First flight by plane. First flight by plane - what you need to know. Registration and passport control procedure: we fly without surprises

Search for cheap flights

Flights by plane are not only convenient and safe, but also comfortable. However, this is not the case if you are flying for the first time. The first plane ride can be stressful if you don't know where to go and what to do. Let's consider how to behave after arriving at the airport.

What to do at the airport and how to get on board

Immediately after arriving at any airport, you need to find the check-in counter. If this is your first time on an airplane, just ask the airport staff how to find it. Your check-in counter will be with the logo of the airline you purchased your ticket. Then step by step instructions apply:

  1. At the front desk you need to show your itinerary receipt and passport. You will then be given a boarding pass, which serves as your boarding pass. Here you can also express your wishes about the place that you would like to take. To travel in the sky, many passengers ask for a window seat.
  2. Next, you will be directed to pre-flight inspection... An airline employee will examine your passport and boarding pass, and then send it on.
  3. This is followed by security control. Do not be intimidated by active employees and the metal detector. You will be asked to put all metal and small items in the basket, including mobile phone and decorations. Items are scanned using special equipment for the presence of prohibited items. You yourself will also go through the metal detector, and then you can collect your belongings.

If the airport staff have any questions for you, you will be asked to go to the personal security table. There is nothing wrong with this procedure, but try to communicate with people as correctly as possible. Most likely, your things will simply be screened again and you will be allowed to go further.

What to do with luggage and hand luggage

Inspection and passport control are carried out after you have dealt with your hand luggage and luggage. Luggage tags cling to the check-in counter and carry-on baggage... You take your hand luggage with you to the cabin of the aircraft, and the luggage is checked in on the luggage belt in the same place, next to the check-in counter. After arrival, you can collect your luggage by identifying it by the tag with your details.

International flights

If on domestic flights The inspection procedure is relatively simple, but on international flights it is complicated by the presence of the so-called customs corridor. What customs control, you will find out before departure. It is necessary to register for a flight after passing through customs control, that is, this will be the first procedure for you. When you arrive at the reception, you will be directed to one of the corridors:

  • the green corridor is intended for people who do not have things included in the customs declaration. These include alcohol and cigarettes, perfumes and some other things that you will be informed about at the reception;
  • the red corridor is for people who have these things. Only passengers who have paid the duty on the import of these items into the country are allowed on board.

After completing all pre-flight formalities, you can proceed to the waiting room. There you can wait for departure in a relaxed atmosphere. There are numerous cafes and restaurants, shops and other establishments at your service. There is also an information board for you to navigate by time and circumstances. The electronic scoreboard contains information through which gate your plane is taking off. Make sure you know where this gate is located in advance. When in doubt, cast aside fear and feel free to contact an airport employee, they will tell you everything in detail and show you - this is their job.

Where to go to board the plane

When the loudspeaker announces that your flight has started, go through the required gate. There you will see an airline employee who needs to present your boarding pass. He will tear off the control spine and return the document to you. Save it until you leave the plane - in any unforeseen situations you will need it.

Takeoff and Landing Procedure

When you board the plane, you will be met by the flight attendants - you can ask them any questions you are interested in, and also ask for help. If you can't find your seat right away, contact the flight attendant. Everyone is sympathetic to people who fly on an airplane for the first time. Once everyone is in their seats, the flight attendants can offer a pillow and blanket - you can take them or refuse them.

Immediately before takeoff, a briefing is given, during which you will be told what to do in case of an accident. Remember where the emergency exits are located, how to use the oxygen masks, and in what sequence to proceed.

How to behave during takeoff and landing will be presented in the form of a table for your convenience.

Some passengers suffer from congestion and pain in the ears during takeoff and landing. Chewing gum is recommended to minimize these sensations. You can also wear earplugs during the flight.

Flight Conduct

On the plane after take-off and before landing, you will have access to additional services, in particular:

  1. At some point, food will be delivered throughout the cabin. Before that, passengers are served drinks - you can choose the one that you like the most. Depending on the airline that serves you, the food can vary in quality, but it is usually quite varied and delicious.
  2. If you wish, you can ask the flight attendant for a newspaper or magazine if you have nothing to do during the flight.
  3. No one will stop you from watching a movie on your laptop, listening to music, or getting comfortable with a blanket and pillow.
  4. Some airlines offer Wi-Fi internet access for an additional fee.

You, in turn, do not forget about following the rules of the salon. It is forbidden to make noise or disturb other passengers in the cabin. Also, you must not eat food with a distinct smell: fish, pies, etc. All instructions of flight attendants must be followed strictly.

Thus, the first flight is not scary if you know what awaits you. In case of any misunderstandings, you can always contact the airport staff, they will promptly help in resolving any of your questions.

Some people don't fly planes just because they have never done so. This is not a fear of danger, not a fear of heights, but simply a panic in front of something unknown. And many do not understand what pleasure they are depriving themselves of, because flying is very pleasant and interesting, and most importantly - fast. And in many cases, this is the only way to get to the right place. You should not neglect technical progress, because horses and carriages, weeks and months of travel are already far in the past.

Personally, it wasn't the planes that scared me at first, but the airport. How to get into it, where to run, how not to confuse anything, and in general ... Let's imagine that you are at the airport for the first time. The procedure will be approximately the same, except that the inspection and passport control in some cases are reversed.

First time at the airport

What time do you need to arrive? Check-in starts two hours before departure. Why so early? You need to have time to go through a large number of procedures that take time. You can come even earlier, just in case. But it's better not later, especially if you are flying for the first time.

entrance

In our country, unlike many others, anti-terrorist security has been strengthened. Therefore, try to lay the time that you will spend on ... getting inside the airport. There are often queues. They will inspect you there and scan your belongings, even if you just came as a guide. You can go back, but you can only get back to the airport through security.

Scoreboard and registration area

Departures and arrivals are perhaps the most romantic object at the airport, and even more than once praised. The board shows the number, destination, time of flight departure. Be sure to check the flight number. Once we almost got confused with flights - which departed with a difference of 15 minutes.

Sometimes several flights can depart at the same time, also watch out. Another confusion is that airlines often operate codeshare flights. Do not be guided by the name of the airline, and sometimes even time is not an indicator. Direction and number are what you need to see. The scoreboard also indicates which check-in counter you need to go to and the state of check-in: is it open or, God forbid, is it over. Check-in for the flight, as I said, starts 2 hours before departure and ends 40 minutes before it.

Baggage preparation

I have not found any useful information about baggage preparation on any "good" portal.

Usually, “smart” life hackers write about prohibited items and the weight of luggage somewhere in paragraphs about inspection, not considering that we part with luggage much earlier, and this implies a completely different sequence of actions.

Baggage is flying separately from you

You can fly without luggage and put all your belongings in your carry-on baggage if the airline allows it. This is what I usually do, it greatly speeds up the separation from the airport upon arrival. In this case, your suitcase or backpack should fit in certain dimensions and not exceed the weight limit.

Large and oversized baggage

Dimensional - suitable for standard sizes. In Russian, a standard suitcase or bag. Oversized fits in weight, but not in size, and is issued separately. By the way, it is oversized baggage that is most often lost.

If you are concerned about this topic, then feel free to go to the airline's website and check what they can and cannot. No other way. Because different airlines treat baggage differently. It is clear that items such as a guitar, a huge box or a plasma TV can hardly be called oversized luggage. No separate money will be asked for registration of oversized baggage.

Extra bed

You can buy additional luggage space, it costs some money. But cheating has not been canceled, for example, Aeroflot's gold card allows you to carry two baggage free of charge at the same time, and, in principle, such a card is labor and envy.

Packaging

Suitcases are usually thrown on the plane in a rather barbaric way, so if you want to extend the life of your camping friend, you can pack it for a fee. The luggage will be wrapped with a special film by specially trained people in special places. It's easy to find them.

If you are carrying something of value, it is advisable to wrap your luggage. There are usually several packing rooms at the airport with different prices. Naturally, the most expensive ones are located closest to the main entrance. You will be wrapped for about 700 rubles, or 10-15 EUR. In addition to the official packers, there are also "spider-men" who will offer the same service 2-3 times cheaper. Wander a little around the airport, gazing meaningfully at the blades, and these adventurous sly ones will find you themselves.

Overweight

If you have (oh horror!) An advantage, then prepare the money. Well, the time for registration of additional baggage and excess weight will take from 20 to 40 minutes exactly.

Your baggage must pass in terms of dimensions and weight, as I said, permissible in a particular airline, and it is also advisable to put in it everything that cannot be taken on board, that is, liquids, aerosols, and sharp objects.

Feel yourself. Money, passport, other documents and boarding pass must be literally glued to yourself. In no case do not leave money in your luggage (there are also such cases), and without a passport, in principle, you will not fly far. It is best to keep such essential items in a small bag or pocket, in general, with you.

check in

You can check in for your flight from home in advance. This has certain advantages. For example, you can choose the best places in the airplane.

Registration is elementary, Watson. When checking in for a regular flight, they usually don't ask for anything but a passport: the employees already have all the data, because Big Brother has been following you for a long time ... Only once the Spaniards asked for a printout of my e-ticketbecause in their database my name was spelled with the wrong letter. But this is more the exception than the rule. At check-in, you temporarily say goodbye to your baggage. The luggage is put on a belt and weighed. After all this, you will be issued a boarding pass indicating your gate (exit), your seat on the plane and a baggage claim tag. Do not under any circumstances lose the landing gear. He is now your king and god.

You may be asked what you take on the plane. The belongings you bring on board are called hand luggage. Here's what shouldn't be in your carry-on baggage:

  • Liquids... Some people think that in principle nothing liquid should be brought on board, but this is not so. Up to 100 milliliters of any liquid substance can be safely carried with you.
  • Sharp, stabbing and cutting objects... If there are scissors, corkscrews and knives in your carry-on baggage, then most likely you will be asked to part with them during security. They found out about diabetics. Syringes are available. But in the presence of (quote) "a certificate from a doctor in free form."
  • Aerosols... All varnishes, pshikalki and sprinklers must fly in the luggage compartment.

Carry-on baggage can weigh up to 10 kilograms. The size requirements for all airlines are approximately the same. There are even special suitcases that fit the size of carry-on luggage. In fact, if you fly regular flight, almost anything can be carried on board. Once we were carrying a huge basket, a giant hoop the size of a hula hoop and ... straw sheaves. They were light, but voluminous, behind them we were almost invisible. However, Aeroflot employees were loyal to the sheaves and even wished us a good event.

In addition to a special suitcase, you can take a fairly large bag or backpack on board. Since we carry a bunch of props on business trips, all personal items are usually placed in a small purse.

Inspection

You can lose a lot of time at the screening, as there will be people hurrying not only for your flight. You take a special tray and put everything on it: carry-on luggage, things, gadgets, a laptop (in Europe they ask you to take it out of a bag and call it a laptop, for a minute!), All metal objects and shoes, if they have thick soles or heels. Here it is easy to part with liquids or aerosols if their volume exceeds the norm. For example, you are trying to smuggle a liter of shampoo - most likely it will be removed. Creams, gels, toxic substances, sharp objects - tell them "adyos" if you haven't put them in a suitcase. So we parted with Enterosgel at Heathrow airport, it was very strict there.

This whole story is connected, again, with anti-terrorist security, similar rules were introduced in 2007. On board (once again) - no more than 100 milliliters of liquid in total, that is, you can take with you a small cream, a spray for a runny nose, a perfume sample and a liquid for lenses, in general, a bunch of liquids, but the main thing is that there should be no more than a hundred ml. Yes, and it is advisable to forget about jokes about drugs and weapons. They don't understand jokes at the airport.

If you do not want to waste a lot of time and make yourself nervous, as well as embarrass aunts with sad faces and scanners in their hands, then in principle you should not hang on yourself all the iron jewelry left over from your gypsy grandmother, belts with massive buckles and put shoes on thick sole or heel: undress and undress like there is nothing to do. And this, you see, is not the most pleasant procedure. By the way, here is a link to a wildly funny video where a friend did not understand what they wanted from him, and was scanned along with his luggage.

Passport control

Keep your passport and boarding pass with you, preferably in your hand. It is also best to avoid silly jokes at passport control. Take pictures of the area passport control prohibited. Therefore, if something suddenly seemed funny to you (for example, your own face, and you washed yourself down), you will be asked to delete the photos.

The booth official may ask questions. For example, about the purpose of the trip. Will leaf through your passport in search of visas and stamps. Several times they made comments to me that, they say, I do not look at the border guard all the time, but poke around on my phone (it is better not to be distracted by anything outsider from this important process), and that the passport is stained (yes, I once dropped it in Kuru, and several seals have blurred). And you just might not like it. By the way, if you have a biometric passport or visa, you may be asked to put your finger on the infrared reader.

The waiting area

When I re-read my own text, I quickly replaced the word “desirable” with “required”. You absolutely must immediately find your gate (exit). It can be tricky sometimes. Sometimes special trains run between the gates, as in Madrid Barajas or London Heathrow. Sometimes they write terrible numbers: how many to go to the exits. Sometimes it is the number 15, that is, minutes. But exhale: this has never happened at Russian airports. Your ticket will show the exit number and boarding time, that is, the start time of boarding. It is better not to go far from the desired exit from sin, otherwise you can miss important information... The exit may change, the flight may be delayed, but you never know what else. Control the situation.

Usually there is something in the waiting area. For example, "Duty Free". There is no need to explain what duty-free is to a Russian tourist who, as a rule, begins to prepare for a vacation, drinking alcoholic drinks from this shiny, tasty smelling and shining market. The belief that duty-free is cheaper is just a belief. For example, alcohol and snacks are often more expensive than in supermarkets, cigarettes are sold only in blocks, and cosmetics correspond to market value. However, there is no doubt about the quality of the products. It is better to buy good perfume, professional cosmetics, gift wrapping of sweets at Duty Free. By the way, when you buy, you will be asked to present your landing gear, so do not move it far.

And, of course, there are all kinds of cafes in the waiting area. Unless you're in Berlin's Tegel, for example, which looks more like a place where purchases are packed at Ikea. It's not cheap to eat there, but I usually get water from the vending machine. The air is dry and thirsty. Anything purchased in this area is suitable for bringing on board.

Boarding the plane

Depending on the airport, your route from gate to board may be:

  • telescopic ladder,
  • bus,
  • on foot.

If the airport is small, you can walk, usually a short distance. Sometimes you have to wait for the bus, they are hot and crowded. Ideally, if you are walking on a telescopic ladder - this is an air bridge from the airport to the plane.

If you have a lot of carry-on luggage, it is better to get in line at the gate early so that you have time to take the luggage racks. Sometimes you may not be near free placesso you have to look for an empty shelf away from your chair. In smart airports, there is a division into groups so that queues for the gate are not created. In this case, your group number is also indicated on your boarding pass. But personally, I like to wait until the last: I jump on the gate when the bulk of the people have already entered the plane.

First time on a plane

And now you are so happy sitting on the plane and, perhaps, shaking with fear that this colossus is about to soar into the air. It won't happen overnight. You will pack for a while. The crew will prepare for a while. Then the beautiful stewardesses will start showing you how and what to do in an emergency. At this time, the plane will begin to move towards the runway. Previously, I always loved the moment of takeoff, when the iron bird accelerates so that it presses you into a chair, and then lifts off the ground, and now I often fall asleep before takeoff. The main thing is, if you're scared, get into a comfortable position. It's good luck if you have a pillow under your head with you, because external comfort and internal comfort are inseparable.

Places

As for the places inside the plane, there is a simple law: the closer you are to your head, the less you will be shaken in the turbulence. Turbulence, or bumpiness, is the vibrations of an aircraft caused by eddy currents of the wind, descending and outgoing. It's not scary. The usual bumpiness that occurs when flying through some types of clouds is not dangerous at all. The aircraft is designed to withstand the resulting overload. In general, when the plane shakes, this is not a technical breakdown, and the pilot has not gone crazy, it is just a temporary phenomenon that must be accepted and forgiven. And do not set yourself up for horror: many times I flew so that I did not shake at all. Since there is less shaking at the start of the plane, Business Class is located there.

As for “by the window or not by the window,” the point is controversial. If you have never flown, then it may seem to you that a fascinating picture in the window is going on throughout the entire flight. However, it is not. The most interesting thing is take-off and landing, when you see the city turned into a toy. And then the plane climbs and rises above the clouds. Outside the window there will be monotonous blinding white clouds if you fly during the day, or endless darkness if at night. If you are not a big fan of sticking your forehead into the wall and snoring, then there is no need for a window. There is nothing wrong with choosing an aisle seat - it is convenient to go to the toilet without stepping over sleeping neighbors.

Great if you are flying in a half-empty plane. After takeoff, when it is allowed to wander around the cabin, look in the tail section: there may be three free seats. I call it "reserved seat". You can stretch out on them, cover yourself with a blanket and sleep. No one will say a bad word to you - checked.

A special glamor at check-in is getting emergency exit seats. Ask and they will give if they are still free. On most aircraft, the next seat is very far away and the table slides out of the armrest. Of course, you will have a great responsibility to save passengers in the event of an emergency evacuation, since you will be the very first to exit there. But then you can stretch your legs and go crazy.

Food

It all depends, of course, on the airline and the features of the flight. If you have the option to register in advance, you may have been asked to select a menu as well. Major international airlines offer special menus, kosher or vegetarian. I haven’t tried to order the menu in advance, but I know it’s possible.

Once took a vegetarian lunch aboard British Airways. The quinoa, avocado and tofu salad tasted much better than a regular lunch that included a stale mayonnaise bun. However, in any case, do not expect culinary delights from the economy class. Unfortunately, it was not possible to fly in business class, but the initiates know that it is delicious there, especially if it is Aeroflot. Fortunately, the latter tastes good even in the economy, sometimes a red fish also fell.

The funniest airplane meal in my life was organized by the German Lufthansa daughter, Air Berlin. Unfortunately, they stopped flying from Moscow. For the rest of my life I have remembered a wonderful dry ration, consisting of very spicy chips and a glass of juice. And Air Moldova had the worst dinner: some kind of indistinct sandwich.

If you are flying in the afternoon or evening, your chances of eating better are much higher: at night and in the early morning, you can count on a bun to the maximum. Of course, a lot depends on the time of the flight. The usual proportion is the longer the flight, the more food will be given. Anyway, airplane food doesn't pretend to be incredible, so if you have the opportunity to grab something on the plane, grab it. There are usually no complaints about chocolate and cookies.

And, of course, it is worth saying that at altitude we eat and drink quite differently than on earth, the food seems to be tastier. By the way, there is a whole stereotype that tomato juice is most often drunk on the plane. Like, it seems to us tastier than on earth, and better quenches thirst. On the plane you want to drink constantly, because, again, the air in the cabin is very dry. Plus, filling tomato juice has a richer flavor that we like. It is better to always stock up on a bottle of water, most importantly, not before the inspection area, but after: the water purchased in the waiting area can be carried on board. As for alcohol, almost all international flights have wine, champagne and beer. Flight attendants may simply not offer you this. But if you have a keen desire to get drunk, ask, and they will arrange for you a can of good beer - checked by British Airways.

Takeoff and landing

If your plane took off and everything went well, you can relax until you land. According to statistics, 90% of aircraft malfunctions occur during takeoff and landing. That is why the singer Yolka passionately wishes the pilot to “take off well and land extremely well”. During takeoff and landing, they ask you to fasten your seat belts, bring the seat upright, remove the tables and open the curtains. All this is done so that in an emergency there are fewer obstacles to the implementation of the rescue program.

When an acquaintance flew with me for the first time, he very much did not like the maneuvers of the plane, when the board turns and turns out to be one wing lower and the other higher. If you saw this and were scared, know that nothing terrible happens at this moment, just the airplane turns.

If you fly to the resort, then most likely you will begin to descend directly over the blue waters. Again, panic in this case is unnecessary, the airports of the resorts are indeed located right on the shore. Dry land will appear, don't worry!

Some people think that the softness of the landing depends on the airline or aircraft type. Nothing of the kind, the pilot rules everyone, or rather the pilots, since usually the control is divided equally between them. Best of all, I was put in Montenegrin by the disliked, ruined and in every possible way notorious airline Kogalymavia, when they had a contract with the operator TUI.

An important detail: timing correctly. As soon as the plane lands, for some time it will go on takeoff, circle around the airport until it stops. Some more time will pass before you are released from the plane. Another half hour (or more) will take passport control on an international flight and baggage claim on any. Therefore, you should not order a taxi by the time of arrival.

Don't jump up and run out of the plane right there. You don't even have to get up. You will wait for a while for the doors to open. new country».

At the airport of the country of arrival

Next, you will find almost everything the same as on departure: a ladder or bus, passport control and baggage claim. Join the queue that says All Passports and you will be stamped (finally!) With the name of the airport. Next, we go along the arrows to the luggage, which probably already missed you as much as you missed it. Above the baggage tape, they usually write the flight number and where the plane came from, so it's hard to make a mistake. In addition, it is very rare that two or more planes arrive minute per minute, so you are sure to go where the most people are. If the airport is already very large, then there is a board indicating where to look for luggage.

If the tape has already scrolled hundreds of times, and your suitcase has not appeared, and even all the passengers have left, then something is wrong here. Then you go to the representatives of your airline with the boarding spine (it is on it the tag with the number of your luggage) and most likely everything goes well. Well, then you, stamped, dirty and happy, can go to the exit (along the arrows) and begin to conquer new lands!

I hope you were able to learn something new about air travel and now look forward to the moment when the flight attendant announces that your plane is ready to take off.

Airplane, registration, metal detectors, long queues - everything is so complicated. Where to go? What to do? Let's figure it out and put it in a simple way of what and when to do when flying for the first time.

To begin with, we will clearly define the mandatory procedures at the airport:

  • Check in;
  • Customs control;
  • Passport control;
  • Security control;
  • Boarding the plane.

check in

Information table

The first thing to do at the airport is to find the information board. As a rule, it is visible at the entrance to the terminal building. Find your flight number on this board. The destination of several flights may coincide, the departure time may be changed, so we search strictly by the flight number. For more information on how to navigate and what information can be found on the online scoreboard at the airport, read here.

You need to go to check-in only after the inscription appears opposite your flight number check-in... If there is an inscription on-time, it means the flight will depart on schedule and there are no changes. Also written next to the registration start time. If the flight is delayed, an inscription appears delayed and until the inscription lights up check-in registration is not allowed.

Check-in starts 3 hours before departure and ends 30-45 minutes, so if you are going to fly for the first time and do not know what and how, arrive early! After the inscription appeared check-in a check-in counter number will be assigned.

Reseption

We check again the flight number, what is the number of the check-in counter and go to where the queue is smaller. We provide a ticket and our own passport at the reception. If the ticket was purchased electronically, you only need to show your passport. You can also register online. For more details on the registration procedure for the plane,.

You can choose a seat in the salon at the front desk. If you are not afraid of heights, choose a place by the window, if you are afraid to look through the clouds - in the aisle. If you are tall, choose an emergency exit seat, there more space for legs.

We weigh luggage and hand luggage near the counter on the scales. After weighing, a barcode tag is attached to the baggage. On arrival you will receive your luggage using these tags. After you have been given a boarding pass and tags from your baggage, check-in is over.

customs control

If you have an international flight, you need to go either along the green corridor or along the red one. The point is that there are things that are subject to duty. A list of items falling into this category can be found in advance.

Green corridor, indicated by a green sign with the inscription nothing to declare... Go there if you have no duty items.
The red corridor is for those with taxable items. We go through and fill out the customs declaration. There are many nuances, so it's best to prepare for filling in advance.

Passport control

This stage takes a couple of minutes, you need to provide a passport if the flight is within the country, and an international passport if the flight is international.

Security control

This is an extreme check that identifies the presence of prohibited items using metal detectors, scanners and visual inspection. To pass this stage of verification, you need to lay out all your metal objects and electronic devices. Outerwear, hats and footwear are also checked. Shoe covers are given instead of shoes. Then the passenger goes through the metal detector, and if no violations are found, all things are returned to him.

Boarding a plane

That's all, the checks passed, and we find ourselves in the waiting area for boarding. After the announcement of boarding the plane, you should go to the exit gate... This number is shown on your boarding pass. After checking the boarding pass, you will be left with a spine indicating the location. The row number and a letter are written on the spine. The seat markings can be found above the seats. If you suddenly have any questions, you can always contact the flight attendants.

Here you know what to do and where to go at the airport. As in any other unfamiliar place, communication will always help. If in doubt, ask your neighbor to the right or left. As the saying goes: "Language will bring to Kiev!" Also, Ticket Aero has prepared a memo for its travelers: how to navigate at the airport if you do not speak the language. Perhaps she will become your assistant.

Enjoy your travels and a fair wind!

For traveling to distant countries, the most convenient way movement - air transport. But those who are at the airport for the first time need to know what to expect. In addition, many are frightened not so much by the first flight on the plane, but by the passage of all the procedures before it. Therefore, to deal with everything easier, see the step-by-step instructions.

Activities at the airport

After buying a ticket, you need to collect things that you need to take with you. The suitcase must be collected no later than a day before leaving for the airport. And you need to go there a few hours before the flight, about 2-3 hours in order to have time to go through all the procedures.

Arrival

Once at the airport for the first time, you can get lost, since most stations are large enough, and it can be difficult to find the right counter or your terminal. Therefore, before arriving, you must study the data on the ticket.

At almost all air terminals, a security check begins at the entrance. Even those who see off and meet him pass by. To do this, all bags and the contents of the pockets will need to be placed on the scanner tape, and you will need to go through the metal detector frame yourself.

In order not to delay the already long queues, in advance put all your personal belongings in a separate backpackwhich will also be scanned.

check in

You can find the required check-in counter on the flight schedule board. It looks like a large electronic board showing all the nearest departures. In addition, the airline logo always hangs above the counters, making it easy to find.

Having approached the registration, you must show the employee your passport and ticket. Sometimes they may also be asked to show the visa of the country of arrival and return tickets. After checking, a boarding pass is issued, which must be kept before leaving the airport upon arrival.

Luggage is also handed over there, which is first weighed and then given a baggage tag. To fit into norms free carriage check with the airline in advance and check the weight of your suitcase.

During check-in with some carriers, you can choose your seat in the cabin of the airliner. But not knowing the location of the seats, it is difficult to deal with the seats. Therefore, you can ask to pick up an employee's seat or first look at the layout of the cabin.

If you have to fly for a long time, it is better to take a seat in the first row or emergency exits... There is increased legroom.

Inspection

For many who are at the airport for the first time, it is the inspection that scares most of all. But there is nothing terrible in it, and this is done for security reasons. The procedure takes a long time - at least 30 minutes, excluding waiting in queues.

Pre-flight inspection is similar to the control at the entrance to the airport, but here it is more thorough. All things with you, along with hand luggage, must be put on the scanner tape and personally go through the frame.

In some cases, employees perform manual searches. This happens if the metal detector starts to beep when a person passes, or if employees personally suspect it. It is also important to know that if you have a pacemaker, you cannot pass through the frame; in this case, a body search is also carried out.

To get on board, you better not try to carry prohibited items. They will always be found with the subsequent removal of such a passenger from the flight.

customs control

This procedure is carried out on international flights. If the flight is domestic, only documents are checked.

At customs control, you must choose a corridor - green or red. The first is open in cases when the passenger does not have items to declare with him, and the second is the other way around. This is due to the rules of the countries of exit and entry, so it is worth studying them in advance.

When leaving the country, the border service checks the passport and visa. At this stage, they can also ask typical questions - the purpose of the visit and how much money the passenger has with him. There are countries where you cannot get without a certain amount on your bank card.

Waiting for flight

As soon as the security checks are passed, everyone is admitted to the waiting room, where you can visit cafes and duty-free shops Duty Free... While waiting for an invitation to board a plane, the main thing is to keep an eye on the scoreboard and voice messages so as not to miss your flight.

Boarding

The sign "GATE" serves as a guide to the correct way to the exit. But most often there are several exits at the air terminals, so the number of the desired door can be found on the ticket. When the boarding is announced, the passenger presents the boarding pass, and the airline employee leaves only a stub with information about the seat on board.

The airline can arrange delivery to the liner by bus. Sometimes you have to walk or go through a telescopic ladder. It all depends on the range of the aircraft and the specific airport.

Passengers are met by a stewardess, indicating the approximate position of the seats. Before take-off, depending on the duration of the flight, amenity kits with blankets, pillows, slippers and other things are given out. Also, when all passengers are already seated in their seats, the flight attendants give instructions on the rules of conduct during the flight and in emergency situations.

Actions on the plane

For beginners, the main thing is to listen carefully to the requirements of the stewards - they announce the need to buckle up, remove the table, bring the chair to its initial position, open or close the window. It is imperative to do all this, since this reduces various risks during the flight.

Takeoff and landing

These are the two most important phases of the flight, which depend not only on the professionalism of the pilots, but also on the behavior of the passengers. If you are afraid of planes and heights, you need to behave according to the established rules. During takeoff and landing:

  • The chair must be in an upright position.
  • Passengers should buckle up and tighten the belt.
  • The windows must be closed, and all equipment must be brought into flight mode or turned off altogether.

Some have their ears popped when climbing, so stewardesses offer candy or gum. This is due to the fact that swallowing movements help relieve tension.

In flight

Internet on airplanes is usually very expensive, so you can download a movie, TV series, music or read a book in advance for entertainment. On some liners, monitors are built into the backs of the seats, on which films are broadcast.

Also keep in mind that the air on board is very dry. You can use nasal drops and moisturizer to avoid discomfort.

During flights, drinks and set meals are provided for everyone, depending on the range. But it is permissible to take a light snack with you - sandwiches, chips, bars, apples, nuts.

Do not worry about the safety of air travel, since this type of transport, according to statistics, is one of the safest. And the difficulties of passing check-in and inspection at the airport are encountered only for the first time. Therefore, always be attentive and remain calm to start your journey in a good mood.

Are there many Russians among Russians who have never flown an airplane in their life? According to sociological surveys in 2009 - almost half. Until recently, you were one of them, but now, at will or by necessity, go to heaven? You have many new and interesting experiences ahead!

The first trip by plane is not only a storm of emotions, but also many practical tasks. You need to remember a thousand details: what to take with you, how much to come to check-in, where to go at the airport ... A person with little experience often gets confused in little things and forgets about them out of excitement. This guide is intended for novice travelers - it can greatly facilitate pre-flight preparation.

Check-in for a flight opens on average three hours before departure and ends about 40-50 minutes before it. Most airlines recommend that passengers arrive at the airport 3-2.5 hours before departure. It's better to do it the first time. The later you arrive at the airport, the more hustle and bustle there will be. If you know that there is still a lot of time left, then you will not rush and worry.

Some companies offer a service such as online check-in for flights over the Internet. As a rule, it opens one day before the flight. In this situation, you can check in for the flight while at home or at work - you only need a computer with internet. To do this, go to the website of your airline. After successful registration, the system will generate a boarding pass, which you must print out. The airport has a separate check-in counter for online checked-in passengers where you can drop off your baggage.

If registration via the Internet is not available to you for some reason or simply confuses you, you can use the traditional form upon arrival at the airport. At the check-in counter, you choose a seat on the plane and drop off your luggage. You need to be especially careful here. If you are flying in economy class, you have the right to carry no more than 20 kg of baggage for free, in business class - no more than 30 kg... He is weighed at the front desk. Please note that the weight of the suitcase is not separated from the weight of the luggage. If you are carrying a lot of things (18-19 kg), the suitcase should be as light as possible. Otherwise, an overweight may occur, which you will pay additionally at the airline's fares. Information about how much the overweight is usually posted at the check-in counter.

Some of the things you can take with you into the cabin of the plane - this is the so-called carry-on baggage. First of all, this applies to fragile electronic equipment: laptop, camera, camcorder. It is strongly discouraged to check them in as baggage - there is a high risk that things will be damaged on the way. The same goes for fragile souvenirs.

It is prohibited to carry in carry-on baggage:

Liquids in bottles over 100 ml;

Flammable and explosive substances (acetone, hairspray);

Stabbing and cutting objects (knives, nail scissors);

Heavy items that exceed the established weight limit for carry-on baggage. Information about these restrictions is usually available on the airline's website, and it is useful to inquire about this at home, while stowing your luggage.

It is easy to guess that it is better to divide things into luggage and hand luggage at home, a day or two before the trip, and not at the check-in counter at the airport.

After registration, you need to go through a number of procedures: customs control (on international flights), passport control and security screening. When leaving Russia, you must enter in the declaration cultural values, weapons, gems and some other goods. But other countries have their own rules and regulations. It is better to find out which goods need to be declared at a foreign customs office in advance, via the Internet or special customs directories.

If you are flying on an international flight, you must present a valid passport at passport control. You will need an internal passport of the Russian Federation only when flying within Russia, in international flights you can not take it at all.

The security service is monitored as follows. You take off your shoes, put your shoes, carry-on luggage and outerwear in a special tray. Then go through the metal detector, and your belongings at the same time pass through the X-ray scanner. It is also better to prepare for security control in advance: take off metal jewelry, a jacket with a metal zipper, remove a belt from trousers, keys, a cell phone, put small iron money in a bag or wallet.

"Will I 'beep' if I have dental crowns?" - this question often worries passengers flying for the first time. As a rule, modern metal detectors do not respond to crowns made of cobalt-chromium and gold-platinum alloy, since the mass of dentures is small. There is also no need to remove gold earrings and wedding rings in front of the "frame" - most metal detectors do not focus on small amounts of gold. But cigarettes or condoms on a metal detector most often "squeak", so it is also better to put them out of your pockets. The packaging of these items contains aluminum, and most "frames" are sensitive to this metal.

Be careful when selecting items in your carry-on baggage if you are flying with a dock. Some foreign airports have very strict security rules (in particular, this applies to the countries of the European Union, where, for example, mascara may be seized at security control).

What to do after all procedures are completed? As a rule, passengers start to get on the plane about 40 minutes before departure. If there is at least an hour left before departure, you can walk around the airport and go to duty free shops. IN major airports there are several of them, and the assortment in them may be different. A long flight ahead - more than four hours? Then it's all the more worth taking a walk. You will have time to sit in a chair, moreover, by the end of the flight you will already want to get up.

No need to queue up for boarding an hour before departure. If you go to the plane by bus, the winner is the one who gets there last, not the first. Those standing at the beginning of the queue will enter the cabin first only if a “sleeve” is supplied to the plane (this is a metal “gut” from the gate to the plane). So do not worry - in any case, you will get on the plane and sit in the seat you received.

What clothes should I wear to fly? The temperature in the cabin of an aircraft usually fluctuates around 22 degrees + - 2 points. You need to focus on the season. If the weather is cold at the departure airport and hot at the point of arrival, dress compactly. It is better to leave fur coats and sheepskin coats at home - in economy class chairs they will only bother you, especially if the flight is long. A winter jacket that can be taken off, rolled up and packed into a large bag is ideal. By the way, such clothes can be useful in the opposite situation - if you are flying "from summer to winter." The package with the jacket can be taken into the cabin as carry-on luggage and dressed after landing. It is easy to guess that it is better not to check in warm clothes in such a situation.

Many travelers, traveling "from winter to summer", take a package with light shoes and clothes to the salon. You can change clothes right in the toilet of the plane. It's not very comfortable, but still better than being in a winter jacket in the tropical sun.

You need to take care not only of clothes, but also of shoes. It is extremely hot to fly in warm winter boots, so take warm socks into the cabin in the cold season. It will be much more comfortable for your feet. It is strongly not recommended to wear tight shoes during the flight. It increases the already considerable load on the vessels of the lower extremities, while the risk of venous thrombosis also increases.

remember, that the air in the aircraft is very dry. If you wear contact lenses, it is worth taking eye drops with you on the flight, as when the mucous membrane dries, unpleasant painful sensations appear. On long flights, it is better to travel with glasses.

Don't drink a lot of alcohol when flying for the first time! First, you need to know how your vestibular system will respond to the movement of the aircraft. Occasionally, beginner air travelers experience nausea or dizziness when climbing or turning. And in this case, drunk alcohol can enhance the body's natural reactions.

If you have already experienced motion sickness, choose a seat near the wing, take more sour candy with you to the cabin and do not drink alcohol - it can increase nausea and dizziness. Also, the proven remedy for motion sickness, which you have already used before, will not be superfluous.
