Rest in Austria lakes is the best way to relax. We are going to the lakes of Austria - the subtleties of rest in the fashionable resorts of Europe. Restaurants: fish and schnapps

Good afternoon, today I will tell you what it consists of and how much a trip to Austria costs. About how much you can count on when planning your travel budget and how you can reduce costs. I will show our budget report (you can see the route). Based on our report, you can calculate your budget and plan your trip.

Any trip consists of costs:

 • for air ticket
 • to pay for housing
 • to buy a visa to the country
 • for insurance
 • for food
 • on excursions and entertainment
 • car rent

The first thing to remember is that in large countries there are several airports. That airports are located in different cities. That the cost of air tickets in Austria by city can be very different.

Much depends on the season, the time of purchase (the earlier you buy, the cheaper the ticket will be). I am showing a screen of prices for mid-April 2020.

Here are the major cities of Austria, which have airports: Vienna, Salzburg, Graz, Innsbruck, Linz, Klagenfurt.

Here's a screenshot where you can see the price difference:

As you can see, the most favorable ticket for the price - this is an air ticket to Vienna, from 106 € in both directions.

True, not all cities on this list can be reached from Russia by direct flight. It will be faster and easier to get to Vienna with a direct flight of Austrian Airlines. To other cities there are flights with transfers in Berlin, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Helsinki and other European cities.

This is important information for us. If desired, we can choose a flight with a long transfer (+ 1 day), get off at the airport, see another city, and then continue our journey.

Important : Sometimes airlines offer ticket sales or discounts. To buy a profitable and convenient ticket you need monitor offers... Whenever you see good things, check the terms and conditions and buy right away. Such offers fly off instantly.

How much does a visa cost

Austria is a member of the Schengen Union. For us (Russians), this means that the purchase of a visa is mandatory. To obtain a visa to Austria, you need to submit the correct documents.

note: many companies offer visa processing services. This means you give them everything. required documents, take them to the visa center, and they undertake to deliver the documents to you. This service may cost 5 or 6 thousand rubles. At the same time, you must understand that you yourself prepare, collect, deliver and correctly draw up documents. They tell you the requirements. And the requirements are clearly stated on the official websites of visa centers.

Those. in fact, you pay for the delivery of documents from the visa center. Whether it is worth doing it is up to you.

It costs 35 € to independently apply for a visa to Austria, plus a service fee of 20 €. Passport expiration date must be at least 6 months.

One of the rules for obtaining a visa implies that you must have a certain amount of funds (money) in your account. Many countries indicate this amount in their visa requirements. In some countries, a clear amount is not specified.

But the calculation is something like this: 50 - 65 euros for each day of stay in the country. The statement from your bank account shows the degree of your financial security.

When calculating your travel budget, you should consider that this is the “average daily rate”. You can spend more, or you can cut costs and meet in less money. Nobody can force you to spend 50 euros a day)

The Austrian Visa Service Center in Moscow is located at Dubininskaya 35. There are also visa centers in Kazan, Krasnodar, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Samara, Rosto-on-Don, Krasnoyarsk and others large cities Russia. The entire list can be viewed at website Visa Application Center of Austria.

Important news: From September 14, 2015, Russians will be required to be present when applying for a visa in person to provide biometric data (fingerprints and digital photos). This applies to tourists who request short-term visas for up to 90 days in half a year. You only need to submit biometric data once. After that, your prints will be stored in the database.

How much does it cost to stay

In Austria, as in other European countries, there is a huge selection of housing. Bed in an eight-bed room in a hostel, single or double Room in hotels of 2-5 stars, apartments and apartments with kitchens, suites with a swimming pool. All this is there. Choose according to your budget. The service for booking accommodation will help you with this. roomguru... We use this service.

Vienna has a well-developed metro and other types of public transport, so you don't have to bother looking for housing in the very center of the capital. You can find options in other areas. Vienna's main sights can be reached in 15 minutes. The cost of the metro will be cheaper than living in the center. We stayed at the hotel Sommerhotel Wieden... It was convenient to get from him to. Train Station Wien Hauptbahnhof is 5 minutes' walk away.

By the way, you can find very advantageous offers in the center too. Basically, they are from "private traders" - people involved in their own microbusiness. As a rule, this is not a hotel, but a room in a local resident's apartment or a separate room in a house.

There are such offers on the service AirBnbwe are in recent times we often use it and have not yet encountered any drawbacks. We find options cheaper than hotels. For example, in Vienna there are offers for 35-40 € an apartment with an entire kitchen. Agree, it's better than a hotel room. The amount of accommodation is divided into two - this is also beneficial. You don't have to change your daily routine (to be in time for breakfast). And we buy groceries in the store, and eat the same fruits, scrambled eggs, coffee, cheese for breakfast only much cheaper than in a hotel. Your own kitchen is a convenient solution for people with stomach diseases and digestive disorders - you can eat familiar food, carefully adding something new to the diet.

Friends, now we are in Telegram: our channel about Europe, our channel about Asia... Welcome)

How much does food cost

If you are in Austria, be sure to try the national cuisine. And this is a huge selection of pies - the most famous apple pie Strudel, delicious stews and fish, potato casseroles, dumplings and much more. We especially recommend trying the famous Wiener Schnitzel. As for drinks, we advise you to try Austrian wines - there are many of them in the country and they are varied in taste.

Austrian coffee houses. In our opinion, they are a must-see. Sipping on one of 30 coffees with Viennese strudel is not to be missed.

Try all these delights national cuisine the restaurant will not be cheap for russian tourist to date. Unfortunately, the euro is not getting cheaper.

A portion in a restaurant, as a rule, is large (not like in Moscow), they put what is called - "from the heart", so you can take one main course for two. If we took 2 portions out of greed, we asked them to wrap them with us. This is normal. Anything that you can't handle will be neatly folded into plastic wrap.

As an example, I consider the cost of a dinner for two at a restaurant:

 • Garnish: potato salad - 5-6 €. A large dish is brought. You can safely ask to bring you another clean plate and cutlery so that you can place one large serving in two plates.
 • Main dish: Viennese schnitzel - 12-15 € (as mentioned above, you can take a portion for two).
 • Dessert: strudel - 5 €.
 • Coffee 5-7 €.
 • Austrian wine - 2-3 € for a glass of 150 ml., Champagne is more expensive - about 4.5 €.

The result is 36 € for two. But it seems to me that Alla and I would not have been able to cope with all this in one dinner. Usually they took less. It was about 20-25 € for two.

We didn't go to restaurants every day. We usually had breakfast at the hotel, at lunch we had a burger or Viennese sausages on the street. It came out about 5 €.

In Graz we rented a room in an apartment. We had a kitchen. We went to the store and bought groceries there. Of course it came out much cheaper than restaurant prices.

Stores in Austria are open from 9.00 to 18.00 (18.30). Shops close one hour earlier on Saturdays.

Important: grocery stores are usually closed on Sunday. So take care of breakfast in the evening or go to the train station.

At train stations, shops are open daily from 7 am to 10:30 pm.

How much do excursions cost

Combined tickets are popular in Austria. With this ticket, you can see several attractions at once. For example, there are about 12 attractions on the territory of the Schönbrunn palace castle. At the box office you can buy a ticket for each of them, or you can buy a combined one. The second option is usually cheaper.

Examples of prices for attractions:

Vienna Zoo - 20 euros
Prater amusement park - 7 euros
Combined Belvedere ticket (lower and upper, Winter Palace, greenhouse, building 21) - 31 euros
Mozart House in Vienna - 10 euros
in Graz - 11.50 euros. Buy a day ticket to the Joanneum Museum for € 13. He gives the right to visit all parts of the museum within 24 hours
Hohenwerfen Castle - 11 euros.

If you want to get to know Austria better, learn its history, we recommend taking unusual excursions from local residents.

Better yet, get the Vienna Card. This is a travel and discount card at the same time. Designed specifically for tourists. With it you can buy entry tickets to the museum, castle, other attractions at a discount. Plus enjoy by public transport is free.

Detailed budget for our trip

We were in Austria for 8 days. This country was only part of our trip to Europe. In 27 days of the trip, we visited 4 countries: Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein. A detailed budget report is written in.

Budget of a trip to Austria for two (all prices are indicated for two):

Vienna - (3 nights) = 138 €
Graz - (2 nights) = 68 €
Salzburg - (3 nights) = 165 €

Tickets were bought through the Austrian railway website in advance (3-3.5 weeks in advance), so they got into discounts and promotions. On the day of the trip, they already cost 2 times more.

Vienna - Graz = 28 €
Graz - Salzburg = 38 €
Salzburg - Zurich = 158 €

In Vienna and Salzburg they bought tourist card cities for 3 days. Vienna Vienna Card 20 €, Salzburg Zalzburg Card 31 €. With these cards when visiting museums, etc. the economy came out decent. In Vienna, one and a half times, in Salzburg twice.

Total: for two people in 8 days including everything except trains booked and bought in advance (accommodation, food, maps, etc.) 708.23 € came out. 708.23 € + trains 224 € = 932 €.

Those. for one person - 466 €.

Conclusions:

 1. Traveling to Austria is quite expensive
 2. The “average rate of residence” per day meets the visa requirements (50 - 65 euros per day).
 3. We walked around the cities all day and saw quite a few sights, ate reasonably (we did not save on food, did not dine in expensive restaurants).
 4. If you are aiming at walking around the city (without sightseeing), then the trip will be cheaper.
 5. If you are not planning to travel to different cities, then deduct the cost of the train costs from our final cost.

Yours faithfully,

Water recreation helps to relax and restore inner balance. The best solution would be lakes, and if they are located in Austria - get ready for daily admiration of the natural beauty and unforgettable impressions.

We will tell you how to get to Austrian lakes, tell you about the most beautiful water bodies of this country, choose places to visit in summer and autumn. We also have to entertain the children who want to travel with us and study the issue of the cost of travel.

We get by train to the Austrian lakes

A train with a trailed direct car goes from Moscow to Vienna. The road is laid through Poland with the Czech Republic. There are also options with a transfer, but then you have to go through the territory of Hungary or Slovakia. You will spend at least 33 hours on the road.

There is also an option to travel through Germany and Poland, but knowledgeable people advise you to refrain from this route - it is too expensive.

Further directions will depend on the lake you have chosen. Here is a list of the most popular lakes in Austria:

 • Wolfgangsee,
 • Fuschl,
 • Zellersee,
 • Mondsee,
 • Klopeinersee,
 • Wörthersee,
 • Neusiedlersee.

For example, the Green Lake, located in the Styria region, is located near the town of Brück an der Mür. Trains from Graz and Vienna leave here every hour. Alternatively, you can come from Klagenfurt, Salzburg, Innsbruck and Linz. After arriving in Bruk, prepare for another 40 minutes by bus to Tragossa. It is easier to get to other lakes.

60 km from Salzburg is the Attersee lake - a very popular place for divers.
The water in the lake is crystal clear and drinkable.

Lakes in Austria in summer and September

Each Austrian lake is unique. These places are suitable for measured family vacationbut also connoisseurs water sports will find something to do with themselves.

There is a diving center on the shore of Green Lake.

Three of the most beautiful Austrian lakes

In this section, we have collected three of the most beautiful bodies of water in Austria. It was difficult to choose, since all the local lakes deserve attention. Go.

Diving on the Green Lake on video

In Lake Grunersee, surface and underwater life is surprisingly mixed. Take a look at this beauty, only mermaids are missing!

Where to go with children

It is quite safe to rest with children on the lakes. In addition, the Austrians have thought out a competent infrastructure and a system of events that can please little travelers.

Here's where to go first:

In general, the south of Carinthia is somewhat reminiscent of the Mediterranean region. The local resorts are distinguished by high-quality service, livability, developed children's infrastructure and an abundance of water activities.

Visit the Velden water playground and the Pertschach water trail, designed for those who like to walk barefoot.

Curious kids will also like the Minimundus Museum, the exposition of which consists of reduced copies of architectural masterpieces.

Lakes in Austria - the issue price

Since we are going to Austria by train on our own, we will calculate the cost of the trip based on this fact. Here we provide layouts for travel, food and accommodation, and you will lay the budget for entertainment yourself.

The train to Vienna costs about 5-6 thousand rubles (110 euros). And here are the approximate prices for travel around the country:

 • Vienna - Graz (second class) - 30 euros;
 • Vienna - Innsbruck (depending on the class) - 50-100 euros;
 • Vienna - Salzburg (1-2 class) - 47-80 euros.

Now about living. On Lake Wörthersee, you can stay in a three-four-star hotel. You will pay 35-45 euros per night. It will be a standard double room with a telephone, shower, balcony, TV and other benefits of European civilization.

Beach holidays, so beloved by many, are sometimes excluded from their program by families with small children. This is due to the reluctance of parents to expose the baby to the hardships of long flights and acclimatization.

Indeed, abrupt climate change is experienced by children in different ways; besides, some people, regardless of age, rest in hot countries is contraindicated. Meanwhile, recreation on the lakes can become an equivalent substitute for the sea coast.

Many European countries can boast of picturesque water bodies, but Austria is considered to be a real lake region - 1270 lakes, like jewels, adorn this country.

Carinthian lakes for families with children

The most famous among tourists with children are Austrian ski resorts, where skiers from all over the world come in winter, but for lovers of warmth there is a real surprise here: the climate of the south of Carinthia, one of the federal states of Austria, resembles the Mediterranean.

It is here that families with children come to relax: in Carinthia, there are more than 200 lakes suitable for swimming.

I am often asked the question, where, if not by the sea, to relax in the summer with children? Now I know for sure the answer to this question, so for those who are too lazy to read the entire article, I will answer in the very first lines of the material: so, if you are tired of noisy resorts on the sea and want country comfort, swimming in the cleanest lakes, walks in coniferous forests, and healing mountain air, which normalizes the sleep of even parents who are very tortured by the inevitable metropolitan stress, then great option for family holidays - the Austrian region of Carinthia.

But, before talking directly about the region, first of all, I will list the important points regarding the rest with children. First, even compared to neighboring Italy in Carinthia very safe, that is, the level of care that nothing happens to your child here is extremely high, and the crime rate is one of the lowest in Europe; as a telling example, only one fact - newspapers and magazines are sold here as follows: newspapers are simply placed in plastic bags on city poles, under them is a box with a price indication, you put the required amount into a transparent box, pick up the newspaper and go on about your business , in Italy, especially in the south, 10 minutes after the appearance of such a "kiosk", there would be no box or newspapers left on the street.

The second important point is excellent ecology, for example, another fact that is very indicative - the water in all local lakes is drinkable. The third important point is excellent infrastructure especially for family holidays: the vast majority of hotels have game rooms and playgrounds, and a children's menu is invariably present on the buffet.

On the picture: tourist complex Naturel village

Yes, which is important, many hotel complexes in Carinthia operate on an all-inclusive or HB basis, which is also extremely convenient if you are relaxing with little ones.

FIVE MAGIC LAKES OF THE REGION

Many Russians associate Austria with the winter ski vacation, but Carinthia in this sense is an exception to the rule, since the region is more focused on summer holidays on the lakes. As Tomas Michor (head of Region Villach Tourismus) told me, there are three times more tourists in Carinthia in summer than in winter.

In the photo: observing the beauty from the top of the Dobratsch Gipfelhaus

The fact is that the region is optimal for those who cannot stand the heat, and in summer there is no heat in the mountains, but, most importantly, Carinthia is not just mountains, it is lakes surrounded by the Alps. There are indeed a number of lakes here, unthinkable by the standards of a small region - one thousand two hundred, but the most famous are five.

In the photo: a view of the valley of lakes from the top of the Austrian Alps

The first is Wörthersee, azure lake, on the shore of which a full-fledged resort is arranged. It will appeal not only to parents who have decided to spend their summer holidays with children in Austria, but also to young people who love classic spa leisure. There are numerous bars on the shore of the lake serving local wine, beer and spritz hugo - a kind of spritz aperol, however, the wine in this case is diluted mineral water, where a leaf of fresh mint is added, and sometimes syrup (believe it!) from elderberry flowers. There are sun loungers on wooden flooring along the lake, discos are open right there and there is even a casino.

However, the main local attraction is baths Werzer's Badehaus... The fact is that the building of the bathhouse was built in 1895, and, although the last reconstruction of the building was carried out in the very recent past, more precisely, in 2013, it retained its historical appearance. The bath is equipped not only with the obligatory saunas and spas, but also with an outdoor heated pool, which automatically makes bathing possible at any time of the year.

Pictured: Werzer's Badehaus Baths, photo courtesy of the council

However, in summer you will hardly need a heated pool, as the water in Wörthersee warms up to 26 degrees. Other popular local activities include stand-up paddle surfing for active vacationers and motorboat rides for those who prefer to relax and dreamily contemplate the blue expanse of the lake surrounded by majestic mountains. By the way, the nature of Carinthia really tunes in to the poetic perception of the world in full, it is not for nothing that such famous composers as Brahms and Mahler loved to create in the vicinity of Wörthersee. Yes, as I wrote above, the water in all Carinthian lakes is drinkable, so swimming here is a real pleasure.

Photo: cafe on the shore of Lake Wörthersee

The second famous resort in Carinthia is located on the shores of the lake; this place is worth considering for those who are keen on fitness tours. The fact is that there is a center with the self-explanatory name "Carinthian Lake Fitness", which is free for all guests of the region. The center's trainers offer swimming lessons, hiking and cycling tours in the area, and other rewarding activities.

Lake Faaker See - a favorite place to relax with kids. On its shore is located in which we lived during a trip to Carinthia.

In the photo: azure lake Lake Faker See

The Naturel Village is arranged according to the type of Alpine-style villages: cozy wooden houses, each room has an adult and children's bedroom, a kitchen, a living room and a balcony on which it is so pleasant to while away the evenings, watching the pink-cheeked moon float out from the mountain peaks.

The complex has two restaurants and a bar, a swimming pool with a spa center and several playgrounds are located nearby, where kids play under the supervision of educators while their parents relax in a summer cafe. As far as food is concerned, in Naturel Village you can take all-inclusive and half board accommodation, you will not be disappointed in both cases.

Photo: restaurant in Naturel Village

The buffet here is excellent, for breakfast they invariably serve fresh pastries, local cheeses and the famous Austrian apple juice, for dinner - fish from Lake Faaker See, which is prepared in the most incredible ways, I was personally very impressed by trout baked in bacon. For younger guests of the hotel, of course, there is a children's table.

Photo: Naturel Village was built in the forest

The complex is located in a real forest, for example, we even had a nest with chicks on our balcony, and in the territory of Naturel Village there is a “living corner” where goats and rabbits live, in a word, a kind of ideal village village, just like in the film "Dirty Dancing", remember, there, in a similar village, handsome Patrick Swayze gave dancing lessons to vacationers?

In the photo: there was a nest with chicks on the balcony of our house

The main feature of Naturel Village is serenity and sweetness, here you involuntarily get imbued with the idea that you need to look for happiness in the little things, and if you don't fixate on the problems, they will disperse by themselves, like morning fog over a lake.

Photo: in Naturel Village go to bed early

By the way, about the lake, Faaker See is also called a turquoise or azure lake because of the unique color of the water, a popular leisure activity besides swimming and walking on catamarans is hiking through the local coniferous forests; and canoeing tours through the marshlands, of course accompanied by guides.

Photo: walking paths around Faaker See

The cost of living in Naturel Village: from 80 to 120 euros (for a room for four), link to the official website of the complex:.

In the photo: while walking in the vicinity of Faaker Seeconstantly
you meet now rabbits, now hedgehogs, now grazing goats nearby

A worthy alternative to Naturel Village located on Faaker See - resorts weissensee lakes... The peculiarity of the Weissensee is that, despite the fact that the lake is located very high in the Alps, the water in it warms up to 22 degrees. For children, in addition to swimming, other leisure options are provided, for example, rafting or visiting national park Robert Röble, where kids can go on an underwater excursion with the ranger.

Another lake, on the shore of which lovers of everything active and sports should stay, is where, among other things, music Festival "Carinthian Summer". Since free winds invariably blow in this area, Ozziaher See is popular among windsurfers, paragliders train on the neighboring Gerlitzen mountain range, and cyclists master local bike trails, which are about 27 kilometers long. In short, a lake for those who consider summer vacation, as another opportunity to do sports from the heart.

The last lake in today's review is Millstatter See, not only young parents will like it here, but also couples in love, or young parents who want to feel like they have just fallen in love again. The fact is that the lake is surrounded by romantic bays, from the wooden decks of which it is so pleasant to dive into warm water, plus there is a swimming pool with saunas and massages on the shore of the lake, and besides, at dawn, boat trips are often arranged here so that guests can admire , like the morning fog, at first gently, like a veil, caresses the blue surface of the lake, and then dissipates without a trace under the transparent, pink rays of the rising sun.

WHAT TO SEE AND WHAT TO DO IN CARINTHIA?

Perhaps this does not sound entirely correct, but, in my opinion, during a vacation in Karitnia, you should not specially travel around Austrian towns in search of attractions. While on vacation in this region of the country, it is better to recall Vysotsky's words about the "guy in the mountains of pull" and go one by one hiking routes - conquer mountain peaks.

In the photo: a walk in the Alps, on the observation deck

Immediately I hasten to reassure the alarmists and non-sporting ones: for hiking tours, special training and special uniforms are not needed, it is quite enough to get trekking boots, comfortable sportswear and a backpack. There are many routes for hiking in Caritinia, maps with detailed descriptions You can get them at any hotel in the region, they are issued here, like city maps in Rome or Paris - each tourist has one in hand. Personally, during a trip to the region, I hiked the Dobratsch Gipfelhaus ski peak, also known for the fact that at its foot is the Garden of Alpine Herbs, and at the very top of the mountain, at an altitude of 2,143 meters above sea level, a church was erected.

In the photo: the church at the top of the Dobratsch Gipfelhaus

I must warn you, climbing the mountains is not fun for the faint in spirit and tender in body. Even if the process takes only 1.5 hours, during this time the muscles of the whole body receive such a complex load that you understand that regular exercise in the gym is not a universal way to develop endurance. But when you find yourself on the top of the mountain, you settle in a local restaurant serving delicious sausages, and you begin to admire the views of the neighboring mountains opening from the top, you are overwhelmed by a feeling of delight, mixed with the feeling of victory over yourself.

In the photo: the Austrian Alps are beautiful

You already enjoy the beauty of the Alpine meadows on the descent and the next day, in all seriousness, you think: “Should I repeat the experience of climbing?”, Somehow you don’t pay attention to the fact that your muscles are still aching after yesterday’s.

If you are not ready for hiking, but the mountains still beckon and call you, then you can get to the peaks with the help of funiculars, of which there are many in Carinthia. The most famous cable cars - Bergbahnen and Mayrhofner. Another option for a relaxed program is boat cruises on the lakes of the region or along the river to the town of Villach.

In the photo: these are the views that open up during a cruise on the river

Restaurants are open on the boats, so during the trip you simply sip wine or beer, observe the life and existence of families of swans nesting in the reeds, and at the same time remember the song from the movie “Three in a boat, not counting a dog” about “a gentle, quiet and kind river ".

In the photo: a street with numerous umbrellas in the center of Klagenfurt

If you are drawn to cities from the natural beauty, then you can look into the towns of Villach and Klagenfurt for a day. Both are small, cute, as they say, gingerbread. It makes sense to walk around the center, eat a strudel or a sacher cake in a local cafe and, of course, go shopping, the fact is that luxury class clothes and shoes are cheaper in Austria than even in neighboring Italy.

In the photo: a fountain in the form of a brewer in the center of Klagenfurt

Well, for lovers of castles and the dark Middle Ages, I recommend going up to the Finkenstein mountainous region, where the famous Hochosterwitz castle flaunts on the top of a hundred and fifty meter cliff. Although the first mentions of the fortress date back to 860 AD, the current castle building dates back to the sixteenth century. By the way, the castle in those days was not just a fortification or home of a wealthy landowner, but a city in miniature, as you can easily see when walking along Hochosterwitz.

In the photo: Hochosterwitz castle at the top of the cliff

Once residential buildings are hidden behind the fortress walls, museums and a restaurant are located right there, and in Gochosterwitz reenactors often arrange historical shows, plus music festivals from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance are also held here.

CARINTHIA KITCHEN: WHAT TO TRY?

Undoubtedly, the main gastronomic specialty of the region is lake fish, more precisely, the Carinthian "Laxne" - a local type of trout. It is prepared in a variety of ways: from simply roasted on a grill or baked in foil to options with herbs from alpine meadows. What is especially pleasant is that the fish in Carinthian restaurants is served exactly from the lake on the shore of which you decided to dine. Among the gourmet places I would like to advise coastal area Lake Wörthersee: All 27 restaurants on the shore are rated by Gault Millau, and therefore the quality of the food here is above the "excellent" mark.

For drinks we recommend discovering Austrian wines. The fact is that Carinthia borders on the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, which is known for producing excellent sauvignon blanc, as well as the famous Friulano. The traditions of Carinthian winemakers in general have common roots with the traditions of wine production in Friuli Venezia Giulia, but although both white and red Carinthian wines are worthy of tasting, for my personal taste, Carinthian white wine wins over red wine. Riesling and Chardonnay local production - dry wines with a delicate, tart taste and bright aroma, and, importantly, they are very good in combination with lake fish. And, of course, one cannot fail to note the classic Austrian beer and apple-pear cider.

HOW TO GET TO CARINTHIA?

You can get to Carinthia as follows - a flight to Vienna, and then a flight to Klagenfurt; the second option is to arrive at the Ljubljana airport in neighboring Slovenia, then rent a car (travel time about an hour), the third option is to fly to Venice (Italy), and then again by car, the travel time will take about two hours, Italy from Austria is connected by a highway, the fare is 15 euros.

If you are bored with relaxing by the sea or in the forest, you are always welcomed by the mountains - majestic and unpredictable. Here you can have a great time both in winter and in summer. By the way, alpine ski resorts welcome guests even in hot weather. Visitors are provided with a wide selection of various entertainments, and the picturesque scenery of nature will not leave anyone indifferent.

1. Zell am See

A cozy resort town located in the depths mountain range, at the foot of which there is a lake. The advantage summer vacation in this place is considered the absence of an influx of ski and snowboard lovers. You can splash in the waters of Lake Celje, one of the cleanest in Europe, climb to the top of Mount Schmittenhöhe and admire the beauty eternal ice... Fans of outdoor activities will not be bored either. Here you can choose your favorite activity: diving, fishing, golf, tennis, horse riding and much more. In the evening, the hospitable city of Zell am See invites everyone to plunge into the peculiarities of Austrian culture and entertainment.

2. Saalbach-Hinterglemm

This is a resort for fans extreme species entertainment. If you like hiking, specially paved trails will reveal the beauty of the Alpine slopes. Mountain bikers and freeriders can take part in competitions and showcase their talents and athletic skills. Fans of outdoor activities can walk along the trail laid along the suspension bridges, which are located near the crowns of trees. Will not leave you indifferent and rope park... If the adrenaline rush isn't high enough for you, visit the Jump & Slide fan park, where you can jump on trampolines, climb a wall for rock climbing, etc. When you get tired of wandering the mountains and climbing trees, visit the outdoor pool, which offers many water activities.

3. Bad Gastein

Bad Gastein is an old aristocratic town where you can relax at any time of the year. Here you can walk through the forest and mountains. Nearby is the crystal lake Gaishtan, where you can splash on hot days. The resort is notable for its radon springs and healing mineral water, as well as the knowledge and skills of local specialists who advise everyone and provide professional assistance. Locals are confident that an integral part of health promotion and getting rid of diseases is leisure on fresh air, so apart from hiking here you can spend time horse riding, cycling, playing golf, wandering along the old streets of the city.

If you are tired of the bustle of the metropolis, you are not attracted by places of large crowds of tourists, take a closer look at the remote mountainous area. The resorts here are not worse, and the charge of positive energy, health and adrenaline is even better.
