Kouvola festivals

Various festivals are constantly held in Kouvola and the surrounding area. Among them, the annual Kymijoki Beer Festival (www.facebook.com/kymijokibeerfestival, www.beerfestival.fi). The recipe for success, like all such events, is very simple: a picturesque place plus good beer and a generous portion of perky music. The Finns have no problems with either one or the other. The festival is held on the banks of the Kymijoki River - the event is named after her.

The city also hosts agricultural fairs such as Meidän Maaseutu festival("Our Village"). This is a local event, but tourists, especially families with children, should attend this event, which is held in Kouvola once every two years. The large section with animals is of interest: here you can pet, feed and take pictures. Children can interact with sheep, goats, ponies, chickens and other livestock, as well as admire how skillfully trained shepherd dogs manage the herd.

An important cultural event in the life of the city is the annual music festival, which is held in, on the shore of the lake. A raft serves as a stage for the performers. Classical music is usually performed. Thanks to the water and rocks, unique acoustics are created here.

In 2013, the number of Russians in Kouvola increased by more than 50 percent compared to last year.

Kouvola Tourist Office is located at Kauppalankatu 5, in the very center of the city, 500 meters from the train station. There are also Russian-speaking employees working here.
