Very expensive train tickets. What determines the price of train tickets? When is the best time to buy tickets

In Moscow, a picket took place at the head office of Russian Railways, the participants of which demanded a reduction in tariffs for travel on trains.

This is not the first such action. The pricing policy of Russian railways has long been puzzling. Despite the fact that according to the estimates of the same JSC, the wear of the passenger car fleet reaches at least 60%, the state of track and station facilities is not much better, the current level of comfort is, according to available estimates, only a third of the total number of fast and passenger trains, ticket prices grow uncontrollably. In 2010, they increased by 15-35%!

In a word, the railways are actively shifting their growing costs, including the low quality of cars and the trips themselves, onto the shoulders of consumers-passengers. That is why, in fact, in Russia the most expensive Railway tickets... At the same time, the administration of Russian Railways now and then recommends the government to raise ticket prices.

As for the highest category of trips - in the "Lux" or "SV" class - these compartments, due to the shortage of cars of this kind, are often "transformed" from ordinary compartment cars. Namely: the 4-seater compartment is divided in two and turns into a two-seater. In such an uncomplicated way, the coupe is assigned the “Lux” or CB class. But the minimum cost of a ticket of this class rises sharply, becoming the maximum in the world. So, in terms of the current course, a compartment ticket from Moscow to Vologda (500 km) on a fast train can be bought today for almost 70 euros. Although the price of a ticket of a similar class Milan-Rome (600 km) is ... 25 euros, Berlin - Vienna (520 km) - 47 euros, Kiev - Lviv (505 km) - 25 euros, Minsk-Gomel (Belarus, about 300 km) - no more than 15 euros, and Tbilisi - Batumi (Georgia, 400 km) - generally 13 euros ...

Of course, the constant rise in ticket prices contributes to greater isolation Russian cities and regions from each other. That is, the pricing policy of railways in today's Russia, ultimately, actually aggravates the already significant socio-economic disparities between the subjects of the Federation.

Especially for the Century

On Railwayman's Day, the head of the Federal Passenger Company, Pyotr Ivanov, answered questions from AiF.ru readers.

This year, the Day of the Railwayman in Russia celebrates the 120th anniversary. On this day, AiF.ru asked general director"Federal Passenger Company" Peter Ivanov to answer questions from readers.

Question: V recent times more and more often it is necessary to buy tickets for trains, the price of which includes lunch. Why can't a passenger buy tickets from an imposed service?

Answer: Meals are not included in the ticket price for all FPK trains. It is not included in the price of tickets for reserved seat and common carriages, as well as compartment carriages of non-branded trains. Therefore, the passenger always has a choice in which train to travel.

Meals are included in the fare in most Lux, SV, compartment trains. Meals are also included in the fare in SV carriages and compartments of non-branded trains belonging to the carriage category. superior comfort and having service class 1B, 1E, 1E, 2E, and in carriages with seats of the 1st class - this is a double-decker train Moscow - Voronezh, "Strizh" Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod, day trains Moscow - Yaroslavl, which are also elevated cars. comfort and belong to the service class 1P, 1B.

An analysis of various additional services included in the ticket price to distinguish necessary from optional. In particular, it is possible to choose a meal option when ordering a ticket. Moreover, if the passenger does not want to pay for food in advance, we will offer seats on trains where food service is not included in the fare. There are also complaints about the inadequacy of a one-time catering service provided for a long journey. Therefore, in the future, it is planned to introduce the possibility of passengers choosing the frequency of food services included in the fare, at the stage of issuing travel documents.

What types of cars are there on Russian trains?

Question: I often buy tickets for long-distance trains online without going through online registration. A constant picture that I observe: non-working terminals, in which it is impossible to print a ticket to get on the train. Moreover, for this reason, a couple of years ago, I could not get on the train. All terminals at the station were inoperative, the administrator was not there for 15 minutes, and at the three operating long-distance ticket offices I was assured that "they do not know how to print e-ticket". How do you monitor the serviceability of terminals and training of employees?

Answer: Most likely, you do not mean a printout of an electronic ticket, but a boarding pass. If, after purchasing an electronic ticket, you do not go through on-line registration, then in Russia you have the opportunity to receive a boarding pass on a travel document form at a long-distance ticket office or to print it yourself in a self-service terminal. At present, the control over the operation of the terminals is strengthened, all malfunctions are identified and eliminated as quickly as possible. In addition, training and professional development of employees is carried out on an ongoing basis and all personnel have the necessary technical skills.

If you encounter a problem with non-working terminals, or long-distance ticket offices refuse to issue you a boarding pass, please contact me. email [email protected]

Question: Hello! Please tell me what prevents us from bringing the speed of our high-speed trains to the world level today? What is the absolute speed record currently set on the railways of the Russian Federation and will Elon Musk's idea - a transport project called Hyperloop in Russia - become a reality?

Answer: Our speeds are actually limited by the capabilities of infrastructure and trains - most wagons can move at a maximum speed of 140 km / h. To ensure a higher speed, both the preparation of the appropriate paths and the preparation of the corresponding train are required.

"Nevsky Express", "Strizh" and international trains can move at speeds up to 200 km / h. There are very few high-speed routes on the territory of Russia today, there are only separate small sections of railways, except for Moscow and St. Petersburg, on which trains can run at high speed.

So far, the Moscow - St. Petersburg direction is developing. For other destinations, this will depend on the infrastructure and the availability of trains in the timetable for specific destinations.

How to buy an electronic train ticket?

Question: The format of e-tickets is very convenient, but why is it necessary to print the form?

Answer: Today, in order to board the train, a passenger who has issued an electronic ticket must go through the registration procedure. It can be done in two ways:

  • receive a boarding pass at the ticket office or print it out through the self-service terminal;
  • go through the procedure electronic registration on the Russian Railways website and receive a boarding pass with a special 2D barcode by e-mail, confirming the legitimacy of the boarding pass.

FPK is working to simplify the procedure for boarding a train for passengers who have passed on-line registration on the basis of an identity document. For this, the train crews of our trains are systematically equipped with specialized technical means of controlling the boarding of passengers, which allow us to control illegitimate (returned, canceled) tickets.

Is smoking allowed on trains?

Question: Earlier there was talk about the introduction of a carriage for smokers, albeit with higher prices. Where are they? Why conductors "can" smoke in the vestibules in the stove, but passengers - not.

Answer: Smoking on long-distance trains is prohibited. Neither smoking in the vestibules, nor separate carriages for smokers are provided for by law.

If in front of your eyes someone is smoking in the vestibule or in the toilet, you must inform the guide. If the conductor cannot resolve this issue, it is necessary to contact the head of the train. If the head of the train cannot cope on his own, he will call the police squad. The legislation does not provide for other options today.

Question: With dynamic pricing, train tickets have become more expensive than plane tickets (for example, Volgograd - Moscow). What is the reason for this?

Answer: Dynamic pricing has three main principles. The first is that the earlier, the cheaper. Second, the higher the demand, the higher the price. And the third - the lower the category of the car, the cheaper. Using the capabilities of the system, passengers planning a trip in advance can significantly save on travel costs. Most likely, you pay attention to the cost of the ticket not at the moment of the start of sales, but closer to the date of departure during the period of increased demand for this route and choose seats in the cars of a higher category.

For example, on the first day of sales, tariffs for compartment cars on the branded train No. 001I on the Moscow - Volgograd route, departing on September 1, 2016, were 3179.5 rubles. when traveling on the top shelf and 4017 rubles. when driving on the bottom shelf. On fast train No. 015Y on the route Moscow - Volgograd, departure on September 1, 2016 - 2099.50 rubles. when traveling on the top shelf and 2718 rubles. when driving on the bottom shelf.

In accordance with the schedule of flexible tariff regulation (without the use of dynamic pricing), the fare for the period from September 1 to September 30, 2016 on this route would have been RUB 5,085.7 on a branded train, which is 22% higher than that published in the first days of sales. in a fast train - 3390.4 rubles, which is 20% higher than published in the first days of sales.

Question: Why do I still have to pay some extra money when I issue a ticket for Russian Railways Bonus points?

Answer: The cost of a ticket for FPK trains consists of two parts - the fare for the carriage of a passenger and services, for example, bed linen, food and a hygiene kit. The tariff for transportation is directly FPC services, and the cost of services is compensated to their suppliers. RZD Bonus points are a discount on travel, so now they can only pay for the fare, excluding services. But we are working with service providers on the possibility of paying for them also through points of the "RZD Bonus" program.

How to get to the capital of Lithuania after canceling the Moscow - Vilnius train?

Question: Why was the Moscow - Vilnius train canceled? Is there a chance that this route will be renewed?

Answer: The decision to adjust the size of traffic on the Moscow-Vilnius section was taken jointly by the railway administrations of Russia and Lithuania to reduce operating costs due to a decrease in traffic volumes between The Russian Federation and the Republic of Lithuania.

Since December 13, 2015, train No. 5/6 Moscow - Vilnius of the formation of JSC "Lithuanian Railways" was canceled, but the train Kaliningrad - Moscow of this company included groups of trailer cars on the Moscow - Vilnius route.

The resumption of the running of train No. 5/6 Moscow - Vilnius is possible in the event of an increase in passenger traffic in this direction.

Question: Please tell me what discounts and benefits are there for children and what you need to use them?

When booking a parking space by the departure of a vehicle in the period from April 25 to September 10, from December 20 to January 15, the redemption of the reserved parking spaces must be made within 3 days from the date of confirmation of the reservation. For reservations less than 3 days before the departure date of the train with which the car carrier is traveling, the redemption period is 1 day, but no later than 1 day before the train leaves.

Answer: To date, almost 70% of all cars of JSC "FPK" are equipped with air conditioning systems. All carriages of branded trains and luxury carriages of passenger trains are equipped with guaranteed air conditioning.

When buying a ticket, you need to pay attention to the class of service to which the carriage you have chosen belongs to. The class of service to which the carriage belongs is also indicated on the right side of the ticket.

Have you ever traveled on Russian Railways trains?
Have you bought train tickets?

Have you ever asked for a ticket at the box office (or through the Russian Railways website) for the required date and did not find seats on the train? Or find out that only reserved seats near the toilet?
Prudent people buy tickets in advance - several weeks in advance. But when they also find such a situation, they usually start to panic.

I will reveal to you one secret that will make your travel on Russian Railways trains more comfortable.

How do different people buy tickets?

Let's consider 3 scenarios:

1. Alarmists.
Train tickets start selling 45 days before departure.
BUT! In 45 days, only a small number of tickets go on sale. These tickets are usually some of the worst. And nevertheless, they are all immediately sold out by alarmists who see that there are few tickets left on sale. As a result, the alarmists are happy - they grabbed the penultimate ticket in the reserved seat on the side.

2. Ordinary people.
An ordinary citizen realizes that it is time to buy a ticket a couple of weeks before the trip. He goes to the cashier, goes to the Russian Railways website and sees that the worst places are left: reserved seats near the toilet or a compartment of increased cost. Not wanting to go to the toilet, he buys a coupe of increased value. And I am happy that although I overpaid, he will go with comfort. Promising himself that next time he would take care of buying a ticket in advance. However, this promise will of course be forgotten.

3. Lucky ones
Some lucky ones remember that they need to go a couple of days in advance. And some are determined already right on the day of departure - for example, when the boss orders them to take time off. They fly to the station like a bullet and quietly buy themselves without a queue. the best place: either a good inexpensive coupe or a high-quality reserved seat at the most trump place. Sometimes they are still surprised that such places have not been sold out before them. But they explain this to themselves by the fact that they are always lucky in life.

Tickets do not go on sale immediately, but in small portions. Portions go on sale in a certain amount of time: 45, 30, 15, 10, 7, 3 and 1 days and one more portion one hour before departure!

The first tickets go on sale 45 days in advance. And this, as I wrote above, is only a small part of the places and, indeed, these are the worst places.
There is no need to rush to buy them.

The largest emissions of tickets on sale occur in 10 days and in the morning on the day of departure (or per day). Then you need to buy tickets.

Plus, the blowout that occurs in 3 days is sometimes large too, because it is during this period that it is decided whether to include additional wagons in the composition.

In general, the correct algorithm is:
- having realized in a couple of weeks that it is time for you to buy tickets, focus on the above periods of ticket sales and periodically (once a day, for example) monitor tickets on the RZD.RU website. If the tickets you need are not there now, then just WAIT QUIETLY.
- when the tickets that suit you have appeared, buy them directly on the website.

PS / FYI:
- I knew the idea and used it earlier, but I found the timing of the release of tickets

And one more useful link with information on how the sale of tickets for trains passing through the territories belonging to different railway departments (for example, the Moscow-Kiev train) works.

Conclusion from there:
you should not buy tickets at a regular ticket office with a stupid cashier (which are the majority), but you need to buy tickets via the Internet or at a service center.

On July 22, Russian Railways announced the introduction of the Plan ahead tariff. According to this tariff, when buying a ticket 41-45 days in advance, a passenger can get a 40% discount. We have compiled instructions on how you can buy tickets for different trains as cheaply as possible.

"Sapsan"

Let's start from the very popular train Russia - from "Sapsan". 6-7 pairs of "Sapsans" go between Moscow and St. Petersburg every day, depending on the day of the week. Two pairs of trains run between Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod.

When buying tickets for "Sapsan" you need to know some simple rules. There is a simple pricing scheme here: the earlier you buy a ticket, the cheaper it will be. The spread is significant. When buying a ticket for an economy class carriage in 45 days, a ticket between Moscow and St. Petersburg will cost 2323 rubles. On the day of departure - 3483 rubles. In the direction Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod, the price range is 1081.8 - 1622.8 rubles.

WITH detailed instructions the pricing of tickets for "Sapsan" in carriages of different classes can be found on the Russian Railways website in the relevant section.

Trains with dynamic pricing system

Since spring, Russian Railways has introduced the sale of tickets for a number of destinations using a dynamic pricing system. This system, fortunately, did not affect reserved seats, seated and general carriages of trains, but it more than recouped in compartments and suites.

The dynamic pricing system operates in most of the demanded areas. Moscow - Petersburg, Moscow - Adler, Moscow - Kazan and others, the list of which can be viewed on the Russian Railways website.

Its essence lies in the fact that the passenger never knows how much a ticket to a particular train will cost. On the Russian Railways website, it is indicated that, allegedly, on the first day of sales, tickets are the cheapest, but it has repeatedly happened that ticket sales start with an amount that goes down the next day.

There may be several tips here. First, if you want to save money, you really should try to buy a ticket in advance. Most cheap ticket is not always sold on the first day of sales, but when buying on the Internet it is easy to "play" with it. If you bought a ticket in 45 days, and then saw a cheaper one, then the first one can be returned directly on the Russian Railways website (losses will be about 150 rubles) and buy a new one.

Secondly, remember that the top shelf is cheaper than the bottom one.

Thirdly, there is such a wonderful thing as pass trains. Let's look at an example. The dynamo system applies to the Moscow - Petersburg route. But this route is followed by the Petersburg-Makhachkala train via Moscow. So, the dynamic pricing system does not apply to this pass-through train, and you can buy a ticket for it on the day of departure at the same price as for 45 days. Another thing is that you need to understand that tickets for such trains are quickly discarded.

Fourthly, Russian Railways has a wonderful "joint" that can be used. It is often cheaper to buy tickets for trains on a dynamo direction with a breakdown of the route into several parts. For example, for a number of trains between Moscow and St. Petersburg, even on the day of departure, you can buy a ticket for 2500 thousand with a breakdown of Moscow - Bologoye and Bologoye - Petersburg. Having carefully studied the availability of free seats, you can easily guess so as to go in one place and not change anywhere in the middle of the night. A ticket to the same place on the full Moscow - Petersburg route can cost up to 5,000.

When buying tickets, prices for which are set according to a dynamic system, one must remember that in branded trains dry rations are always included in the ticket price. However, its contents are not very impressive and does not eliminate the need to take normal food on the train. There is not even tea in this ration, but there is jam and pate, which there is nothing to spread on. The Russian Railways website also states that the compartment cars of trains, tickets for which are sold according to the dynamic pricing system, have an air conditioner. This is often not the case.

The dynamic pricing system also applies to a number of seated carriages of branded trains. We are talking about trains "Nevsky Express" (Moscow - Petersburg), "Burevestnik" (Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod ")," Lastochka "and some others.

Discount carriages

Russian Railways has set special "Plan in advance" tariffs for compartment cars on more than 100 routes. As a rule, these are not very popular destinations. Unlike a dynamic pricing system, there are clear rules on what the price depends on. The rules here are the same as in the case of the dynamo system: the earlier you buy a ticket, the cheaper it is, but here you can calculate in advance what day and in which direction, how much a ticket will cost. For example, it is said that when buying a ticket from 45 to 41 days before the train departure, you will receive a 40% discount.

It must be said that the carrier sets not only a discount on these cars, but also a mark-up. So, buying tickets less than 10 days before the departure of the train, the cost of tickets increases by 10%.

The pricing rules for these compartment cars are published on the Russian Railways website in the corresponding section.

Plazkart and all other compartment cars

With reserved seat cars, everything is relatively simple. Prices for them are set in accordance with seasonal schedule price regulation, which is published on the Russian Railways website, and does not change depending on the number of remaining tickets or days before the train leaves. As you can see, in May you can buy a ticket for a reserved seat carriage at half price, but in summer and at the end of December tickets will cost the most.

There were also a number of compartment cars that were not covered by either a dynamic pricing system or special discounts. They are also priced in accordance with a flexible price regulation schedule.

Discount for purchases in terminals

When buying tickets to compartment cars and SV through the terminals installed at railway stations before September 1, a 7% discount is provided to all compartment cars of the FPC carrier (most Russian trains serviced by the subsidiary of Russian Railways - the Federal Passenger Company, with the exception of some private carriages, trains Sapsan, Lastochka, Grand Express and Megapolis).

Russian Railways bonus program

If you use railway transport, do not be lazy to register in the RZD-bonus program. If you travel often and a lot, then it makes sense to accumulate points and exchange them for tickets. This is a very useful thing, because if you suddenly need to go urgently, but the tickets are still very expensive (on the Moscow-Petersburg route on the day of departure, the cost of compartment tickets can reach 7-8 thousand rubles), then issuing a ticket for points can be a salvation.

If you do not travel very much, then you will be served at the basic level of the Russian Railways bonus. If you often travel, for example, between Moscow and St. Petersburg, then every 11th trip you can apply for points. If you travel constantly (at least 50 trips per year), then you will be transferred to the gold service level, and you will accumulate points one and a half times faster.

Additional trains and carriages

Speaking about how to save on tickets, we did not say one important thing. About additional trains. The fact is that if you went to the Russian Railways website in search of the ticket you need, but you didn’t find it, and all available tickets are already too expensive, there is no need to despair. On the most popular destinations Russian Railways introduces additional trains.

If you do not see the desired ticket several weeks before departure, this does not mean that it will not appear later. An additional train can be assigned a few days before departure.

There is one more rule. For most trains (except for trains with a dynamic pricing system), tickets are not sold for all carriages in 45 days. If you came to buy a ticket a month in advance, and it is no longer there, then check the availability of tickets 10 days, a week, five days, three days and a day before the train leaves. The picture will be different.

The last time the sale of multiple seats on each train opens is two hours before the train leaves the terminal station.

We, of course, did not talk about all the discounts, but we tried to mention the main and most popular ones. Information about all discounts can be found in the section "Passengers" on the Russian Railways website or on numerous railway forums.

What to do if money is running out and you really want to go on a trip?

For some trains, tickets in a compartment can be taken almost at the price of a reserved seat

Were you going to go to your relatives or on an excursion on the May holidays, but the crisis confused your plans, and it’s just a pity to spend the last money on tickets? Do not despair! The trip can be cheaper than you think! Proceed like this:

Guess the departure date. Depending on it, a ticket for the same train will cost less or, conversely, more expensive than the fare. It doesn't matter when you buy it - a month or just a couple of days before departure. The cheapest trip will be on May 8 and 9, tickets for these days are generally given at half price. But, for example, it is unprofitable to plan a departure on May 5, tickets will cost more than the fare. The reserved seat - by 5%, and the coupe by as much as 15%. How the prices will change for other dates, check at the box office or look at the website www.pass.rzd.ru in the section "Tariffs". If you need a ticket for the exact date when tickets are expensive:

Pay attention to daytime trains and take seating. It turns out much cheaper! In addition, sometimes you can get a tangible gain in time! For example, from Moscow to Bryansk in a reserved seat carriage of the "night" train, you will get for 1299 rubles. and the trip will take 6 hours. And if you take a ticket for a seat on the day train, spend 476 rubles. Saving more than 2 times! By the way, you will get there faster by this train - in 4 hours. 15 minutes. If the road is long and you want to get there, though cheaper, but with maximum comfort: Plan your trip in advance and take a ticket in a compartment 45 days before departure.

The principle applies here - the earlier you buy, the cheaper it will turn out! This is called dynamic pricing. For those who purchase them 45-40 days before the trip, discounts up to 40% are available. But if you decide to travel in less than 15 days, the price goes up by 5-10%. For example, a ticket in a compartment from St. Petersburg to Nizhny Novgorod will cost 2,046 rubles, and for the same train, but if you buy it a few days before departure, you will have to pay 3,017 rubles. However, dynamic pricing does not apply to all trains. Check with the railway ticket office or on the website. If none of the above methods worked for you:

Follow the discounts and promotions! For example, now there is a 20% discount on some trains from Moscow to Volgograd, Penza, Cheboksary, Stary Oskol and back when buying a reserved seat ticket. And if you take exactly the upper side seat, you will save 40% of the tariff.

You don't run into the cashier with questions, so it's best to keep track of the situation on the website www.pass.rzd.ru in the sections "Special rates" and "News".

By the way! Catch ticket sales arranged by Russian Railways. Then there is a chance to leave for half the price. Look for information on the company's website www.rzd.ru

How the price of tickets changes throughout the year

The cost of train tickets varies considerably throughout the year. It depends on the date of the trip. And the difference of just one day can significantly affect the fare. And not for the better. And if you buy several tickets at once, it will seriously hit your pocket. Therefore, when planning a vacation, try to take into account seasonal changes in the cost of train tickets. And keep in mind that the most expensive journey will be from July 13 to September 2. And the cheapest summer can be travel from 13 to 28 June (all price fluctuations - see the table below!)
