Turkish Airlines is Turkey's flagship carrier, serving flights to 120 countries around the world. Included in the TOP 10 airlines in the world. The main airport of Turkish Airlines is Ataturk International Airport located in Istanbul.

In this article, we will talk about the procedure for registering for a Turkish Airlines flight on the Internet and at airports, as well as what difficulties a passenger may encounter during check-in.

Check-in rules for Turkish Airlines flights

Check-in for a Turkish Airlines plane can be done at the airport, at home online, as well as through a mobile application. In addition, there are dedicated self-service kiosks. This undoubtedly saves time as there is no need to stand in a long line. But with or other non-standard baggage, self-check-in is not available for the flight.

To register for a flight, a passenger will need:

  • airplane ticket;
  • identity document (passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation, birth certificate for children under 14 years old);
  • foreign passport (for international flights).

Domestic flights

Check-in for domestic flights takes place in the airport building at special counters. They are easily recognizable as they usually carry the airline's brand name. At these desks, in addition to passenger check-in, baggage and hand luggage.

International flights

When flying abroad, in addition to registering at special counters, you also need to go through passport and visa control. Due to this procedure, the time for passing all pre-flight formalities is significantly increased, so you need to come to the air harbor with a large margin of time.

How long does it take to open and when does registration end

For Turkish Airlines domestic flights, check-in at the airport starts 1 hour and ends 45 minutes before departure.

For international flights, check-in at the terminal starts 2 hours before and ends 1 hour before departure.

Check-in at special kiosks is available in the following cities of Turkey: Istanbul, Izmir, Dalaman, Ankara, Adana, Antalya, Gaziantep, Samsun, Bodrum, Konya, Trabzon, Kayseri, as well as at international airports of cities: Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Stuttgart, Zurich , Frankfurt, Vienna, Nuremberg, Birmingham, Manchester, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Athens, Chicago, Madrid, Prague, Budapest, Lisbon, Barcelona, \u200b\u200bNice, Hong Kong, Oslo, Stockholm, Brussels Warsaw, Bucharest, Sofia, Prague.

check-in

For frequent flyers, the airline has created the Miles and Smiles loyalty program. When traveling with Turkish Airlines and partner companies (American Airlines, Air New Zealand, Asiana Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, SWISS, TAP Portugal), you can earn bonus points ("miles") that can be spent on tickets or upgrades your level in the program.

In this article I want to visually consider the registration for Turkish Airlines aircraft. I recommend that you go through this process through the Internet, without any queues and in a relaxed atmosphere. This will not only save time at the airport, but also be among the first to choose your favorite seats on the plane, which is very important, especially on long flights.

It should be noted that, unfortunately, online check-in for the flight is not available at all airports. So, for example, when flying from Sarajevo, I could not take advantage of this opportunity. In other cases, she helped me a lot: you can take your time and not stand in line. This option can also be considered irreplaceable if you do not have checked-in luggage, but only carry-on luggage. Then, upon arrival at the airport, you need to go directly to the check-in and security desk.

Okay, let's put the theory aside for later, let's analyze everything with a specific example.

1. Online check-in for regular Turkish Airlines flights starts 24 hours before departure. It is very convenient, you register at home, even if you then go to the airport by train or bus across the country. Slowly, in a relaxed atmosphere, and not rushing to nearby cafes in search of WiFi.

Attention! If the flight consists of several flights, then registration will be available 24 hours before the departure of the last of them!

To start the registration procedure, we go to the TK website, where you will be asked to indicate the e-ticket number ( E-Ticket Number) or PNR code ( Booking Reference), as well as the name ( First Name) and surname ( Last Name) of the passenger, and then click the Next \u003e\u003e ( Continue).

At the same time, pay attention to the checkbox “ To start online check-in only for mentioned passenger please click.“. This function is for those who have several people entered on the ticket and you want to go through the check-in procedure only for the passenger whose name and surname have just been entered. By default, the checkbox is unchecked, and we do not need it in most cases.

Please keep your booking reference and e-ticket number confidential for your own securityPlease keep your e-ticket number confidential. for your own safety.

2. If you entered all the data in the first step correctly, you will be directed to the next page. It serves to select a flight for check-in, indicate the bonus account number of Turkish Airlines or another airline that is part of Star Allians ( Frequent Flyer Card Number) and your citizenship ( Nationality). Please note that the Turkey Card ID field ( Republic of Turkey ID Number) are filled in only by citizens of the Republic of Turkey. Then click the Next button.

Please note that flights for which check-in functions are already available are marked as Availeble to Check-in.

3. A new inscription will appear at the bottom. You need to set the corresponding checkbox in the green field stating that you agree with their rules, and click again Continue.

I accept the above conditions and would like to continue check-in I agree with the airline's rules and would like to proceed with online check-in.

4. We got to the step where we need to indicate a seat for ourselves and the rest of the passengers. You can read about which seat is better to choose on the plane in a separate article.

As you can see, we have before us a diagram of an airplane and a schematic representation of all passenger seats in our class. White, empty squares - vacancies, then we can choose them. We select, click on them with the mouse and the corresponding place will appear opposite your surname. After this procedure, click next. If the flight is connecting, you will be asked to select seats on other aircraft. Do it.

After we have found a place for ourselves on all segments of the flight, we can go to the next page.

5. On this our registration is actually completed. At this point, you can still go back and change seats, but before the boarding passes are printed.

So now you need to print ( Print) all boarding passes ( Boarding pass) in the appropriate column. With these sheets, you will have to come directly to the flight. Try not to wrinkle it, as I did, stuffing it into my trousers pocket, at the Donetsk airport during the inspection the scanner only counted the security code from the boarding pass 5 times, I had to get nervous.

Please note that without Boarding Pass you will not board the plane! Please do not lose these pieces of paper. For reliability, I recommend that you print several copies and put them in different places, plus one to carry with you on a USB flash drive in electronic form (I advise you to study this in my article on travel documents).

6. Printing the boarding pass is done in the following way: after clicking on the Print button of the corresponding flight, a pop-up window pops up (make sure they are not blocked by the browser!)

Here we click on Please click here to print the boarding pass to send to the printer for printing, and be sure to save it on the computer with the item Please click here to download the boarding pass... We repeat for each boarding flight.

If the passengers have made the ticket payment via internet or call center, main credit card is required to be presentes during the boarding timeIf a passenger bought a ticket online or by phone, he will have to present his credit card, which was used for payment in confirmation of its physical presence at the time of boarding. In practice, I have never met, but just in case I do not buy through a virtual credit card, but only pay with physical ones.

7. That's all, actually! Congratulations and happy flight!

Frequently Asked Questions

What to do with your luggage?

If you have checked baggage, you will need to drop it. As a rule, for this you need to stand in line with those who check in for the flight (even with boarding passes). And only in some airports for such passengers there is a separate counter and even a self-service baggage check-in machine. If you only have hand luggage, go straight to boarding.

I checked in for the flight, but I cannot print my boarding passes; instead of the print item, there is Info.

There are a number of reasons why the service will not allow you to print your boarding pass. In such cases, you will be able to receive them during check-in at the counter, along with everyone.

I bought a ticket at a travel agency and online registration is not available to me. It's true?

Yes indeed. Travel agencies redeem places in “blocks”. You can only check in at the airport.

Can they ask me for the card with which I paid for the tickets?

Yes, but only if you bought directly from that airline's website.

The site allows you to view routes (it is possible to filter destinations by topic of interest), book and purchase tickets online, choose a seat in the cabin, order services on board (special meals, accompanying minor children, transportation of animals, etc.). Passengers can use points using the company's website bonus program, book hotels and book a car rental.
