Dalat Flower Park

A huge park in the city of Dalat, you can get here both on foot and by taxi (from the city center approximately 40-50 thousand dong). This botanical park was founded by French colonialists in 1966. All kinds of plants are not here!

There are also greenhouses on the territory, where you can buy your favorite specimens. By the way, only in one city of Vietnam - Dalat, you can buy bulbs of all kinds of orchids (you can take them home in your luggage), in other cities only sprouts of these unusual flowers are sold, which Russian customs prohibits from being imported into the Russian Federation.

The cost of entering the Prak of Flowers - 30 thousand dong ($ 1.3).

And not far from the Garden of Flowers, you can see such an unusual Catholic church, which from afar hike to a Buddhist pagoda:

We saw the top of the "pagoda" from a slide in the flower garden and decided to look at it, it turned out that it was a Catholic church

Lin Sean Pagoda (in the center of Dalat)

A small pagoda located directly in the city, so you can even visit it on foot. The pagoda itself is unremarkable, inside there is a statue of Buddha, there is a bell. But her territory is beautiful, there are many sculptures, a quiet garden and a view from the hill to the streets.

Prenn park and waterfalls

The second most popular (after the park with electric sleigh and cable car) place to visit in Dalat. The park is famous not only for its waterfall (which, by the way, is very modest), but also for riding on elephants and ostriches. The park is beautiful and large, it is pleasant to walk here. You can also dress up in national costumes for a fee and take pictures in the background beautiful naturewhich we did.

The entrance to Prenn Park is 30,000 VND ($ 1.3).

Datanla park and waterfalls (cable car and electric sled)

Datanla Park and Waterfalls are just 5.5 km from Dalat. The park is famous for its electric sleighs (both on) and cable car. This is a must-see place for absolutely all tourists coming to Dalat, so there are always crowds of people here. Read more about our visit to Datanla Park.

Pongur waterfall in Dalat

The most beautiful and unusual waterfall in the vicinity of Dalat! And the most beautiful waterfallthat we've ever seen. Of course, we visited it at a good time and it was full of water. AT dry season the impression of him can be spoiled.
The waterfall is located far, 50 km from the city, but it's worth a visit!

For a more detailed story about Pongur waterfall and other photos and a map, see.

Linh Phuoc Pagoda

The pagoda is famous for the fact that many different fragments were used in its decoration. In the main building (a bell tower of 7 floors) you can go up to the top floor and see the surroundings of Dalat from above:

Chuk Lam Pagoda

It is located near Datanla waterfalls, so it makes sense to combine a visit to these attractions in Dalat. The entrance to the territory is free.
This pagoda amazed us with its peace. Here you want to sit on a parapet and be in contemplation for several hours. The atmosphere is complemented by wind chimes hanging on all trees and buildings.

Dalat is popular with tourists due to its unique natural places... But not only picturesque lakes, waterfalls, beautiful gardens deserve attention. There are also many interesting structures in the city, which are worth seeing even if you have to spend only 1 day here.

The atmosphere of Dalat is markedly different from other cities in Vietnam. The city of love and eternal spring - that's what the locals call it. Here, the structures are so in harmony with nature that sometimes it is difficult to understand what was created by hand modern man, and what was inherited from ancestors.

Local travel agencies offer to purchase excursion vouchers to the most remarkable corners of Dalat and its environs. Most often, tours are designed for 1-3 days. If you want to know what you can see in Dalat on your own in 1-2 days, then this article and a map with marked points will be a useful guide.

The only inconvenience that single tourists may encounter is the remoteness of the main attractions from the city center. In order to get there, you will have to:

  1. use the services of a local taxi;
  2. use the services of a motorcycle taxi. The bike owner will also be the guide;
  3. rent a car or bike.

We took a small green taxi. The smaller the car, the cheaper. In one day we managed to go around 7 places. The price came out - 1,100,000 dongs or $ 49. On the second day, 2 more places were visited. We ordered a taxi by phone using SMS in English. All the points that they wanted to bypass were entered in it. Indicated the hotel address and check-out time. In the early morning, the taxi driver arrived without delay.

Before leaving, we immediately discussed the amount of the trip. Agreed on VND 800,000. But the meter ran into 1,500,000 VND. The driver was caught very modest and could not ask for more than the agreed amount. We decided to pay him another 300,000 VND.

Here is a list of interesting places that we visited on our own in 2 days and we safely advise you to include them in your itinerary when traveling around Dalat. If you still don’t know what to visit in Dalat, our list will help you make the right choice.

  • The points are placed in the same order as we visited them.

Pongur Falls -

We decided to see the sights from the farthest point. We drove to the waterfall without stopping, and on way back drove to other places.

Many people call Pongur Falls the largest in Vietnam. It is difficult to judge whether it is true or not. After all, its height is only 30 m. But the waterfall cascades along wide steps. The sight is mesmerizing. It reveals itself in all its glory during the rainy season, i.e. in the middle of summer. At this time, all rivers are overflowing due to excess rainfall.

Even if you came to Dalat for only 1 day, feel free to include this place in your program. This is the best waterfall in the area.

Entrance - 10,000 VND (0.5 $)

Road to the waterfall

Elephant Waterfall is very powerful. The water here rushes down with a deafening roar to spray everyone who has come to admire the delights of the water element.

But before enjoying this view, you will need to go down a rather dangerous descent. My children and I did not dare to go there. Only my husband was sent.

Entrance - 20,000 VND (1 $)

Vietnam is famous for its coffee production no less than Brazil. Traveling around the suburbs of Dalat, every vacationer can stop and inspect the huge coffee plantations. It is not often in life that there is a chance to see how fragrant grains grow. Especially lucky for those travelers who come to Vietnam during the flowering of coffee trees. A real miracle to see delicate white flowers with a magical scent reminiscent of the scent of jasmine. On almost every farm, you can taste a freshly brewed drink and buy grains of coffee to go.

Entry - free.

Prenn waterfall -

This is not the most big waterfall in the vicinity of Dalat. Nevertheless, when traveling in Vietnam, you should definitely visit the most beautiful corner ten kilometers from the city. Water falls from a stone cliff into a lake. This is one of the favorite places for photography enthusiasts. Walking along the bamboo bridge, you can capture a lot of interesting shots.

Around the waterfall, there is a magnificent park full of exotic plants. At every step there are flowerbeds with amazing flowers, many gazebos, galleries, cafes. To feel the unity with nature and enjoy the sounds of water, birdsong, it is better to come here early in the morning. At this time there is still no such influx of people as by noon. At this time, enterprising Vietnamese are already luring guests with might and main with an offer to ride an ostrich or an elephant.

Elephant business is not uncommon in Dalat. Currently, animals are used only in tourism. Although not so long ago, they performed work on the transportation of goods or logging.

Walks in the park are available to tourists every day until 17:00.

Datanla Park -

Datanla Park and Falls are popular with tourists, as it is located near the city. The waterfall is relatively small. Its length is just over 300 meters. However, a walk through picturesque groves with outlandish plants will give you a lot of pleasure.

Many tourists come here just to ride famous attraction... Directly from the beginning of the park to the foot of the waterfall, you can get to the "Vietnamese hills". The electric sled ticket is sold at the ticket office at the entrance. The price for a sled is $ 2.3 (or 50 thousand Vietnamese dong) round trip.

Adult ticket - 30,000 VND ($ 1.5)

Child ticket - 15,000 VND ($ 0.75)

Chuk Lam Buddhist complex -

Chuk Lam is a functioning monastery located in the mountains south of Dalat at an altitude of 1.5 kilometers. The complex was founded in 1994 with the aim of reviving the religious school, which was founded by King Tran Nhan Tong.

You can get to the place by cable car, taxi or motorbike.

The architectural project belongs to the Vietnamese Ngo Viet Thu and Nyun Ngoc An. During the construction process, the building was complemented by massive gates and a bell tower, which were missing in the original version.

Currently, there are two monasteries here, a Buddhist school, and several temples. There is even a small hotel for pilgrims on site.

On the territory of the temple, we felt extraordinary harmony and peace.

Entry is free.

Crazy house -

Yes, there is a real madhouse in the very heart of the city. This is what the Vietnamese call a bizarre hotel. This is a tree-shaped building. Hang Nga, as it is also called, is full of architectural surprises. Crazy House's architect is Dang Viet Nga, the daughter of the country's party leader. In her work, the author tried to completely get away from the stereotypes inherent in classical buildings.

The hotel is designed in an abstract style. The buildings resemble the silhouettes of various animals, and the whole building seems to be located in a huge hollow. Appearance the hotel is difficult to describe in words. To plunge into the fantastic atmosphere of "Crazy House" you need to see everything with your own eyes.

It is worth noting that this is not the only architect's work in Dalat. You can get acquainted with her work by visiting the Catholic Church or the Palace of Culture.

Adult ticket - 40,000 VND ($ 1.8)

Child ticket - 20,000 VND ($ 0.9)

Temple of the Golden Buddha - Thien Vien Van Hanh Da Lat

The majestic Buddha statue is visible from almost every corner of Dalat. It is 24 meters high and weighs over a ton. The statue was built in 2002 on one of the most elevated places in the city. Since then, not a single tourist leaves the city without admiring the majestic Buddha sitting on a huge lotus.

Shakyamuni holds another lotus in his hand. According to legend, once the Buddha, speaking to the people on Sacred Mountain, showed the flower and watched the faces of the listeners. Then only one of those present smiled sincerely, looking at the beautiful plant. It was this person who was honored that the Buddha passed on his knowledge to him. There is a Buddhist temple next to the statue. Here you can also buy souvenirs with local symbols and small copies of the sights made of bronze.

Flower Garden - Dalat Flower Park

Dalat's flower gardens were created in the late 60s of the last century. But during the Vietnam War, they came to such a deplorable state that their reconstruction had to be carried out practically from scratch. Today, about a thousand of the most diverse flowers grow on a huge territory. Roses, gerberas, hydrangeas of a wide variety of colors are planted in the form of bizarre patterns and paths. The garden gate is made in the form of several arches, each of which is decorated with thousands of flowers. Throughout the territory, flower sculptures have been made in the form of animals, various objects and fairy-tale characters.

The collection of orchids deserves special attention. There are a lot of them here. In addition to the usual unpretentious varieties, in Dalat Park you can find rarest species, which are very difficult to grow in artificial conditions. For such capricious species, special pavilions have been built, where gardeners recreate familiar natural conditions for plants.

The Flower Park is a favorite place for Vietnamese needlewomen. Women of different ages come here not only for another portion of inspiration, but also put up their works for sale. Tourists have a wonderful chance to return home with a handmade memorable souvenir.

Adult ticket - 30,000 VND ($ 1.5)

Child ticket - 15,000 VND ($ 0.75)

How do I save on hotels when traveling

I choose a suitable option through a search aggregator. Love this one - Hotellook. He searches for hotels on several sites at once (including booking.com and agoda.ru). As a result, I choose the best offer.

7. Da Lat railway station

Dalat Railway Station was considered one of the most beautiful in Indochina. It was built in 1938 by a French architect. Vintage railway connected Dalat with the town of Tap Cham (84 km), but during the war the railway was damaged and closed. In 1991, a part of the railway was restored - about 7 km. Nowadays, a tourist retro train runs along this section of the route, which connects Dalat with the village of Trai Mat. The beautiful Lin Phuoc Pagoda is located in this village.

There is an old steam locomotive on the platform, and in one of the old cars there is a cafe where you can enjoy a cup of delicious Vietnamese coffee.

Timetable tourist train from Da Lat: 7:45, 9:50, 11:55, 14:00, 16:05. Travel time is 30 minutes one way and 30 minutes the train waits for passengers in the village while they explore the pagoda.

8. Central market Da Lat (Da Lat market)

The central market can be called another colorful attraction of Dalat. The market is large, trade has developed both in the building and in the streets adjacent to it. It is near the market that the whole tourist life of the city is in full swing. In the evening, several streets near the market become pedestrianized, along which a large evening market with food and souvenirs is laid out. A sort of Vietnamese 🙂

Even if you do not plan to buy anything in the market, you can still look at the central market to feel the atmosphere of Dalat, or you may not be able to resist candied berries and local wine, or strawberries and mulberries and buy a lot of Dalat treats 🙂

A very beautiful three-level waterfall just 5.5 km from Dalat. A popular place for both Russian-speaking and Vietnamese tourists. But for some reason, all tourists crowd near the first level of the waterfall, few people know that you can go down below - first in the cable car, and then by elevator (yes, by an elevator in the jungle!) And examine the second and third levels of Datanla waterfall almost all alone.

What to see in Dalat and its surroundings in 2-3 days

Above, I talked about the main attractions of Dalat, and now I will summarize what you can see in Dalat in 2-3 days. First, I will tell you what we visited in the city and the surrounding area, but I will clarify that we spent 5 full days in Dalat and two in half did not rush anywhere, put in late, relaxed in a cafe, sometimes worked in the evenings, i.e. led not quite a tourist life 🙂

Day 1 (after 14:00): flower garden, rest for coffee in a cafe on the shore of the lake, Crazy House, a walk through the market, dinner.

Day 2 (from 10:30): a walk around the city to the lower station of the cable car, ascent on the cable car, Chuk Lak Thienvien monastery, descent to the lake. From the lake we walked to the Datanla waterfall. Visiting all three levels of Datanla waterfall, riding on electric sledges, mini cable car and elevator 🙂 Snack and coffee in a cafe near the waterfall. We returned to the city by taxi, walked around the market and went to rest at the hotel. In the evening, a promenade along the "Walking Street", dinner at a restaurant.

Day 3 (from 12:00): bike rental, visiting Langbyang Mountain, visiting the Golden Valley Park, Big C shop, rest at the hotel, dinner at a restaurant and walks in the evening city.

Day 4 (it started very early, at 9 am 🙂): Elephant Falls, Pongur Falls, Prenn Park and Falls, Dalat Railway Station. At 16:00 we already rested at the hotel.

Day 5: a day of idleness - we slept, I walked around the city, drank coffee in numerous coffee houses, rode swans on the lake at sunset, dined in a restaurant, bought sweets and drank wine on the balcony of my room.

Day 6 (until 13:00): walking around the city, market, buying tea and coffee.

In this "light" mode we spent our vacation in Dalat - I liked it 🙂

Unhurried walks in Dalat
Coffee stops at numerous cafes
Romantic candlelit dinners in a restaurant

If you are on vacation in Vietnam and do not count every day, then I advise the following route for sightseeing in Dalat and the surrounding area:

Day 1: Pongur Falls - Prenn Falls - Datanla Falls - Chuk Lak Thienwien Monastery - cable car - walks around the city (with limited time Prenn can be excluded).

Day 2: Langbyang mountain (only if the weather is clear, otherwise you won't see anything from the mountain) - Golden Valley Park - Crazy House

Day 3: Railway station and retro train ride to Lin Phuoc Pagoda - Flower Garden - shopping for souvenirs

By the way, if you arrive in Dalat by plane (or fly out of it) and plan to get to the city by taxi, then the Elephant Falls can be viewed on the way from (to) the airport.

You can buy tickets to Da Lat.

And the hotel is easy to choose and book here (choose and compare offers in different booking systems):
