Until the season is over, I will write briefly on the issues that interested me personally before the trip (regarding a baby of 4-5 months). It was a test drive from home with me + daughter, grandmother + grandfather. I wanted to test the baby on the plane, on the road, etc. on a simple and short trip. You can live at two heights - 540m (Lower hills, hotels and apart-hotels) and 680m (Upper City, more expensive hotels and with a swing at lukhari). From Moscow by plane fly over 2 hours (Aeroflot). Transfer from the airport by car for 35-40 minutes to the Lower and another 10 minutes along the gentle serpentine to the Upper hills). There is no sea nearby - accordingly, minus the crowd of compatriots. There are mountains, stunning views, ski lifts, clean air, sun, doing nothing.
You can swim in the pools (Marriott, Gazprom, hotel spa zones, the water park in GorkiMall) or go to the Imeretinsky beach by transfer (everything is paid). But we are not fans of swimming in the Russian Federation and treating rotaviruses, so I did not delve deeply.
Initially, I drew attention to admiration for the Gorod Gorki apart-hotel (540). This is a complex of buildings scattered across the Lower City with a very democratic pricing policy. All rooms have well-equipped kitchens and 1 to 3 bedrooms. No meals, room cleaning every 4 days - in general, an ordinary apart-hotel.
Of the pluses - the price tag and the location is close to the Mountain Carousel (although everything is close there, which is already here). But I was confused by two points. First, sanitation (they rarely clean and, according to reviews, are not very thorough). Secondly, a lottery when issuing numbers. My friends rented two equivalent rooms for the same money (kitchen / living room + two bedrooms), and as a result, some got a huge room (more than 100 sqm) with a balcony, while the second room was like "you open the front door and it rests on the dining table."
I think the difference is in the length of residence (the first lived for two months, the second for two weeks) and in the ability to swing rights (the first ones were pumped, the second did not care). If the child is older, or parents are calm about the simplicity of life, this great option for a long stay in the summer for a relative five cents. I think next summer it will be done.
I didn't want to participate in lotteries with an infant. But I wanted silence and greater coolness. Therefore, in the end I settled on a small Solis Sochi Suites (960m), booked through Booking. A day before departure (as always in Russia, suddenly) they called from the hotel and said that it was actually closed for repairs. But, to the credit of the Solis administration, they offered accommodation in another Solis (Sochi Hotel), at the same 960 meters, with an upgrade of our room with the baby. In general, the replacement turned out to be nice, because Solis Sochi Hotel is completely out of the way, silence, great views, that's all. And if the air conditioners were still working normally, there would be no price for it))
Of the huge advantages - the view from the restaurant's balcony (we took it with breakfasts and dinners, so as not to rush with the child in the heat in search of food) and the massage therapist Ivan in the hotel's Spa (in summer, by the way, they have a 30% discount to the price list).
It was endless to get into this mountain, having given the baby to the baboders.

The upper town is like a small European town. And for the decoration at the same time. There are so few people there, and everything is new. On weekends, of course, the hacking troops come from below, but they are mostly passing through for more high altitudeso that contact can be avoided.
There are more people in Nizhniye Gorki, but also in comparison with some Sochi or Adler - one and a half people.
There is a lift between the levels with closed cabins, free for hotel guests on both levels (upon presentation of the room key card). Climbing higher - already for money. And keep in mind, there will already be open chair lifts higher up, you need to be careful with children.
There are not very many conditions for wheelchairs at the top, solid stairs, but you can almost always find a detour. We took the yoyo, it was not very useful (but partly because the baby did not want to sit quietly in it and strove to go out head first). At the bottom of the flat sidewalks and ramps there are more, of course, but also not shine.
Now for the household.
At 540m there is the Gorki Mall with a strange array of shops. From useful - Crossroads (in terms of assortment and prices similar to those in Moscow). There is a pharmacy at the base of the lift (540m). At 960m, there is also some kind of a pharmacy with the main categories of goods, but there is not everything (at the Panorama hotel).
I was very worried about the issue of the presence of diapers (my beloved Mooney). So, I managed to find Mooney in Gorki Gorod only in one place - a small children's store at an altitude of 540 (if you go from the lift to GorkiMall, it will be almost immediately). But everywhere (in pharmacies, in the Crossroads) there are a lot of Merris, Pampers and Liberos. They cost, however, much more expensive (I buy Mooney in Moscow for 1100 - in Gorki they are 1600 per pack). There are disposable nappies, bottles, toys, swim nappies and even clothes for babies (from size 68, in that very small shop with Moons).
In the Crossroads there are mixtures of Nan, Friso, Similak (and a couple of other items), all kinds of purees (common for the range of Crossroads).
In general, if necessary, the baby can be provided, if not with the usual brand, then with an analog, but you will have to overpay somewhat.

All in all a suitable place for summer.
This year my family and I decided to do something different. When deciding on the place of rest, we asked ourselves whether we want to go to the Black Sea beach, which is packed to capacity, to inadequate prices and dubious service. It turned out - we don't want to))) Therefore, the decision to go not to the sea, but to the mountains turned out to be super correct. The choice fell on the legacy of our Winter Olympics - Hotel "Gorki Gorod Apartments 3 *" in the village of Esto-Sadok (+540 m above sea level). Imeretinskaya Bay is 42 km from the hotel. straight line, with tunnels, cable-stayed bridge, and great views. By the way, we drove three times from our apartments to the sea, 42 kilometers simply did not notice, because we drove quickly and without traffic jams for about 35 minutes. The sea in Imeretinka is excellent!
Advice : to find a hotel, in the search engine you can enter "rest in Adler" or "rest in Krasnaya Polyana", it will give a bunch of options, but I advise you to opt for "Gorki Gorod Apartments".
I must say right away that the rest turned out to be surprisingly budget too. We went in mid-July 2016. I bought the tour through an agency that posted a very favorable offer on one of the "discount" sites.
The cost of living for two adults and two small children for 6 days (5 nights) was only 15,960 rubles.
For this money, we lived in a huge 130 m2 room, with three separate bedrooms, each of which had a separate bathroom with a bath or shower. The bed linen was of excellent quality, crisp white. Towels were changed every three days. Also, the room, or rather the apartment, was equipped with modern kitchen furniture and appliances. There were two more sofas in the living room kitchen, which could also accommodate guests if desired. In general, such an area for our small family was even a little too big))) But we liked it). The view from the loggias was stunning! And what air!))) After the unbearable Krasnodar heat, the mountain air was simply impossible to breathe. He wanted to eat with a spoon, like ice cream.
As for the hotel itself, you can give it a solid four with a plus. No, with three pluses. There are many rooms, they are modern, spacious and well equipped. Our room had everything from an iron to a dishwasher. There was no oven and washing machine, but you can live without them for a week, and in extreme cases, the hotel provided laundry services. On the downside, it seemed to me that the room was not cleaned very carefully and the check-in was not very fast. But all this did not spoil the impression, because there were objectively more advantages, and even for that kind of money.
Some more tips for hotel guests:
1. It is worth taking with you (although you can buy on the spot in the "Crossroads") pills for PMM, kitchen towels. The hotel only gives one tablet, regardless of the number of days
2. For minor everyday issues, it is easier to contact not the reception, where there is always a queue, but to the senior at the entrance (concierge), she solves issues faster.
3. In order to get to the neighboring villages - Rosa Khutor and Gazprom Laura, there are stops right in front of the hotel public transport... The bus fare to Rosa Khutor is 19 rubles per person. From Rosa Khutor to Gazprom - 10 rubles. It is much cheaper than driving your car and paying for a parking space there. You can't just leave the car - parking is prohibited and tow trucks are working. And there is a shuttle bus from the hotel to the beach.
4. When buying tickets for entertainment in Gorki Gorod (for example, climbing the Black Pyramid mountain), hotel guests receive a discount.

And near the hotel you can rent modern expensive bicycles and take a ride to the neighboring Olympic village of Rosa Khutor or Gazprom Laura. There are bicycles with baby bike seats, there are just bicycles for children, the ride takes about 20 minutes, it's great!
I want to emphasize again. Gorki town is an all-season resort, although most people do not perceive summer vacations in the mountains, and believe that they are suitable only for winter pastime. We made sure that it is wonderful here in the summer. The price level is low, there are not many people, the mountains are amazing, the hotel is great! In general, this is just the perfect format for our family. summer vacation... We will definitely go again! Most likely, now we will try to come in winter, learn skiing and snowboards.
