Hotel or apartment for rent: what to choose? Is it better to rent a hotel or an apartment? Rent an apartment or a hotel room

Hello, my name is Alexei and I have not lived in hotels for 4 years. Unless only in extreme cases, when there is no choice or the inviting party provides it. Arriving in any city, I just rent a cool apartment in the very center and go for a walk. But it wasn't like that before.

I was looking for a hotel in the heart of the city, went nuts on the price of the room per night and booked an 8 sq.m. on the outskirts. And this continued until I started renting apartments for rent. She slept one, then another. And then there was no stopping me. Four years of exciting trips flew by as one in rented apartments. I had a lot of them and they were all different: beautiful, scary, with large and small rooms, new, old, on the first floor, on the last, in Arzamas, in Nizhny, in Kazan, in Budapest, in Tbilisi, in Yaroslavl, in Vologda, in Moscow, in Perm, in Minsk, in Brest, in Ryazan, in Prague, in Budva, in Arkhangelsk, in Yoshkar-Ola and other cities whose names I don’t even remember.

Even 4 years ago, I had only one, but persistent association with an apartment for rent - a gadyushnik. I must say right away that in some cases, unfortunately, this is the case. If you rent an apartment on an ad in a newspaper or at a bus stop, then in 90% of cases you will remove the gadyushnik. To avoid this and generally stop being afraid of rented apartments, I will tell you how to do it correctly. And why apartments are better and more profitable than hotels.

1. Room area

The first reason why you should prefer a daily apartment to a hotel is the living space. For the same price, in the case of a hotel, you will receive a one-room suite that can fit a couple of beds, bedside tables, a table and a TV. A whole apartment with two and three rooms is different! Regardless of the number of beds, the apartment is fully rented. If you want space - shoot "three rubles" and run on it. Traveling with a large company - rent a three-ruble note and sit all night at one large table in the kitchen!

2. Price

The cost of housing is directly related to its capacity. Probably all of you are aware of the difference in prices for single, double, triple and quadruple rooms in hotels. The last two types are generally rarely found in free form and your large company or family is offered to break up into free "kopeck pieces" and "odnushki", which can significantly hit your wallet. The cost of renting a large apartment does not differ much from the cost of a small one. From my own experience, the average price of a spacious and comfortable "kopeck piece" for 4-6 beds in Russia jumps around 2000-3000 rubles per day. Dividing this by the number of residents, we get 500 rubles per person.

500 rubles is the most low price for a bed in run-down hotels like these:

And everywhere this magic figure is 500 rubles per bed-night. Russian tariff, however. For example, here are the hotels in the same Nizhny Novgorod.

For comparison, I will give several apartments for the same price:

One-bedroom apartment on Tverskaya street, 5A v Nizhny Novgorod... For 2550 rubles per day. 4 berths.

One-bedroom apartment at 6 Volkova Street in Yaroslavl. For 1900 rubles a day. 4 berths.

3. Location

As I wrote before, I like to stay as close to the city center as possible. When I come to another city, I'm usually very tired by car. After a long road, you want to run out from behind the wheel, lock it and no longer approach it until the morning. After that, walk to the river or the sea, sit with light alcohol in a cafe and then crawl to bed half asleep. Hotels in this location usually have big, beautiful names and cost a lot of money. And from hotels in a more modest way to the city center you already have to get to public transport... Taxi, of course, is also an option, but why?

Why, if there are a lot of apartments for rent in the city center? People specifically buy apartments in the center not to live in them, sniffing exhaust gases and listening to the "roar of the cosmodrome", but to rent them out. For the same 2-3 thousand, you can rent a wonderful apartment on the top floor of a high-rise building, with a wonderful view of the river, mountains, park or sea. For example, as in Naberezhnye Chelny (albeit not quite the center).

4. Choice

How many hotels can there be in a city? On average, a couple dozen. In a small one - one or two. And there are hundreds of apartments. There is always a choice. One is busy - the other is free. I didn't like one - they chose another. Using special services for renting apartments, you can generally choose apartments on the city map, given the proximity to the sea, a river, a promenade, a pub or a monument to Lenin.
Than larger city, the more offers for daily rent of apartments, the higher the competition, the more adequate and stable prices. Paradox, but in a large and beautiful citywhere there is something to see, the prices for apartments are lower than in the half-living Russian outback. For example, in Vyazma, apparently, there is only one landlord who owns all 5 rented apartments presented on the Sutochno.ru service :) Accordingly, low quality and high cost.

But what kind of two-room apartment we rented last year in Perm for 2000 rubles:

We were even photographed for the section "Our Dear Guests" :)

5. Living environment

I have not come across a single hotel with a washing machine and iron in the room. If you need to wash, order a laundry service for a fee. In many daily apartments, it is normal to have a complete set of household appliances: washing machines, hair dryers, irons, boards, microwave ovens, huge refrigerators, ovens, hobs, and air condos. In one fancy three-room apartment in Minsk, on Skryganova Street, 4B, in each of the three rooms there was one large LCD panel, and a fourth flat TV was hanging in the kitchen. Too bad the bathroom wasn't there. Otherwise, it would be convenient to watch from the hydromassage. We paid 3,500 rubles for it and celebrated the birthday of our youngest traveler :)

A small and mid-budget hotel will, at best, have a TV, hairdryer and a small refrigerator.

6. Immersion in the atmosphere and local flavor

Living in a city in a hotel is like swimming in seaside resort in the pool, two steps away from the sea. If you want to smell the real life of a new city for you, find out what the locals breathe and what they eat - rent an apartment in a residential area. Walk to the local "Magnet", stock up on local beer, local sausage, sour cream, milk, taste fresh local pastries. Oh, what a wonderful and cheap oil in Vologda! In Ulyanovsk, it is 3 times more expensive and we don't buy it here. In Prague, right under the apartment there was a shop with absinthe, in Arzamas there was a New Year tree in the courtyard and residents played a round dance there, in Ryazan from the window you could see the railway station, past which I drove a hundred times on the Ulyanovsk-Moscow route, in Tbilisi there was the classic courtyard of the old city with linens and curious neighbors, and in Livadia there was a garage under the apartment where I parked my car. An indescribable delight in the taste of local life! From the very first turn of the key in the keyhole, you start to feel like a local resident :)

2-room apartment in Minsk on Yesenina, 16. For 2100 rubles per day. An excellent example of the ideality of a rented apartment and the responsiveness of the hostess.

7. Nutrition

Renting an apartment can save you a lot on food by buying groceries at the nearest supermarket and preparing your own food on the stove.

1-room apartment in Smolensk on Normandy-Neman street, 7A. For 1800 rubles per day for 4 guests.

2-room apartment in Minsk on Yesenina, 16. For 2100 rubles per day.

8. Nice little things

Some apartment owners have already begun to adopt some of the usual things for hotels. For example, a minibar in the refrigerator. You check in late at night and you don't need to run anywhere for beer and chips - everything is on the shelves. Disposable slippers and hygiene kits are nothing new.

"Full stuffing" in the bathroom of an apartment in Nizhny Novgorod, for 3000 rubles. per day.

Or towels figuratively laid on the bed. A trifle, but nice.

One-bedroom apartment with a living room in Vologda, on Leningradskaya, 136. For 3000 rubles. per day.

How cool everything is! Tomorrow we will leave for the sea and now we will only stay in apartments!

But don't rush ... There are a couple of little things you should be prepared for:

Disadvantages and nuances

1. The first one, from which there is no escape - cleaning... More precisely, its absence. The daily rented apartment is usually cleaned 2 times: before your arrival and after. If you plan to stay there at long termthen the cleaning is yours. But, as a rule, in such apartments they do not live longer than a week, and most often - a day or two.

Bathrooms in Minsk and Nizhny Novgorod apartments for 2,000 and 3,000 rubles, respectively.

2. The second trifle is not a trifle at all, but a significant nuance that is quite common in Russia - bad faith of landlords... Especially Kazan.

It consists in the fact that by booking in advance you do not get a guarantee that you will be accommodated in it. Kazan apartment owners love to "please" you with the news that your apartment has not been vacated yet, but you will now be offered an equivalent or even better option for the same price. And they bring them to a homeless man on the outskirts. This happened to me several times, and it was in Kazan. Even a full prepayment may not help.

How to deal with this?

The market for daily rent of apartments in Russia is slowly but surely becoming civilized. The educator in this case is all kinds of services for the selection of apartments. You can choose and book an apartment abroad on airbnb.com, where both the tenant and the landlord try to maintain and enhance their reputation. Russia also has a similar service - Sutochno.ru... It has about 80,000 apartments all over Russia, neighboring countries and even Montenegro.

How does he work:

  • Set the city and search filter by dates and number of residents.

  • From the search results, using sorting by price, reviews or by map, choose an apartment.

  • Read the reviews of previous guests.

  • Press the booking button, contact the owner on the site and make an advance payment, which remains with the service.

  • You come to the apartment, check in and live.

  • You are leaving, not forgetting to leave a review on the service website for future travelers :)

In case something does not suit you upon check-in, you cancel your reservation through the mobile application or by calling the "Sutochno.ru" hotline and then:

  • The prepayment is returned to you.

  • The landlord receives a fine and negative review, which lowers him in the search.

  • Sutochno.ru support helps you quickly find another option. I was in their office - there are always a lot of people on their phones.

If in doubt, then everything is described in detail. In general, the guys are fighting with such cunning landlords. The stronger the authority of the service, the more unscrupulous landlords will value their reputation. AirBnB has already brought up its own - you will not be spoiled there: just a little, and get out of the profession.

One-bedroom apartment with a living room in Vologda, on Leningradskaya, 136. For 3000 rubles. per day.

And one more rule that should be observed when using such services for daily rent of apartments: never contact the landlord directly, bypassing the service. Otherwise, if you are thrown, then no one will help you. Keep a history of correspondence and transfer the prepayment through a service that will act as a third party in the dispute. If the landlord does not respond to the booking request for a long time, just forget about this apartment and do not call the landlord by direct phone. There is a high probability that such an owner will provide you with another apartment of a worse quality upon arrival and you will not prove anything. And always read the reviews :)

Enjoy your travels and beautiful apartments!

Many people who come to another city have a question about where they can change for a couple of days. Some people prefer not to bother, but just go to the nearest hotel and rent a room. Others, on the contrary, prefer to rent an apartment for a day in a hotel. Each of these options, of course, has its positive and negative sides. Therefore, in order to figure out which is still better, a hotel room or an apartment for a day, it is worth considering the most obvious pros and cons of both options.

The benefits of staying in a hotel room.

1. Some people prefer to shoot hotel rooms only because it gives the settler a solid status. Especially if a person chooses a very expensive hotel or hotel. So, if you want to describe yourself as a serious and respectable person, then a hotel for a day will be the best choice.
2. In respectable hotels, clients are offered comfortable living conditions, for example, such as a swimming pool, a luxurious restaurant, entertainment clubs, gyms, etc. However, it may not be affordable for an ordinary person to stay in such a hotel. Such a luxury, even for one day, can be afforded to wealthy persons.
3. Any hotel is equipped with a security system, which includes, in particular, video surveillance. For some, the reliability of staying in a room is a priority, but for others, on the contrary, being in front of observers is considered completely uncomfortable. In any case, in modern hotels there is always security, an access system and reliable security systems.
4. The same must be said about the fact that advanced hotel, which cares about its reputation and the comfort of its customers, has special centers where you can use a computer, the Internet and other similar services.
5. Also, when checking into a hotel, a person will no longer need to think about where to eat deliciously. After all, any hotel has its own kitchen with professional chefs. So, restaurants and cafes are an integral part of a modern hotel.

A few words about the disadvantages of checking into a hotel room.

1. The most important drawback, perhaps, is the rather high cost of rooms in hotels, and often they simply may not be enough. We have to go and look for a hotel where we could finally rent a room for a day. Some do it trickier - in advance. However, not everyone has such an opportunity. So, sometimes, renting an apartment for a day is more profitable financially and much faster.
2. It cannot be said that in a hotel a person will be able to retire and receive the expected confidentiality. After all, this is, in fact, in addition to a personal number, a public place (hall, restaurant, etc.), so there will always be a huge number of strangers around.
3. If the room is planned to be rented for the purpose of conducting business negotiations, then some difficulties may arise here, since it will be extremely problematic to arrange a high-level meeting with snacks or even tea.
4. Each hotel has its own rules, therefore there are restrictions that apply to the guests of the hotel client - they can stay in the room, as a rule, no longer than until 23:00. Moreover, since the hotels have a pass system, not a single guest will be allowed in until his identity (passport, driver's license and other similar documents) is verified.
5. The rooms do not have the required number of household appliances that may be needed at any time (washing machine, stove, etc.). The hotel guest has to solve these questions independently.

The advantages of renting an apartment by the day.

1. Affordability of housing. Now a huge number of companies in a matter of minutes will help to find a person exactly here an apartment that will suit him in terms of location, number of rooms, price issue, etc. that is, the choice of rental housing is enormous.
2. Renting an apartment for a day is much cheaper than renting a hotel room. Cost savings.
3. You can feel much more comfortable in an apartment than in a standard one. hotel room... There is everything for a normal life: home appliances, telephone, internet and other amenities.
4. A person who has settled in a rented apartment can receive guests at any time without any restrictions. Such a room will not work in a hotel.
5. You can choose any apartment for rent in any convenient area of \u200b\u200bthe city.

Disadvantages of renting an apartment for a day.

1. Renting apartments does not have the same security system as hotels. Although, of course, there are houses equipped with video surveillance. However, the cost of renting in guarded houses will be higher.
2. In rented housing you have to serve yourself on your own: cooking, cleaning, etc.
3. If a visiting guest has a car, then it will be extremely problematic to find parking nearby the rented apartment, while each hotel has its own personal parking.

Our subscriber wrote a note on Instagram about what to choose on a trip: an apartment or a hotel. In our opinion, the arguments for both options are meaningful. We publish the entire post with permission.

A post was born based on the question I was asked. I prefer to stay in apartments rather than hotels. Although it happens in different ways. I wrote about the advantages of apartments and hotels for me.

  1. Saving. Renting an apartment is often cheaper than a hotel room. Especially if you are traveling with a group of friends. It would be more economically profitable to rent an apartment with several rooms and live together, and in the evening to get together, discuss the day and drink tea. Find an apartment with good location by favorable price easier than a hotel in the same area.
  2. Food. When traveling for a long time, you can cook your own food. And if there are dietary habits or children, then in general paradise. Cook yourself at least buckwheat, at least millet, at least steaks. You control your time yourself: you don't have to get up and run for breakfast from 7 to 9. Even in hotels, there are often only rolls and sausages for breakfast, but I like to eat porridge in the morning. And not every hotel has a kettle in the room.
  3. Personal space... The whole apartment is at your disposal. Dozens of people do not pass under your door every minute, the maids do not wake up in the morning and you have breakfast in a relaxed atmosphere in pajamas and under YouTube, for example.
  4. Household amenities... Washer! Often in apartments there are coffee machines, irons, some little things that may suddenly be needed. The apartment rented in Prague had everything you might need, right down to a hair iron and nail polish remover.
  5. Interior... The choice of apartments is often greater than that of hotels. Each owner wants to stand out and makes his apartment in something more attractive. It can be a real loft, an authentic apartment, an apartment in some unusual room, with a terrace, access to the roof, etc. Hotel rooms are almost all standardized.
  6. The opportunity to feel like not a guest, but a resident of the city... It is a very fun culture learning experience new country... There are more impressions from living in an apartment than from living in a hotel. You can make friends with the landlords or nice local neighbors who will talk about secret places "For their own".

In what cases are hotels better:

  1. If you only need to stay for 1 night, it is better to take a hotel.
  2. If you are arriving late or closer to night, take a hotel. The administrator usually works there around the clock. The apartment may be difficult to check in at a later time, discuss this issue in advance.
  3. It is better to rent a hotel if you are going to some specific place, for example, a resort with thermal springs... In such places, hotels usually have some kind of bonuses, such as their source, spa or some kind of transfer, etc. There will be no such bonuses in the apartment.

Apartments for rent or a hotel room?

Some people who come to the capital of Russia on business or to visit relatives face a significant problem. We are talking about the need to find housing for a short period. At the same time, keeping in mind the capital prices for renting real estate, one should approach the solution of the above-mentioned issue extremely carefully.
The most rational options are to rent an apartment or rent an inexpensive hotel in Moscow. Each of these layouts has certain advantages that must be fully taken into account.

Let's consider each of the options presented above in terms of their advantages and disadvantages:

1. Daily rent apartments. For the price, this method of renting housing is approximately the same as the cost of renting a room in an average Moscow hotel. In simple terms, renting an apartment for a few days is a rather expensive pleasure. At the same time, the very fact of negotiations can drag on for a long time, because the owners of such real estate or persons authorized by them are in no hurry to provide their property to strangers.
Another disadvantage of a rented apartment is the possible presence of noisy neighbors. But even if everything is quiet and calm, then you should not forget about the need for self-cooking or wasting time looking for nearby cafes and restaurants.
Among the advantages of renting an apartment, one should highlight the ability to isolate oneself from the whole world behind locked doors, as well as the unhindered invitation of any number of friends or colleagues (however, some apartment owners even prohibit this).

2. Inexpensive. Of course, the pricing policy of the capital's hotels has significant differences, but if you don't chase after elite hotels, but pay attention, first of all, to the combination of price and quality, then the available choice can pleasantly amaze you with an abundance of options, as well as a really low price of daily rent.
This is especially true if you can rent a room with another person - a colleague, friend or relative. Moscow hotels near the metro have a lot of advantages. Firstly, it is the polite and attentive staff of the institutions. Secondly, the availability of institutions within walking distance catering - from humble dining rooms to fashionable restaurants... Thirdly, the presence of guards, which guarantees the safety of accommodation of guests, as well as the storage of their property. And the cost of such services is more than democratic. All this is quite real. Especially if you approach the choice of a hotel properly, using special online services.

Inexpensive hotel Moscow - this is the best option for any guest of the capital, and this fact is beyond doubt.

Of many people going to tourist trip or just to friends in another city, worried about which is better: a hotel or an apartment for rent, where is it more convenient and cheaper to stay for a while? Let's weigh the pros and cons in favor of a suitable option.

Renting a hotel for rent: pros and cons

So, let's consider the advantages of hotel accommodation, compared to temporary accommodation with a private owner:

  • safety and security of personal belongings - hotels are guarded and monitored;
  • availability of special places for daily parking;
  • no worries about cooking - cafes and restaurants work in hotels;
  • equipping hotel rooms with amenities: coziness, comfort and order, followed by the hotel staff, trouble-free internet connection in the room;
  • a wide range of services (breakfast in the room, etc.)
  • business centers with a stationary computer and high-speed Internet required for a business trip;
  • amateurs active rest - fitness and entertainment centers, beauty salons - for those who want to put themselves in order.

The disadvantage of hotels is the frequent intersection with strangers living in the same building. But you can choose to rent a room in a mini-hotel. Some are expensive and the quality of service does not always meet customer expectations. Therefore, you need to choose a place to stay for daily rent carefully, based on reviews.

Pros and cons of renting an apartment for rent

Will an apartment or room be more profitable? Daily rent of an apartment - a good choice for those who want to save money. You can rent a one-room apartment for several people, the number of places does not affect the cost. Another advantage is that you can choose a convenient area for temporary residence.

But the comfort and order in the apartment will have to be maintained independently. And this is not the main drawback. Other negative points:

  • lack of high security in apartments, the owners are not responsible for the safety of things;
  • difficulty with parking, especially if the house is located in the city center.
  • it is beneficial for apartment owners to rent a place not for a day, but for a long time. Therefore, finding a suitable home for a short period is difficult. It is easier to find a hotel for a day to live. Alternatively, rent an apartment.

Going on a trip for work or leisure, it is better to choose accommodation with amenities and quality service. If you are in Moscow, book a room at the Key Element Hotel: the prices are optimal, comfort is high. You can find out the full information on the website.
