of the Meeting of the Winds, parking is small and free. Parking is a bit problematic during rush hour. There is a cafe in the lighthouse itself.

The road to the promontory, as well as the most famous road in Mallorca, La Colobra, was designed by the Italian architect Antonio Paretti. To implement his plans, some of the rocks were removed, and in other places, embankments were made from these deletions. The lighthouse itself was built in 1892.

To the lighthouse along the road, 150 meters line of parked cars.

Cape Formentor in Majorca is one of the most popular destinations. It is a narrow tape-peninsula located in the very north of the island.

To get to the cape, you need to move towards a town called Port Pollença, from where you can steeply climb three hundred meters higher to the rocks of Formentor.

The length of the connecting thread, which is the road between the end of the cape and the port of Pollença, is 12 kilometers. A ride on it is akin to an attraction, caution is above all! But in front of the observatory of Formentor and the gorgeous views that open from them.

First site
equipped for review right on the way, do not miss it. Tourist buses often they only reach this point, since further you can only drive by car - it's too narrow a section. So, if you want to see the lighthouse closer, you need to think about the vehicle in advance.

Next observation deck is located even higher, near the ancient watchtower. The road rushes to it immediately from the first observatory. And pretty cool! This ride is breathtaking. But the panorama from here is even more beautiful. Due to the fact that each next site is slightly higher above sea level, there is a feeling of soaring. The opposite side of Formentor appears, together with the Gulf of Pollença, enclosed between the already mentioned Formentor and Cape Alcudia, visible in the distance. Reachable for the eyes and all the famous beach of the same name, one of the cleanest in the world.

On the shore formentor beach, famous for its environmental friendliness and the absence of waves, a luxurious hotel was built, which, oddly enough, was named Formentor. At one time, it was visited by celebrities, including Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly. The politicians also loved this place: Gorbachev, Churchill, Jacques Chirac.

By the way, to watchtower at the second site, you can climb a path with stone steps. Moreover - no one will forbid to see what is inside ancient structure... From here you can look (if your head is not dizzy) at the first platform, where people will seem like only small dots!

Further tourists are waiting lighthouse Formentor, the most extreme point peninsula. What used to be a narrow road is now perceived as a wide avenue, because the one that leads directly to the lighthouse looks more like a path. It is problematic to separate two cars. And ahead there are 8 kilometers of serpentine and even one tunnel.

Having reached the lighthouse, you can also refresh yourself in the cafe located here. And then take a look at the opening views. Stone steps are distinguishable along the road, perhaps the road to the lighthouse was once there. By the way, to Formentor a lot of interesting animals! Seagulls soar, cute mountain goats and fluffy Spanish cats run.

Directly from the lighthouse, you can go down to Formentor beach and cool off in the sea water. And also admire the five-star hotel mentioned above. Formentor covered with sand is not wide, the air here is saturated with the awesome scent of pine needles.

A small Spanish town, cozy and charming, which will become the starting point of our trip, is called Pollença. It is protected by mountains, washed by the sea and is distinguished by the amazing harsh beauty of huge inaccessible rocks. The combination of age-old pine trees with warm gentle beaches is exactly what delights many tourists in the region. And this is only the first impression, because everything will be overshadowed by Cape Formentor in Mallorca, where you can see simply stunning landscapes.

To begin with, in Pollense, you need to visit the Puig de Calvari hill, where there are more than one hundred steps. There are three hundred and sixty-five of them in total, but on the way you can take a break and enjoy the aromas of the heady air. Upstairs you can admire the surroundings of antiquity. So, Puig de Maria belongs to the 15th century, the monastery of Santo Domingo, together with a charming Roman bridge, to the XIV. The beauty and inviolability of ancient buildings amazes here.

Cape Formentor, Mallorca. How to get there yourself

After enjoying the magnificent views of Pollença and its ancient architecture, you can go to Cape Formentor in Majorca. In this place, everything that previously aroused admiration will seem plain and boring. Because new types and emotions will be much stronger. Let's start with a mountain serpentine road that connects Pollença with the final point - a lighthouse. Riding on it is still a pleasure. The road bends like a snake, already a few meters away - a turn beyond which, of course, nothing is visible. It seems that oncoming cars are going straight ahead, and on the other side - a dimensionless abyss. Plus, the road is full of cyclists, which is for the best - the cars have to keep to a very reasonable speed.

Dangers on the road

You should not be afraid of reckless drivers when approaching the serpentine road to Cape Formentor in Mallorca. The drivers are very careful here, giving way to each other and pedestrians. You won't be able to get lost either - there are so many pointers that it is easier to get lost in three pines. And the highway from Pollença to the lighthouse leads only one thing, there is simply nowhere to turn off the road, in any case you will reach the famous beach. There you can leave your car in the parking lot and go to famous beach... Photos of Cape Formentor in Mallorca simply cannot convey all its beauty, so it is better to see it with your own eyes. This is one of the most visited places in Spain. And if you have such an opportunity, be sure to visit there.

Cape location

The cape itself is located on the northern tip of the Spanish island and already from the plane presents a magnificent sight - a narrow and winding hulk that resembles huge mansunbathing with arms outstretched. The view from the cape is even more fantastic. The vast expanses of the sea mountain ranges, protruding into the sea with terrifying majestic cliffs and a small wild islet of Kolomer. Leaving the car in the parking lot at Formentor Beach, tourists can go straight down to the famous fabulous beach or head to the Formentor Cape Lighthouse in Majorca.

Panorama and views

The cape is the northernmost point of the entire island. Here, at a glance, you can see not only the Pollença bay, but also another world famous spanish resort - the island of Menorca. True, if you're lucky with the weather. Visibility drops significantly on a rainy, stormy day. But even in a storm, the view from the lighthouse is simply amazing - the raging waves crash to smithereens on the rock on which the lighthouse is located. An incredible sight not for the faint of heart. At this moment, you especially feel your insecurity in front of the elements.

The lighthouse of Cape Formentor itself (Cap de Formentor) is located at an altitude of 300 meters above sea level. This area is especially popular with tourists, although the beaches of Formentor and Pollença are not considered to be crowded places - it is forbidden to build large hotels here and you will not find noisy establishments. Unless the artists come here in droves. Views of such beauty are rare on the entire planet.

Cape Formentor in Mallorca. Tourist route

The best way to get to the lighthouse and the Formentor beach is by renting a car. There is also a bus from Pollença beach, but it leaves only once a day at 10:15 and arrives at the place at about 12 noon. Not the best option, so if you have a choice, it's better to rent a car. The latter option is also supported by the fact that the bus only reaches the observation deck, from which it is far and unrealistic to walk to the beach and the lighthouse on foot. Most of the beauty in this case remains behind the scenes.

Another quite acceptable option is a taxi, but it must be ordered in advance by phone. The town of Pollença is small and it is unrealistic to find a taxi quickly. You can take it first to the observation deck, then go to the beach and the lighthouse, calmly walk while the car is waiting, and then go home on it. A visit to Cape Formentor must be included in the trip program if you happen to be in Mallorca. This is a truly wonderful place that will leave a lot of positive impressions.
