Boeing 777 200 aircraft description. North wind. Extra legroom seats

IN boeing aircraft 777-200ER of Rossiya Airlines (tail numbers VP-BLA and VQ-BNU) the salon is divided into two classes: business and economy.

How to choose best placesto make the flight as comfortable as possible?

What are the best seats on the plane? In the aisle, in the middle, by the window? In the bow or tail? in our article.

Business Class

The business class cabin uses a 2x3x2 seating arrangement. Seats of this class are located on rows 1 and 2.
Chairs are designated:

In the 6th row, the seats are located as in business class - according to the 2x3x2 scheme.

Row 3
The first row of economy class hanging comfort has even more legroom compared to the subsequent rows in this sector. In addition, I would attribute to the advantages the absence of front chairs, proximity to business and economy class bathrooms. The layout of the seats is 3x3x3.

Rows 4 and 5
The seats in these rows have standard legroom for this sector. To the benefits of all ranks of the economy class superior comfort can be attributed to the location relative to the aircraft cabin.

The luxury section is located in the bow of the Boeing. The number of seats in this sector is much less than in the “regular” economy class. During the flight, you will be spared from people walking around the cabin and queues to the toilet rooms.
Food distribution begins with the nose and tail of the aircraft, and you will be among the first to receive food.

Row 6
The extreme range of this sector has both advantages and disadvantages.
The advantages include the layout of the seats according to the 2x3x2 scheme. For those flying in pairs, it is ideal to book seats A, C and J, L. Located close to the windows and with good overview two seats, as in business class.

On the downside, I will include the non-reclining backs of the chairs. Boeing 777-200 is mainly used for long-distance routes... An upright seat backrest can create some discomfort during a long flight.

Rows 10 to 43 are given over to the standard economy class. You will find out which are the best places in this sector and which ones to avoid by reading the article to the end.

Row 10
By choosing seats in this row, you will enjoy the benefits of Superior Economy Class for less money. A ticket to Standard Economy Class is cheaper, even if the airline asks for a surcharge for row 10 seats.

Passengers are provided with additional legroom, the absence of a seat in front. During the flight, your personal space will not be disturbed, because no one will lower the back of the seat in front.

A stone's throw from the toilets and kitchen. In flight practice, the bulk of passengers prefer to use the toilets located in the tail section of the Boeing 777-200.

Chairs of the 10th row are placed according to the 3x4x3 scheme and have letter designations:

A B C D E G H J K L

The disadvantages, with a big stretch, include placement hand luggage only on the shelf above the chairs.
Fans of landscapes behind the window are not advised to choose a block of seats D, E, G, H. It is located in the middle of the cabin far from the windows.

Rows 11 and 12
These two rows have standard legroom. The layout of the seats is the same as in row 10.
Actually, this scheme is used from 10 to 38 rows.

View from the porthole in row 12 is partially obscured by the leading edge of the aircraft wing. Also, some discomfort can be created by noise from the engines located on the wing.

Rows 13 to 28
The seats in these rows are above the wing of the aircraft. If you are not confused by the limited view from the porthole, these places have no other drawbacks.

Row 29
The seats in this row are located on the trailing edge of the wing. The view from the porthole will be limited. The seat pitch is standard.
Among the shortcomings - additional noise from the engines located on the wing and not reclining backs of the seats of this row. The restrooms are located immediately behind it.

They are located in the middle of the cabin. Discomfort from passengers frequenting the toilets and queuing in front of them is possible.

Freestanding armchairs
In the Boeing 777-200ER of the Rossiya airline, between the 29th and 30th rows in the center of the fuselage there is a block of 4 seats located opposite the toilet with all the ensuing consequences. Formally, it belongs to the 30th row.

The backs of the seats in these places do not recline, which creates additional inconvenience for long-distance flights. If possible, avoid selecting seats in this block.

Row 30
The center 4 seats have increased legroom and no forward-facing seats. The disadvantage is the close-located toilet.

In front of the side blocks of 3 seats, because of the emergency exits in front of them, there is no wall. Due to this, legroom is much more than in business class. When leaving, you do not need to squeeze between neighbors, if your place is by the window.

Among the disadvantages is the proximity of the central toilet, where economy class passengers from the central and rear sections will flock.

Rows 31 to 38
They have neither advantages nor disadvantages. The standard seating arrangement is 3x4x3, the standard distance between the rows.

Rows 39 to 41
The layout of the seats in this block is 2x4x2. I recommend choosing seats A, C and J, L. The advantages include the wide aisle between blocks of two and four seats. Lack of a third chair and, accordingly, another neighbor.

Keep in mind that the constructive narrowing of the aircraft fuselage begins from row 39. In blocks of two seats, the case with portholes will be located at an angle to the seats.

Row 43
The worst uncomfortable row on the plane. It is located in the center of the fuselage and has only 4 seats. On the contrary, on both sides, there are toilets, the doors of which just go to places D and H, there is no exit to the windows. Behind the backs that do not recline is the kitchen.

The airline that operates flights to the destinations of the tourist operator Pegas Turistik. However, after the bankruptcy of some russian airlines some of their flights were transferred to the Nord Wind company.

Regular transportation is carried out under the lowcost system (low-cost flights), where the ticket price may not include baggage, there may be no food on board. All this is provided for an additional fee depending on the direction.

Information about the company

Wind began its flight activity in 2008. Ensuring flight safety and good service is a priority. Now "North Wind" is in the top ten best airlines Russia.

"Nord Wind" operates flights from the base airport Sheremetyevo, and in 2017 the passenger traffic tripled. On this moment the airline operates about 500 flights a week to one hundred and eighty destinations.

The fleet consists of 21 aircraft, including three B-772ERs. Initially, the airline was created exclusively for charter flights, so the layout of the cabin was changed from standard to a more practical option.

Below in the photo is a diagram of the Boeing 777-200ER cabin. Nord Wind owns two aircraft with tail numbers VP-BJF, VQ-BUD, with 387 economy class seats and 6 business class seats. The VP-BJH has 261 seats for economy class passengers and 24 business class passengers.

General information about the Boeing 777-200ER

Start of operation - 1995, the aircraft belongs to long-range wide-body twin-engine monoplanes. The Boeing 777-200ER is an improved modification of the B772. It has an increased maximum allowable takeoff weight - up to 247,200 kg, maximum flight range - up to 14 thousand km. Boeing 777 200ER: Convenient overhead bins, cabin width 5.87 m, windows 380 x 250 mm.

The aircraft was created for transatlantic flights, according to general characteristics it is comfortable and quiet for long flights.

Boeing 777-200ER of the "Nord Wind" company

All three aircraft of this modification were previously operated in other countries, including Asian companies. The VP-BJB and VQ-BUD modifications first flew in 1998, and the VP-BJF airliner in 2004.

  1. Seat map Boeing 777-200ER (Nord Wind) aircraft VP-BJB and VQ-BUD: placement of economy class seats - three, four, three; 21, 39, 54, 55, 56, 57 rows - two, four, two; in business - two, two, two. The economy class seats are narrowed and made of lightweight material.
  2. (Nord Wind) VP-BJF aircraft: placement of economy class seats - three, three, three; 47, 58, 59 rows - two, three, two; in business - two, two, two.

The step of the seats is up to 74 cm, and the angle of inclination of the backrest is limited more than in similar modifications of airlines dealing only with regular flights.

Evaluation of the best and worst seats in the first and second VP-BJB and VQ-BUD salons

In the Boeing 777-200ER, the best seats without significant drawbacks are located in the business class cabin. A comfortable flight is provided by: a comfortable footrest, a good backrest tilt, a chair step a little more than a meter, a large table for eating and an increased seat width (one and a half times wider than in the budget class).

Economy class begins in rows numbered 5 and 6. Pros: no passengers sitting in front (which means that no one will lower their seat back in front), the ability to hang a cradle for a child during a horizontal flight (therefore, such seats are often assigned to passengers with children in their arms ) and the lack of toilets and kitchens nearby, so here the flight will take place in greater peace. The disadvantages include the small distance to the partition separating the two classes, that is, the passenger will not be able to stretch his legs forward, it is forbidden to keep carry-on luggage at his feet during takeoff and landing, since there is no holding mechanism in the event of a sudden braking of the aircraft.

The advantages of rows 7 through 11 are that the passenger can stretch his legs under the seat in front, and place his hand luggage there (if necessary).

Rows 12 and 14 complete the first economy class salon and are considered uncomfortable, as there is a kitchen nearby, noise and movement in which will interfere with relaxation. The backs of the seats are fixed, since there is a partition at the back and emergency exit.

The second economy class salon begins from the 20th row. The advantage is the absence of passengers in front. There are much more disadvantages here: there is no way to stretch your legs, there is a kitchen and toilets nearby, the constant fuss among the crew and passengers will create significant inconveniences. Toilet smells are also an unpleasant addition to comfort. In addition, queues for the toilet will line up precisely near the extreme places of this row.

The convenience of 21 rows is only in places C and H, because there is no chair in front of them and you can fully stretch your legs, however, passengers who have gone to the toilet or just walk around the cabin to stretch their legs will interfere.

Due to the absence of individual air conditioners in the luggage racks above the seats, the operation of the general air conditioning and air circulation system of this modification, the temperature in the cabin between 30 and 39 rows is higher than the standard cabin. And seats on the 39th row are considered absolutely uncomfortable due to the toilet wall and emergency exits behind the back of the seats, so they are always fixed in an upright position.

Evaluation of the best and worst seats in the third salon VP-BJB and VQ-BUD

The third salon opens row 45. Due to the presence of an emergency exit in front, it is possible to stretch your legs, and during the flight, no one will tilt the back of the seat in your direction. However, the close location of toilets (unpleasant odors and queues of people who can stand at emergency exits) makes this a problematic place.

In the 46th row, the seats located in the middle of the cabin look at the toilet wall. Therefore, the disadvantages are unpleasant odors and the inability to stretch your legs.

The C and H seats in the 53rd row have more inconveniences from contact with passengers passing to the toilet, the crew and the cart during servicing, since the fuselage narrows at this point.

Rows 54, 55, 56 are comfortable and consist of two seats on the sides of the cockpit, accordingly, there is more peace here.

Toilet rooms and a kitchen are located next to 57 and 58, so there is no way to recline the back of the chair, and the flight will spoil the constant noise and fuss in the toilet lines.

In the tail section of the aircraft, turbulence is always stronger than in the nose, and for some it is a discomfort.

Characteristics of the VP-BJF board layout

(Nord Wind) aircraft with tail number VP-BJF differs from the previous ones. The business class salon consists of 24 seats (from 11 to 16 rows). In Economy Class, there is increased comfort in the step of the seats, so you can lower the backrest lower. Economy class consists of only two cabins and begins with numbering 31. Passengers who do not have neighbors in front during the flight are located in rows 31 and 48, but the distance for extended legs is greater here. The backs of the seats, fixed in an upright position, are located in rows 47 and 59. In rows 47 and 48, the presence of toilet rooms is considered a minus for rest, and for row 59 - noise from the kitchen in the rear of the aircraft.

The Boeing 777-200 is a wide-body, long-range twin-engine aircraft developed by a large American concern using computer 3D graphics in 1990. Four years later, the first test flight took place, and already in 1995 its official commercial operation began.

Despite the release of new upgraded Boeing 777 models, the 777-200 version of various modifications remains in demand among many air carriers around the world. Serial production of the passenger model continues.

The Russian airline North Wind was established in 2008, has licenses for passenger and cargo transportation, and organizes charter flights around the world. The carrier is a subsidiary of the tour operator Pegas-Turistik. Is the base airport in Moscow Sheremetyevo, in Siberia? Tolmachevo (Novosibirsk) and Emelyanovo (Krasnoyarsk). The company leases its aircraft to several international airlines.

The air fleet of the North Wind consists of 32 aircraft: eight Boeing 757-200ER, eight Boeing 767-300ER, eight Airbus A321-200, four Boeing 737-800, three Boeing 777-200ER and one Airbus A320-232. The airline also signed a contract for the purchase of three aircraft from the Irkut corporation.

Service classes

North Wind Airlines offers its passengers two service options:

  • Economy class. Aircraft cabins are equipped with soft ergonomic seats, an atmosphere of coziness and comfort is created around. During the flight, there is a varied menu and a large selection of entertainment films to watch while enjoying a fruit cocktail. Throughout the journey, you can observe the location of the aircraft on a special screen. For passengers who wish to fly in silence, there are earplugs in the seat pocket.
  • Business Class. Provides restaurant cuisine and a wide range of entertainment. The menu is prepared by our chefs. You can drink both non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks. If desired, the chair can be transformed into a bed and sleep. After arriving at your destination, the flight attendant will inform you of the end of the flight.

Baggage transportation

A business class passenger has the right to carry several pieces of baggage with a total weight of up to 40 kg, including hand luggage. Moreover, the weight of one unit should not exceed 32 kg. Dimensions in height, width and thickness should not exceed 160 cm. An economy class passenger can carry up to 20 kg of baggage.

The weight of carry-on baggage for both classes must not exceed 5 kg. Diplomats, handbags are accepted on board, printed editions, baby food, umbrellas, outerwear, video equipment, portable PCs, baby bassinets, wheelchairs, crutches.

Family Travel Service

Family Travel is suitable for passengers traveling with small children. A stationary cot is provided for a child under 1 year old. At the request of the client (24 hours before departure), it is possible to prepare a special children's menu. Children under 2 years old are not provided with a separate seat. Passengers with children are not accommodated near emergency exits and safety equipment. Also, this class can transport pregnant women, but only after the written permission of her attending physician and no later than four weeks before the expected date of birth.

Every year the number of passenger air transportation is growing steadily and, as a result, the popularity of large and capacious Boeing "three-seven" aircraft is increasing. The Boeing 777 holds the record for board size (among passenger aircraft) and range.

Liner device

Boeing 777 is a wide-hull aircraft with two motors and a turbofan (efficient and economical) engine. The wings of the liner are located low relative to the hull (low wing). The wing shape resembles an arrow (arrow-shaped).

The hull and some elements of the vessel (the floor in the cabin, the steering wheel in the cockpit, etc.) are almost 10% composed of special alloys and materials, which affects both the strength and the total weight of the aircraft. Boeing's landing gear consists of 6 wheels.

The aircraft is fully equipped with a digital remote control system on par with conventional steering wheels. The Boeing 777 was the first to use innovative technologies for convenience and comfort: a video screen mounted in the back of the seat, an electronic flight log. For the convenience of passengers, the size of the shelves was increased.

For a comfortable long flight of the 777 crew, a relaxation room with comfortable chairs and berths was added above the head cabin.

The developers did not bypass the aesthetic component: smooth lines of the cabin, diffused light, large windows.

Basic aircraft modifications and their features

Two indicators for comparison - the length of the aircraft and the flight range - make it possible to distinguish several models in the Boeing 777 series. The Boeing 777-200 is considered the reference model, and the 777-300 is its modified extended version, which can accommodate up to 550 air passengers.

The difference between the types of 777-200 lies in the parameters of the flight duration. The very first version 777-200 covered distances of more than 8 thousand km and was intended for domestic traffic in the United States. In 1995, work began on its modification. In simple terms, they needed an aircraft capable of even longer flights.

Additional letters ER mean " extendedrange"- increased range, 777-200 flies at a distance of 12 to 14 thousand km. It differs from the original version in that the aircraft has increased fuel reserves and takeoff weight. 777-200ER is designed for international flights, flights across the Atlantic. This liner model has become the most popular passenger aircraft.

Additional letters LR mean " longerrange"- long range. The aircraft is capable of flights over 14 thousand km, can "connect two opposite points" on the globe (Dallas - Tokyo, Singapore - Los Angeles). Boeing has set the famous record for longest flight (no landing) among passenger liners, 777-200LR flew over 17 thousand km (17370 km).

It differs from previous versions by even greater take-off weight and three additional fuel tanks. Appearance also slightly tweaked: slightly more beveled fenders, reinforced landing gear and a powerful glider.

Comparative characteristics of Boeing 777-200 models

Cabin layout 777-200

The interior layout depends on two parameters:

  • configuration (position) and the number of seats in the cabin
  • number of classes

The seats are arranged in rows, the number of which varies, depending on the configuration of the cabin, from 43 to 62. The number of seats in a row also varies from 4 to 10. The fewer seats in a row, the more prestigious the class. The number of seats in the cabin ranges from 306 to 550 The location of the seats, kitchens and toilets is very diverse, and the interior layout itself makes it possible, if necessary (or at will), to rearrange the passenger seats and other elements.

The standard division into classes around the world suggests 3 levels:

  • first
  • business
  • economy

But many airlines have their own categories. For example:

  • imperial, as a subspecies (or replacement) of the first,
  • premium or premium, somewhere it belongs to business class, and somewhere to economy class,
  • tourist, as a subspecies of the economy class.

As a rule, on 777-200 aircraft there are cabins with 2 or 3 classes, but in some cases there are 1 (440 seats) and 4.

Boeing 777-200 with 2 class cabin

These are the classes:

  • business
  • economy

The high level of comfort - business class - is located at the front of the liner. Chairs of this level are at a sufficient distance from each other, this allows you to recline the back, stretch your legs or put them on a special stand. In an aircraft with 306, 314 or 396 seats, the business class is small, only 6-10 seats with a 2-2-2 or 2-3-2 configuration, arranged either in rows or in a checkerboard pattern.

Economy class takes up most of the cabin. The seats are arranged differently depending on the aircraft: 2-5-2, 3-4-3 and 3-3-3. The distance between the seats is significantly less than in business class, which is especially inconvenient for tall people. The small distance between the chairs does not allow reclining the back, but only slightly tilting it (45 degrees).

Toilets are located in the center and rear of the cabin.

Boeing 777-200 with 3 class cabin

These are the classes:

  • first (or luxury class, or imperial)
  • business Class
  • economy

Sometimes there is a configuration of such three classes as: business, economy and tourist. In terms of quantity, there are 3, but in fact this is an aircraft with two comfort classes: business and economy.

In the bow of the aircraft is the very best elite class - first or premium. Number of seats from 6 to 16, in 1-2-1 or 2-2-2 configurations. The armchairs are more like mini-sofas, large, comfortable with reclining backs. For this class there is a separate toilet and its own kitchen.

Business class is more spacious (up to 42 seats) compared to the previous layout, but, in general, the level of comfort is no different. This class also has a separate toilet and kitchen.

In the center and tail of the aircraft there is the remaining economy class, with an average of 180 seats. All characteristics of the economy class are the same regardless of the cabin modification.

Boeing 777-200 with 4 class cabin

These are the classes:

  • first
  • business Class
  • economy
  • tourist

A distinctive feature of this form of planning is the division of the economy class into two types: the economy itself and the tourist class. They are no different in terms of seat layout or comfort level. The only thing: the economy class is in the center, and the tourist class is in the tail of the plane.

The rows in the cabin are marked with Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3 ... 43), and the seats - with Latin letters (A, B, C ... K, L)

Pros and cons of seating arrangement, seat selection when buying a ticket

When choosing a seat, most passengers are guided by such criteria as:

  • class and level of comfort, and, consequently, the cost of the ticket
  • row, its proximity or remoteness to partitions and toilet
  • location in a row (in the center, near the aisle, closer to the window, etc.)

The most comfortable places, but also the most expensive, are the first and business class seats. The disadvantage of these seats is only their cost. Accordingly, the more advantages according to the listed criteria, the more comfortable the flight. And vice versa.

At the very beginning of the economy class, right after the business class, partitions are located; they are always indicated on the layout diagram. Toilets are also located here, as a rule. And both factors make the first row of the economy extremely inconvenient.

Economy class is divided into either two sections (center and tail) or tourist class. Between them there is an emergency exit, or a partition, or a toilet, which in each case brings its own inconvenience to the last row of the central part of the liner.

But the first row of the tail, on the contrary, is convenient, since there is additional space. On long flights, this can be a defining moment, regardless of whether there is a toilet nearby.

The last rows in the very tail of the plane are characterized in the same way as the central ones: there is an uncomfortable partition, because of which it is difficult to recline the back of the seat, the toilet and the constant queue into it. The only plus, especially for those who are afraid to fly, is the statistical fact of survival in case of plane crashes (more than 60% of the survivors were sitting here).

The rest of the seats are considered standard in terms of convenience and comfort.
