More ▾ So let's start - dates 7.01.14-17.01.14 - operator Travel Professional Group (TPG), tour operator Mansana, flight Rosa Vetrov-charter, hotel Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro, insurance from Travel Professional Group - European Travel Insurance.
Family composition - 2 adults and 2 children - 6, 5 and 1, 8 years old.
Departure from Kiev was delayed by 40 minutes, but we were at the place even an hour earlier than the arrival time.
Group transfer and we were at the hotel reception at about 11 am - checked in at 17-00 pm - the last!
So, it all started with the reception)
Background:
The hotel area consists of 5 hotels - Gran Bahia Principe Ambar, Gran Bahia Principe Esmeralda, Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro and Gran Bahia Principe Punta cana Gran and Bahia Principe Premer - the hotel stretches inland, so the hotel is located, as it were, one after the other - that is, first the luxury Barn and Esmeralda, then the mirror-like Bavaro and Punta Cana and the last Premier.
In the month of November, having booked on the advice of the operator (not Manzana) Bahia Principe Premer as a children's hotel, which has a "baby" package in the rooms in the form of bathrobes for children, milk in the minibar and small similar items for children.
But we could not find reviews of this particular hotel in the Gran Bahia Principe chain ... A month before departure, we still found a review, which said that the hotel is located in the chain, but it is the most extreme to the road, that is, it takes about 20 minutes to the ocean. on foot, but trains often go, but we thought that with a stroller it was not a very convenient option for us and turned to the tour operator with a request to replace the Bahia Principe Premer hotel with the Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro hotel, which is located in close proximity to the ocean and walk to it 5 -7 minutes) Tour operator requesting free places and taking from us a surcharge in the amount of about $ 900, he rebooked us a hotel. (as it turned out on the spot, the rooms in these 2 hotels cost the same - and this is just a lottery where you will be accommodated - many gave at the reception for $ 100-200 and they were moved to the hotel Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro) - the advantage is the proximity to the beach, the main restaurant and the rooms themselves are newer - a four-poster bed, plasma and good new plumbing)
The voucher clearly states the name of the Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro hotel and the name of the Family suit, but at the reception we were immediately put on the Premiere bracelets (even before check-in to visit restaurants) with which we were not allowed to enter the main restaurant ... we suspected something was wrong and went to figure it out ... - we were told that we did buy a Premier - and that the inscription on the Bavaro voucher does not mean anything and there is simply no Family Suit category in Bavaro. Rather, there are, but they are called Superior suit - that is, we have a mistake in the voucher - which was made by the operator and therefore we are accommodated in the Premier ... there were 20 of us like that from Ukraine ... at the reception they did not want to hear anything about our surcharges or about The name of the hotel is written in the voucher ... the guide of the host of Terramara - Elena - behaved strangely - she did not take any part in the negotiations at all - at all! Barely calling her, she still arrived - announced that she had written a letter to Kiev and was waiting for what they would say, she did not even try to talk to the hotel staff. Let me remind you that it was Christmas - a day off and the time difference ... it was already late evening in Kiev, that is, she knew perfectly well that now in Kiev no one would decide anything and only she could provide us at least some assistance in negotiations, but no - she just told us about this turned around and left without even trying to help (((
As a result, we were settled in the Premier at 17-00, the last and only of all with 2 children after a 12-hour flight ... By the way, there were no baby "packages" in the Premier) no milk, no bathrobes - nothing!
Having spent a lot of money and time in the next 2 days on negotiations with Kiev operators, after 2 nights we were moved to the right hotel ...
After 2 days, the youngest girl was poisoned, they ate only the maximum baby food ... they called the number in the insurance and got into the Travel Professional Group ... why? It is not clear - after all, they called the insurance company ... after long songs and melodies they dictated the number of the insurance company ... they called back the insurance company European Travel Insurance - they told our coordinates and called the doctor for the child 1, 8, stipulating that we had poisoning and the child had vomiting and diarrhea ... that in 5 minutes they will call back and inform when the doctor arrives ... After 2 hours (!!!) without waiting for the call, we called back again ... again a new operator - 2 hours of data clarification and again - “in 5 minutes we will call back and say when the doctor arrives” ... And ALL! Not a call ... we are seasoned parents - we managed it ourselves - and we have the drugs ready, but the fact itself - how can it be - after all, a doctor is needed little child! We made 3 calls for 5-7 minutes, having spent a lot of money on empty conversations - we never saw the doctor, we did not wait for the call (((
The next day I was poisoned ... the next day the eldest daughter ...
We informed our guide about such poisoning - she reacted calmly, said that everyone here was poisoned and almost every 3 of her tourists were poisoned here (((
These are our operators and insurance ... the impressions of the quality of service are just awful (
Resume about the country itself)
I really liked the Dominican Republic as a country (oddly enough)
Green and bright, very comfortable weather - in our period it rained every day, but in the morning for 5 minutes, the wind near the ocean is sometimes strong, but very warm - it is very comfortable to lie and for children - it does not soar, there are waves, often with small algae - they really are immediately removed from the beach, but they remain in the ocean), in principle, there is no discomfort) the ocean is warm)
There are always sun loungers on the beach - despite the fact that the hotel was packed - you can always find a sun lounger, of course you need to take it under an umbrella at 7 o'clock, but this is also not a problem)
Cuisine ... very monotonous and relatively small assortment. There is nothing to feed the children - absolutely - in the evening even mashed potatoes cannot be found (Everything is breaded and in a heap of sauces (
The animation is average - it is there, but not a direct theater)) who wants to always find something to do)
Very weak children's animation - there is practically no children's disco - this is one sad animator and 5 children - although there are hundreds of them in the hotel.
No peacocks and other animals walked around the territory.
Russians and Ukrainians are often ignored, and at the reception and at the bar, first of all, Europeans and Americans will be served - this is very offensive ...
So the hotel is solid 3-4 with a stretch - and all because of the staff - the territory itself, the beach and the rooms are, in principle, good, but the staff, the kitchen, spoil everything (
Well, our operators distinguished themselves ... we will definitely return to the Dominican Republic to a decent hotel, but already without our operators.

The hotel is excellent, but with the ocean, no luck.
Hotel Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana 5 *, in which we rested, is part of a chain of hotels that are located on the same vast territory in Punta Cana.

1.Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana 5 *
2.Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro 5 *
3.Grand Bahia Principe Turquesa 5 *
4.Grand Bahia Principe Aquamarine (ex.Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar Green) 5 *
5.Luxury Bahia Principe Esmeralda 5 *

Tourists from the first three hotels can easily move around each other's territories, but they can no longer go to the luxury ones. Tourists from luxury options can enter all territories.
At the entrance to each territory, there is a guard, and the bracelets look to see if people are going there. Do not stand with a wall and let one pass through, but look out of the corner of your eye so as not to strain, this is important.

Each hotel is equipped with its own lobby, its own restaurant. Each has its own territory, very large and beautiful.
There are always open cars that take people to the beach, to their villas, to the lobby and back. Transport is like an open steam locomotive, everything is very comfortable and with stops.

In luxury versions, cars are smaller and personal, with a maximum of 4 seats.

Food at the hotel.

Every day the name of the cuisine is written on the restaurant, the dishes of which will prevail today. We got into Mediterranean (sea), Italian, Dominican and Japanese cuisine. Moreover, every (!!) day there was pizza, and the opportunity to make tacos, and bananas in different forms, and pasta, and seafood.
Seafood has always been there, but the largest amount (seafood paella, hot mussels, various shells, fish, red, including squid) was at the bottom of the Mediterranean cuisine. On other days, there was always fish, paella and some kind of shells, squid. For breakfast, red (slightly salted) fish was served every day. There were no shrimps in their pure form (without sauce), but later they will be mentioned in the story about A la carte restaurants.

Fruit!
Mango, papaya, melon, watermelon, pineapple, guava, bananas, passionfruit, tangerines - were there every day. But the mango was usually laid out at the very beginning, and it left the very first. It was not always the mango that was reported, so it was lucky, mainly because it came at the beginning. Less often there were other fruits, but I do not remember all, unfortunately.

The rest of the dishes.
I can say that anyone can have a delicious meal at this hotel. And those who are losing weight, and those who want to eat a lot and tasty (including junk food, such as ribs), and those who came for fruits, meat or seafood - here will find something for themselves.

Here are sample meals at different meals.

Breakfast: pancakes (3 types), pancakes, Belgian waffles (with nuttela, honey, etc. to choose from), croissants, pastries, a lot of manipulations with eggs, "make your own sandwich" from sausage / ham / red fish / cheese / pieces of salad and in general anything and with any bread. Porridge came across, but it was spicy and too runny. Next, fruits, yoghurts, baked bananas, mashed potatoes and sooooo many different options for the rest of the meal. The only thing that upset me a little is that there is no person making the smoothies. There were transparent "samovars" in which there was juice. But we did not fully understand whether it was freshly squeezed or not. Watermelon, melon, papaya seemed freshly squeezed, no orange. As a result, they drank water or coffee with milk more often. There is also, of course, cocoa and tea for every taste.

Lunch: fried cheese, baked tomatoes, various side dishes, various meats and fish (dorado, salmon, for example), pasta, a lot of "pick it yourself" or eat ready-made salads, soups (gazpacho, tomato, vegetable, with chicken, mashed potatoes) , seafood. You could always get yourself a burger, hot dog. There were sausages, ribs, wings, a lot of vegetables in different types, pizza (not dry, a lot of cheese and toppings, in general, constant hot, as they disassemble and prepare new ones). Delicious desserts and cakes and pastries and cookies. There were also warm pies under the lid, sometimes marshmallows. Several types of ice cream with lots of toppings to choose from.

Dinner: Was very similar to lunch but with an emphasis on the cuisine, which was announced at the entrance on a particular day. On the day of Japanese cuisine, there were rolls (pink, blue, even yellow), fish, rice dishes more than usual. On the day of Italian, there was everything from a bunch of types of cheese cuts, prosciutto, pasta and pizza, to tomato soup with croutons. In a day Dominican cuisine handed out coconuts for free)

Waiters always offer water, stronger drinks, all polite, not arrogant.

A la carte restaurants.
We were only in two: Japanese and Mediterranean. The first had sushi, fish, banana desserts, tempura ice cream. The atmosphere is good but the menu is loud and boring. Struck by the Mediterranean restaurant. I don’t know if they would have carried the oysters if we had sat a little longer. But even without them, everything that was brought to us on the menu and everything that was in the buffet caused delight. Those shrimps without sauce were also there. Photos will tell you everything themselves). Various cheeses, soups, cold cuts and desserts were also there.

At the end of the paragraphs about food, I would like to say that the buffet restaurant itself is very beautiful, everything is clean. It was even embarrassing to sit there in shorts or beach (clean, no sand) shoes. There were places for snacks - snack bars, but we never ate there. Near the pools there are drinks for every taste. You can come up to pour yourself, or ask to make a cocktail. Or just ask for water or juice. Everything that is not in bottles, but in ordinary (glass / plastic) glasses is given free of charge. Mini-bar in the room in the refrigerator is free, refilled once a day.

Cleaning every day, everything is fine, towels are changed.

The territory of the hotel.
Everything is grandiose, there is simply no other word for it. Palm to palm, flower to flower, there is no rubbish anywhere. Free entertainment: tennis (by appointment), children's water park, mini golf, soccer field, basketball hoop. There is rope park(didn’t go, maybe it’s for money), many locations with swings for children. There is billiards, table football, table tennis - but it was for the money and was empty.
There are many shops on the territory of the hotel, not shops, but "civil" ones. But also the prices, you know)

Ocean and sun lounger area.
The sun lounger area is divided into hotels (each hotel has a different color bracelet). More beautiful sun loungers in the suites, our hotel had blue standard sun loungers. Sometimes the workers watched who was lying where, approached and asked to go to their sun loungers. And sometimes not. There was no anger / pressure from the hotel staff, but the tourists sometimes got offended, said that they got lost and did not understand where they lay down.
The ocean upset most of all.
Our trip began on the Caribbean coast and ended on the Atlantic. And so the whole ocean was covered in seaweed. It's not about two meters near the shore, it's about algae, which instead of people and together with people swam on the waves. To my surprise, there were always a lot of people in the ocean. And to my disappointment, there were just an incredible amount of people on the beach. It was uncomfortable, especially in comparison with the Caribbean side, where walking to the right or left along the coast, you simply found yourself practically alone, without people, and even in clear blue / blue water. In the photo I tried to capture all the "beauty" of the ocean with algae. The algae that lie on the shore are constantly removed, but for the overall picture, this does not really matter.

As for the weather, everything was fine. It rained once, but it was just as hot and the rain was shallow and five minutes. It doesn't matter if there are clouds, there are no clouds - it was always warm, hot in places and very comfortable.

I can’t say anything about entertainment programs, we didn’t go to watch them.

In the end, I would like to say about the strangeness of the hotel. Check-in at 15.00. We arrived earlier, and we were offered to move in (at 11 am, immediately) for $ 40. But since the bracelets were put on right away, we decided that we could have lunch and swim anyway, so we refused, and the time until three flew by unnoticed.
But there is a big BUT. Until you are checked into a room and given a card where the identifier + room number is written, Wi-Fi will NOT work on your devices. And yes, free wifi only in the hotel lobby. Upon delivery of the number, the Wi-Fi is also immediately cut off. Inconvenient, but tolerant for those who are not very addicted)

Mosquitoes were in the evening. But we did not see people bitten from head to toe or in spots.

We had a honeymoon, and they gave us gifts, in the form of a handbag, a thermo mug with the logo of the hotel. Also, they decorated the doors with ribbon and balls, and the bed with petals. And they put champagne and chocolates in the room. It was nice)

The room has a free safe, which fit a 15 "laptop.

We didn’t go outside the hotel territory, we only drove out, and we didn’t see any shops nearby where you could buy fruit with you. They met already far from the hotel, where I would not recommend going on my own (about 2 km from the hotel).

I recommend the hotel for food, grounds and entertainment. I don’t know about other months, but at the beginning of November the ocean can ruin your mood for rest, and for those who like to swim, the rest itself. To the right and left of the hotel along the shore, seaweed and a crowd were also there.

For a long time going to Dominican Republic, confused only by the long flight and finally decided. For the rest we chose Gran Bahia Principle - the hotel turned out to be heavenly. The territory is huge, they did not have time to get around everything. Several swimming pools, a water park for children, mini golf, a mini-club, a gym - the richest infrastructure! There was also decent free internet in the hotel lobby, though only for one hour from one device - it was enough for correspondence with relatives. The food at the hotel is a buffet, and the variety of dishes was really off the charts. Meat, seafood, vegetables and fruits on the menu were full of abundance. I especially liked the Dominican ice cream, some of it is especially tasty! At lunch and dinner, drinks are served by waiters, and they worked very quickly and accurately. Every evening we had a themed dinner, plus there are 6 different restaurants on site (visiting them by appointment) - we liked Japanese and Mexican. Bars and eateries were also open by the pools and on the beach - in general, it was impossible to stay hungry in the hotel! The coast and the ocean are gorgeous. The sand on the beach is powdered sugar, it's a pleasure to walk! There are a lot of sun loungers and umbrellas, and you can also take kayaks for an hour, of course, if the weather is normal. We were not very lucky with the weather. At the beginning everything was super, no waves, no algae - the water surface is like glass, and in the end it was impossible to enter the water, only the sea flora did not interfere with the buoys' swimming. But this did not spoil the rest. The Dominican Republic amazed us with its beauty and hospitality.

My daughter and I rested here for 10 days. We stopped in after lunch, literally in ten minutes everything was issued, gave an envelope with a password from the Internet and settled in. The apartments are spacious, there is where to roam. Towels and bath accessories were allocated for all. In general, the service is at the highest level. The room is cleaned of high quality, daily. At the same time, when they hung up a sign asking for cleaning, they cleaned it up more thoroughly. Luxurious huge outdoor pool for adults and separately - for small ones. Entertainment events are also held here. My wife and daughter went to aqua-aerobics and something else. Many electric vehicles go to the sea, there are a large number of them, so there is no crush. The sea itself is, of course, very beautiful. White sand when there were no algae - crystal water, just a feast for the eyes. When there were a lot of algae, they walked along the coast in search of a place where there were fewer of them. This is perhaps the only negative. The restaurant made me happy. Always delicious, the dishes change, the service is unobtrusive but impeccable. I just want to say "thank you" for a great holiday.

As for me, the hotel is wonderful! A beautiful well-groomed area, which is pleasant to walk around. Big enough hotel room, where it is pleasant to return after the beach in the heat. Just a feast for the stomach, not restaurants! We tried European, Mexican and Japanese food. I liked absolutely everything! It is also worth noting the cocktails, they are really good. The hotel staff know their business and do it perfectly well. Very cool animation program. A magnificent pool, in it we escaped from seaweed at sea. The weather, by the way, did not disappoint - the average temperature for the rest was about 30 degrees, but it did not soar, although there is decent humidity here. But this is so, by the way. And the hotel itself and its staff were remembered only for positive moments.

We went to the Dominican Republic for the first time, before that we were in Turkey and Greece, so there is something to compare with. We chose the Gran Bahia Punta Cana hotel complex because of the reasonable price. Unrealistically great rest! The territory is huge, there are many two- and three-storey buildings, these are all hotels in this complex. There is a large swimming pool for adults and children, and one of the closed type. There are even bars in the main pool that you can swim to and sit on an underwater chair! Electric trains run throughout the territory, we used them to get to the beach when we were too lazy to stomp on foot. Very clean everywhere, greenery, palm trees, just a fairy tale! There was a storm of emotions when they began to distinguish parrots on the branches))) We have not had this before! The room was spacious and comfortable. They give out bathrobes, slippers, constantly replenish personal care products. There is a hairdryer, iron and even an umbrella in case of rain, which was really quite unexpected). Air conditioning, ceiling fan are working properly, minibar is included in the all inclusive program. Regarding the restaurant, I can say that we did not see any dissatisfied. Buffet, just a cornucopia grocery. For every taste and in any quantity. There are also themed restaurants on site, they go by appointment in advance. We learned about it too late, and we failed to get there. But even that was not very upsetting, because every day in the main restaurant the menu was different! Now about the sea. Very, very warm! We were lucky, our entire stay, the amount of algae was very small! Azure water, velvet sand, shade from palm trees ... Mmmm ... Well, specifically, beach towels can be changed every day, there are a lot of sun beds, applied algae are constantly removed. The staff is very qualified, especially the chefs. They speak English well, some understand Russian. What can I say, my husband and I have only the most pleasant memories, I think this summer we will visit this wonderful country again!

The vacation turned out to be amazing - we spent two weeks in Gran Bahia, in Pnuta Cana. The hotel rooms can be summed up in three words - space, comfort and luxury. We lived in the 17th villa, the apartments are bright and well-groomed - the main thing is not shabby furniture and snow-white linen. In the minibar, water, tea, coffee and beer were included in the room rate and were replenished regularly. There were no complaints about the cleaning either, the girls worked great! The condo and other equipment did not let me down even once, only they changed the room key several times, it was demagnetized and did not work - this is the only thing that unbalanced. The staff is very courteous - they came to help at any time of the day or night. The restaurants served lightning fast, and when problems arose, all other employees did not remain bystanders. By the way, some of them speak excellent Russian, so there was no barrier in communication either. The hotel also had its own shopping area, the prices, of course, went off scale there, but we bought a few souvenirs. Another little tip, take your dollars with you - the most demanded and profitable currency in these places!

The hotel is located on the 1st line from the sea. Pleased with its own guarded sand beach Playa Bavaro. After the famous Macau Beach, this is the best beach area in the Dominican Republic. Along the coastline, it occupies an impressive half a kilometer. There are no breakwaters, but a coral reef helps to preserve the natural relief and protect the beach area from ocean waves.

Water delights with transparency and turquoise color, and sand - whiteness and tenderness.

The entrance to the sea is convenient, sandy, which is important for young visitors and the elderly. The underwater world is diverse and safe. Free sun loungers, towels and umbrellas on the beach.

One of the disadvantages is the smoking of vacationers on the beach. Families with children should look for smoking-free sun loungers.

The beach is cleaned, but there are some algae at times that can spoil the experience. The ocean wave regularly drives them to the shore. But the beach is constantly being cleaned of them. Therefore, negative impressions are unlikely.

During the period of a stormy influx of algae, it is better to swim near the buoys. Families with children in such an area can swim with a swimming ring, if the child is not seasick.

It should be noted that there are few days when the Caribbean suffers from algae. As a rule, no more than three or four. And in the beach area itself it is safe: there are no jellyfish, sharks, or other dangerous individuals.
