The most unusual beautiful places in the world. The most interesting and beautiful places on the planet earth. Fairy land of elves - Plitvice Lakes

Ecology of life: The most beautiful places on the planet Earth. Angel Falls is the tallest free-fall waterfall in the world. It is located in the highlands of Guyana in Venezuela on the Carrao River, which is one of the tributaries of the Orinoco. The name of the waterfall is translated from Spanish as "Angel".

My husband and I are avid travelers! We've traveled half the world in search of adventure! Now we are creating a video from our travels and presenting you a video about the Most incredible places on earth! (according to our version).

Angel Falls is the tallest free-fall waterfall in the world. It is located in the highlands of Guyana in Venezuela on the Carrao River, which is one of the tributaries of the Orinoco. The name of the waterfall is translated from Spanish as "Angel".

Since ancient times, local Indian tribes called the waterfall Churun-Meru (“The waterfall of the deepest place”), and the plateau from which it falls is Auyan-Tepui, which translates as “devil's mountain”, because of the constant thick fog in which it is shrouded ...

The main attraction of Venezuela

In 1910, the waterfall was discovered by the Spanish explorer Ernesto Sanchos La Cruz, but gained worldwide fame thanks to the American pilot and gold prospector James Crawford Angel.

In 1949, an expedition from the National Geographic Community of the United States was sent to the waterfall, which determined the main parameters of Angel. And in 1993, UNESCO included the waterfall in the list of world heritage of mankind. Now Angel is located in the Canaima National Park and is considered the main attraction of Venezuela.

The waterfall is surrounded by tropical forests and there are no special roads to it. Therefore, tourists are transported to Angel by air in a light plane or by water in a canoe with a motor. The most desperate thrill-seekers can jump off the edge of the plateau on a hang glider. The starting point for tours to the waterfall is the small village of Kanaymi. With the influx of tourists here, the town was transformed, several hotel complexes, restaurants and souvenir shops.

Seongdong is a cave in Central Vietnam, currently the largest cave in the world. It is located in the heart of Phong Nya Kebang National Park in Quang Binh province, near the Vietnamese-Lao border. Its dimensions reach record levels - the height is 200 meters, the width is 150 meters, and the length is more than 5 kilometers. The total volume of the unique education is 38.5 million m³.

Lying in the depths of the jungle, the cave entrance was first found by a local resident named Ho Han in 1991, but the roar of the stream and the steep descent from there prevented him from exploring it from the inside. Only in 2009, a group of British scientists led by Howard Limbert was able to discover and successfully study Shondong in Vietnam, after which they announced the official opening of the cave and confirmed that the size allows it to be given the status of the largest on the planet.

“Hang Sơn Đoòng” is Vietnamese translated as “mountain river cave”. It does have a fast flowing underground river that floods parts of Shondong during the rainy season. In addition, it has its own jungle, climate and even real clouds, which are formed due to the large temperature difference. Two huge windows of a giant underground cavity allow light to penetrate many parts of it, making it possible to grow a lush jungle with 3-meter trees inside.

Shondong is famous not only for its impressive size, but also for the best examples of cave formations on the planet. Here you can find interesting ancient fossils, stalactites and some of the tallest stalagmites in the world up to 70 meters high. Particularly impressive is the "Dog's Hand" and the place called the Cactus Garden. Also in the cave there are examples of giant cave pearls that fill the limestone layers.

The flora and fauna of Shondong is a godsend for any scientist. Many rare plant species grow on the territory of the cave, and recently a number of new species of animals have been discovered. Monkeys, hornbills and flying foxes all inhabit an unusual underground jungle.

The unique cave was formed as a result of a long process of limestone washing out by a water stream about 2-5 million years ago.

In early August 2013, the first tourist group went on an excursion to Son Dong. To get inside the sight, you need to use a rope to go down into the ground to a depth of 80 meters. Tourists crash there campingspending time in mazes underground cave or sitting comfortably by the fire. The cost of such entertainment is $ 3,000. From September to March, access to the cave is closed due to the rainy season, during which many areas are flooded. The 2015 tour schedule will be posted on the tour site later this year.

The world's largest cave, called Sơn Đoòng, attracts a lot of attention from many film companies such as the BBC, National Geographic, as well as famous Japanese and Brazilian teams. In 2011, she appeared on the pages of the popular National Geographic magazine.

Mount Roraima is the most famous and also the highest Venezuelan tepui (table mountain), reaching a height of 2810 meters. It is located at the junction of Brazil (Roraima State), Venezuela (Canaima National Park) and Guyana (the country's highest point). The surface area of the “big blue-green mountain” plateau, as it is also called, is 30 km².

Local Indians, in turn, call it "the navel of the earth" and believe that the goddess Queen, the progenitor of all people, lives at the very top of the mountain. Despite the fact that all tepuis are the houses of the gods, it is Roraima that is considered a holy place. Almost always, it is surrounded by whitish clouds, giving it a mystery, which cannot but attract adventure seekers and admirers of beauty here.

For a long time, the most beautiful mountain in South America remained impregnable and unexplored. Only the most daring Indians overcame the difficult path to the enchanted, according to their beliefs, lands, lying through almost impenetrable swamps and forests.

The first European explorer to study this area in 1835 was the German scientist Robert Schomburgk. He was impressed by the majestic mountains with a unique ecosystem, but attempts to climb one of them were unsuccessful.

Half a century later, in 1884, two British scientists Everard Im Thurn and Harry Perkins managed to do this, who conquered the top of Mount Roraima and revealed to the world all the secrets of this mysterious area. It is along this route that modern travelers climb the plateau of the famous Venezuelan tepui.

Written by the pioneers, a report on wondrous wanderings into unknown lands inspired the famous writer Arthur Conan Doyle to create a fantasy novel "The Lost World" about the discovery of a plateau inhabited by prehistoric species of plants and animals.

Constant cloudiness around the mountain is associated with the fact that the Amazon, Orinoco and Essequibo rivers originate at the foot of Roraima.

The surrounding landscapes are really very similar to a fantasy world with black rocks, hung with threads of waterfalls, colorful ponds, outlandish vegetation and rare animals.

Almost the entire surface of the mountain plateau is black from "desert tan" and microscopic algae inhabiting the upper layer of the stone. Only in places where sandstone is not exposed to the sun and rain or is regularly washed by water does its true color - bright pink - appear.

Different rates of destruction of sandstone layers contributed to the formation of a large number of bizarre rocks on the plateau. In some places the stone is cut by huge cracks, into which several rivers flow, later escaping from the rocks with noisy waterfalls. The water covers about a fifth of the plateau: peat bogs, bright pink puddles, crystal-clear lakes, fast-flowing rivers, the channels of which are strewn with crystals of rock crystal for several hundred meters.

The most colorful corners of the plateau are peat bogs - beautiful flowers, outlandish insectivorous plants grow there, and multi-colored carpets of moss and moss are dazzling. The local trees, which resemble bonsai in their appearance, are represented by a very small number of species.

The fauna of the Roraima plateau also cannot boast of a rich variety, but it surprises with its unique representatives, most of which are endemic. Many inhabitants of this area are painted black, even dragonflies and butterflies. The plateau is also home to noses, capybaras (capybaras), mice, lizards, several species of birds, spiders, predatory leeches and scorpions.

The most amazing representatives of the plateau fauna are miniature, about a centimeter in size, black toads, which tend to whistle before the rain. Each large tepui has its own special kind of these frogs.

Mount Roraima has another unusual feature: it attracts numerous lightning strikes, which strike the surface of its summit almost every day, and it is already very difficult to find a tree here that has not suffered from thunderstorm activity. The unearthly landscapes of Venezuelan tepui inspired not only the writing of science fiction novels, but also the creation of fictional films, documentaries and even cartoons.

In 1993, the valley at the foot of Mount Roraima was the setting for the famous science fiction film Jurassic Park, directed by Steven Spielberg.

In 2008, Griffin Productions released an educational documentary "Genuine Lost World"Dedicated to Mount Roraima. He describes the fascinating adventures of a modern exploration team that followed in the footsteps of the first summit conquerors, Ima Turn and Harry Perkins.

The creators of the cartoons also paid attention to the famous Venezuelan mountain. In 2009, the Disney / Pixar film studio released the cartoon "Up", in which the action takes place on Roraima. The cartoon disc also includes a short film Adventure Out There, which follows the Pixar team's journey to Roraima in search of creative ideas and inspiration for the animated film Up.

Today, several dozen people climb Mount Roraima every day. The ascent is usually made from the side of Venezuela, which owns three-quarters of the mountain, since this side has the gentlest slope. The Venezuelan town from which the road to Roraima begins is called Santa Elena de Huyren and lies near the Brazilian border.

To get to it, you first have to buy air tickets to Caracas (the capital of Venezuela) from Moscow, with about an hour and a half transfers in Paris, Madrid or Rome. And from Caracas there are regular buses in the direction of Santa Elena de Huayren. Alternatively, this town can be reached by bus from Ciudad Bolivar.

Niagara Falls was lucky to be located on the border of the largest American states - the USA and Canada, which naturally contributed to the transformation of Niagara into the most famous waterfall in the world, where crowds of tourists flock every year. Although at the same time in terms of its parameters, for example, in height, it is inferior to many other waterfalls, but it cannot be denied popularity and popularity. It is not the widest waterfall in the world either, but Niagara Falls - the most powerful in North America in terms of the volume of water passing through it (about 5700 and more m3 / s).

Niagara Falls, where the border of two Great Lakes (Erie and Ontario) is located, actually consists of three separate falls - American Falls, Veil Falls and Horseshoe Falls, which is often called Canadian due to the fact that it is located in this country. The height of Niagara Falls in the American part is 51 meters, and the height of the free fall is only 20 meters due to the large number of rocks.

But it is quite wide - 330 meters. However, this cannot be compared to the most impressive Horseshoe Falls, whose width reaches 790 meters due to a beautiful bend. The height of Niagara Falls in the Canadian part is 49 meters. The Canadian and American Falls are separated by Goat Island with viewing platforms, alleys, souvenir shops and a monument to Nikola Tesla.

The third and smallest waterfall is the Fata Falls. It is rather narrow and is separated from the American one by a small island called the Silver Island. The beautiful Rainbow Bridge, built in 1941 and linking Canada and the United States, spans across the gorge through which the waters of Niagara flow.

An interesting event happened in 1911, when, due to unprecedented frosts, Niagara Falls completely froze over and turned into a huge block of ice, which numerous tourists who came to see this amazing phenomenon tried to climb.

The name Niagara comes from the old Iroquois word "Onguiaahra", which is commonly believed to mean "Thunder of the Water". The Western world learned about the existence of the waterfall thanks to the explorer Father Louis Ennepin, who described it in 1677 during one of his travels. And after a couple of centuries, due to the emerging fashion for tourism, Niagara Falls began to be actively visited, which led to the development of this area.

In particular, thanks to the efforts of the great Nikola Tesla, a power plant was built. Niagara continues to draw crowds of tourists today. Most visitors to the American side are Hindus. In recent years, there has been a massive influx of Indian immigrants to the city of Niagara Falls, which today is filled with Indian food restaurants, souvenir shops, and more.

The world's largest dried up salt lake.It shines so much and shimmers in the sun that it hurts your eyes, so you can't do without sunglasses.

During the rainy season, from November to March, uyuni salt marsh lake turns into a huge mirror: the salt cells are covered with the thinnest layer of transparent water, in which the sky is reflected, and it becomes completely incomprehensible where, in fact, the horizon is.

Later, the salt crust dries up, and the water bursts out from the bottom - thanks to this "salt eruption" small cone-shaped volcanoes are formed.

In Salar de Uyuni, temperature changes are frequent. In the morning it can be below zero, and during the day the desert heats up to + 70 C.

Cutting through the desert in a jeep, you should get to the Fishing Island (Isla de Pescadores), where giant cacti grow from 8 meters in height and up to 1200 years old.

Another attraction of the Uyuni salt marsh is the Stone Forest. This is an unusual landscape with stone statues and sculptures, created not by man, but by wind and water. Postcards with the signature "Uyuni Salt Flats - Bolivia" will delight all your friends and relatives, who in their hearts consider themselves archaeologists, cavers and artists of a wide profile.

During a trip to Salar de Uyuni, you can spend the night in "salt" hotels, in which even beds and tables are made of sodium chloride.

After a 3-4-day journey across the salt marsh and the Altiplano plateau (in less time it is impossible to have time to see all this beauty), you can look into the nearby town of Uyuni, famous for its steam locomotive cemetery. Slowly (due to the dryness of the local climate) rusting carriages have been lying near the railway from Antofagasta to Bolivia since they were “retired” in the 50s. XX century: the extraction of minerals in these parts has fallen sharply, and steam locomotives were out of work.

Unique National Park called "Lensua Maranhenses" (Lencois Maranhenses) is located in the northeast of Brazil, in the state of Maranhão, known primarily for its Alcantara spaceport.

What is the uniqueness of this reserve? It would seem that it looks like an ordinary desert. Let's start with this impression. In fact, this is not a desert. Precipitation falls here hundreds of times more than in most deserts.

All precipitation forms fresh lakes between the dunes of white sand. When the rainy season comes, the "desert" comes to life and birds come here. Naturally, living organisms (fish, mollusks, amphibians, etc.) appear in the lakes. But the main attraction of Lencois Maranhenses is, of course, a magical combination of white sand and turquoise blue clear water.

Fly Geyser, which means soaring geyser, is an amazing geothermal geyser, located about 30 kilometers from the city of Gerlach, Nevada, USA. The geyser is located at an altitude of 1230 meters above sea level, the amount of precipitation in the region is only 300 mm per year. The height of the geyser is about 1.5 m.

The Valley of Geysers is a canyon (gorge) up to 4 km wide, 400 m deep and 8 km long, along which the Geysernaya River flows. There are dozens of similar canyons in Kamchatka, but here, over 6 km from the river mouth, more than 40 geysers and many thermal springs, which are conventionally subdivided into 9 sections.

Excursion ecological trail in this moment passes through the central part of the Valley of Geysers, these are the so-called 5, 6, 7 thermal areas. All known modern forms of hydrothermal activity can be observed here, including permanent and pulsating boiling springs, hot lakes, geysers, mud pots, mud volcanoes, steam jets, heated platforms, compactly adjacent to a small space.

The Valley of Geysers cannot be perceived, evaluated, or explored without connection with the complex and peculiar ecological system that has developed around the hydrothermal vents. The communities of local thermal bacteria, algae, lichens, mosses, and higher plants are unique.

The combination of “normal” and intrazonal areas of the vegetation cover, with a significant participation of thermal cenoses, also affects the local fauna. In this regard, not only the photogenicity of the Valley, but also the rare bio-ecological features of natural communities have led to an increased interest in the Valley of Geysers by biologists of various specialties.

Can't choose the best place on Earth, because in every part of the world, in every country there is something to see, there is something to be imbued with. But every tourist and person who loves to travel and seeks inspiration must visit the ten places that will be presented below. Photos will never be able to convey the unimaginable beauty that each of the listed places is fraught with.

The tenth place is occupied by unusual colored rocks, which are located in China, Gansu province. UNESCO World Heritage has brought this miracle of nature under its protection, as the amazing rocks look like they were painted by Pablo Picasso. The rock, composed of colored sandstones and conglomerates from the Mesozoic era, looks impressive, especially against the gray background big mountainsodes that are located near the province. Artists come here to get inspiration, and ordinary people come to see the unusual phenomenon with their own eyes.

The ninth place is occupied by the horizontal twin falls in Talbot Bay, Australia... The mainland itself boasts a large number of places that, in fact, seem to be wonders of nature, untouched by man. But those who seek thrills and do not want a soul in extreme sportsmust visit the unusual waterfalls. Their horizontal flow is due to the fact that a huge stream of water rushes at high speed through the mountain range and gorges, creating a temporary waterfall. Daredevils, perhaps, will appreciate such a dangerous journey through the seething streams of water and will be able to enjoy the beauty of this unusual phenomenon to their fullest.

The eighth place in the TOP is taken by one of the largest caves on the planet - Hang Son Dong, which is located in Vietnam. This miracle of nature is so magnificent that, even looking at the photo, there is a feeling of how small people are after all, because the height of the cave is 240 meters and the width is almost one kilometer. Such a vast territory can accommodate an entire airport with several planes. But it is useless to describe this miracle of nature, because you need to see such a creation of nature yourself.

On the seventh line of our hit parade was the volcano Erebus... Volcanoes are dangerous for humanity, but this does not make them less incredible and amazing. Many risk their lives in order to make a couple of shots of active and dormant volcanoes on our planet. People are used to the fact that volcanoes look standard: a green foot and a snow cap. But Erebus volcano is an exception to all the rules, as it is a block of ice on the coldest continent of the Earth - Antarctica. Yes, getting to it is quite difficult, because expeditions to the South Pole are not so frequent, but at every opportunity it is worth visiting this wonder of nature. Ice caps, peeping out from under the mountain ranges, release gas and even lava, which looks amazing among the permafrost and permafrost even in the photo.

The sixth position is rightfully taken by the flower valleys in India... For the fair sex, plantations of various flowers, listed in the Red Book, will be the best gift. But the stronger sex will not remain unimpressed, because the beauty of this heavenly place on planet Earth is mesmerizing. When you find yourself in the flower valley, you get the feeling that this place is completely untouched by man.

The most beautiful places on the planet: five leaders

The fifth position among the most extraordinary places is occupied by Plitvice Lakesthat are in Croatia. The crystal clear water flowing along the green slopes is mesmerizing. The flowers of India are undoubtedly beautiful, but as it was once said: "You can look at three things: a working person, fire and water." Everyone can get inspiration, plunge into the clear water of lakes and just see the virgin nature with their own eyes. Blue waters can match the lagoons of the Pacific Ocean in their beauty.

The fourth place rightfully belongs to the reed flute cave in China. It is Asia that has always attracted travelers because of its unusual structures and beauty that cannot be found in other parts of the world. China is full of mysteries, and the reed flute cave is proof of this. Those who have been there claim spiritual cleansing and complete relaxation that cannot be obtained elsewhere on Earth.

The Chocolate Hills in the Philippines ranked third in the TOP. They are named not because of the cocoa beans, but because these hills resemble truffle candies. Those with a sweet tooth will inappropriately appreciate such a "tasty" place. But in fact, the basis of the hills is one of the varieties of limestone, which gives the hills such a shade in summer.

The penultimate, second place in the charts of the beautiful corners of our planet is occupied by Pink Lake, which is located in West Africa. This name was given to the reservoir for a reason: its color at any time of the year is bright pink. The salinity of the water in this lake is several times greater than in the Dead Sea, and among its inhabitants there is only one single bacterium, which gives the reservoir such an unusual color. From a bird's eye view, the lake looks impressive, because it is surrounded by the African jungle and deep ocean.

And the leader, closing the TOP-10, is the Uyuni salt flat in Bolivia... It would seem, what could be unusual about salt deposits? Quite right - nothing. But only as long as during the rainy season these amazing places are not flooded. The salt marsh turns into a mirror surface, which reflects the whole world. At this time, Uyuni attracts tourists who take extraordinary pictures.

Planet Earth is amazing and unique. She shows the unprecedented diversity of nature, and each of her creation amazes and attracts. You can find pristine beauty anywhere in the world and capture its splendor in a photo.

The most beautiful places on the planet (photos of these points of the world will be presented later in the article) annually attract thousands of tourists. Their incredible landscapes are mesmerizing, and their unique flavor is remembered for many years.

Lake Uyuni in Bolivia

Salar de Uyuni is called the "Mirror of God" by the locals. The lake is the largest salt marsh in the world. Depending on the time of day and weather, the surface of the lake is painted in different colors.

This is due to the reflection of the sky in the salt crystals. During the rainy season, the salt marsh fills with water and creates a mirror effect. During dry periods, moisture evaporates and salt crystallizes, forming honeycomb-like cells.

It is considered a unique phenomenon that several species of pink and white flamingos migrate to Lake Uyuni in the warm season. Other attractions of this place are the salt hotels and the endless territories of the salt lands.

Cinque Terre

Cinque Terre - 5 fishing villages in western Italy, built in the Middle Ages. The ancient architecture of these places will appeal to art lovers and ordinary people.

The Cinque Terre is a national park included in the UNESCO heritage list.

The villages attract attention, first of all, by the colorful buildings located on the rocks. Combined with the natural beauty of the seaside, the houses in the Cinque Terre look truly fabulous.

Communication between villages takes place by railroad... The main income of the Cinque Terre comes from tourism, fishing and winemaking. Local rock and sandy beaches attract visitors with warm waves and amazing landscapes.

Pamukkale

Pamukkale means "cotton castle". This area in southwestern Turkey is truly unique, as there are unparalleled geothermal springs.

Unusual depressions in the rocks - travertines were formed due to mineral waters flowing down from the slopes, heated to + 30- + 100 ° С. The excess calcium in the liquid led to the formation of a snow-white sediment on the surface of the rocks.

Pamukkale is considered the best spa resort in Turkey today. Many people who have visited here note that the healing mineral waters helped to heal from skin diseases, rheumatism and problems with blood vessels. Therefore, in Pamukkale, you can not only enjoy the wonderful expanses of boiling white mountains and swim in hot springs, but also take care of your health.

Yunnan Rice Terraces

Rice fields the Chinese province of Yunnan are man-made. Over the years, people have gradually carved out terraces and installed canal systems that fill the pools with water, which helps the rice to ripen successfully.

It is best to see the beauty of rice fields from a height of 1-2 thousand meters. It is impossible to say for sure what time of year is ideal for visiting Yunnan province, as each season influences the appearance of the terraces differently without detracting from their charm.

In summer, the fields are covered with bright green growing rice. In autumn, the vegetation begins to turn yellow, painting the hills gold. In the spring, the first shoots begin to break through on the slopes, and flowering trees add white and pink hues to the landscape. In winter, the sky is reflected in empty terraces flooded with water, and on sunny days their surface resembles a mirror surface.

Great Blue Hole in Belize

The funnel is part of the Lighthouse Reef near the Yucatan Peninsula. These sea areas belong to the state of Belize. The blue hole was discovered during the expeditions of the French explorer of the seas Jacques-Yves Cousteau. In the course of a large-scale analysis of this place in the ocean, he discovered the natural nature of this reef.

It is assumed that there was a limestone cave in this zone before the Ice Age, which was flooded after the sea level rose. This explains the whimsical coloration of the funnel. On the edge of the atoll, it is light blue, and inside it is dark blue, which is associated with the great depth.

All the beauty of the blue hole can be seen only from a great height, so helicopter tours are popular here. The funnel also attracts diving enthusiasts who dive under the water to explore rare species of fish and algae.

Arizona wave

The outlandish sandstone cliffs called the Arizona Wave are located on the Utah-Arizona border in the United States. They are made of very ancient sand and are dunes that have been transformed into rocks by wind and water over the years.

The Arizona Wave is a smooth transition between rock formations. They have depressions and grooves, the surface of which is covered with smooth lines and transitions. Most beautiful view the terrain takes on at noon in the absence of shadows. However, during sunrise and sunset, these shadows create atmospheric landscapes.

Due to the influx of tourists, a special service monitors the number of visitors to this place. Access is open to only 20 people per day. This measure is due to the fact that the Arizona Wave exists thanks to a special ecosystem that must be maintained in its natural state.

Jiuzhaigou national park

Jiuzhaigou Chinese Park is located in Sichuan province. The national park is spread among the Minshan mountain range. The amazing beauty of the local nature remained intact and survived only because official access to this area was not possible until 1972.

Jiuzhaigou is rich in rare species of plants and animals, among which there are endemic species that live only in this area. In addition, the national park has 108 lakes and many cascading waterfalls. All reservoirs have an interesting color, which turned out due to the sediment of carbon dioxide at their bottom, due to which the waters overflow with blue, blue and purple.

Plitvice Lakes

The most beautiful places on the planet, photos of which have spread all over the world, cannot be imagined without Plitvice Lakes. This group of bodies of water in Croatia is famous for its scenic beauty. Lakes with light blue water, surrounded by pine and beech trees, form a truly beautiful view.

Environmental organizations are fighting to preserve the ecosystem of the lakes, therefore it is forbidden to swim in them, and in the adjacent forest it is forbidden to make fires and arrange family holiday... The excursions include an exclusive sightseeing of the natural beauty of Plitvice Lakes and the park, where you can also admire the graceful waterfalls.

Valley of the Ten Peaks in Canada

The most beautiful places on the planet (photos and images with them are often posted by regular travelers) cannot but include the Valley of Ten Peaks in Canada. It is located in Banff National Park, Alberta. A small mountain range consists of 10 hills, the peaks of which gave the name to this place.

Valley of the Ten Peaks is one of the five most visited places in Canada. The discoverer of this area, Walter Wilcox, said that the mountain range and Moraine Lake were the most magnificent sight he had ever seen.

The beauty of the valley is enhanced by the Moraine Lake located at the foot of the mountains. This body of water with amazingly clear azure water is especially beautiful on clear days. Mountains, floating clouds and age-old fir trees are reflected on the surface of the water.

Mount Roraima

Mount Roraima is one of the South American mountains that the local people call "tepui", which means "home of the gods." They are remnants of the ancient plateau. The peculiarity of these mountains is flat and truncated surface. For their shape, these hills were nicknamed "mesas".

Roraima stands out from the total mass of such mountain formations in that it is located on the border of 3 states - Venezuela, Brazil and Guyana. In addition, this mountain is considered the highest tepui and reaches almost 3 thousand meters.

The top of the mountain is constantly covered with clouds, which is why frequent and heavy rainfall falls on its surface. Water flows down to the ground in waterfalls and remains on Roraima, dotting it with lakes, rivers and swamps. Tourists come here to climb Roraima and appreciate its mystical power. From the top of the mountain, a striking view opens up, giving the impression that a person is among the clouds.

Maldives

The Maldives archipelago consists of 1000 coral islets, united into atolls - a chain of islands in the shape of a semicircle. Tourists rightfully call the Maldives “heaven on earth”. People come here for a feeling of lightness and tranquility.

The islands are distinguished by the cleanest beaches with fine white sand and azure coast, washed by the warm ocean. In the Maldives, you can find colorful gardens with exotic flowers, see unusual animals and enjoy the abundance of greenery.

Vaadhoo Beach is especially beautiful. At night, the coastline is covered with thousands of glowing blue lights. This is due to the local species of plankton, which has luminescent properties. A similar sight resembles a scattering of night stars reflecting on the surface of the ocean.

Machu Picchu in Peru

Machu Picchu or "city in the clouds" is one of the main attractions of Peru. The mysterious settlement was built in the Middle Ages by the Inca tribe to protect against the Spanish conquistadors. It is known that the conquerors never made it to this place, and all the inhabitants once mysteriously disappeared.

The city is located high in the mountains, and the road here was inaccessible for a long time. Later, researchers discovered a path through the valley. Not only the view of the green mountain landscapes is striking, but also the architecture of this place itself. Strong buildings were built without any additional funds except stone.

The city structure has a clear structure. There are temples, squares and other important elements of city life. Now Machu Picchu receives tourists from all over the world almost all year round, and the main inhabitants of the city are llamas and alpacas.

Monument Valley in the USA

The Monument Valley area belongs to the Navajo Native American Reservation. The area itself is a plateau with bizarre hills. These sandstone formations previously filled the entire valley, and in ancient times the entire area was occupied by a prehistoric sea.

Over time, the sandstone, under the influence of winds and rains, turned into shale, which made the rocks stronger. This place attracts travelers with a variety of monuments. Some of them look so unusual that they seem to be handmade. However, all the rocks in the Monument Valley are of natural origin.

Many of the hills have acquired names thanks to the imagination of tourists. This area also remained unnoticed for Hollywood directors, who used the Valley for the filming of many Westerns.

Zhangye colored rocks

Zhangye Danxia National Park in China is famous for its colorful hills. Geologists claim that this place was once a huge reservoir. After its disappearance, the rock and sandstone oxidized, acquiring an outlandish color.

The color of the rocks is dominated by brown and red shades, alternating with yellow, blue and green. The very shape of the rock formations, which received it under the influence of weather conditions, climate and time, is also surprising.

For the convenience of visitors, safe footpaths were installed between the hills of the park and observation platforms... Most of the excursions take place before sunset, because it is at this time that the rocks take on a delightful view.

Halong Bay in Vietnam

The most beautiful places on the planet, photos of which have spread all over the world, necessarily include the Vietnamese Halong Bay. This area is a lagoon of incredible beauty, surrounded by a series of rock formations in the middle of sea waters.

Halong has over 1,800 small islands and cliffs. The nature of these places bewitches the inexperienced traveler, and the life of the indigenous people allows you to touch a foreign culture.

In the cliffs of the bay there are caves equipped for excursions. They are the most famous landmark of Halong. Each of the caves is unique and has its own characteristics, such as the presence of waterfalls and strange acoustic effects. Here tourists can not only admire exotic views, but also find a way to relax for every taste.

Halong Bay offers activities such as:

 • fishing;
 • diving;
 • sea cruises;
 • beach leisure;
 • visiting a floating village;
 • excursions to caves;
 • kayaking.

The most beautiful places on the planet that are not included in the rating

The most beautiful places on the planet, of course, are not limited to the points of the globe indicated in the rating. There are many incredible and attractive locations around the world.
